Cascade of Lies #2

Nights of Winter

Rate this book
It’s hard to imagine our pretty little town as anything but picture-perfect.

Or it was, until I got sucked into a tangled web of dirty secrets and lies, trapping me underground with the most unlikely of companions.

The man who broke my heart is now the one to save me.

The man who let me go now won’t leave my side.

The man who’d held me at arms length is now cradling me in his arms.

The man who I despised is no longer so despicable.

And the man who is my best friend seems to be changing the rules of our relationship.

My entire world turns upside down when I learn those closest to me are dancing with danger and hiding dark secrets.

We won’t rest until we uncover exactly what those secrets are and what they mean for our town.

I just don’t think I’m ready for the truth.

-------------------------------------------------------------
Nights of Winter is a reverse harem romance intended for audiences 18+ due to mature content. The harem develops over time and features five very different men who will consume your daydreams. Our lovely lead will not have to choose between her men and the story will eventually end on a HEA, which, as in life, has a few bumps in the road to get there.

This book is not considered a dark romance, but please take care of your needs. A list of TW can be found on my website; www.coraflynnauthor.com.

ARC read

This was a much anticipated read for me as I arc read Coras first book, Day of Winter, which was left on wicked cliff hanger. Now in her second book she left us with a doozy of a cliff hanger that did how disappoint.
The anticipation and angst that Cora leaves us with in these books is wild. Honestly I wasn't sure I was a fan in the 1st book cause these books are DEFINITELY a slow burn...and turns out I love it!
These relationships that are building are gut wrenching and I found myself on the edge of my seat cheering all of them on.
I love the diversity Cora puts into these characters from personality to sexuality.
I can't wait for book three!!! I knew Kellen would play a bigger role eventually!
Keep up the great writing Cora cause I'm in love ❤️

So this book absolutely got even better. The 1st book is a bit of a slow burn and in this book, you see more if her harem and her adding to it. There is more questions answered, but also alot more questions that need answering based on all the twist plots!! *it just keeps you on your toes.

This is the second instalment in the cascade of lies series and I’m really impressed with where the story lines going and the depth it was given in this book . The individual personalities of the boys start to shine, it becomes hard to pick a favourite and keeps you rooting for their found family all while unraveling layers and layers of lies and twists within the town . The town of cascade falls had so much to unpack and will really leave you edging for more

This book should not be considered a “why choose, reverse harem”, because it has barely any smut. This was the most PG RH I have ever read. Also, the plot is a bit confusing to follow with a long list of character names that don’t get much development.

ARC read:
I felt like I wanted MORE throughout this book, more spice (especially now the harem is growing), more substance, more action.

I feel like the club situation is resolved so quickly then we move into just a bunch of fluff and a bit of spice (excuse me Cora a FADE TO BLACK SEX SCENE NO MA’AM WE KNOW WHAT YOU CAN WRITE) and then it picks up a bit again at the end to be left on another cliffhanger. There’s also a thing with her parents just just kind of casually thrown in and not super explored.

Overall I’ll stick with the series as it is enjoyable and I’m loving getting to know Winters men more but I’m hoping book 3 gives a bit more!

I need more!!!

Cora Flynn, this series has been truly wonderful. What did you sprinkle it with, because HOLY MACKIES!!!
I loved getting to know Winter and see her really come into her own. The bond between her and each of her guys is so authentic. I also loved watching how the guys navigated the dynamic of sharing and growing together as a found family.

Nights of Winter is book #2 in the Cascade of Lies series. Is it not a standalone and you must read the first book. This does end on a cliffhanger (and it’s a doozy) and like WTF is going on!? This series is so so good. I really cannot wait till Winter’s End, although I don’t know how I’ll make it till June.

I really love watching Winter’s relationship with the guys continue to grow. It’s still very slow burn, particularly for Cam, Shane and Logan. Cam & Winter have connected, yet he’s not sure about his comfort level or place in the relationship dynamic. Shane and Winter are still painfully oblivious to their love for one another being more than friendship. However, poor Logan is still on he outskirts - but for me personally, he’s weaseling his way into my heart. I can’t wait to see how he finally gets his princess.

