Taming the King

I swore nothing would screw up the alliance I'd finally forged with the king of the Fae.
Then I was captured by his mortal enemy.

❤️ : It's Complicated.

Marrying the brutally gorgeous, fiercely proud, and irredeemably arrogant High King of the Fae wasn’t on my punch list a few weeks ago, but it was the fastest way to keep my people safe.

Then the Fae’s ancient enemies strike. The darkly twisted ruler of the Fomorians rips me into his underworld prison…and tells me I’m now his bride, too.

Even worse? Once my beautiful Fae king learns how I’ve unwittingly betrayed him, his only solution is war.

To stop the bloody battle that will destroy two of the most powerful races in all the realms—and take down Earth’s witches too—I’ve got to call in every favor and squeeze every last drop of magic I can from my Hogan blood. It still might not be enough.

Because witches’ hearts are meant for breaking, traitors hide around every corner, and when it comes to Fae, Fomorian, and especially witchling magic—nothing is as it seems.

Taming the King, by author D.D. Chance, is the third and final installment in the authors Witchling Academy series. This story begins right where Tempting the King finished. The story once again alternate's between Belle Hogan and Aiden, High King of the Fae. Belle Hogan is once again in a whole lot of trouble. She's been stolen from the human realm where she was trying to return home to, and taken to the Fomorian realm by those who betrayed her family, where she comes face to face King Lyric who claims that he wants what Aiden believes he already has; A wife.

A thrilling end to the series. Lots of twisty's, excellent storyline, glorious vengeance (my personal favorite, cackling here) and magic. I love the creation magic, the H/h were perfect, and a surprise cameo! Highly recommend the series. These are can't put them down books.

When the High King of the Fae finally finds his Hogan witch, he discovers the magic that has been missing from Faery all this time hiding in the body of an enchanting Hogan witch.

When Belle Hogan ends up in the proverbial lap of the Fae king she had been hiding from her entire life, she discovers how much they need to learn, and how much she needs to teach.

Now they discover things about magic they wish they had known before. This war may have ended a very long time ago had the Hogan witches upheld their bargain.

But, they know now, and they are learning new things every day. Some of the things they are learning are astounding them. Some of the things they are learning about their enemy are the most astounding of all.

In the final book of the Witchling Academy, DD Chance ties it all together beautifully, such neat little bows that leave us knowing we have discovered all the truths we've been waiting for in a totally satisfactory manner. No loose ends here! And yet, it still feels as if, should she choose to do so in the future, she could give us more books about any one of the myriad of characters she created. What an imagination she let loose in this wonderful universe of magical academies, and all the amazing realms of the beautiful world of Faery.

And, be ready all you fans of our lady who fancies herself DD Chance here, but who we know to be someone else entirely! You'll be shrieking in excitement when you hit all the Easter eggs dropped all over this final book! I was so excited I was like a little kid on Easter morning with that backyard full of hidden eggs just waiting for me to find them! What a treat it was to find all these little surprises. What fun she must have had writing them!

You did a beautiful job with these Academy series, DD Chance. I loved every one, and this final one the most! That you included my favorite fantasy creature toward the end, and that you made your last line perfectly less mushy makes me want to just hug the stuffing out of you! You knocked this one out of the park, DD, and you should be very proud of yourself! I know I am!

Excellently done, DD Chance! Excellently done, indeed! I'm going to miss everyone in this universe. Guess I'll have to revisit regularly just to say hi to all of my Academy buds!

“Taming the King” is the conclusion to “Witchling Academy” Trilogy by D.D Chance, her third series set “Boston Magic Academy” world (After “Twyst Academy” and “Monster Hunter Academy”). The series have everything I love in academy and classical slow approach to romance.

“I need a wife” was about the last sentence Belle was expected to hear for teaching magic to Aiden, but Belle would do anything the keep her won people safe, anything… even marrying the most infuriating, presumptuous, and full of himself High King of the Fae, but every single time you make your peace with fate, fate has new ideas, such as the King of the Fomorians kidnapping you to his own realm to make you his bride. And suddenly marrying a Fae King doesn’t seem like such a horrible idea 😉 except… when that pertinent Fae King has a visceral reaction to the situation and starts a war. And once again is up to Belle to save not only her own, but everyone else even against their own wishes, using every last drop of her magic and calling on every imaginable favor. The final to the trilogy is a non-stop action run to save the realms, while trying to keep the king from each other’s throats.

Belle and Aidan have chemistry to fill a gigantic magic grimoire, Belle is credible, relatable, and fun, fun, fun and His Majesty, the High King of the Fae Aidan the most entertaining Fae TDHD (tall, dark, handsome, with a side of deadly) ever to graze the pages of YA Academy and the King of the Fomorians – despite his dark nature – follows not so far behind.

