He’s a snowboarding legend. And he’s so gorgeous that he steals my breath away.He seems to hate me at first sight. And I don’t have time for any more complications, even ones that come in pretty packages. But the more time that passes, the more I think a distraction might be exactly what I need.My past is looming. My present is uncertain. But my future … is suddenly full of possibilities. This is a dual POV contemporary romance, set in a small mountain town.

Review:

“I thought you didn’t like me,” I admit. “I haven’t decided if I like you or not yet,”

I'm really sorry. I tried to like this book so much, but I really could not. It was, honestly, not for me. First, let me start off with my first issue. It was too insta-love. Willow enters the bar at the beginning of the book with her friend, and she sees every woman in the room looking at this one mysterious man, so, obviously, to feed her curiosity, she looks too. And suddenly, she’s in love. The first night they meet, she tries to indulge in conversation as they are literally with a group of people, and he’s rude to her. (But we can allow that because he’s mysterious and doesn’t talk.) Then later, when she leaves the bar, he follows her out the door, walks her home, and then has the audacity to kiss her. On the first night that they met??! So obviously, Willow is confused by this random kiss. As any woman would be. The next day comes, and Wyatt (one of Zane's friends that Willow meets at the bar) texts her asking to hang out (I can’t remember exactly what it was) so Zane and Wyatt pick her up from her cottage, and they go on this little outing. ACTING LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. Mind you, they are literally thirty-year-olds.

And it's not even that. There are a few unresolved problems from HIGH SCHOOL for Wyatt and Zane. That they clearly hadn't figured out as thirty-year-olds. Naturally, Wyatt then chooses to act like a dramatic teenager who has just gone through puberty and FIGHTS with Zane over a girl. A man who is thirty years old. It was hard to take this book seriously at this point. I apologize; I really tried to enjoy it, but I just couldn't. I just thought it was so unbelievably humiliating that Wyatt and Zane were fighting over a whole woman. Only because Wyatt felt some animosity toward Zane because, in high school, Zane was more "attractive" and apparently stole a girl from him. Therefore, Wyatt felt threatened and tried to steal Willow from Zane.

Moving on from my hate on Wyatt and Zanes relationship. I kind of loved Willow. She was actually a decent character and didn’t act like a ludicrous hormonal teenager. I loved how, when she broke things off with Zane, she really made him work for it. And he really had to grovel to get her back AS SHE SHOULD. A woman should never just let a man not grovel after doing such a stupid thing. (Zane was a heinous character, and I really don’t want to get into his deranged behaviour.) WILLOW DESERVES MORE. I love how Willow had some resemblance to peace at the end (minus Zane, because he’s not peace). I forgot to also mention that she ended up moving to Sullivan's Way because she gets a job at the urgent care facility close by.

Last thought. My favourite character was Benji (the third man in the friend group). He was so amazing and unproblematic. He just lives, laugh, loves through life.

Thank you Wordsmith Publicity & Michelle Scott for this advance copy. This is truly an honest review and my opinion.

I found myself not being able to put this book down. I was drawn into the authors words from the very beginning. She had my imagination running wild with all her descriptions of this small mountain town. The sights, sounds, smells, and taste. I wanted it all, and I need to know if this town is real! I found myself being drawn to these characters, even the secondary ones. I ate this book up within a night. The spice was there, and it was yummy.

Willow, or Lo, finds herself questioning her whole life when she is let go from her job as a Physician Assistant. We get her description of what happened with her boss throughout this whole story. Boy, did that man leave a bad taste in my mouth. He consumed everything in her life for the past 6 years. He became her whole world and messed with her head. Was he married, yes. Did they have an affair, no. After finding out she was being replaced, she takes a vacation to Sullivan's Way. A little mountain town that she had always visited with her family.

Needing this escape to figure out her future, Lo makes friends with some of the town locals. Zane, Wyatt and Benji were local pro snowboarders. They always had women flocking to them. Willow ends up really drawing the attention of Zane and Wyatt. They both want her, but she only wants Zane. She is off put by Zane’s broody, grumpy but also sweet and caring self. She is confused by the way he acts at times. Stolen glances and easy bickering banter between the two had me wondering if it was going to be him. It's really only when she's alone with him that Zane touches her, kisses her, and challenges her.

Wyatt is always there hitting on her and trying to be with her. Although she liked Wyatt, Lo was never attracted to him like that. She does always find herself accepting Wyatt's invitation places in hopes that Zane will be there too. Does she lead Wyatt on, maybe a little. But she craves any type of male attention. I think she wants to feel beautiful and wanted because of the doctor messing with her head for so long. When Zane is with her, he wants to claim her and hold her. Willow doesn't want to hurt Wyatt, though, and she ends up feeling like a game between the two. Wyatt was always putting self-doubt in her head about Zane so he could feel like he was winning Lo. Wyatt had always come in second to Zane and hates it. Always making everything a competition between the two of them. Even if Zane never felt that way.

