Jacob, who has been working at the Chancellery of the Prosecution for the last ten years, feels that it will take quite some time for him to discern that creeping threat. At first, he attributes it to mere imagination. But the signals are getting stronger, and when an official of the National Commission for Political Issues gave him a veiled provocation, he can no longer deny the reality that his suspicion is true.
