Loic has grown on me like a fungus. I usually can't stand an anti-hero, but there's something endearing about this man and the more you hear his story, the more you wonder how he even survived. Watching Tarryn and Valor fall in love with him, kicking and screaming, makes you realize just how special he is, and they are. This is a very dark tale of a monster in the making but shows love can overcome all. All sorts of drama and hilarity helped ease my faint heart also.

I'm obsessed with how this duet turned out.

-=- 4.5 stars -=-

The dynamic and having all the characters together was everything. I ended up loving this one so much more than I did the first book, and more than I thought I would. Loïc was such an amazing character 🥹. I genuinely didn't want this to end.

REVIEW:

So good! I loved this final book for Tarryn, Valor, and Loïc.

In the last book I was a little unsure about Loïc. He's just such a hard pill to swallow. But he grew on me so much! And his heart really opened to them so by the end of this I couldn't help but love him.

I think my favorite part of this book though was seeing the growth between Loïc and Valor. They started off so hateful towards each other. But in the end they are just as in love with each other as they are with Tarryn and I loved seeing them get that point.

I didn't find Loïc nearly as creepy in this one. Not only did he grow on me, but he grew on Tarryn and Valor so his stalking became less weird and more sweet.

I was also glad to hear more of his backstory. It's sad and tragic. But it helped to make more sense of his strange behavior and intimacy issues.

And I just LOVED how all three of them were when they all finally came to terms with being in a relationship together. They were so sweet and fun together. I loved their banter and affection. It make them more relatable and genuine. I loved them.

Overall a great duet! Sorcha Black is such a good writer of emotionally gripping and raw mmf romance. This was so good! I hope she continues to give us more mmf goodies to read.

This book picks up where the last one left off. Our favorite walking red flag is determined to be the permanent third member in Tarryn and Valor's relationship and has no problem doing whatever he has to to make it happen.

I thoroughly enjoyed this duet. What I liked about this second installment is seeing the relationship between Loïc, Tarryn and Valor progress into love. Loïc is definitely still obsessed with them but seeing him do whatever to get them was unhinged but still adorable. His past is tragic. His mom was a pedo POS who groomed her own child and pimped him out to big spenders. I was so glad she was dead. This book might be fiction but she can burn in hell.

This series was hilarious, sexy, unhinged and toxic as hell but it was also a good time. I will definitely be rereading it for years to come.

I anticipated the Spin-off of Severin’s brother, Loïc, and I have to say—surprisingly—that I liked Severin’s love story more.
I didn’t like the unbalanced dynamic in this book here. Tarryen had a strong bond with both of them and was the center of everything, while the other two claimed they loved each other too but hardly strengthened their connection with one another. 😭
And of course, we have to address what Loïc did with Tarryen’s fertility—THAT was not okey, insane and cant be excused through KINK???
I also missed the fights in the relationship, BECAUSE THERE WERE SO MANY PLAUSIBLE REASONS FOR THEM. It was frustrating.
In Severin’s love story, there was real affection and a willingness to argue and work through problems between everyone. It felt more authentic.

This duet sets a bar for me that I doubt any other dark menage will ever touch. I want a special edition physical copy of the collected stories so badly.

Loïc, Tarryn and Valor have a story that's just so good! They're hot and sweet and awkward and so imperfectly perfect. Like the first half of their story, I have so many highlights and notes from my first read through, but there's no way I can fit it all into a coherent review.

Have you ever loved your first read from a new author so much that you're scared to read anything else they've written because it can't possibly get better than this? There's a perfection to how this duet hit me that I don't want anything to spoil it.

I can't express how good I found the writing in this! The characters and dynamics are written with such intention that you just know that these are characters that have lived in the author's mind so that their story can be told with absolute love and expertise. Unlike other dark romances, this doesn't introduce dark themes for shock value, edginess, apologist language or over romanticization. Yes, there is the problem of the morally gray character being incredibly good looking and super rich so it's all okay when he does it that all these books fall into, but I feel like it was handled better here. The themes are there to be explored in ways that have real impact on the characters. Incest, abuse, human trafficking, grooming, murder, stalking, toxic masculinity, dubious, consensual non-consent and straight-up non-consent, interfering with birth control to force pregnancy, PTSD and I honestly cannot remember all the other topics that could be triggering. It was never written in a repulsive or sensational way, but almost casually so that you almost miss bits of it while making note of other parts to research and discuss more later.