Even though this book is dual pov, it was mainly told in Willow's. I found myself craving more of Zane’s. It was almost like little stolen glances into his mind, and I enjoyed getting them. Zane was feeling things for Lo that he hadn't felt in years towards anything. Always living and content, but never happy. He got his happiness when he was with her. They both knew what this was, though. A vacation fling, 2 weeks together, and nothing else. He always kept Willow living in the present. Trying to keep her from the past and not think of the future. He really didn't want to lose Willow but kept that feeling pushed down. He ends up doing something to push her away, blaming her for something he overheard.

I almost thought these two would not get HEA because of Zane's actions. Willow left town heartbroken. She had a lot of work to do on herself. She ends up taking a job at the Urgent Care in the small town and coming back. Having both Benji and Wyatt in her corner. Eventually, Zane as well, groveling. Willing to do anything to get her back. Willow isn't having it, even though she wants him. Zane is willing to do whatever it takes, though. Will it be enough?

I read this as an Advance Readers Copy, and this is my honest opinion.

Michelle Scott's 'Willow' takes us to a captivating journey through small-town romance, introducing the grumpy yet intriguing snowboard legend, Zane, and the resilient Physician Assistant, Willow. 🏔️💑

4.25⭐️
2 🌶️

Willow, devoted to her career, confronts betrayal that alters the course of her life. Seeking solace in Sullivan’s Way, she encounters Zane. Their initial tension evolves into a surprising distraction she didn't know she needed.

“I thought you didn’t like me,” I admit. “I haven’t decided if I like you or not yet,”

This quick and engaging read delves into Willow's journey of rediscovery and new beginnings. As a healthcare professional, I appreciated the realistic portrayal of the challenges faced by women in the field.

“The men are the alphas, the leaders. And the women are here to serve them or to stand there and look pretty.”

The emotional dynamics between Willow and Zane, filled with mixed signals and hidden feelings, create a compelling narrative. Zane's journey from a career-ending accident to finding happiness with Willow is truly heartwarming.

“She looks like vitality and unbridled happiness. I want to bottle her expression right now so I can sample it on my dark days.”

On the flip side, the book sizzles with spicy moments, igniting a fiery dynamic in their relationship. Their incredible chemistry leaps off the pages.

“Don’t be shy,” he murmurs. His voice is a rumble in the darkness. “Take it if you want it.”

I commend Willow's resilience and her refusal to give the MMC a second chance without making him work for it. Zane, despite his moodiness, reveals a sweet and vulnerable side. The supporting characters, including Benji and Wyatt, contribute humor and complexity to the plot.

Additionally, the plot reminds us that the challenging situations and problems we endure, the pain, and the struggles are what foster our growth and healing.

“I’m reminded that, sometimes, the best things can grow out of the worst situations.”

I truly enjoyed the book's plot, but I yearned for deeper insights into their families. While I sensed their love, the absence of a direct 'I love you' left me wanting. Perhaps, the author chose a unique way to express it. Moreover, glimpses into their future post-epilogue could have added more depth to the overall story, at least in my perspective.

Despite these nuances, the book is an enjoyable read, providing a glimpse into a world of new beginnings and love. I eagerly anticipate exploring more of Michelle Scott's work in the future.

Thank you Wordsmith Publicity & Michelle Scott for this advance copy, and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

This book follows Willow and Zane. Willow is told that she is losing her job as a physician assistant to an orthopedic surgeon. She feels numb and a little lost and we know that there is an underlying story to her termination. She is set to go on vacation with her parents, but when they can't attend she goes by herself. She finds herself in a mountain town and starts to feel peace. This is a place her family travels to every year. She runs into an aquaintence she sees every year on her trip. They make plans to go out and that is where Willow meets Zane and his friends.

This book pulled me in from the very first chapter. I really liked Willow's character a lot. She was feeling a little lost and needing to start over but not sure how or where to do that. She started questioning what she really wanted out of life. I liked the grumpy brooding Zane from the beginning. I liked that Willow really made the former snowboard superstar work for her attention. Which was not something Zane had to do often. I loved the chemistry between them. I loved the friend group Zane was a part of, they were such great characters and really liked Willow and included her into their group.

I really enjoyed the relationship development between Zane and Willow. It started as just a vacation fling, but they both fell hard and fast and it terrified both of them. I love that it was a bumpy ride, there was jealousy and some lack of communication and fear taking over. There is a 3rd act conflict, which I never like, but I loved that Willow made Zane work to win her back. And the grovel was very good!

