Caroline Cooney knew in sixth grade that she wanted to be a writer when "the best teacher I ever had in my life" made writing her main focus. "He used to rip off covers from The New Yorker and pass them around and make us write a short story on whichever cover we got. I started writing then and never stopped!"
When her children were young, Caroline started writing books for young people -- with remarkable results. She began to sell stories to Seventeen magazine and soon after began writing books. Suspense novels are her favorites to read and write. "In a suspense novel, you can count on action."
To keep her stories realistic, Caroline visits many schools outside of her area, learning more about teenagers all the time. She often organizes what she calls a "plotting game," in which students work together to create plots for stories. Caroline lives in Westbrook, Connecticut and when she's not writing she volunteers at a hospital, plays piano for the school musicals and daydreams!

⚠️WARNING MINOR SPOILERS ⚠️

This was a very weird book for me on one hand I hated it because it was so boring and slow but on the other hand I loved it. I don’t really know why but I read 37% of it then just stopped for about half a month then randomly one day just in one sitting decided to read the rest, which I loved.
I actually really liked the characters of the spring family although they were weirdly psychotic at times like when Jodie snapped and threw the chair and also the weird part where the family was just casually talking at the dinner table about how they’d like to kill Hannah. Also Reeve, I hated him in this book it became very clear all he cared about in Janie was her body in a creepy way that doesn’t really show up in the first book. And based off the plot of the third book he doesn’t get any better. This book was very poorly done in terms of characters. It is a light 2/5 4/10.
Like my friend said you should only really read the first half of it to get the closure about the end of the last book after that it drags on a lot.

Good read, from the other perspective. Looking forward to the next in the series.

The first book and this one could have been combined into one book. The story is dragged on too far.
