The Incubus Curse

Rate this book
Dustin Ellisario is on the brink of triggering the Incubus curse. To become the very thing he's desperately tried to avoid as his hunger has begun to consume him from the inside out. However, a chance encounter with Freya Wilk, an individual seemingly immune to his seductive succubus charms, sparks a tantalizing hope within him. Could she be the key to preventing his curse?

Driven by a desperate curiosity, Dustin embarks on a mission to seduce Freya, initially viewing her as nothing more than a means to an end. Yet, as her life becomes entangled with the perils posed by deathwalkers and other demons, the boundaries between fascination and genuine emotion blur, and he finds himself questioning the true extent of his feelings for her.

As the layers of Freya's resistance begin to unravel, Dustin uncovers the source of her immunity. The revelation leaves him torn between the hope that she might still be his salvation from The Incubus Curse or worse.. if she will become his destruction.

In a precarious dance with destiny, Dustin and Freya navigate a treacherous path where love, danger, and the looming fear of the Incubus Curse converge.

Will Freya be the beacon of light that saves Dustin, or is she the harbinger of his irrevocable downfall?

A very unique supernatural story. The characters rope you in and keep you enthralled in the story. There are twists you don’t see coming and a cliff hanger ending that leaves you wanting more.

Review 4.5 stars! ❤️

The tension!! 🔥🔥😍 I haven’t read a paranormal romance with the succubi as the main focus, so this was super new to me and exciting as I learned about this other species of supernatural creatures!

The succubi are creatures that feed on sexual energy. Sort of like vampires they can also drain a person, however from their sexual energy. They live amongst us but hiding their identity from the humans. We follow the story of one of the most prominent succubi family, and most importantly their full-bred succubus son: Dustin Ellisario. No human can escape his lure and seduction… at least that was what he thought until he met Freya.

Freya is seemingly a normal human girl, so she is completely confused when suddenly she starts drawing attention of not only the Ellisario’s but also other deadly supernatural creatures. Why is she the only one able to resist their allure? Dustin is completely infatuated with her (I love a he-falls first + he’s obsessed trope 👀). The dynamic of these two is definitely an Instant attraction however the feelings are a slow burn build up 🔥 Freya tries as much as she can to push him away, and Dustin, tries to resist her pull which could very well lead to his demise with the incubus curse 👀

I was intrigued the entire time while reading!! It’s a smooth fast paced read, and the supernatural world and their society was easy to follow as the author gives us information slowly throughout the story and doesn’t throw it all at once in the beginning! I also loved that it was multiple POV so that we could learn more about the succubi from Dustin’s POV. I felt like I was watching a sexy and thrilling supernatural movie like Underworld! Full of seduction, desire, blood and action!

Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy for review

The only reason I gave the book 4 stars and not 5 is bc I like A LOT of spice in my books 😏🫣🤣 I’m hoping there’s more in the second book! I really loved the storyline and that it was so different from anything else I’ve read. There’s angels, vampires and succubus/incubuses.. sirens…death walkers..so many different kinds of magical creatures! The character development was great and the descriptions from the characters to the atmosphere was 🤌🏼🖤🤌🏼 the world building was not too complex and that was a huge plus for me bc world building can be very intimidating for me. The book kept me on my toes the whole time and I never saw any of the plot twist coming 😳 and after it ended on a cliffhanger I immediately messaged the author wanting to know when the second book was coming out lol …if you enjoy fated mates, soul mates, enemy to lovers, slow burn, found families, touch her and die, banter, slow build up to the storyline, some spice, magical creatures, dual POV …then this book is for you! I clearly saw this book play as a movie in my head and that’s what I need to thoroughly enjoy a book. Will 10000% always recommend this book and will definitely be reading the second book 🖤

It’s build up learning about Freya , the FMC, and what she is and if and how she will be able to help Dustin from giving in and becoming a Incubus. Enemies to lovers but it’s a slow realization. @nikkilennoxbooks is a new author and I enjoyed her first book!!! Y’all pre-order! #arc #readersofinstagram #fantasy #bookstagram

This book gripped me, and I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next! Freya was thrown into a completely different world that she hadn’t even known existed, and together with Dustin, she had to navigate this convoluted romance, while at the same time, the extreme dangers of this new reality at their heels. The build up of it all is so intense and well-written!
Perfect balance of spicy romance and fantasy - such an incredible debut from this new author. Can’t wait for her next book!!

