I want to give this 5 stars but the authors retelling of the exact same story in different books gets very annoying. It's a poor attempt to show perspective. You end up reading the exact same things again with minimal to no additional data added. I'll go as far as to say if you removed that you might have three books. Yes, it's that bad. And she loves using the f-bomb...it's overdone and the story overly relied on sex to the point where as a reader you stopped looking forward to it. And I love a good sex scene but I started to skip it. The only great thing about it is that it was fun reading about God. It's forced me to do research of my own. I hope she does something else in a different universe that ignores these books but maybe touches on some of the same/different mythology, that was really fun. This author did excellent work with bringing life to the Gods.
I read book one. It was great. I may have screamed at Persephone a couple of times for her willingness to believe complete strangers and people who actively hate her over the man she's.... well we all know, and also her complete lack of self awareness and self preservation and her eagerness to believe the worst of this man so claims she love but it was overall a good read and very well written 👏🏽 Also, I'm just not willing to read 6 more books of the same shenanigans. If it were some different pairings, sure, but throughout 7 books, and they can't figure their relationship out yet? Nope, I don't have the patience
Theres 7 books in this series, not 6. Although I read them in a questionable order, i enjoyed every single one of them. Although hades perspective is a little less enjoyable (personally), they must be read to uncover secrets not told in Persephone's perspectives. Fully, fully recommend. Not a second wasted reading this series!
These series is a must read for Hades & Persephone lovers 🩷 the only reason that I wouldn’t give it 5 starts is that does get slightly repetitive sometimes, but overall it’s amazing
If you like fantasy romance, you will devour this series!
This is a series based off Greek mythology, highlighting Hades and Persephone. I have read a couple other stand-alones and series, based off this couple, yet this is by far my favorite one!!
A Touch of Darkness starts off setting the scene with Persephone as a college student. She is told to avoid contact with the Gods AT ALL COST, her mother is NOT a fan. However, as a college student, she wants to have fun with her friend and makes an exception. Her exception leads her bumping into Hades!
Her growth in this series is amazing! She goes from timid college student to literal Queen of the Underworld. Yet, does Scarlett St. Clair (Author) follow the Greek Mythology where Hades and Persephone hate each other and have a time-share agreement? Or do they have an epic romance and are truly fated for each other? Can they make it through the series without turning on each other with all Court Olympus’ court intrigue?
The tension is unreal in this series! Both from our main couple as well as side characters along the way. You will get drawn into their story as you get both of their POV. This is a dual POV, you get Persephone’s POV in books 1,3,5 and 7 and then Hades in books 2,4,6, and 7. I cannot express enough how well executed their POVs are done! There are chapters that are exceptions to the rule above; however, it’s mainly Hades' or Persephone's POV. That means you can read this series in order OR in tandem, in sets of 2!
Not to mention the immense love of side characters; I adore how Hermes and Hecate are portrayed! I started reading this series shortly before my daughters started their Greek Mythology unit at school (their school does school wide social study unit theme). Which made it more memorable to me; as we were all learning more about this Methodology at the same time! St. Clair does a phenomenal job at putting her own twist; while clarifying differences and inspirations at the ends of her books. So, if you like a fun romance read through or like to dive in deeper--you can do both with this series!
Some of my favorite quotes: “You called me a witch” “You are a witch.” “It was the way he said it, like it was an insult.”
He hated himself for what he was about to do, “Hermes! I need your…help.”
“I will give you the world.” “I don’t need the world,” she said, “I just need you.”
“You want to fuck me with this crown; I want to fuck a god.”
“I see the soul. What burdens it, what corrupts it, what destroys it — and challenge it”
There are many tales of the Underworld’s infamous king, but few capture the intoxicating tension between darkness and devotion quite like the Hades x Persephone Saga. Across six indulgent volumes, Hades emerges not merely as a god of shadows, but as something far more dangerous… a lover capable of burning the world for the woman who has captured his heart.
And what a book boyfriend he is.
