I am a big fan of psychological thrillers, so this sounded right up my alley. I did enjoy the premise, but I did not feel a true connection to the characters as I needed to in order to love the story. Perhaps it was because the story unfolded more like a summing up of events by the main character, instead of allowing me to feel I was immersed and experiencing it with her. I also felt there was a lot of the same dialogue (inner and between characters) repeated for a good portion of the book without moving the plot forward. The story does feature some twists and turns, which I always love, however I figured out all but one before the end (I do read a LOT of these types of stories, though, and others might have some good surprises near the end).
Thanks to Net Galley for a preview of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you to Booksprout for the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of You Can Run by LC George. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I loved the premise of the book. It had many twists and turns throughout and some shocking reveals. The book started out slow and I felt a little confused, but quickly changed and engaged me as a reader. This was a good book. I would recommend it to others. A 4 star book.

I could not put this book down. Yes, it was that good. So many twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat. Will recommend to others.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. If this puts you in mind of the psychological thrillers from Frieda McFadden, then make no mistake, because that's what drew me in.
This is one of the best thrillers I've ever read! The story doesn't just consume you by its gripping plot and its well thought out characters, it leaves you reeling. I could never have guessed how this story ended as there were so many twists and turns that the story took, I honestly didn't know who the bad guy was. I am definitely going to be checking out LC Georges' other novel and probably binge that, too!
This is the second book that I've read by this author and once again, I was absolutely hooked after the first few pages!
I read a lot of psychological thrillers - my favourite genre for sure - and there's a definitely tried and tested formula. You'd think that would help me work things out but I never learn and still spend most of the book trying to work out the clues in my head as I read. This was no exception.
This story is told over two timelines - which I love! - and the "before" chapters had me completely fooled! Being anonymous, I totally decided whose pov it was ....only to be completely shocked on the reveal!
George's writing hooks you in from the first page and I was so immersed throughout, that I struggled to put this one down - I know I say this often, but I am hooked on this edge of my seat feeling while I read. It was exciting, intriguing and full of twists.
The characters were a bit hit and miss for me - I loved Rachel for the most part. She was totally real and believable and her fear of what might happen was palpable. Her hubby, Dan, however, frustrated me in that he totally dismissed her feelings throughout.
Still, this was another amazing read and I can't wait to see what comes next from this author, it will definitely be going on my wishlist straight away!!
Whoa mama! Talk about a pulse pounding thriller! This one had me on the edge my seat and white knuckling my kindle as I read.
This one sure is a doozie and LC George, really knows what she is doing! I mean, I guess I should have known. Last year I read her debut, The Sleepwalker and I was instantly in love with her writing style.
You Can Run, plunges you right into the plot, the description, all consuming, will have you feeling, hearing and fearing, everything around you.
Talk about a real spine tingler .

The anxiety I had reading this book was REAL! This is how you write a psychological thriller, granted it was a slow start as the characters and background builds but once it gets off the ground it is incredibly intense!
We have our main Rachel , daughter of serial killer Dennis who has been released from prison, he was also responsible for the murders of Rachel’s mum and sister when she was an infant. GP Rachel has a new identity and is married to Rob who is a detective inspector with the local police.
There are the “before” chapters of a psychopathic child that keep you guessing trying to work out who it actually is, and my mind changed on that many times throughout the book, and we have Rachel’s chapters in her life after the release of her father and how her life alters dramatically!
This was gripping and I was flying through the pages completely obsessed as the plot unfolded. A twisty - turny rollercoaster that leaves you with whiplash!
Thank you to Netgalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC version of this book in response for my honest review.
Personally, I loved the premise of this book and the twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. Through the novel, readers are able to descend slowly with the MC without realizing it as she starts to question everything and everyone around her with each passing moment. Once the reader realizes that this is happening, the plot becomes even more compelling. I read the majority of this in one sitting! This would be the perfect book for fans of Freida McFadden.