I love the spice (see exhibit 🅰️ below and also why Travis is my favorite⬇️.) and the bi-awakening - I’m not telling who it is but YUMMMM! I cannot wait for more of that to be explored. I just need my girl to finally get all 5 in her bed at once in the end. A girl can dream, right?

and HOLY SHIT! I do love Winter and her guys, but I also love the small town criminal aspects as well. I was on the edge of my seat. Secrets are being unveiled, leaving so many questions left unanswered but I know that Cora is going to give us answers in the next book. And I really can’t wait.

🛑PLEASE STOP HERE IF YOU DON’T WANT SPOILERISH STUFF. 🛑 Like I said above, I’m left with some thoughts/questions that I need answers to and I wanted to voice them. If you have the same thoughts, questions or any theories lets chat in the comments.

▪️I kinda love how Hilary is pushing Logan to realize he has feelings for Winter.
▪️After that bi-awakening, I need to know will any of the other guys join? Will there be any MM? I can’t wait to see where that relationship goes.
▪️Who are her parents lovers? and how does this play into the plot, if at all?
▪️Who is Cam’s father? I feel like there’s a bomb about to drop there.
▪️Will Travis be reconnecting with his Father? or confront his Uncle?
▪️WTF is Carson up to? Did he report Winter? Regardless, I hate him.
▪️How is Kellan connected? Is he gonna join the Harem? lol Don’t blame a girl for trying.
▪️Honestly, things are getting more and more interesting especially with their parents involvements and/or connections.

⚠️ I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion and review. If you have made it this far, and are still wondering how I felt about the book... I loved it! I can't wait for the next book.

Book two of this series really has the ball rolling now! Things are picking up both with Winter's relationships and with the whole underground mess that the town has going on. In the first book it was clear that everything was connected, from the families to the businesses, etc, but it was really revealed as to how much in this book. Betrayal all around. Family and friends, lies and secrets. Who and what can really be trusted at this point? Those who we thought might be in the clear are hiding things and making everyone question what they've known their whole lives. Cora did a wonderful job weaving all of these details throughout the  story and really made me constantly think about all of the possibilities of how people and places were related to one another, their connection and what that meant for Winter and her guys as they tried digging up information to stop Georgio for good.

My favorite part of this book was Winter and her guys. I love the relationships between them and how they are all moving at different paces. Each guy is so different and has a unique connection with Winter. Drew and Travis have already gotten their foot in the door, so we see a lot more moments between those three and even a sort of brotherly-like relationship forming between them as they get used to sharing Winter. Cam is such a big Teddy bear and I really enjoyed the times when we got to see the caring side of him and how well he treated Winter as well as the scenes where she cared for him as well. Their relationship is very balanced I would say in that aspect. Shane is still not quite there for me, but that is mainly because he hasn't gotten to the point of expressing his feelings. He's still in denial mode, as is Winter. But…I do this his actions in this book are the catalyst for more to happen later on, especially if it can be eased in with a little m/m. Logan was my least favorite character in the first book, but he really surprised me in this one. His personality was way easier to tolerate this time around and I think he could turn into one of my favorites as we find out more about him. He's one of those characters that keeps his feelings tucked away and doesn't allow anyone in, but he showed a more open, less hostile side to Winter in this book.

I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. The cliffhanger to this one was such a good one and really has you scrambling to try to put the pieces of the puzzle together with no luck.

