WTF????

I’m not sure why I even finished reading this book. The storyline is awful, it centered around a narcissistic asshole male character who is a manipulative, condescending turd. The author needs to get better editors it’s irritating reading gibberish.

Lorenzo, the son of a prominent Mafia Dom, shows who is in charge in his business and in his life. He finds himself in a rather precarious situation and relies on the help of Dr. Sofia Carter. Interestingly enough, she finds that making a deal with the mafia isn’t what she thought and has many “lessons” to learn. Will she be able to get her paralyzed brother into a trial treatment without losing her sense of self?
This book is a good read, with dominance, submission, violence and steamy situations.

I usually love Bratva and Mafia stories but this one left me cold. I only finished it because I thought Lorenzo might have some sudden revelation of a redeeming feature. Spoiler: he doesn’t.

I have never given a one star recommendation before. This book made me uncomfortable.

***Some Spoilers***

I would give this book negative stars if I could. The MMC, Lorenzo, was an abusive narcissist who basically manipulated the MFC, Sofia, into a relationship and into "loving" him. A mafia "prince", he gets whatever he wants and he wants Sofia at his feet. In his quest to get her, he basically r***s/assaults her multiple times in the name of her quote "lust" and for romance, telling her she likes everything he does to her. He has her stalked and followed, threatens her disabled brother, and has her robbed and physically assaulted so that she will turn to him for a relationship and protection. There are intimacy/s** scenes that are cringe-worthy and abusive such as ones involving a coke bottle, rape, and BDSM. Also, A***S** which I've never seen this author use before but which I absolutely hate. That is just me though. I hate An** S**. I don't understand why it is becoming popular and why some authors think that is romantic. It is not. I think it is degrading and worse in this book, the MFC doesn't even agree to it.

That's not all of it, though, it gets worse. The author has one scene in which after Lorenzo has been intimate with Sofia, he makes her stay half-naked and bent over his desk when his father walks into his office after the act and he then lets his father inspect Sofia. His father then makes sexually degrading comments about Sofia and says his son has made a great choice in her, further encouraging his son to keep on abusing and using her. Sofia then leaves in an angry huff but doesn't run from the situation because of her deal with Lorenzo. Honestly, the MFC has no true self-respect or sense of preservation. Sofia never seems to grow a brain to take care of herself and get out of the situation. Even though she's a doctor she seems pretty dumb about everything. She is a doormat.

This book is, in my opinion, seriously nasty and gross. I'm all for a good mafia romance but this one is just poorly written and crass. If disturbing content with assault and abuse is your thing then go for it. Otherwise, I would suggest you stay away. I will be from the author's books from now on.

On reviewing the author's merits on writing alone, she is problematic to put it simply. There are some editing issues and she underdevelops her characters and plot. This is not the first book of hers that I've read and they are all like that. I will not be reading another Lydia Hall book again. She has a lot of growing to do as an author but I'm not sticking it out to find out if she does. If you like a good mafia romance and an author who has truly grown into the genre that I recommend is Nicole Fox. Go read her. I would avoid Lyida Hall.