This was a fantastic book. One of the best thrillers I’ve read in a while, it’s going on my favorite reads so far in 2024. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I did figure it out partially but I was also surprised by other parts of the book. Thank you to Netgalley for the arc of the book, I definitely recommend this book. If you are a fan of Frieda McFadden like I am, I think this is a book you’d like.
A bit slow initially but omg, was I invested! I loved the concept and the characters were brought to life so well that I did genuinely care about the outcome. The before sections built so much tension and the way the book was plotted out just works really well! There's a bit action, who dun it, revenge, thriller, so many different aspects in one amazing story line. And yeah, I was completely wrong about his it was all going to play out lol
What a rollercoaster. I’m not sure what exactly happened to be honest. The last quarter of the book just confused me. At some point the killer we thought it was wasn’t the killer and then he was the killer but he wasn’t?
Que livro... E eu a pensar que tinha adivinhado o final, e quando confirmo fico a pensar "eu já sabia"... só que não sabia da missa a metade 😳 É muito bom, envolvente e vale bem a pena!!
Don’t get me wrong, this book had a slow start that confused me and had me rushing to make my own conclusion. HOWEVER! The twists & turns are well worth it!
Rachel has been through a lot, but I hope this experience allows her to show up as herself UNAPOLOGETICALLY now that the truth has been told!
L C George, you have good one!
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for it’s published Jan 13th!
You Can Run by L C George. Rachel thought she’d escaped her father. But now he’s found her. Rachel was barely more than an infant when her father, Dennis, murdered her mother and sister. In prison ever since, Dennis has never said one word about why he killed two family members - or why he spared Rachel. Wow. I really did enjoy this book. I loved the cover. A lot of twists and turns that I certainly didn't expect. I did love Rachel but Dan I didn't like. He annoyed me. Just when I thought I had it sussed I was turned around again. The ending is a shocker. I really didn't expect that. 5*.
Five-star book review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ You can run by L C George
This book was beyond fantastic. Laura knows how to keep the readers on edge! Just by the prologue, I was 100% invested in this. I wasn't at all disappointed. The action started pretty much immediately, which made it really difficult to put down. I turned on my sleuthing skills pretty quick, too, with all sorts of of different scenarios running through my head There was one line in the book that was said around halfway through, and I immediately thought I knew who it was!!! But I was thrown off that train of thought pretty quick. I obviously won't say too much more about that, as I really don't want to give it away. But this is absolutely a must read, it was superb!
Thank you so much, @zooloosbooktours @lcgeorgetheauthor @inkubatorbooks for my spot on this brilliant tour. I loved every word!
This was quite a ride! A wild one and I truly had no idea at the end what happened. It was just a bit hard to keep up with some of the chapters where it went back in time but as I kept reading it became clearer why they were important.
It was also a bit hard to believe what ended up happening at the end of the book but it explained it pretty well. The book was very suspenseful and I truly was on the edge of my seat at times so I definitely recommend this book, be prepared for some real twists and turns!
It's pacey and there's literally something happens on every page, compelling to read 'just one more chapter', even though we all know that doesn't work...yep, I read, and finished another book before bed last night!
I was sold on the plot and became invested in the characters, but couldn't like them enough to form an emotional bond, despite my best efforts.
There are more twists and turns than I could keep up with, and I still couldn't work it out!
You Can Run is the second book I've read and thoroughly enjoyed by George and I cannot wait to read more from her in the future
I really enjoyed this book. It was filled with twists and turns. I was constantly guessing (which I love in books). This had me gripped and needing to know what was going to happen next and who was guilty. The characters were well built written and it was a believable storyline. It is a scary position to be in, and it had me on edge a little. One of my theories was correct, but the others weren't and it was exciting to read the last few chapters. Definitely a shocking page turner.
This psychological thriller had me side-eyeing everyone around me – you never know who to trust! It flips back and forth between the past and present, gradually feeding you the puzzle pieces you're dying to put together. Gotta admit, it took a hot minute for the story to rev up for me, but once it did, I was all in. What kept me on my toes was the little extra plots sprinkled throughout, serving up twists and turns when you least expect them. By the end, I was left feeling a bit weird, like I couldn't trust anyone's version of events.
