Im Anschluss daran war er 25 Jahren als Reporter und leitender Redakteur bei verschiedenen Printmedien tätig, bevor er sich ganz dem Schreiben von Büchern widmete. Sein früherer Beruf als Zeitungsredakteur hat Einfluss auf seine Kriminalromane, die er für Erwachsene und Kinder schreibt. In seinen Kinderkrimis spiegeln sich Fabian Lenks Erfahrungen als Redakteur und seine Rechercheroutine wider. Elemente des Detektivromans werden verknüpft mit historischen und geografischen Sachinformationen. Umfangreiche Glossare unterstützen das Ziel, den Lesern Informationen über den jeweiligen Schauplatz zu vermitteln. Einige seiner Bücher behandeln auch das Thema Fußball. Dies entspricht seiner Vorliebe für diese Sportart.
Inzwischen sind rund 230 Bücher erschienen, die in 19 Sprachen übersetzt wurden und sich über vier Millionen Mal verkauften.

Kiya hatte einen tollen Auftritt. Ihre Reaktion auf den Papst und wie diese Reaktion wiederum Reaktionen bei den Kindern auslöst, das ist mein Highlight. Der Fall ist auch nicht schlecht. Die Kinder liegen zwar zielsicher daneben, während es dem Leser recht offensichtlich sein dürfte, wer der Täter ist. Aber das ist für mich okay. Mehr stört es mich, dass es so gehandhabt wird, als gäbe es keine kulturellen Unterschiede. Es wirkt, als spiele es mehr bei uns in unsrer Zeit, statt im mittelalterlichen Italien.

Recenzie – “Michelangelo și Culoarea Otrăvii” de Fabian Lenk
Este al zecelea volum din seria “Detectivii Timpului” și este un roman polițist din Italia Renascentistă. Fabian Lenk ne introduce prin această serie de romane într-o călătorie prin diverse perioade istorice alături de Julian, Kim, Leon și pisica lor, Kija.
Destinația din acest volum este Italia în Apogeul Renașterii din 1510 unde vom face cunoștință cu unul dintre cei mai cunoscuți artiști din lume și anume Michelangelo. Cu fiecare pagină citită, cititorii vor afla despre cultura, tradițiile, obiceiurile, nivelul de trai, legislația și multe altele despre perioada menționată anterior. Aici se mai adaugă geografie, arhitectură, arme, bani și vestimentații.
Capela Sixtină, Podul Îngerilor, Castelul Îngerilor, Piazza Navona, Piazza Rusticucci și Piazza San Pietro sunt puncte cheie în desfășurarea acțiunii. Vom învăța despre cât de greu este să te faci cunoscut în lumea artei, cât și consecințele emoțiilor refulate care în mare parte duc la comiterea unor fapte oribile. Prezența statuilor cu îngeri și a lăcașurilor de cult, scenele în care marele artist este blând cu personajele principale și stilul artistic unicat pot fi considerate „o explicație” pentru motivul pentru care Michelangelo a fost numit Il Divino (cel divin) de-a lungul vieții lui.
Aventură, investigații, călătorie în timp, suspans, răsturnare de situație, mister, trădare și loialitate sunt câteva dintre lucrurile pe care le veți descoperi de-a lungul poveștii. Romanul în sine poate fi considerat o filă ruptă dintr-o carte de istorie.
Domnul Lenk este printre primii scriitori care ne demonstrează că putem să-i învățăm pe cititori istorie și să-i introducem în bucuria lecturii în același timp folosindu-și cunoștințele, documentarea și imaginația pentru a crea o operă de artă educativă și captivantă.
Felul Kijei de a se comporta se aseamănă cu Watson, pisica Agathei din seria „Agatha Mistery” de Sir Steve Stevenson, care îi ajută pe eroi să rezolve diverse cazuri. Există momente când aceasta ne dă impresia că nu este o pisică obișnuită după felul cum acționează în diferite situații. Deși nu sunt înrudiți, eroii romanelor din seria Detectivii Timpului sunt exemplul muncii în echipă. Curajoși, isteți și gata pentru o nouă aventură, cei trei copii sunt gata să rezolve un caz nou.
Recomand acest roman cititorilor începând cu nouă ani.
Review of „Michelangelo and the Color of Poison” by Fabian Lenk:
It’s the tenth book from “The Time Detectives” series and it’s a detective story from Italy during the Renaissance Era. Through this series, Fabian Lenk introduces us in a journey through different historical settings and time periods along with Julian, Leon, Kim and their cat, Kija.
The destination here is Italy during the High Renaissance in the year 1510, where we will meet with one of the most famous artists in the world namely, Michelangelo. With every page read, the readers will find out about the culture, traditions, customs, standard of living, legislation and many other things in the period mentioned earlier. We may add geography, architecture, weapons, money and clothing.
The Sistine Chapel, the Ponte Sant’Angelo, Castel Sant’Angelo, Piazza Navona, Piazza Rusticucci and the Saint Peter’s Square are key points to the development of the story. We will learn how hard it is to make yourself known in the art world and also about the consequnces of repressed emotions that many times can lead to committing horrible deeds. The presence of the angel statues and places of worship, the scenes in which the great artist is kind to the main characters and his unique art style can be considered „an explanation” about the reason Michelangelo was called Il Divino (the divine one)1 in his lifetime.
Adventure, investigations, time travel, suspense, twist of plot, mystery, betrayal and loyalty are some of the things which will you discover while reading the story. The novel itself can be considered a page ripped from a history book.
Mr. Lenk is one of the first writers, who proved that one can both teach the readers history and make them discover the joy of reading by using one’s knowledge, documentation and imagination to create an educational and captivating work of art.
Kija’s behavior is similar to Watson’s, Agatha’s cat from the “Agatha: Girl of Mystery” series by Sir Steve Stevenson because both cats act like police dogs and help the heroes with their cases. There are moments when she gives us the impression that she’s not a normal cat due to the way she acts in different situations. Although they’re not related, the heroes from The Time Detectives series set a good example of teamwork. Brave, clever and ready for a new adventure, the trio is ready to solve a new case.
I recommend this book to readers 9+.
