This native Russian fairy tale is amazing! I have read a lot but this one is my favourite!
I've read it in my early childhood and even had listen LP (a long-play analog sound storage medium phonograph record format disc) many times.
Why? Right? Because this fairy tale has such a deep meaning. We can see here some esotheric things like third eye, the heaven, the psychological things that happen with poor girl Havroshechka during her life (abuse and slavery), and of course we see here the true love that wins over everything and everyone.
This story is about a girl Havroshechka which dad married on evil woman, her stepmother, who also had three daughters. Her kids really were far from the decent and good ones and mostly time hurt Havroshechka. Her stepmother decided that Havroshechka should do all hard labour and not complain about that. And the girl didn't complain but didn't know what to do. She went to her beautiful and kind cow that told her no need to worry and she can go to sleep and everything will be okay. But before her sleep she must go through the cow's head from one ear to another. Really interesting, right? That's how the cow helped her.
But of course Havroshechka's stepmother was furious to know that Havroshechka does everything what she told her to. So she decided to send her daughters to watch her stepdaughter and find out how she handled everything. Only one daughter that had three eyes (others had one and two eyes) saw what Havroshechka didm others fell asleep at the night.
Unfortunately, Havroshechka's stepmother ordered to kill the cow. But the cow told Havroshechka that she shouldn't cry but burry her bones and pour the ground every day until the tree will grow. And after the poor kind cow died, Havroshechka did what has been told. After some months the beautiful apple tree appeared and a beautiful young duke was passing by the house where Havroshechka, her stepmom and stepsisters lived. The young duke came to the tree and asked them to give him an apple. No matter how stepsisters tried, they weren't able to reach the branches of the tree and pluck an apple - the brnaches hurt their eyes, hands, legs... But when Havroshechka came out of the house and reached the tree, the branches bowed down and allowed her to pluck an apple. The young duke kissed Havroshechka and took her away.
What a great end! I am glad that evil has been punished! I like the books with happy end!