Now, here's the thing – the story's got some killer twists, but it left me hanging on the "why" part. I get the whole crazy psycho vibe, but uncovering the motive would've added a whole extra layer of intrigue. Despite that, if you're into stories that keep you guessing, this one's got plenty of surprises up its sleeve!
This was the most intriguing book I have read in a while. It took me ages to work out who the “before” section was and I learned never to assume! I really felt for Rach as the story unfolds and ultimately I trusted no one! There were twists and turns I didn’t see coming and even when I thought I knew what was happening I realised I had been duped by a red herring! It is hard to explain anymore without spoilers but I will be recommending this to my friends and family as I loved it!!
What an absolute ride this book was! A psychological thriller, full of twists and turns, keeping you on your toes from the first chapter to the end. Every single time you think you've figured it out, another curve ball is thrown in, just as good, just as mind blowing as the next! The only thing I believe would have given it that extra "UMPH" would have been a little bit more of the why? I understand the concept of a pyscho, but why the way it was done. Overall a solid 4 star read that ticks tons of boxes for the thriller book lovers out there!
ENG REVIEW: A big knot in the brain. That was the feeling I had after finishing this book. Rachel is a woman who spent most of her life running away from her biggest secret: her father, Dennis, killed her mother and sister when she was just a child and that stayed with her throughout her life. After all, who can overcome such trauma? Despite being incarcerated, Dennis could come out at any moment and Rachel is terrified by this idea, not wanting to face such a vile murderer again. But life doesn't go well for Rachel and Dennis is actually released before the time and here begins the whole story that feature the main events of this book. Because Rachel effectively hides from everyone in her life that she is the daughter of a murderer (except her husband) but those around her and her closest friends still have bigger secrets to reveal. I confess that halfway through the book I thought I had already figured out everything and knew how it would end, but no. I was far away and lost and I was completely blown away by the ending. An ending that felt bitter to me, but I understood why it was that way. It's a compulsively readable book, with interesting characters and narrated from the POV of Rachel and another mystery character, who talks about her/himself in the past, only being revealed at the end who it is. I'm just telling you that no one, no one, is innocent in this story, although only a few are truly guilty. Thank you for the opportunity to read this, I really enjoyed it.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the E-ARC of You Can Run by L.C. George. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review and my thoughts are my own,
Wow, this book has left me speechless! In a twisted game of "who can you trust?", L.C. George delivers us a mixed bag of twists and turns, different POVs, and theories galore. Rachel has grown up knowing that she is the center of a grisly crime. The murderer happens to be her father, and her mother and sister are his victims. By the time police arrived, three-year-old Rachel had been found with her father, completely unharmed. Rachel does everything she possibly can to break the links between herself and her past, hoping that it will never catch up with her and nobody will ever know. Now living a relaxed and content life with her husband, Dan, Dennis is released from prison. Strange things start happening, and it can only mean one thing. Dennis is back. The slow burn goes up in flames in this page-turning psychological thriller, and you'll wonder what show you were watching when you aren't reading.
Rachel thought she’d escaped her father. But now he’s found her. Rachel was barely more than an infant when her father, Dennis, murdered her mother and sister. In prison ever since, Dennis has never said one word about why he killed two family members - or why he spared Rachel. Now a grown woman, Rachel has done everything she can to leave her terrible past behind. She has changed her identity and is now happily married to the love of her life, Dan. But there is a dark cloud on the horizon. Dennis is due to be released from prison and Rachel worries that he will kill again, that he may even come after her.
This is my first book by L C George and I have mixed feelings The character development was decent, I found myself a bit disappointed with the MC, I found her to be a bit unlikeable, and I despised her spouse. There were enough twists to hold my interest, but at the same time I felt like there could have been more meat and less filler. All in all, it was promising, but fell a bit flat for me.
Many thanks to Inkubator Books, Net Galley, and the Author for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