This is definitely one DARK suspenseful mafia story that will have you questioning what you are ready, so be ready! When Sofia a top trauma surgeon at Bellevue hospital in NY is kidnapped from her work garage by gunpoint then forced to operate in an abandoned building on a man who will die if she doesn’t. When the men threaten all those kidnapped after successfully saving Lorenzo the next in line for the Italian mob Sofia stands up to them to ensure their safety. Once Lorenzo slowly regains his wits he knows the dreams of the beautiful woman is his and from there he devilishly plans Sofia needing him to keep her. Sofia makes most decisions to protect and care for her younger brother who is paralyzed from an accident and hoping to get him into a trial to see if the treatment will give him his mobility back and some independent life. Lorenzo slowly takes Sofia’s choices from her life by getting control to do as he pleases with her body, soul and mind. Sofia takes her brother and escapes in the middle of the night only to be found weeks later and forced to make a decision of marrying Lorenzo and losing her freedom. When an unexpected situation is revealed to Sofia the darkness since being forced to marry is turned around and they are both able to benefit from his one act of kindness. This story has many triggers - violence, sexual attacks, gruesome deaths, viciousness so please be aware prior to reading if you have any history with those dark themes. Phew! This is a hold on to the edge of your seat type of suspenseful story. This book will definitely leave a lasting impression. It is a dark story and not for the faint of heart. If gangsters, gore, violence, assault, sadism, and sexual assault are triggers, don’t read this story. Those of you who don’t mind that will find that this is a well-written story with complex characters. Lorenzo (MMC) is the son of the most notorious mob boss in New York, and is a dark force to be reckoned with in his own right. Sofia (FMC) is a famous trauma surgeon with a quadriplegic adult brother that she provides care for. The story opens with Sofia being kidnapped from the hospital parking garage while on her way home to care for her brother. She is taken to an abandoned building and is forced to provide emergency surgery on Lorenzo, who had a gunshot wound. Despite the conditions, she is able to save him. However, this is just the beginning of her ordeal. Once healed, Lorenzo doesn’t want to let her go, and is determined to do any and everything to bring her under his control. Sofia does not comply with his demands easily since she does not want to be involved in criminal activity. He blackmails her with her brother’s care. This story is about how they eventually come together, after much struggle. The story was suspenseful because you never knew what was coming next. This was a gripping crime drama that had me up late turning pages. I couldn’t put it down.

Yikes. Spoilers.

I hate to do it but I'm pretty sure this is my first 1 star review. I'm pretty sure there's not much redeemable about this book. The MMC was a delusional narcissist with no good qualities at all and the FMC was the dumbest smart person ever. I was going to dnf at 35% then decided to skim hoping something good was going to happen but no, it didn't. Let's see, the MMC was pretty much sexually abusive (First was dry anal then using a Coke bottle on her, seriously? And the list goes on) but he swore she liked it which she let him get away with it. And the fact she didn't figure out it was him getting her assaulted was ridiculous. The worst part (which is saying a lot) was that he killed his second in command who was super loyal because his dad told him to. Speaking of his creeper dad, the MMC let him pretty much see her almost naked and usually they're super possessive and would freak out, instead he was laughing and saying he wished she would've been naked. There was absolutely no romance and usually in these type of books the MMC does something redeemable but that doesn't happen here. And the ending was stupid too. The author missed the mark quite a bit on this one. I've read plenty of books with these tropes but never one this bad.

Devilish Prince is the third book in The Wounded Hearts series. This book is packed with page-turning mystery, steamy angst, it's deeply emotional and unforgettable journey. Devilish Prince is all about explosive action and deadly suspense, blackmail, danger, and secrets.

Lorenzo is the son of the most notorious mob boss in New York. Sofia is a famous trauma surgeon who is caring for her brother. It was supposed to be a simple fake relationship that would benefit them both. They are complete opposites yet compliment each other so well, making them an unlikely couple. The complexity of their relationship development is perfectly woven and told.

A phenomenal read and yet another thrilling addition to this series.

I have read a few books by Lydia and I have to say that while I always like the main female characters, I usually find the male ones problematic. Lorenzo doesn't seem to have any redeemable qualities at all. He gets one of his men to r@pe Sofia's friend, Jen, how could Sofia even fathom being with someone who would harm her friend? I would kill someone who did that. Also, we never find out what happens to Jen after she is kidnapped and brought to the cabin, she just completely drops out of the story. Lorenzo had no sort of redemption arc in this story at all, there was zero growth. The two main characters didn't seem to like each other very much when they weren't in bed. I was kinda baffled by the time I got to the end. That being said, the book was well written, so I can't give it any lower than four stars. If you don't mind a main character with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, you will definitely enjoy this.

