I thought I had a pretty good grasp of drawing, but figured there is always room for improvement. I didn’t realize just how much it would significantly improve my drawing (while giving me the tools to be a better artist.👩‍🎨
I spent 10 weeks moving through this workbook at my own pace (meaning one day I’d plow through several exercises then not touch it for several days or a week 🤷🏻‍♀️). Each “lesson” is a short YouTube video accessed by a QR code in the book with an assignment. There are viewing guides, value scales, and lots of extra paper and practice pages in the back.

The workbook/art class starts off with having you draw a self-portrait of your face. The final project is, of course, drawing your face from an artfully lighted photo. And while my first drawing was OK, my final project blew it away! All the lessons built up skills that enabled me to tackle the final project with confidence.

Honestly, I considered myself to be a decent artist before starting this workbook/class. Now I am amazed at what I can draw accurately and well. This would be an excellent gift for anyone from a beginner to intermediate artist who wants to learn or to improve their drawing skills.

WARNING: Be sure you buy this book from the official website! It’s about $50 and well worth it if you put in the time and do the exercises. Amazon and some other resellers have sold cheaper counterfeit copies with lesser-quality paper and bindings, and QR codes that don’t all work!
