Invisible Girls Club #12

Sporty Girls Don’t Fall For Loners

Rate this book
She didn’t choose romance, but romance chose her.

I’m the Sporty Girl, quarterback for my high school football team. My goal is to get my team to state for the third year in a row. Romance is the last thing on my mind.

Until Kade Sanders swoops into my life.

Broody and a loner, he manages to get under my skin on his first day at my school. My plan is to ignore him and focus on what matters to me…but then I find myself living under the same roof as him.

Things do not go well. He hogs the shower, calls me a goody two shoes, and claims I got the QB position because my uncle is the coach. Talk about the jerk of the century. But living with someone? You learn things about him. See him in a way no one else does. And it’s not long before Kade shows me the beautiful person that he is.

Sporty Girls Don’t Fall For Loners is the twelfth book in the Invisible Girls Club, a sweet YA contemporary romance series. If you like invisible girls who snag the boys of their dreams, this book is for you!

I know it took me nearly two weeks to finish this book, but let e tell you, it was me and not by any means the book, it was as adorable as the rest of the series
In this book we will follow Zoey, she doesn't believe in romance and she is a sporty girl who wants to focus on her life and her friends, then a new guy comes to town, Kade, he is a foster boy living with Zac and Ally, and by a twist of fate Zoey ends up living with them in the same house, that means, she will get to know him whether she likes it or not, and what she saw is a sweet guy who had a rough life and he is suffering all on his own, then a friendship will blossom that will lead to something more
I really fell in love with Kade, he was never the typical "bad boy" but I liked the shift in his personality and how Zoey was a major part of that, the ending was really nice and I just freaking enjoy this series I hope it never ends

I didn’t think that this series could get any more adorable. But IT DID! Tell me why I had my feet kicking at every little chapter because I don’t even know the answer myself, lol.

First of all, I should clarify: this is a forced proximity, opposites attract, SLOW BURN. When I say that this book is a slow burn, I FRICKING MEAN IT. So if you are a slow burn girlie, then this book is definitely right up your alley. Like, Mariana Zapata slow burn (thanks Clara for giving me that description, lol). There’s definitely LOADS of romantic tension (not sexual because this is a YA romance, come on now).

It’s nice to see a little switch-up: usually, in a romance novel about a hetero relationship, either the guy is the athlete or they both are. At least, in most of the YA novels I’ve read, that’s been the case. Even if football isn’t the main plot point here, I enjoyed that little detail a lot.
There’s Kade’s character development that really progressed throughout and how Zoey was the one who made him see the light in the darkness of his past. I also just really enjoyed the little scenes (like the apple orchard was my favorite!) that just brought up the levels of adorableness between Zoey and Kade. Just knew that they were great together.

This is only the 12th (!!!!) book in the IGC (Invisible Girls Club) series, and if you haven’t read the first 11 books then I wouldn’t worry as much. You can definitely read this as a standalone. Now, I don’t exactly have the best review (a little lackluster, lol) since it’s a spoiler-free review, but if you want to know what all my thoughts were, then please message me directly because I legit wrote them all down on a document (it’s a new thing I’m trying out) and will send it to you (it’s really long, lol).

And I am proud to say that there are no bricks in the books (inside joke. Emma, I hope u find this funny).

***spoilers little here and there***

I need to know what’s going on with Zoey brother Brock. Because it’s no details really being told only thing known is he been through trauma. I hope he gets a book because I want to know his story because he and Lexi was so close and knew that when they gotten older they’ll end up together. But he had gone through something :( … and things have changed.

I also wanted to know what happened between Brock and Lexi…. I can’t wait to see if they’ll get a book. I’m hoping after Mia book because I’m sooooooo curious!!!!

Besides all of that Mia is so going to fall for Declan. Because that’s a sign, he kept popping up. I bet it’s all going to start at his party that I bet she’s going to lol!!

But anyways on to Zoey and Kade. I felt bad for Kade because he lost his dad. And on top of that his mom was in a coma. I was hoping that she’ll wake up. But in the end she pass away. That was so sad…

I think she was waiting on his to be happy and stop hating the world and himself before she move on. Because she knew he wasn’t happy. Once she saw that he was in a good place and happy with his foster parents Ally and Zack. Not only them but with Zoey as well! She knew he was in good hands.

I was glad that he gotten to stay and be foster by Ally and Zack. Because it wouldn’t have been the same. Plus with him leaving I knew they all would’ve missed him. Plus he was doing good in school as well!!! I was glad that everything worked out in the end.

Best one of the Hastings lol

Zoey Hastings has to put up with Kade Sanders.
After first Kade irritated me. I get he had been through a lot, but he jumped to conclusions and was rude to people for no reason. BUT, unlike the Hastings brothers Kade realized and recognized that he was doing wrong!
He began with apologies and slowly came around. He and Zoey had a sloooow building friendship and eventually slow burn romance haha
Zoey and Ally and Zack really tried to make Kade feel heard and wanted. They made a huge difference in his life and it was so heart warming how they all became a small family.
I did feel the Brock issue was unnecessary. Dalton already spent a bunch of books telling us closed off he is and it was just getting annoying how he was treating Zoey and Lexi. I have a feeling they'll get their own book but if it's more of this, I feel it won't be one I like 😅
Otherwise though, I enjoyed this one and was glad there was finally a foster kid that DIDN'T spend all his energy pushing the girl away. Instead, he learned to let go and accept love. They were so cute towards the end 🥰

I really enjoyed this story. It was realistic and had depth. The love story grew, and I just appreciated and loved both characters. A football girl and a bad boy not so bad boy of a murdered father and a mother in a coma. You can see how it spearheads his life into law enforcement to find his parents killer. I hope there is another for book in their future. I think it would be interesting.

I adored Zoey and Kade!! And the book was really good, I was a bit disappointed there wasn’t more romance, it seemed to take the whole book for them to even kiss, and it just felt very long and drawn out more then it needed to be, but it was still an amazing read.

This one was different kinda. Less kissing and unnecessary ish slow burn. It also had different foster kid aspects.

Still clean some mentions of murder and trauma.
