Rate this book
Burgers, rib-eyes, and brisket are tasty and satisfying, but they’re not the only way to pack a carnivorediet with nutrients. In Carnivore in the Kitchen, popular TikTok creator Courtney Luna shares herapproach to making a meat-centric way of eating exciting and sustainable. This is more than a cookbook. It begins with a deconstruction of popular meat-based diets—the lion diet, the more traditional carnivore-style diet, and the broader animal-based diet—to help you differentiatebetween them and empower you to carve out a dietary path that works with your preferences andlifestyle.Courtney follows this overview with chapters devoted to helping you start your carnivore journey, offeringtips for setting up your kitchen and stocking your fridge, freezer, and pantry. She also provides curatedmeal plans and grocery lists, which take the stress out of answering everyone’s favorite question, “What’s for dinner?” The carnivore lifestyle can work for the whole family, and in a chapter devoted to an animalfoods–based diet for kids (which also includes fruit), Courtney explains how to emphasize nutritionwithout demonizing foods. She keeps one foot grounded in traditional carnivore practice by explaining the basics of preparingdifferent cuts of meat, which helps you build your confidence in the kitchen. Then she takes you beyondthe conventional with recipes that offer a more expansive range of flavors but are still 100 percentcarnivore friendly. The recipes ensure guilt-free nourishment without grains, gluten, sweeteners, orvegetables, but for those who want a hint of “naughtiness,” she offers a bit of indulgence with optionalvanilla, cinnamon, and other seasonings. You’ll be able to let your carnivore spirit run wild with recipes like• Breakfast Meatballs• Smoked Salmon Blinis• Creamy Sausage Soup• Liver Burgers• Lasagna• Carnivore Cinnamon RollsWhether you are carnivore diet devotee or are just looking to try something new, Carnivore in the Kitchenencourages experimentation and innovation by inspiring you to go beyond traditional meat dishes anddiscover new preparations and flavor combinations you never thought possible!

So this isn't bad. I really like how she comes up with a lot of recipes that gets your wheels turning on making some items that you use to eat. Or help you avoid meat fatigue. But, these recipes are heavy in dairy. So if you are sensitive or some would say would stall their weight loss, these recipes aren't the best for you.

Also, in the beginning, she really goes into the basics of being a carnivore. Like, super basics of carnivore. So if you are a seasoned carnivore, you are paying for a lot of information you already know. So with that, I am glad I got the kindle book and didn't pay a lot of money for the paperbook version.

If you are new or looking into what it is like to be a carnivore, the beginning is perfect for you.

All in all, if you are looking to change things up on your carnivore journey, Courtney Luna offers some good options for that.

Great book that highlights the different versions of carnivore, with recipes that are unique and look delicious! Everything looks very simple to make, and there are photos for each and every recipe which is hard to find in cookbooks. I was salivating over the “simply meats” chapter, and I can’t wait to try the prosciutto egg cups. There’s even a recipe for mozzarella sticks 😋

If you absolutely hate produce and carbs, this cookbook is for you. It’s all about the meats & the meat sweats. It’s a rip off of the Adkins diet. At least with Suzanne Somer’s version of this diet & yes, it is a diet - you get some veggies & fruit. This might work for you in the short term to lose some weight, but diets like this are not satisfying or sustainable. Hard pass on all the recipes. I did find it funny that ground up pork rinds are now pork flour. 🤣 Might as well go on Ozempic.

Delicious and Creative Take on Carnivore

These are do-able, delicious recipes for those starting out on a Carnivore diet as well as those individuals looking for a little inspiration. Beautifully illustrated and containing extras like a meal plan and grocery list for various types of carnivore/animals based diets, as well as how to approach this lifestyle with kids, this cookbook is wonderful! If you follow Courtney on social media it reads like she’s speaking with you and adds that special down home personal touch. I purchased this in Kindle format and was not disappointed in how it looked.

This is a must have book for anyone who’s not just carnivore but animal based, keto, ketovore, low carb. There’s something for everyone and the recipes are fairly simple to follow. There are recipes on almost every page that I want to make, which is rare for cookbooks. Who knew meat based could be so decadent?!

Amazing recipes

These recipes seem so great. I eat low carb but have not attempted carnivore bc of the lack of variety of foods. These recipes show how creative one can be eating carnivore. I plan to give it a try!

Excellent Book! The Carnivore Diet is explained in detail and Courtney’s life story is inspirational. Her recipes are super easy to follow and easy to make. Our family loves the ideas presented in this book: high protein and no carbs. Our son has lost 40lbs and his anxiety and panic attacks have gone away.
My son especially loves making her carnivore pizza (carnizza & meatza) and her carnivore bread.

The only issue I have with the book is that the index could be MUCH better. For example if you look up pizza there is no listing for pizza.
She has listed it under carnizza recipe in the index. Well, everything in the book is carnivore. lol.

And the bread is not listed under bread. For some reason it is listed under pork panko. Every recipe that uses pork panko is listed under P under pork panko. Very strange and quite frustrating.

I wrote a cookbook once and spent weeks & weeks arranging the index and sub reference links, etc.
I can tell the index in this book was very rushed. A LOT more attention and detail should have gone into the index.

But I love the book anyway. I am writing my own notes in the index as I use it. Hopefully she will edit and update the index for her next printing.

I highly recommend this book if you’re interested in the carnivore diet :)

As a courageous Carnivore, Courtney Luna took on the cravings of her fellow Carnivore Lifestyle family members with aplomb. She rose to the challenge of not only creating inspirational recipes that are tastier than the traditional grain-based fate, but won back years of her life. She is giving each of us the same tools and tactics to extend our lives, protect our bodies from the degradation of consuming the Standard American Diet of carbs and sugar, by providing easy-to-use recipes for when the usual BBBE just needs a little variation. I have made most of the recipes in her book. I love them all.

So helpful for my ketovore lifestyle. Great explanation at the beginning of her story and how to start carnivore. This would be more for me after I finish my weightloss journey and continue. Cheese slows me down, so I need to forego cheese for a while. But this has been monumental for me to have simple recipes with minimal ingredients to feed our daughter. She liked the tuna pattie melts.
