Grim Lockton is the biggest, roughest, and surliest member of our monster hunter team. And he hates me.
From the moment I set foot on Wellington Academy’s campus, the brutally fierce hunter has kept me off balance with cutting insults and cryptic taunts, his pale gold eyes full of withering disdain. To him, I’m nothing more than monster bait.
Despite his sneers, I can’t help watching Grim, wanting to understand him…get close to him. And maybe I hope he wants me, too. That the bone-melting heat I feel building between us is real.
Wrong on all counts.
With a shocking betrayal, Grim launches a winner-take-all monster war that threatens to destroy everyone I’ve come to love at Wellington Academy. But there’s more to Grim’s story than he’s ever shared, and when the truth comes out, it shatters everything I thought I knew about monsters, the academy—and Grim himself. Now, I just can’t quit my savagely beautiful monster warrior…
This was a book that concluded all its singularity plots of each book. Tying up any loose ends with answers to questions. The climax roughly started around 70ish% and went to the very last page of the book. I’m unsure if this is the final in Nina’s series though as there wasn’t any chapters after the conclusion of the fight. This series is known for its gabbing, talking out the issues over and over and over again until your eyes cross. Which is also what happened in the last few pages of the book. They talked and made plans, Grim didn’t accept or deny that they all refused to close the borders, and he’s the Asante (aka king) from the monster lands. Also, I’m a little confused over Nina’s dad. So much information is thrown at the reader in quick conversation that I’m unsure if Nina’s dad, the grey warloc would have accepted her as his daughter. I thought the pages of her mother’s letter would have made a difference in how he viewed Nina, but it wasn’t brought up when they saw her dad. So there was a lot left to be desired, which is why I’m unsure if this is the last book for Nina and her men. I’m very thankful that Grim didn’t actually betray Nina. The beginning of the book quickly changed from her being in a jail cell to her being broken out and hurled away from the Hallowells mansion. Grim showed up as a snow leopard and Nina rode him right into the monster lands. Where she was tested to see if she can unite all the monsters and monster lords. Besides the amount of gabbing happening, it was a decent end to the series’s. Glad I read it.
I was hoping for a spin off series of books, this series was so good I hated to see it end.The collective will live on and prosper.Thumbs up to the author.