Nights of Winter by Cora Flynn. 4.5 ⭐️.

when i asked for more smex and more harem related things in the first book review i never expected to get this !!!

boy was this book better than the first !! the character development, the development of who was in Winter’s harem, the drama, the spiceeeeee everything !!! it was SUCH an improvement !!!! even the structure of this book was better.

this was SUCH a good book and i throughly enjoyed it.

the cliffhanger!? gosh does this author know how to write one !!! i was left with so many questions about what’s happening and who all the players are when it comes to the plot of this story. you definitely get SOME answers in this book, but a whole lot more questions that NEED to be answered in the third book.

i absolutely loved seeing Winter grow into herself more in this book, and the relationships she has with each man. i loved watching the whole dynamic change and how each man started to grow a bond with not only Winter, but with each other and figuring out how to navigate this whole situation. it was amazing. the found family aspect of this book could not have been better.

as i said in the first book’s review i loved Travis, Shane, Cam & Drew and i disliked Logan. well everything is the same, but i’ve kind of found a new respect for Logan. even if he’s still a complete asshat. the way he cares for Winter is beautiful. he definitely is trying to redeem hisself , but i guess we will have to see what happens in the third book since he was just arrested (ooops. spoiler)

the complexity of this small town has only grown and i cannot believe the things i’ve read so far and i have a feeling it’s only going to get worse in the third and final installment of this series.

i love the way Flynn weaves these ideas together. the reverse harem, the suspense, the passion and even the mystery aspect is completely on point.

this is book two in the Cascade of Lies series and you MUST read book one before you read this one.

I NEED MORE and i cannot wait to dive into book three “Winter’s End”.

I loved this so much! If you haven't read Days of Winter and Winter's Song, go read them and then come back here :-)
After the cliffhanger at the end of book one, I was of course dying to continue!
In book two, we get some answers (for example, who the talk about bi-awakening is about, and what's the story with Carson), have scenes with Winter snuggled up between her boys, get to know Logan better, and see the story between Cam and Winter progress. Winter also makes a new friend, the term "harem" is mentioned for the first time; and the spice is *chef's kiss*.
It's hard to tell you more without spoiling anything, but I could not put this down! The "Buried Alive Gang" uncovers more of the dark secrets surrounding Cascade and the tension rises - not just the sexual tension. Again, we are left with a cliffhanger, and I cannot wait for book three!
If you love a good spicy small-town romance, this series is for you. If you want more than one smoking hot man, welcome to Cascade Falls. I had never read a reverse harem story before and believe this series is great for anyone who wants to venture into this trope, as it progresses slowly and naturally.
The characters are really well written, each of them has their own language, so even without checking whose POV you're in in a given chapter, you'll know within a few sentences.

Thank you so much, Cora Flynn, for giving me the opportunity to read the ARC!

Spice level: 🌶️🌶️.5

Nights of Winter picks up directly from where book one, Days of Winter, kicked us off the edge of a cliff 😅 (so it is imperative to read DoW first). And let me tell you, the action, the adventure, the suspense? Flynn definitely continued it into this book, and then some.

There's definitely a lot more character growth in this book, as well as some realisations from them, too. I absolutely loved Shane and Drew's growth/character arcs - as well as watching the budding relationship between Cam and Winter - and cannot wait to see where book three takes them all. And Logan? That redemption we were begging for at the end of book one? I think he might be on the road to it - though lord knows the boy has a long way to go.

There are still elements of slow burn present - Winter does have a few love interests, lets not lie to ourselves - but it works beautifully as we see the relationships growing, as well as the character development getting deeper with the growth. But saying that, there isn't a shortage of spice.

There are still so many secrets to uncover, and more twists and turns in the town of Cascade Falls, and I am here for it. So many questions are left whilst reading, and that cliffhanger? I think Flynn will go down as one of the new cliffie queens. Just saying.

Nights of Winter by Cora Flynn takes readers on a thrilling journey through the facade of a seemingly idyllic town, unraveling a complex web of secrets and lies. Winter finds herself entangled in unexpected relationships, with the man who once broke her heart becoming her unlikely savior. Flynn skillfully weaves a reverse harem romance filled with suspense, passion, and a touch of mystery. The story explores the complexities of love and betrayal, keeping readers on the edge of their seats as they discover the hidden dangers lurking beneath the town's picturesque exterior. The characters are well-developed, and the narrative is paced to maintain suspense throughout. As the group continues to uncover the secrets and sins of their parents, their own lives become more entangled in the underworld of their seemingly quiet town. With their lives and relationships taking a complicated turn, Winter and her men must learn to trust each other and themselves. With mature content and a promise of a happily ever after, Nights of Winter caters to an adult audience seeking an engaging and steamy romance with a captivating plot. This is Book 2 in the Cascade of Lies series and is a direct continuation of Book 1 (Days of Winter).