That could just be me, though, because I found so much of Loïc and Tarryn relatable in some ways. Valor's honestly bland and not the kind of character I have any real life familiarity to, but he goes from the instigator of this chaos to the anchor in their storms and the thing that really holds them together. Tarryn, as a character, stayed pretty static. Likable and unchanged throughout. It's Loïc and Valor who really had to face parts of themselves and change and it was so compelling to follow their journey. None of this works, though, with any of them taken out and I think, messed up bits aside, it's such a good poly story. Each characters struggle with dynamics and desires is so realistic. The love, passion and obsession that keeps them coming back together to get past all the rough spots was probably unrealistic and romanticized with lots of spice for good measure, but I loved it all.

Seriously, whenever I figure out whoever it was that recommended this to me, I'm giving my eternal thanks and totally owe you. This should be way more read, rated and reviewed than it currently is.

The Violence of My Affection & This Reckless Devotion
I freakin' LOVED both books!!!💖

Loïc, Valor and Tarryn's story turned out to be even better than Severin, Minnow & Rodrigo's. Both stories are so intertwined, that I wonder why it's not a series instead of separate duets??
The story wasn't even that extraordinary or spectacular, but those books just 'worked for me'... big time! Sometimes that's just how it is.... 😆

Despite being stalkerish, deranged and unhinged, Loïc was such a lovable and sweet character! 🥰 He made this story so amazing. It's been a while since a book character made such an impression on me! 😀
Definitely a solid 5 star read! I'm actually thinking about adding both books to my 'ab fav 5plus stars' shelf. 😍 That's how much I liked them!

This Reckless Devotion is book two in Sorcha Black’s duology and…wow. Frankly, I didn’t think the author would be able to dial it up as much as she did, but Loic’s sociopathic behavior is so compelling, it’s downright mesmerizing and I’m here for it all. Valor and Tarryn are no match for his machinations, and yet, they balance him out in ways that simply work. I loved how Loic seemed to have such childlike wonder for things, which could then easily be superseded by a fierce protective streak and almost violent jealousy. The dynamics between the three characters is completely effed up but at the same time, it’s perfect.

“Nothing he does is okay, but that’s all part of the experience. Loïc Leduc: strap in and hang on tight,…”

And that is exactly what I did. Safe to say that I inhaled this story faster than The Violence of my Affection.

A New All-time Favorite Book/Series

This Reckless Devotion, the final book in a story that started years ago and introduced us to two beautifully broken men, Severin and Loic in Feral King and Tragic King, if you have 't read them. This is the final book in Loic's Duet.

Loic is a complex man who has been through so much in his short life, and Tarryn and Valor are his perfectly imperfect partners. The married couple needed Loic as much as he needed them. This love story gave all the feels.

I highly recommend reading Sorcha Blacks's Feral King and Tragic King before the Violence of My Affection Duet. Loic's brother Severin's story was as compelling and beautiful as this one.

I see many re-reads of this series.

Darkly sweet finale

I didn't get around to reviewing book one and I won't right a long review of book two. If you are reading book 2 you must have at least enjoyed book 1. All I can say is Löic has had such a horrifically tragic upbringing that's left him both feral and innocent in a unique way. It was a pleasure to see him fall in love and experience what it's like to interact with humans, and become a human himself.

I also love the neurospicy cast of characters. As a nuerodivergent person, married to one, with children that are also nuerodivergent, I love when I come across representation, which isn't nearly often enough, considering how many people are diagnosed or self diagnosed later in life. I look forward to future books by this author.

Overall this book has less tension, then the first so isn't as thrilling. there's not much suspense left, there's no real growing pains things just work out. Loic seems quite tame so his chaos is mostly missing after the halfway point. Tarryn and Valor's characters don't ever really get fleshed out, . Loic on the other hand is fleshed out enough to see what draws him to Tarryn and Valor, but I would have liked to have seen more of him coming to terms

In the first book sex was about exploring sexuality, boundaries, power dynamics and demonstrating their growing obsession with each other, but once this is established the smut becomes a bit repetitive. If the sex had evolved so it demonstrated more intimacy, love, trust and vulnerability, it would have been more purposeful, intriguing and hot.

A MFM why choose dark romance that surprisingly by the second book became a comedy.

Loic is unhinged in the best possible way. Some of his one liners absolutely cracked me up. I particularly loved the scene where Taryn and Valor were pissed off at one another and Loic panicked about being left out in the argument so included himself. Think I reread that paragraph 1000 times I had to genuine tears from laughter. It was such dry humour the ultimately encompass all that was Loic.

The character development of Valor was amazing. And I read both books back to back so had a unique experience of seeing his character grow.