This was such a fun read!! It was a refreshing change of pace from the typical supernaturals of vampires and Fae. The dual POV had a nice flow and made for a more interesting read. The pace was fantastic…there’s a little bit of backstory/buildup without taking away from the plot or being boring. I was on the edge of my seat reading this and once I’d get over one shocker, another one would pop up! I’m a pretty quiet reader but this book made me gasp in surprise a few times, well done! I don’t want to give away too much, but I loved how many different elements that were layered into the plot. The ending has me eagerly anticipating the next book! Congrats to this author on her debut novel and delivering an awesome reading experience!!

This book was such a fun read! The author does such a great job of capturing my attention immediately and taking me through a wild ride of unexpected turns and twists. There was never a dull moment… the plot kept building and building. Overall, the book was great and the cliffhanger at the end has me anxiously waiting for the second book.

This was such an amazing book, especially for being her debut! I was literally hooked from start to finish, unable to put the book down. There were so many unexpected twists and turns, and I normally pride myself on knowing how the book is going to end, but I was shocked by this (Not to give any spoilers)!

Definitely recommend this book to anyone and everyone!!

The Incubus Curse. A Court Of The Ancients Book #1
by Nikki Lennox

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️

A Debut Novel…

The incubus curse is a beautifully dark paranormal, supernatural ramantasy.

Tropes:
🖤Enemies to lovers
🖤Touch her & ☠️
🖤Fated mates
🖤Dual POV
🖤He falls first
🖤Insta Lust
🖤Found Family
🖤Moderate Spice

The incubus curse is a dark romance, fantasy. With wonderful dark aspects and lots of sexual tension but not much Spice…

Our MMC, Dustin… a succubus, broody, hot and sexy, loyal and an all around sweetheart.

Dustin is part of an elite (sucubus) family out of New York. He is a sweetheart underneath all the bravado, who has never known what it is to love, to feel anything beyond the carnal desires of his nature, and when he meets Freya all of that changes. And as he adapts to her presence, he continues to feel an inner pull, undeniably drawn to her. A connection of sorts, he begins to feel things he thought himself in capable of!

And my heart breaks for him. I love his character and his development throughout the storyline. He is beautifully crafted and delivered with a deeply touching persona, his dynamic was intricate and weaved perfectly through his narrative.

Our FMC, Freya, Is part angel. A hard-working, self-reliant and strong character.

Freya is a simple girl. one that All of us can easily relate to. Everything she thought she knew, everything she was, all of it… Her entire world is ripped out from under her as she is thrust into a new reality filled with paranormal, and bazaar supernatural creatures of all kinds: vampires succubus, sirens, angels, Demons death Walkers and so on.

The dynamic between our main characters is palpable and the chemistry electric. You are just waiting for the sexual tension to explode.

Full of dark aspects, twists and turns that will have you White knuckling your tablet… A Truly phenomenal piece of debut work from our new author Nikki Lennox.

I was absolutely blown away and completely hooked from the very first chapter, utterly unable to put it down until the end.

This is truly an intriguing read and grips you right from the start.

I figured early on that this book is more about the plot and establishing the narrative than hot sexy scenes. Which, to be honest, I found I enjoyed immensely. I do love a lot of Spice, but the storyline makes up for the lack of that!

But OMG I did miss what could’ve been… Please bring the Spice in the next book Nikki, I beg you, our MC’s deserve it.

Although, that being said. We have a perfectly balanced amount of romance, sexual tension and supernatural action which is all inspiring, engaging and quite intense. we move quickly from the beginning. rarely stopping for a breather.

This is a quick paced, action packed thrilling rollercoaster ride right out of the gate.

The plot line is wonderfully layered and progresses with a flawless ease the characters and pacing is constructed around an amazing well realised and delicately weaved world that Nicki has created.

Just beautiful world building! Well done Nicki…brava.

The side characters were fantastically constructed and imagined, giving the narrative as a whole all the elements it needed to provide us with a well-balanced cast.

Absolutely brilliantly written a pleasurable breeze to read and hard to put down.

We are left with a bracing and nagging need for the second book after the intense and emotional cliffhanger.

This is a must read for all supernatural, romance and fantasy fans. You will not want to miss this.

It is a refreshingly dark and utterly enthralling, you will be pulled into the darkness and wrapped around it! Who would want it any other way.