Wow, we get another what the heck ending. We are left with so many questions about what is happening and who all the players are. While we do get some answers in book two, we certainly come away with more questions.

Book two continues with the character development and plot building. I love all the mystery and investigating that is happening in this book. The mystery just becomes bigger and more complicated as the story progresses. You never know what is going to happen next, that is the biggest page grabber.

I love the relationships and friendships that are developing in this story. Winter is just an all around likeable person. People just can't help in wanting to get close to her, the friendship with Hillary was an unexpected must have. The building of the Harem is slow going, but you can see that there is going to be some major chemistry between several characters. I can't wait for it all to come together.

I'm hoping book three, Winter's End, comes with lots of answers to all our questions and some explosive developments in the Harem. I love all the turns and surprises we get from Ms. Flynn. I can't wait for the next one.

Nights of Winter is the second book in the Cascade Of Lies series written by Cora Flynn.

💜 small town
💜 mysteries
💜 why choose
💜 unexpected friendships
💜 🌶🌶🌶🌶 spice

This second book picks up right where the first book leaves off. What were they going to do? All five of them were in this little room hidden trying to keep safe. None of the had their phones so there’s no way to reach to outside world. Shane was going to be beside himself not being able to get ahold of them. Who knew how long the policy would stay surrounding and investigating the property. Would they make it out without getting caught? What would happen next? Would Georgia come down even harsher on them demanding more? Would he even know they were hiding there?

This was a good addition to the story. There was so much more character building and world building done within this book. I also like how you get to see some of the story through the eyes of all of the main characters adding to the richness of the story. There are a lot of mysteries that pop up along the way pulling you in even further. This book yet again ends on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

The gasp that I gasped as I read the last line!!!!!!

CORA - what are you doing to me??? I don't want to wait for book 3. This story is absolutely riveting. The intrigue, the mystery, the drama, the tension - ahhhhhh It's sooooo glorious.

This book picks right up where Days of Winter ends - so it is a MUST that you read book 1 first. The relationships are starting to firm up - which means the spice is spicing 😏 I am absolutely here for Drew's bisexual awakening - and the budding romance between him and Shane. I loved getting to know Cam a bit better and him having more of a role in this book

And damn it - I guess maybe just maybe Logan isn't terrible 🙄 Maybe I like him just a little bit - but only a little bit.

Seriously though - there were a lot of OMG moments in this book. This storyline is absolutely captivating and I am here for it!! I cannot wait to find out how the cascade of lies come crumbling down!

Such a wonderful second installment in the Cascade of Lies series!

Overall rating 4.5/5
Spice Level: 4/5

I have been dying for Nights of Winter since I read Days of Winter late last year, and it did not disappoint. Book 1 left us with a big cliffhanger- thanks Cora!- and I was so curious how the story would keep playing out given that our protagonists were in a dire situation. Without spoilers, lets just say their escape was a hell of a ride.

What I really loved about Nights of Winter was the developing relationships not just between Winter and her men, but within the group of men themselves. We see bromances bloom, characters who were previously just regarded as being jerks have a light shinning on them, and the readers' emotions are pulled all over the place.

Also, my dream ship came true and of course I'm celebrating that! You'll have to read it to find out what I'm raving about.

Nights of Winter comes out 2/29 on Amzn and KU!

Cora Flynn has done it again. This sequel has captivated my heart. The mystery of Cascade falls pulls you in and Winter's 5 harem of men make you want to stay.

To say I'm obsessed is an understatement. I would recommend this book 10x over to anyone thinking of reading it. It's spicy, exciting, thrilling, and once you pick it up you won't be able to put it down.