One important thing - the book didn't have any trigger warnings, which is poor form, if you're going to write in a scene with r@pe in it, warn your readers!

I made a Goodreads account so that I could give this a one star review. Honesatly deserves a -100, but that's not an option here.
This book is so awful it made me question my sanity. The MMC here is a rapist and an abusive a**hole. No, he doesn't sexually 'spank' her, he straight out slapped her when she refused to have s*x with him the way he wanted. His 'companion' raped her friend to the point she was bleeding. Don't even get me on his weird relationship with the father. MMC had his way with her, and then left her naked in front of his father and both made crude comments about her body.
All of this ends not with the FMC putting a bullet through his head, but instead sucking up to him in the last chapter because he 'saved' her brother. (not really)
Man this was horrifying. Literally a woman's worst nightmare. I have read my share of dark romances but this is not it. Domestic abuse is not dark romance. Sexual assault is not dark romance. I expected an average of 1 star rating here because wtf. Can't believe I read this crap so early in the morning. I'm never touching any of this author's books again. Y'all stay safe

Devilish Prince The Wounded Hearts Series is Lorenzo and Sophia's story. Lorenzo is the son of the Italian Mob Boss in New York. Sophia is a famous trauma surgeon at Bellevue Hospital in New York. Lorenzo's men kidnapped Sophia from the hospital parking garage after work and put her in a van. She is taken to a warehouse where other hospital personnel are waiting. Lorenzo has a gunshot wound to the chest and Sophia is to operate or he will not make it. Lorenzo doesn't want to let Sophia go after he is healed. He decides to make things happen to Sophia, so he can control her in different ways. Story contains manipulation, danger, suspense and steamy scenes.

DNF’d at 73%

Major disappointment. The MMC, Lorenzo, was a power hungry narcissistic bully. The FMC, Sophia, had the potential to be a badass but she completely relented to Lorenzo the moment he started touching her. Also for supposedly being brilliant, it took her an embarrassingly long time to figure out Lorenzo was behind her misfortune. He treated her like garbage, manipulated her into making a deal with him, abducted her quadriplegic brother, let his creepy ass father smack her in the face, and these are just some of the messed up things he put Sophia through. He was weirdly whipped by his dad and even killed his loyal right hand man because his dad told him to.

It was a rough read from the start but I had to nope out when Lorenzo allowed his new right hand man SA Sophia’s best friend/coworker to “teach her a lesson”.

Sophia was a weak character and it was honestly pathetic. I don’t mind a morally gray MMC but Lorenzo was an unlikable unredeemable abusive piece of shit. I regret reading as much of this book as I did.

★ "You think you can tame the devil?' - Definitely devilish and dark ★

Lorenzo was brought back from the brink of death by a crew of medical personnel kidnapped and then forced to do his men’s bidding in a last-ditch effort to save his life. Once he was healed enough, however, his next campaign was to keep this angel of a doctor, Sofia, by his side and in his bed, seeing how perfectly she can benefit his mafia family when he steps up to take over his father’s legacy. He does not hesitate to tighten the screws to do so, using every (dark-mafia-level-unethical/triggering) trick in the book and pulls every tarnished string he can to get exactly what he wants, including using Sofia’s weaknesses…and they hit her like bundles of TNT, hard and ruthlessly to exact utter control over her. I thought the ending could have been stronger; it felt more like the end of a chapter than a conclusion to their story to me. But all in all, a dark mafia romance on the upper scales.