The setting of this book was as much a character as the rest. The descriptions reminded me of where I grew up in New Hampshire surrounded by lakes and mountains and skiing/snowboarding and hiking. I just wanted to live in this book.

It's taken me some time to write this review, and I changed my rating over the last 24 hours. I mainly changed it because I just couldn't stop thinking about this story, the characters, and maybe even the town. I'm praying for more from this group of characters as I feel some really need their own stories and HEA.

Willow leaves her troubled life behind for a vacation that she needs so much. The betrayal from her bosses is just beyond horrible, but I'll let you all decide how you feel about that. And when she get there and meets a group of friends, they change her life. Especially Zane.

This story is easy and complicated all at once, and I just fell in love with it. I couldn't put it down. I needed to know what was going to happen. I'm glad that Willow isn't a pushover and stands up for herself. She doesn't need anyone, and she shows that.

This book is a fantastic read, and I totally recommend it. With this being my first book by this author, I will most definitely be reading more of her books.

Wow, this novel did not disappoint! I always love when a find a new author and this author did not disappoint. I love a sports theme novel and I loved the skiing aspect of this novel. From the first chapter this novel pulled me in and kept my attention resulting in not wanting to put this novel down. I loved Lo. I loved that she was good at her job and she knew what she wanted. I loved the chemistry between Zane and Lo. So good! I loved that Lo made Zane work for it to get back together with her. I love when a novel keeps me on the edge of my seat and makes me not want to put it down to see what is coming next. This novel did exactly that. I can't wait to see what this author has coming next.

The situation that Willow finds herself in has her reconsidering her career choice and where better than Sullivan’s Way. While there she meets Zane and even though they don’t get off to the best start there is no denying the draw between them even with all the challenges they have to overcome.

Zane is going through a difficult time of his own as he adjusts to the end of his snowboarding career. When it comes to Willow it was supposed to be fun and casual however that was only the beginning.

The characters of Zane and Willow are compelling, and I enjoyed seeing how strong Willow was and how she wasn’t about to let the past define her as she fought for who and what she wanted in her future.

Willow is a Physician Assistant who has a workplace issue, so she takes a leave to go to a cabin in a small town. She meets a group of locals and two men are interested in her. Zane is a player but has insta attraction to Willow. They decide to have a vacation fling but things start becoming serious. The break up made sense and Lo makes him work to win her heart.

The representation of the PA profession was very accurate and so appreciated! There is a snowy background and Zane is a former snowboarder 🏂 And it has some spice!

Definitely found a new author to enjoy!

Willow by Michelle Scott is a stand-alone small-town romance. Willow ("Lo"), a Physician's Assistant on leave from her job, meets grumpy Zane, a legendary snowboarder who was hurt in an accident that ended his career. They're surprisingly drawn to each other, to other men and women's chagrin. This is the first book I've ever read by this author, and I really did enjoy it. The story was well-written, the characters were believable, and the romantic part of the story was really good. I would definitely recommend it.

A well paced, interesting sports romance. Willow is on leave after some issues at her workplace. She retreats to a small town where she encounters Zane, a former pro snowboarder, who suffered a career ending injury.
Their chemistry sizzles, and the emotion conveyed is top notch. Lo and Zane grow, their relationship evolves and they endure problems. It’s realistic and she doesn’t give second chances easily, making Zane work for her forgiveness.
A captivating storyline with some humour, plenty drama and romance and a great ending.

Thank you to the author and Wordsmith Publicity.

Willow was totally focused on her career, until a betrayal tore everything away from her, and she heads off to a small mountain town to regroup and a fresh start. Zane is moody, brooding, and a snowboarding legend, and Willow / Lo is drawn to him.
This is an easy to read story, with drama, family, friendships, humor, witty banter, bickering, grumpy / sunshine, challenges, and love, which leads to an entertaining, unpredictable, and steamy small town romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Willow is a dual POV small town story that will make you want to pack up and move to Sullivan’s Way. Willow is on vacation after a messy work situation. Zane is broody and quiet local, and catches her attention. Their relationship evolves throughout the story in a beautiful and natural way. I loved the characters (well most of them - but that’s probably how it was intended!) and would love to hangout in this friend group. Hope to see more from Sullivan’s Way in the future!

Never read anything by Michelle before, and this was a good book to start with. It has small town with a little bit of sports romance.

Zane is a lil grumpy but he’s instantly attracted to Willow. I like how Willow knew exactly what she wanted and when she needed to she made Zane work for it.

Will definitely be reading her other books!

"And just like that... we begin again."

I loved this book! Any story that includes someone starting over resonates with me. Willow deserved the vacation and a place to begin anew. Especially if hot snowboarders are involved.