I am absolutely obsessed with Drew and Shane! They are my favourite 2 men of the harem and something about those boys gives me butterflies! Drew's caring nature and Shane's always be there for you, know you like the back of my hand vibes always do it for me. We are also slowly peeling back the layers that are Logan and I can't wait to see more of him. Something about a bad boy asshole with a sweet spot for his girl does it for me.

This book ends on an absolute cliffhanger, and after the scene in the hot pools.... I'm more the ready and craving book 3. I just want to consume any and everything that is Winter and her harem of men. Do yourself a favour and read this book. You won't regret it.

I can't wait to read the next book!

The plot just keeps on thickening!
Winter's "not-harem" is starting to form, and future love interests are showing themselves more, as well. Even MORE secrets are revealed, and things are just getting more convoluted for our friends in Cascade Falls. By the end of the book, some of the characters are so twisted into the mess of criminal activity, even if they themselves aren't involved in it, it's hard to see any possible way out.
In Nights of Winter, one of the characters has a bi-awakening. There's a little bit of MM, which will almost guarantee that there will be more in the next book. There's also "back door play," "period play," and tampon removal from a guy.

I really enjoyed this book! There's some mystery, a bit of suspense, obviously criminal activity, a bit of a secret society, and more! I'm excited to read the third book when it comes out!

*slight spoilers in this review*

I could not put this book down. I love the character growth between all of the MMCs. The suspense surrounding how Logan, Cam and Shane will become a part of the harem has me enthralled. So much is happening within this storyline outside of the romantic aspect. Many mysteries continue to unfold surrounding the criminal enterprise of Georgio Carlos and the MMCs are all intertwined in some way or another . Some parts of the mystery are exposed in this book, but it leads to more questions that have me immediately wanting to reading the next book to see what will unfold. This book ends on a cliffhanger, which introduces Kellan, a character from Winter’s past. You can read Kellan and Winter’s story in the Novella Winter’s Song. Kellan and Winter’s chemistry is 🔥. Greedy me is hoping he will be a part of this harem!! I cannot wait to read the third and final book in this series, Winter’s End.

ARC reader, I absolutely love this world. It is so realistic that they are just normal 20 somethings who are caught up in something over their heads and are fumbling and don't really know what to do rather than the usual books where they seem to have special skills or something. It just feels so believable. I love the progression of all of the relationships all at different paces and organically unfolding, especially the bromances and found family vibes and how they slowly start to include Logan. The scene in the spa with 2 certain characters was so so hot and I cannot wait for Quick and Snow to finally realise their feelings for each other and admit them. I have suspicions as to who 'M' might be and was wondering when a certain viking would show back up so that ending left me practically gagging for book 3!!

This is book two in the series and it absolutely must be read in order!! :)

With that being said, Cora Flynn keeps the amazingness coming with book 2 of her series, Nights of Winter. With that being said, the ending in this book?! HOLY SMOKES!!!! It makes me SO excited for book 3. One thing I have to point out is there are triggers so be aware of this and know your limits.

Now for the good stuff: reverse harem, bi-awakening, cliffies, spicy spiciness. Oye vay! SO SO GOOD!! Cora, you just keep bringing it and it keeps getting better and better. NOW.. can you please, please please, just give us answers in book three?!?!?

I highly recommend this book and the series to anyone who wants an amazing bi-awakening, reverse harem series. This is phenomenal writing that you don't see everyday for a debut author on her second book. Absolutely beautiful.

Great character development

I definitely preferred this book over book one - now that things are established, the story was able to get going at a much faster pace.

The two things I loved most about this book are the natural way characters of diverse backgrounds are included without making a big deal about it, and the lack of a b!tchy female character. Hillary would have been the obvious choice, and instead she is becoming Winter’s bff. This goes against so many romance book tropes and I am here for it.

Winter’s harem is growing gradually, in a very natural way. The secrets of Cascade Falls are simultaneously becoming clearer and murkier as the group discovers just how wide and deep the corruption goes. There’s a lot to cover in the third book and I’m looking forward to the grand finale.

3.5 stars again but rounded up instead of down this time.