I have already disclosed in various previous reviews that I’m a huge fan of D.D. Chance writing, by any of her various pen-name incarnations. She writes it, I read it 😊, and never ever have I been disappointed in the least!! Her writing style is unique, a mixture of hardcore adventure and whimsicality, that makes the book simultaneously light and surprisingly deep, with characters that show very real-life qualities in seemingly fantasy situations, an impeccable delivery, action-packed, fast-paced, and still with a carefully character description and a rich rendered YA/NA paranormal fantasy world. Chance possesses a rare gift for storytelling that turns every story into a reader’s delight. While there is not strictly necessary to be acquainted with any of the previous series in “Boston Magic Academy” cycle to enjoy “Witching Academy”, which I will recommend nevertheless, to any reader that due to unknown circumstances have been enjoyed any ‘prolonged stay under some rock’, in a way I envy them for being able to enjoy the previous two series with fresh eyes… except…well no, as any reader can enjoy them anew (once and again)… thus.. win/win for everyone 😊

Taming the King is the third book in the Witchling Academy series and it’s a great conclusion to the series! When the story begins, Belle has been captured by the Fomorian King, she’s quickly released, but with her memory wiped of their time together, so she’s unsure of what happened or if she’s betrayed the Fae King. Regardless of what happened, it’s clear that the battle that’s been looming between the Fae and the Fomorians is about to begin and Belle and Aiden need to gather their troops and some new allies. What will happen once the battle begins and who will be left when it’s all over?

I really enjoyed this series and this book was no exception. Fans of the author will enjoy a couple of surprise cameos, but if the characters are new to the reader, nothing will feel missing or left out. I like Belle and Aiden and have enjoyed seeing how their powers have increased along with their bond. The plot had many twists, some were obvious, so were not so obvious, but all made for a well written story. I’m always sad when a series comes to a close, but I was really happy with how everything worked out and the outlook for Bella and Aiden’s future. I definitely recommend this series!

Once trapped by Lyric the King of the Formorians Belle Hogan is placed in the center of a millenia long war between intractable foes. She is desired and loved by the Aiden King of the Fae and in Fae terms became Aiden’s wife. Will she be used to cause the downfall of the Fae against her will?

A well woven tale of magic, intrigue, love, greed and betrayal Taming the King brings a conclusion to the tale of Belle Hogan, the Hogan witches and the Hogan witches involvement with the Fae; promises made, promises broken, promises kept, promise implied. As with the other novels in the series the story flows along building upon past events and futures to come adding in new characters of interest and bringing back old friends into new situations. DD Chance is a masterful tale weaver reckoning to the Bards of old. The tapestries she weaves are full of color and life pulling you into the tale.

As with all good conclusions the possibilities abound for yet more entertaining and delightful tales. Tales that might be familiar or might spring in an entirely unexpected direction as the depth and breadth of her fantasy worlds continue to expand. As far the next tale, sign me up whatever direction the story goes!

This book was written in the same style I myself write in leave all characters open. I enjoyed this journey and know ill be dreaming of these characters and the possible futures.

The ending was good, I still have a few in answered questions but they are not crazy important ones that leave us readers disappointed in anyway. I don't like to write spoilers so you'll find none here sorry! Just down load and get all you wonders and possibilities answered the best way!!! Read read read let this story and its crazy war hungry world rule your imagination for a bit.... It a great mental vacation!!

Passion, confusion, doubt, hope, revenge, betrayal, loyalty but above all compassion and love wins the day.

This is the last and final book of the Witchling Academy Series. The story begins where the last ended. Our heroine, Belle, finds herself whisked away again. She is captured by the Formorian King and released with confused and disjointed memories. She must fight through confusion, sift through the untruths, and misinformation and save not only earth but also the fae realm.

Great ending.

Taming the King is a fitting end to the Witchling Academy. Unexpected visitors and surprises made it even better.

This story picks up at the end of Tempting the King. Belle is in the hands of the enemy of the Fae after betrayal comes again from the White Mountain Coven.

Aiden is on the hunt and when Belle returns it leads to revelations throughout the final story. This book kept my attention from the beginning and I was pleasantly surprised with how the arc ended. Definitely recommend.

WHAT A BRILLIANT UNEXPECTED FINALE! A tale that captures you from the outset, keeps on taking you to unexpected places and bursts in a wonderful, magical, climax! A truly enthralling finale to an excellent series. A MUST READ! Where the author dreams up the ongoing coherent plot and characterisation I really do not have a clue!

The first of the stories with a proper ending and not a cliff hanger of which I am NOT a fan!!! The characters. are well developed (mostly if you have read the former 2 books) and it is enjoyable to read how brains over bronze can succeed! WAH WHOOOO!!!!

The third and last book of the series. It is a good book with a lot of twists and turns. I think the ending lacks something, Aidan and Belle have their happily ever after, and King Lyric that had sacrificed so much for his people, he just decides it's time for him to die which is very sad.