Tropes included
- stalker
- breeding
- billionaire (although not disclosed heavily implied)
- pregnancy
- unhinged MMC
- bi-awakening
- BDSM themes

I was sure this story couldn't get more amazing. Then comes the second it flowed so nicely from the first. Pretty sure I love Loic more.
Intense crazy dark all dressed in passion and kinky stuff, what's not to love.
The back story... oh.m.g really made me wanna punch peoples in the throat.
Each person sees themselves even as they see into each other. What they offer other, what they expect from each other.
It was amazing reading their growth, the dark is dark but not on the same level.
This duet totally smashed and scorcha did that thing! Enjoy

The Leduc-Davenports

Loïc really had a traumatic life. I wouldn't wish his mother on my mortal enemy. I'm glad he unalived her azz. She was an evil despicable creature. Who does the things she did to her own kids. No wonder Loïc was doing the things he did, he really didn't know any better. All he wanted was a family of his own to love and he got that with Tarryn and Valor. I'm glad the abductors did succeed. I'm glad he got everything that his heart ever wished for.💚💚

Loved this series

Loved this series from beginning to end. Loic really pulled some unbelievable stunts . We pickup where we left off in book 2. This thruple really comes into their own version of a poly relationship. I wouldn’t mind getting like a follow to get a better look into what a poly relationship looks like on the day to day basis. I blew through this series. If your looking for something smutty, funny, lighthearted pick up the series

Loïc broke my heart

The shit that Loïc went through was horrific, and the way that Valor and Tarryn loved him through it was actually well done, in my opinion.
Loïc was still unhinged, but it was fun watching him worm his way into his lovers' hearts without conforming, and they just accepted his stalker ways with affection.
This book gave me warm and fuzzies and a few snort laughs as well.

Perfect Ending

Loved the ending (would even love an extended epilogue that shows what goes on right after)

Loïc is my favorite character by far, just such an endearing and entertaining person to read. Was a cute and heartwarming end, sometimes it really does take 3 to feel complete.

This is the second book in this duet, and I do recommend reading them in order. This read begins where the last book ended. We learn about Loic’s horrible childhood and how he became the person he is today. This is a fast-paced read with plenty of pain, drama, and emotion. Great characters and intense chemistry. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it.

Much like the first book, I feel half the sex scenes could've been cut without the story losing anything. It's established early on the three MCs can't keep their hands off each other whether they're in public or not, so it didn't need to be spelled out every single chapter. However, I love Loic's character growth in this one and the way Valor learns to accept his own feelings.

No, I don't want it to be over

One of the best stories I've read. The 2nd book was even better than the first, if that is possible. They are the most amazing family and their twisted love makes my heart hurt. The characters are so good they felt real. I think I'm in love with all of them!

Ugh...I am not ready to say goodbye to these three, but I HAD to read the second book right away or I would have exploded.

I loved seeing their relationship come together. And all the other things that happened between them. Another fantastic story written by Sorcha Black!

oh my god! so good!

I didn’t think this duology could be as good as the Severin duology but I was so wrong. They are both so so good. So much love, pain, emotions and the kink! My god…
Loic …can’t even describe his appeal. There are no words. My heart ached for him as I fell under his spell.

Oh my heart!!!!! 😭😭 Loved reading this book. This book made me laugh so hard but at the same time broke my heart for Loic. So much love, pain, emotions and the kink. Loic put me under a spell as he did to Valor and Tarryn. Enjoyed Valor and Loic together and their relationship with each other how it evolved.

Double the Delight

As amazing as the Severin Duology, Loic's is a story about a tragic past, a haunted present, and the ultimate redemption. A true and unconventional love story that showcases how darkness is easily overshadowed by the light.

This duet had both dark and comical themes. Very entertaining read.
Great and entertaining characters.

Loïc was unhinged in the best possible ways. It was so amusing that he referred to himself in 3rd person. He was like the sweetest psycho ever.

Sorcha’s books are always high in the heat factor, and I love how she leaves in a compelling story. I am so excited that Loic got his own story. My heart broke for him in Severin’s story… and I loved that this tragic man got his redemption story.

❤️Thoughts❤️

This is the conclusion of their story and man it didn't disappoint. Loic is the reason why I loved this duet so much so seeing him get his HEA after all the crap he has been through when he was kid was great. Valor loves how Loic honestly saved him from himself and because of that he makes a lot of changes to make sure he is with Tarryn and Loic once they hear some exciting news.

You also get a deeper look into Loic on what happens when he is triggered and tries to cope with his past trauma that you didn't get in book one. I don’t want to spoil anything else, so just go read this!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐⭐
Tropes🔦: MFM (They are all in a relationship with each other so there will be MM too), Dark Romance, Stalker, Mention of abuse, HEA.