Quote:

"I'm serious, Freya. I think I love you. Regardless of how good you taste, I know I've never felt this way toward anyone. Like I would let the world burn if it meant saving you. I quite literally burn for you. And I can't get you out of my head. I know how crazy that sounds, especially since we've known each other for only a week, but you have consumed me from the inside out."

I've been such a reading funk recently; myself, my partner and my then six month old all caught COVID-19 and we felt awful. My partner then ended up getting a second bout of flu straight after so I ended up having no time to read. HOWEVER, one book managed to get me out of my funk and back into my reading groove.

Debut novel from Nikki Lennox, The Incubus Curse is a dark paranormal, romantasy novel that puts Succubi at the forefront of the storyline. We have had so many books with fae, vampires, werewolves, etc, but it is very rare that Succubi are the main characters. I think I remember a Succubus/Incubus being a side character in Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.

Our FMC, Freya, is just a "normal" woman, works for a shitty boss in a shitty company, and works hard to get through life. Dustin, our MMC, is a dark, brooding, mysterious sweetheart (IMO) who is part of the prestigious Ellisario family. Dustin and Freya meet when the Ellisario family are meant to be attending a business meeting with the company Freya works at.

What I loved the most was that both of the main characters were so relatable, I feel like I've been Freya, working for a shitty boss in a shitty company. I feel like Dustin is relatable as that bloke who pretends to have all the confidence in the world but is deep down quite insecure. Now I will say that anyone that likes their supernatural romances to have a lot of spice, there isn't much in this. There is tons of sexual chemistry and I'm hoping that in book 2, there will be a lot more spice. The cliffhanger at the end...please don't make me wait too long to find out what happens next!!

I cannot wait until book 2 comes out and if there isn't much backstory on the Ancients, Nikki, I would love a standalone novel set in the time in which the Ancients ruled, hint, hint.

I loved this book and I am so grateful to it for getting me out of my reading funk! It is sweet and steamy and the plot gradually builds up the world around the main characters. If you want something easy to read to sink your teeth into or something to slowly introduce you to the Dark Romance, Spicy Genre, this is the book for you!

After sleeping on it I might change my rating to 1 star. The story intrigued me enough to keep reading but now I wish I would have stopped. It never really explained anything and the mc’s maybe slept together but it wasn’t for us to know because it was during a black out. I got angry more than turned on. Excuse my crudeness but it was like masturbating with a dying vibrator and then you’re almost there and it dies completely.

So, I was not a person who read Twilight growing up. However, if I could imagine what it felt like reading Twilight while growing up, I would compare it to the feeling I got while reading this book. It felt like a guilty pleasure. I would say that I don't typically like books like this, but this one got me good. I was so into the story, it was crazy. I was giggling, smiling, and gasping at words on paper. I am so grateful to have met the author when walking into Barnes this Saturday!!! Honestly, if you want a quick, fun read, pick this one up.

I have NEVER fallen in love with a blonde MMC, but ladies and gentlemen, Dustin has my heart.

Nikki has such a way with keeping her readers engaged. I feel like I continually NEEDED to keep reading just like the succubus need to feed. The story spun in a direction I didn’t expect, but I loved it nonetheless. All I will say is, the ending of this book will, in fact, have me screaming into my pillow in anticipation of the next one.

10/10 stars—I need more of Freya and Dustin 👏🏼

FMC Freya Wilk and MMC Dustin Ellisario, POV switching back and forth between the two. Dustin is subbucus on the verge of being consumed by the incubus curse. Enter Freya, who seems to keep the curse at bay. Lots of action, romance, and fantasy. It ends on a cliffhanger. Will definitely check out the 2nd book once available. It's definitely worth the read. There were some minor spelling/grammar errors that would bother some but didn't bother me while reading.

So…this book. What the fuck on ice. My fingers are gripping my phone like claws wanting to crush it to parts! WHAT THE HELL!!

Tropes baby

✨age gap (and I mean he’s old as sin. He should be dust particles)
🖤forced proximity/ same room
💀unhidden power
✨fated mates
🩸drinking blood/ seducing
✨touch her/look at her you literally DIE and that’s not a joke
I feel like I’m missing some tropes

Spice level very much 🌶️ pepper
I love SPICE AND SMUT this book DOES NOT HAVE THAT. I was looking forward to how Dustin gets down in the bedroom. Did not receive that 😡🤬but the PLOT overtakes it 😇🪽

Okay I won’t make this long but this book is so good. I literally decided to just sit and read it and I couldn’t put it down!!

