Pushed beyond her limits, Polly Prescott quits her job as uncompromising Italian Luca Salvatore’s PA. Yet the moment the clock strikes midnight on her last evening they surrender to the incendiary attraction between them…Fast forward eight weeks, and workaholic Luca has thought of—no, craved nothing but Polly ever since. Except his foundations are rocked when Polly tells him she’s pregnant. No Salvatore heir will ever feel unwanted again. Luca’s solution? Promote Polly from ex-secretary to convenient wife! He just needs to convince her to sign on the dotted line…
Hero, Luca was a brilliant and eccentric (reminded me a little of Elon Musk). I really liked him. Something different for a hero HP.
Heroine, Polly was his assistant for about 5 years. Finally realized she needed a change because he was too important in her life. She gives two week notice. Both are attracted to each other but never crossed that line. But they did on her last night working for him.
Polly leaves for her new job and realizes she's pregnant.
Luca begins to realized after weeks he can't function without her.
Luca goes after her to bring her back as his assistant. Well she is disappointed it's just about work and says no but he realizes at that point she's pregnant.
He insists that they marry. She agrees after a little bit of push back on the marriage issue.
They live together and start to really communicate on an intimate and emotional level. Polly realizes she loves him first and Luca is still trying to understand all his feelings but eventually realizes it's love.
Love the complex character Luca was. Polly was strong and caring. She was willing to understand and accept him for his uniqueness and brilliance. And he realized Polly was perfect for him in her acceptance and understanding of who and what he was.
No official epilogue really. But the last page has just a small glimpse into their future. Really wish we had a entire epilogue chapter.
I wanted you, Luca. And I couldn’t want somebody else while I wanted you.”
That’s what I want the MCs should feel! I know H(Luca) was like a robot but he realized her 4 years ago and still be with OW even if they were just ONS.

This was an interesting take on the infamous Harlequin/Mills & Boon boss/assistant trope. The hero is a neurodivergent, hotshot medical doctor. He’s researching and actively finding the cure for ovarian(?) cancer. The heroine is his fed up, on call assistant who kind of can’t stand him but also wants to bang him. So yeah, classic set-up here. But this book has a surprising amount of un-assholeness from the hero, and positive, healthy communication from the main couple after misunderstandings. Which wasn’t exactly what I wanted going in. I wanted that tropey, “he’s a toxic alphahole and doesn’t know how to communicate” goodness that I usually find in these publishers romances. But I was quite pleasantly surprised on how untropey this couple was in those terms.
However, I think a lot of the writing for this one killed what could have been a great story. I actually think this author has a lot of potential here, but a lot of her writing feels clunky, disjointed, and often-times under edited. There’s even a few lines with strange, grammatically inncorrect sentence structure, and even word misspelling. Not only that, but the exposition and inner dialogue really ruined this story for me. I think about 70% of this story is stuck in our characters heads. Even during the sex scenes, these characters were talking about childhood trauma. Which, fine if you’re into that. But I found it almost unreadable at times, and I often found myself skimming.
Now don’t get me wrong, this was still a semi-unique read for a Harlequin/Mills & Boon boss/assistant romance. It has a neurodivergent coded hero that actually feels like pretty good representation (coming from someone who has ADHD), and actual communication and sufficient apologizing between our MC’s. But with all the inner monologuing, I really didn’t think these two interacted enough for me to believe they were in love by the end. Still a decent read to pass the time, and obviously short and sweet as most books from these publishers are.
This romance is well written, but the internal narration spoiled it for me. I guess about 70% of this story is internal thoughts, all relating to the relationship push/pull, which was extremely tiring to read. The book should have been driven forward with the story and dialogue, but unfortunately all the narration did was make me speed read huge lumps.
The hero was extremely intelligent and to my mind was on the spectrum, which was really different and interesting. Dig out the H/h's actual physical interactions and it'd be a cracking shorter read and I would have given it more stars. It really felt as if this author was desperately trying to word fill. I loved their banter when it happened.
Hooray, MA is back on her game with this delicious romance, after some oddities which I did not enjoy!
I have liked so many of this author’s books - whichever name she is using - because she usually creates characters who have real, authentic emotions and who fall in love in totally credible ways. Some of her recent books have really missed the mark for me, so it’s great to see she still can do a great job.
This was a really interesting and different type of story. Luca is a different sort of hero, and Polly , a different kind of heroine.
I enjoyed this a lot but I felt a little distanced from the story and the characters at times; in a way which doesn’t normally happen with these books. I would have liked a proper epilogue seeing them together rather a brief description of how well it all worked out. I needed it to be “show rather than tell.
Definitely worth a read as the author deals with a sensitive topic in a truly brilliant and meaningful way.
not sure how to rate this - the writing is worth 5 stars but the plot and premise were a little difficult to engage with and I really wanted a stronger epilogue. So 3.5 to 4 stars.

"Her Impossible Boss’s Baby" is the story of Polly and Luca.
19 year old heroine is hired straight from mid college to be the hero's assistant. He is the most eccentric, hard to please man, and she works relentlessly for five years.. until she is fed up and decides to move on. A two week notice ultimatum, a conference that leads to a one night stand, lack of protection and an unexpected bun in the oven. When the hero tracks her down a month later, he never expects his assistant to be pregnant. But can this robotic man give her the love she oh so craves?
Very happy to read a book with a neurodivergent hero who was like sheldon cooper mixed with spencer reid, and a heroine who did her best to understand and support him. Sweet romance, some good sex, loads of past trauma and a happy ending.
This story was very, good. The plot and characters were so very well written. The author developed each character with so much depth. The h is the executive assistant to the H, who is a brilliant doctor, he is almost robotic. He very direct in his approach regarding his research, he didn’t do relationships, he didn’t like people, his research was his everything. The h was the only one who truly understood him, they had a simmering desire for each other but neither acted upon it until her last day working for him. She was done with his impossible demands so she quit. They gave into their desires and 2 months later he discovers that she is pregnant. The author describes in great detail how their pasts have had a very big impact on their lives. They fought their way through to find the love each deserves. Great ending.
I was liking it until I wasn't - it kinda dragged to a halt midway through and I think I would've appreciated some more action or drama, rather than pages and pages of the characters being like "Huh....maybe my childhood trauma.....doesn't mean that I need to be unhappy for the rest of my life?"
However, with that being said, if you're just going to write the characters thinking or talking about their feelings, it helps to be as good at writing those feelings as this author is. So I think I'll read more HQN by Millie Adams, as there's clearly a talent for writing raw, nuanced emotion.
Really loved whole story .how 2 broken people came together and ended up loving one another. working out huge problems each had from destructive childhood.reminder that children are fragile and need love and care
Read this while recovering from wisdom teeth removal and enjoyed it. Kept me entertained and I couldn’t put it down. It’s a fast paced read. I really enjoyed Luca and Polly’s love story. I recommend this book.
i love the neurodivergent representation in the hero. I assume he's autistic, which is amazing to see in a Presents hero. It inspires me in my own writing. Great job!