There’s still a slower pacing in romantic and plot development than I typically enjoy and that I think would actually benefit this trilogy, but at least there was significantly more movement in this second book. There’s still plenty left to be explored romantically in the relationships which kind of worries me that it will feel rushed or not given enough attention in the last book because there’s only so much space left and there’s a lot of questions I still have about the plot as well.

This one left off with kind of a whopper of an ending so I’m proud I have the last I can dive into immediately.

And again, if harem members hooking up with or thinking about hooking up with other people even if they aren’t officially with the FMC yet isn’t your jam, definitely stay away from these books, haha.

My problem at times with contemporary romance is it can be too contemporary. The problems seem just normal and I start to get bored. We don't see much movement plot wise this book and it's left me wanting. I am a firm believer that you can either have slow burn romance or slow burn plot. When both happen I just want the book to be over. I am not going to move into the last book right away because I think I may be disappointed. Spoilers:

We have a harem of maybe 4 at this point and her old lover for lack of a better word shows up so now maybe 5, with 3 of them either not in a relationship or at least not being sexually with each other. With one book left you won't do that justice in a meaningful way. We are gonna rush through Shane, Logan, and the new guy and I'll just be let down by that choice.

Howwwwwww dare you leave with a cliffhanger like that!!!??? 😩

As expected this series keeps getting better. Loving the mystery. The endings for some chapters are enough to get you hooked into just keep reading on and on.

“The Scooby Doo crew didn't know what the fu** we were doing. That much was obvious.”

Relationships have grown so much in this book. This found family is finally coming together perfectly. I truly didn’t see how they would work and come together but it proved me wrong. The bromance between each of winters guys happens so naturally.
The slowwwww burn is killling me tho 🫠

The bi-awaking, ugh perfect 🙌🏼

Also the teasing of a sandwich, ugh so mean!
If we don’t get one in the next book 👀

Can’t wait for the next book!

Nights of Winter picks up right when book 1 left off. We get to see more character and relationship development between Winter and her men, especially Logan and Cam. As some of the questions from the first installment are answered, many more arise. The spicy scenes are great just like in the first book. The story continues to be both slow burning and slow building. We finally get to see some of the developing relationship between 2 of the guys, which is also very slow burning but so, so hot. The cliffhanger at the end of this second installment is the perfect combination of shocking and excitement. I found myself enjoying this second installment much more than I did the first. I’m looking forward to see what Cora will bring in the third book.

I received an ARC.

I am enjoying this series. There is so much plot building and character development. But WHY Why does there have to be a cliffhanger while we have to wait a few months for the next book. This series is definitely a slow burn both with the plot and relationships, but the tension is strong! I personally found the middle of the second book to be a bit too slow for me, and I struggled, but it was so worth it. I do wish there was a bit more spice. With this being a RH I did think there would be more BUT also I like the fact this this series is not solely focused on spice, so there is actually a lot more development compared to other RH's. I am going to be here impatiently waiting for book 3

Loved

This is the second book in The Cascade Of Lies series and oh mylanta is it the best. This book picks up where Days of Winter left off. You have Winter and the guys minus Shane trapped at Bourbon & Blues. So much happens in this book and I feel some are starting to redeem themselves. We are starting to learn more about the parents and their lives as younger people. Still wondering why Georgio is doing what he is doing. There are some steamy scenes and hoping for more as the harem builds and people are starting to realize their feelings.

We have bi-awakening too and am so here for it. Am loving Cora's writing style and cannot wait for the last book in this series. Loving Hilary too. Hope a book on her soon too. Totally recommend this.

Nights of Winter is the 2nd book in the Cascade of Lies series. This is a why choose/reverse harem romance series. While this series is not considered a dark romance, there is some material that some readers may find sensitive so please check the trigger warnings on the authors website before reading. Nights of Winter starts right where book 1, Days of Winter, ended. Winter and the guys, Shane, Drew, Travis, Cam and Logan find themselves in a precarious situation as they keep uncovering more secrets and lies from those they trusted the most. This book is full of twists and turns, emotions, danger and spice. And that cliffhanger…. Can’t wait for the 3rd book to come out!