Freya she is very fiery but so innocent? One thing I disliked about Freya was that she overly talked down about Tina lowkey and other women. I may have misinterpreted that but it gave off HATEERRRR. But I still loved Freya I wish I was her honestly.

TINA the best friend! I FREAKING love her!!! She is like the star 😂😂 she is badass absolutely a good friend and I loved her character and how well it fit. Freya needs a friend like her bad ass and loyal. Also her and the brother 👀👀

Dustin! I loved him I loved how he kept trying to compose himself while also literally dying inside. This man was unhinged like a door coming loose! The ending 🧑🏽‍🍳💋

Oliver 😏 I need something with Tina and him PLEASE!!

The world building was great I easily visualized the scenes the atmosphere and it’s so many deadly ass creatures in this book it’s absolutely mind boggling.🖤

Very enjoyable and I’m patiently (not really) waiting for book 2 😀 (maniac Dustin smile) literally had to message her for that second book like HELLOOOO!!!

Favorite line 🖤

“I can taste sexual energies, Freya Darling. And you? You taste. So. Damn. Good. I can’t imagine how good you will taste when I make you cum.”

I had to step away and process everything I read in this book before typing my review. When I tell you I ate this book up, I mean I quite literally inhaled it! Real life didn’t exist while I was in the midst of this world! If you loved Vampire Diaries, True Blood, or Twilight, you’ll probably love this! Sprinkle in a little mystery and gore for the adults. It’s dark and sexy and you will experience every emotion on the spectrum.

Add to your TBR if you love:
🖤 Insta-Lust, but done right…
✨ He Falls First
🖤 Enemies to Lovers
✨ Touch her and 💀
🖤 Dual POV
✨ Fated Mates
🖤 Angels and Demons
✨ Angst and tension 🙌 Soo much tension and I’m HERE for it!!
🖤 He’s morally black…
✨ He can feel what she feels… 👀

I LOVED the plot, and the characters in this story were written so well! Dustin is a sexy, but unhinged succubus with the ability to charm anyone with just a mere glance in their direction. His appetite is deadly and insatiable as he no longer feels satisfaction from his usual prey. Freya is an Ivy League alumni just trying to make a name for herself. Her life revolves around work until she meets Dustin and her entire world changes. The tension and angst between these two is everything! He’s possessive and she’s feisty and stubborn as hell. He wants to sleep with her and she is absolutely appalled by him, but there’s this pull to each other that they struggle to shake.

Will they?!
Won’t they?!
Wtf is happening right now?!

Prepare to have your world turned upside down as you begin to root for this demon’s redemption. The cliffhanger on this one was KILLER!

The Incubus Curse by Nikki Lennox is book one in The Court of the Ancients. This is the first book I’m reading by this author and I must say my mind was blown. (In a good way of course) I first came across this author on TikTok and a video for this book, I must say my interest was immediately piqued. I knew I just had to get my eyes on it and I’m so insanely happy that I did. I finished this book so fast, I was hooked from the opening chapters all the way until the end. Speaking of, I will mention it does end on a cliffhanger. This had everything that I enjoy in a fantasy read; it has romance, spice, action, adventure and was a bit of a thriller as well. The writing was done really well and had a steady plot throughout. One of the biggest things I liked was how everything was described, it made it easier for me to imagine what I was reading. My favorite part and even what I loved the most was the chemistry between Dustin and Freya… it was top tier. Both of them were great characters and I’m so interested in where everything goes next. I honestly am eagerly awaiting book two. This was hands down a fabulous read and I can say I’m definitely a fan of Nikki Lennox’s writing abilities.

The narrative centers on Freya and Dustin, allowing you to witness each peculiar event that precedes Freya realizing Dustin is a succubus. But Freya has more issues than Dustin because she is not susceptible to the Succubi's allure, which makes her a more desirable target for other people. It will seem as though you are Freya herself, frantically attempting to decipher what is going on around her and the possible meaning of the enigmatic Incubus Curse. I was literally screaming at the pages because of the turns at the end of the book. It would be a mistake to miss this amazing planet. This book was so refreshing because it has angels, vampires, sirens, death walkers and succubus/ incubus, the magical creatures will keep you on your toes. The world build was easy to follow, and the characters had good development. For me this had baby spice and I am hoping that what comes next has a higher level of it. I will be adding this to the top of my paranormal romance books.