This book is an insult to women and doctors. If you keep reading this dominant mafia trash hoping that the heroine will act like a professional trauma doctor don't bother. The woman is remains the whore that her dominant ahole abuser says she is. Her sense and willpower are trumpted by her acceptance/pleasure of being continually raped and humiliated by her abuser. The "prince" strives to control her with violence and threats in order to control her with an unearned position as Chief of Surgery so that he cam improve his image while really seeking to control hospital admissions and treatments. When the main threat that ensures her cooperation, her paraplegic brother, is miraculously healed after 10 days of a forced marriage, she still does not act. This farce ends with being hailed for her presentation on hospital safety and cleanliness as she runs off to kiss her mafia husband. No mental or emotional breakthroughs here.

he was not redeemable. she was weak and a whore.

he rapes her, abuses her, has people steal and threaten her (also how did she not know it was him ordering this, it was quite apparent, shes so fuckin dumb), he rapes her ass and then let's his father see her naked and make degrading comments, he has her friend raped and beaten, he kidnapped her physically disabled brother.

all the sex scenes are rape and cringe. there is no love or intimacy. she has betraying body syndrome. it's pathetic.

he allows her brother to take part in a trial, a trial she could get him in let's be honest, and then all is fixed. she loves him and forgives everything he has done. he does not redeem himself in any way.

no love, no character depth, no real reason for all his actions. it's all about him fucking her and controlling her.

someone needs to tell the author to stop writing. it's not for her. she is terrible.

We’ll written but hateful relationship.

This story is about a Dr who is kidnapped to save a man. He decides to have her. The lengths he goes shows him to be beyond morally corrupt and does not allow the time to develop a true relationship. He even has her best friend raped to get her location when she flees from him!!!! I just could not recover from that. Then he or actually rapes her on repeat in front of men the wedding planner and others. It’s beyond normal tough male character. Beyond dark. He’s just horrible. And suddenly it’s all good because he pays for her brothers treatment!!! No. Just no. I wish I had not read this.

With that said, the writer is a good writer and the story flowed well without any issues. I would try to read her books again. But Develish Prince can go away. The only salvage I see to this story is a rewrite

DNF at 46%. Frankly one of the worst and annoying FMC out there, for a character that is supposed to be so intellectually smart this one seems to frequently forget the MMC is in fact a Mafia prince and does in fact commit illegal acts but no she just has to whine about the MMC being evil and whatnot as if she knows nothing about organized crime — and mind you she knows very well who MMC was and is from the very first moment she saw him in person. I was done with the story way before 46% but tried powering through and yeah no thanks, this one is a skip and a half.

As for the MMC, seems to have no redeeming qualities but I don't quite mind that, what with him being a ruthless Mafia prince and whatnot. Anti-hero and villains are gonna anti-hero and villain 🤷‍♂️

2/5 stars for the idea of the plot only, execution on the otherhand is a negative 5

DNF…No redeeming qualities

This is not a romance, nor erotica nor good mafia. This is a narcissist and a doormat. He doesn’t care about her at all, in any way. She apparently has no spine and just does whatever her “body want” regardless of her thoughts, feelings or morals. Such a cop out! The steamy scenes are nothing great, the story is ridiculous. When he forced the soda bottle, I was done. This wasn’t good story telling, this was only manipulation and abuse. 45% in and I couldn’t go any farther. A good dark mafia romance? I am all in for it. This was not that. Skip this one.

A deliciously dark romance that grips the readers attention as the story is full of suspense, manipulation and very steamy scenes. Sofia and Lorenzo have serious sexual tension after she is kidnapped and forced to save him from a bullet wound in a warehouse. Lorenzo decides upon waking up that he will do whatever it takes to keep her.

There are scenes that Lorenzo just could not be redeemed from. The bottle….nope! And for her being the best trauma surgeon, she exhibited intellectual vapidness when it came to him at times.

This is the third book in this series, and this is Lorenzo and Sophia’s story.
Lorenzo is dangerous and feared mafia prince, and Sophia is a trauma surgeon.
Sophia is kidnapped to save Lorenzo’s life after he is shot, and he wants to keep her in his life, but will he be able to convince Sophia?
This is a well written story which is an action packed, enemies / lovers, and a dark romance, with family, friendships, twists, tension, forced marriage, and love, which leads to an entertaining, twisted, and steamy page turner.

