When mysterious green circles arrive around the world, with the promise of ‘transformation’ for those that touch them, there are mixed views about what to do, and about who has sent them and why. Can they be trusted? What happens to those that dare to trust and will the world change as a result? “This book speaks to our fears and mistrust and the atmosphere of aggression that most of the world has been infected with. The reader is taken inside a character’s mind and then squeezed gently until they are oozing emotion. The ending is like a sad parting from an old friend.” Cherry Mosteshar. The Oxford Editors.

Thought provoking, and very readable story exploring the concept of empathy. It includes true histories of people seeking asylum, powerful testimonies - woven into a science fiction genre, sounds strange but it works. It has prompted interesting conversations around our dinner table!

Empathy is the main theme, but it's a very interesting book & we all liked the way it was written. There's one area that put some off w/ descriptions (from a man's view) of a sexual experience, but other than that, there was very little negative response. There are really tough areas to read about around asylum seekers - makes you think about that and how the countries where they are trying to escape to don't give them the proper support.

I wasn't happy w/ ending, but when I rethought about theme & the person who experienced it - made sense.

The woman (Ella) in our group, who recommended this book/ran the discussion invited the Author to join us via Skype - it was neat, he seems a happy, unassuming Brit living in Oxford, totally surprised at all the positive reviews he is getting. He self published the book not expecting to break even & so far has not w/ about 600 books sold. So if you're ready for a different kind of book, read this one and spread the word if you do like it. The author works w/ asylum seekers in the UK (2 characters in the book are true accounts of 2 asylum seekers he knows) and if he ever makes a profit on the book, 1/2 of the profits it will go to that cause.