OMG what a gripping and $exy read, one that involves the paranormal identities of the Incubus, succubus and the realm of Angels. From the very beginning I was totally intrigued by this plot, the characters and the complexity of the paranormal world that this story revolves around. I will admit I've not travelled down into this realm of Angels, fallen Angels and demons on too many occasions but this was just so "hot" with the whole sexual magnification that comes with the succubus and incubus realm.
A really creative plot that was well planned out but still easily read. It was filled with great characters surrounded by off the chart $exual connotations and scenarios, drama, action, violence, dark and mysterious moments that left me wondering how this was going to be summarised up and to leave it on such a cliffhanger has left me definitely addicted to wanting more from these characters.

Enemies to lovers, touch her & die, & LOTS of mythical creatures!!

MMC Dustin is a succubus that is beginning to be consumed by his hunger, accidentally killing all the girls he’s been feeding off of, and therefore as risk of triggering the Incubus Curse. When he meets our FMC Freya, he realizes she is immune to his succubus charms. Intrigued, he makes it his mission to seduce her. When a deathwalker comes for her, he vows to protect her & not let her out of his sight. They begin to question their true feelings for one another and when the nature of Freya’s immunity is revealed. As she’s being hunted by deathwalkers & other demons, they find themselves navigating through numerous dangerous situations while fighting off these demons, their feelings for each other, & the looking Incubus Curse. Will Freya’s immunity be the key to help preventing the curse, or will she be his undoing?

📚 Well, well, BookWorld—meet your new BookBoyfriend: Dustin Ellisario 😍
I picked up this book on a whim, convinced it was underrated—and I was absolutely right!

From the very first page, it grabs you, no waiting around for the story to warm up—Freya is thrown into a supernatural whirlwind, and I felt like I was right there with her, stepping out of fairy tales and into harsh reality. 💫

What I loved most:
• Freya doesn’t just accept the truth of this world—she wrestles with it, questioning her sanity nearly the entire time. It’s refreshing to see a heroine react so realistically!
• The succubus/incubus theme is so rare in fantasy romance, and Nikki Lennox’s spin on it is fascinating!⚡

The writing, the world-building, the tension (!), and the characters—everything was just perfect. The dual POV adds even more layers, making every moment richer.

About the 🌶: This is where things get unique. There’s no explicit spice scene, but somehow, it’s incredibly sensual. The way the author crafts those touches and emotions is remarkable. And since the succubus/incubus theme revolves around their essence and what they feed on, the entire vibe of the book is inherently sexy 🔥🥵

Wow, what a ride this was!

I really enjoyed this book, and then at about 80% of the way through, I REALLY enjoyed this book! It certainly kicks up a gear towards the end and that cliffhanger, seriously @nikkilennoxbooks I'm not sure I can wait until January!

I didn't particularly like Dustin, but I did kinda like him. It's very complicated 🤣 I definitely shouldn't like him, but 🤷‍♀️. Freya is great, and I completely emphasise with her confusion and uncertainty the entire book, I mean, the stuff that's thrown at her, and she just rolls with it!

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to like Azrael, I kind of do, but also definitely don't! As you can tell, this book has me questioning my already questionable taste in fictional men 🤣.

The cliffhanger is going to kill me, but I can't wait for book 2!

If you are looking for a fun, spicy, really good read, this is for you!

This was my first book by this author, and it does end in a cliffhanger. I thought the plot was good, but the execution fell short for me. The main characters, Dustin and Freya, were good together. They definitely had chemistry, but we never really know if they were ever “together” or not. Which I found rather confusing and odd. Dustin was a pretty solid lead character throughout the book. Freya started out pretty solid, and then started making really questionable decisions. I mean, who thinks going out to the bars to drink and party, while super creepy and incredibly powerful supernatural beings are after you, is a good idea??? At about this point, I began losing interest and the plot started to go all over the place.

Okay, I devoured this book in two days, and let me tell you, this did not disappoint. As someone who is an avid lover of all things romantasy (And TVD), I find this book to be a breath of fresh air in the writing community. Not only was the spice spicing, but the overall plot of the book took a new approach that not many novelists have done, creating a world that the reader can just fall into. Dustin and Freya not only have a dynamic that will have you rooting for them from start to finish, but overall, the book as a whole grabs you with the "he falls first trope," creating a read that you will never want to put down. Amazing job, Nikki!!