This version of Hades walks the delicious line between ruthless ruler and devastatingly tender partner. His infamous “touch her and face my wrath” energy simmers beneath nearly every scene, yet it is the softer glimpses of him that linger the longest. Beneath the power, the danger, and the ancient authority lies a god who loves fiercely and completely.
As for Persephone, our heroine certainly tested my patience from time to time. Her choices occasionally left this humble columnist clutching her pearls in exasperation. Yet that frustration is part of what makes the journey so compelling. Persephone’s growth, missteps, and stubborn independence create a dynamic that keeps the tension between these two divine forces constantly shifting.
And the chemistry?
Positively electric!
The intimate moments between Hades and Persephone practically smolder on the page, their attraction written with a heat that feels impossible to ignore. The passion between them is not simply physical, but emotional and magnetic, giving their relationship the kind of intensity that keeps readers turning pages long into the night.
What truly makes this saga memorable, however, is the balance between darkness and devotion. Power, politics, divine drama, and romance intertwine throughout the series, creating a world where gods love deeply, rule ruthlessly, and occasionally make spectacularly chaotic decisions.
In short, dear readers, if you enjoy a dangerously devoted book boyfriend, divine drama, and a romance that burns as brightly as the fires of the Underworld itself, the Hades x Persephone Saga is well worth the descent.
Lady Pagewhisper’s final verdict: The Underworld has rarely been so alluring… nor so passionately defended by its king.
And with the final page turned, one cannot help but feel that the gates of the Underworld have closed on a saga that will linger long after the last whisper of myth fades.
There are 7 books in total, not 6, but anyways. I just finished the whole series. I need emotional support :') So I would like to begin with saying that Persephone annoying the living sht out of me in a touch of ruin and a game of retribution, she was the reason I stopped being excited about the series. Honestly the second book was a hard read for me, she made me so mad I was cursing her the whole time lol. But after the last 2 books, a game of gods, and especially a touch of chaos, I love her, I love them, Hades didn't annoy me, yes he made some stupid decision but he wasn't annoying. I can't believe I actually finished the series, it's absolutely worth it u guys, I'm so emotionally attached I don't think I'll be able to enjoy another book. I finished the last book like 15 minutes ago and I already miss them and I'm thinking to start reading them again from the very beginning. I don't care what others say, I love everything about the series. Well, almost everything. Did Scarlett really have to kill Apollo? Did she? Was it really that necessary? Nuh uh, bring my boy back. Overall, it was extraordinary

The A Touch of Darkness (Hades & Persephone) by Scarlett St. Clair completely won me over. I’ve always loved the mythology behind Hades and Persephone, their story is just so compelling and iconic, and this series made me fall in love with it all over again.
I absolutely loved this saga. Like, truly loved it. For me, its up there with series like ACOTAR and Fourth Wing in terms of how much I enjoyed it. That’s how good it felt to read.
One of my favorite things is how the author took a classic mythological story and turned it into a modern setting. That twist made everything feel fresh, addictive, and really fun to follow. It kept the essence of the myth while making it more relatable and engaging.
The characters? I’m obsessed. The plot? I loved every second of it. Everything just worked for me, the romance, the tension, the world, all of it.
I gave every book five stars without hesitation. It’s a 10/10 recommendation from me. I genuinely couldn’t get enough of this series. I love it, I love it, I love it.
“Respect could build an empire. Trust could make it unbreakable. Love could make it last forever.”
I read these this year and I must say, for me to still be feeling the feels, months later, it just shows you how good this series really is.
We have Persephone who comes into her own person and really grows as a character. Her personality is beautifully written and easy to read. She goes from innocent and fragile (with underlying genuine emotions) to a fierce woman with WATCH ME vibes.
Hades is a yum for me. He’s protective and delicious. I loved how he was always working an angle and the room. Along with that he actually has real character growth as a man. I mean who doesn’t love that?
Honorable mention goes to the side characters. I enjoyed all the friendships.