This is one of those books that you read a bit and wonder WTH just happened!
Lorenzo, the Mob Boss and Sofia, the Trauma Surgeon are quite the pair. They are the complete opposite of one another and absolutely the most unlikely couple but this author wove a story that made them utterly and completely perfect for each other. Devilish Prince is a fantastic, fast-paced, insta love story that gives it's readers lots of WTH moments and has us glued to the pages to see what's next. This author was one of my greatest finds in 2023 and I can't wait to see what she has coming for this yea

No Readeaming Qualities

Where do I begin with this book? This book starts off with Sofia being kidnapped by Lorenzos men to save his life, then strikes up a deal with him to provide protection and help for her brother. Lorenzo has no redeaming qualities and even at the end I didn't want Sofia to be with him. He was abusive all throughout the book. Being manipulative to get what he wants, He was just vile. Read with caution and if you have any triggers of abuse then this book is definitely not for you.

OMG! This book was, was one hot tantalising book, I really liked Sofia always trying to protect her brother and would do anything to get the treatment he needs. Lorenzo needed medical help so his men kidnapped everyone they needed for the job, once he woke up, he now wants to keep her. She keeps fighting him at every turn who is going to win in this battle, then she sees her brother smile.

this book deserves absolutely no praise. some people are just not meant to be authors, and this book should never have seen the light of day. from the spelling errors, to the horrible
plot, to the rapist and abusive male lead who allows his father to beat the crap outta the female lead and uses blackmail, extortion and threats to get her to do what he wants, this book is more than a hot mess! 83% of the way in and he says that she’s GROWING ON HIM. GROWING ON HIM?! if you’re coming for romance, RUN. you will not get ANY and you’d find a better book in Twilight.

I wanted to rate this higher, as the author actually writes a villain and creative spicy scenes. Many books claim to do this but don't really. However, at no point were there any redeeming qualities to make the heroine less of an idiot. Also, I am aware that this genre is not aiming to be high level literature, however, I can't help but feel offended on behalf of the disabled community. The brother is a quadriplegic who plays a central role in the story but is given absolutely no dimension, simply used as a prop for the storyline.

Very dark and full of tiggers with dubcon, assault, noncon, and physical violence against women. I thought the beginning plot was pretty good until these OTT elements were added. I am all about steam but it ruined the story for me. Not a fan of hurtful physical manipulation or noncon situations. Author needs to add trigger warnings.

Middling

Not the best or the worst Mafiosa read just the middle of the road. I found this book had quite a cruel storyline with nasty brutish characters nothing particularly endearing about any. Lorenzo the devious nasty distasteful Mafia Prince has nothing pleasant going for him at all and Sofia Carter a brilliant surgeon finds herself trapped in his world what a shame she is weak especially when it comes to her brother. A quite unpleasant story really.

Devilish Prince is a dark mafia romance between Sofia who is a trauma surgeon kidnapped to perform surgery upon Lorenzo, the son of a powerful mafia don, who has a gunshot wound. After surgery, Lorenzo decides to keep Sofia by blackmailing her about her quadriplegic brother. This dark mafia tale has complex characters, a complicated romance, violence, mafia action, and sizzling passion.

I love a controlling alpha male, but I don't think any women likes being slap in the face by her lover/parent/ significant other. It’s one thing getting your ass spanked for being naughty & it’s another thing him hitting you because u disagree with him. This book was overall bad. The main male wasn’t like able, and the female lead for a very smart doctor was kinda weak and clueless. I have read total of 2 books by this author and the other wasn’t any better. Save your money

Not too impressive

The whole book revolves around a dominant mafia boss degrading and selfishly using a doctor for his own benefit. He even went so far as to have one of his men beat and rape her best friend.

The characters are not that well developed and the plot is simple in that there really isn't much of an in depth story other than the male lead pushing his weight around.