If I could give 6 stars I would. I am absolutely in love with this series! Scarlett St. Clair has crafted a world full of passion, power, and emotion, and the tandem perspective—seeing both Hades’ and Persephone’s sides—makes the story feel so rich and immersive. Every choice, every heartbreak, and every moment of desire hits harder because you feel it from both sides of the love story.
The characters are layered and compelling, the romance is intense and addictive, and the mythology woven throughout adds depth and beauty. This saga kept me hooked from the very first book to the final page, and I savored every twist, every emotional beat, and every steamy scene. If you love dark, swoon-worthy romance with complex characters and epic stakes, this series is an absolute must-read.
I read these books over a year ago. They still live rent free in my head. I absolutely love Scarlett’s writing and have read every one of her books since. The writing is easy to follow along, there’s like the perfect amount of fantasy, romance, plot, emotional damage, and spice! Nothing seems to be lacking. I miss Hades & Persephone. If you love mythology, retellings, and an FMC who grows strong before your eyes then read this series! I got my sister hooked and she is currently reading Malice and Gods! She said giving her the first book was one of the best things I have done
I really enjoyed how this series goes from Persephone being a "normal" twenty five year old to her evolving to the Queen of the Underworld and its psychological consequences. However, the story leaves so many loose threads! What happens to Ariadne and Dionysus? How does Dionysus cope with losing his Maenads? How do Hades and Persophone cope with all of the aftermath? How do they cope with wanting a child but not being able to have one? There are enough loose threads to merit a last book! But I did enjoy the series!

Love the series and read all 7 books but from book 5-7, felt that the direction of the remaining books went little bit sidetracked with some of the character deaths and persephone's character development. Also kinda disppointed that the ending was summerise to Persephone's coronation but there's still alot of unfinished things for some of the other characters. Hope that AxH & DxA books will cover up the ending of the series.

Loved this book. Loved both perspectives. First book is Persephone perspective second book is Hades and continues alternating. Some parts in Hades books are repetitive but SO worth the read to see his POV and what’s happening in his involvement in the world. Love that it’s Greek mythology with a modern aspect so it’s not foreign to a reader like myself who knows nothing about Greek mythology. Great romance book as well. The descriptions were done so well.
LOVED this series! Very spicy but the character development with Persephone was beautiful and dark. However, I wish there was more to the battles and fighting and just a little less sex. Not that I did not enjoy the spicy parts but it did get slightly repetitive with what they were doing. All in all, still loved the series.

Initially when I began this series I struggled with Greek Gods in Modern time. But after the first few world and character building chapters it was as if they always belonged. I did find the back and forth of POV became tedious at times. But, if you can really try and hang out for the last couple of books.
The first one was really good and I really devoured it. But the rest of the books are really not for me. I really feel that it could've been better if it was not this long like there are a lot of unnecessary things and i can't even talk about persephone cause she really is just annoying as f***. Surprisingly though, I've loved hades' pov more than persephone.
The phrase left it all on the field doesn't even begin to explain how i felt about this book. This book took me through all the emotions, set me back to rights and then BROKE ME by the end of ATOC! The world building *chef's kiss*. If you have read KBB and QMM, then you know what I mean. Don't get too attached to characters... In all... I would LOVE this in Graphic Audio!
How tf did I even manage to finish this one? Beyond me. I felt like I was reading a book a teen may have written for fun. The writing style was not it lol. I could barely finish the 1rst novel. I won't be continuing sadly.
I received book 1 in a Blind date with a book, and let me tell you... I was obsessed right from the start. Totally hooked! Finished all 7 books in less than a week! Love the personalities, love Persephone and Hades! Love Hermes!! And LOVE all the spice!
Loved every bit! Must say it is a hard read in the beginning but I ate all books up XD Wont spoiler anyone but if you’re someone who likes googeling during reading and are interested in Greek mythology this is one for you!! (Spice level: high)
Absolutely loved this series. I absolutely love Greek mythology and lore, and this series really blends it in well with a modern adaptation. The yearning from Hades is chefs kiss, and when they finally clash and it keeps on coming is perfection for me.
