The first lesson my father ever taught me was that power is the only currency, loyalty is the law, and always take what you want.

When the Mayor of our city begs me to keep his precious daughter safe, I seize my chance to strengthen the DeLuca hold on the town.

I’ll keep her safe, but it’ll come at a price.

Mia Gordan, the sheltered heiress, must become my wife.

She’s a stranger to our brutal world.

A symbol.

A means to an end.

A strategic move, nothing more.

But as I draw her into my shadowed life, shielding her from the ghost of our fathers’ past, I realize she’s more than a pawn. Every defiant glare, every whispered challenge stirs something dark and hungry within me. She’s an enigma, a mystery wrapped in innocence and hidden depths.

Protecting Mia becomes more than duty; it’s a burning need. The deeper we dive into the lies that bind her family to mine, she becomes more than just my wife in name. Mia’s the unexpected light in my dark world.

But can love be our salvation in a life built on blood and deceit, or will buried secrets destroy it all?

Savage Bloodline is an interracial (BWWM), forced marriage, age-gap, mafia romance that is a gripping tale of love, loyalty, and survival in a world where nothing is as it seems.

Quickie review: Dario Deluca started out a bit slow for me but around halfway in, the story started to pick up and I really enjoyed it. It has more of a mafia light storyline, enough that my little mafia loving heart was happy. But that romance? Mercy! It was heavy on the romance. All in all a really good, well written book. 4 Stars!

Sade Rena and ML Preston do it again with this steamy but very much romantic work! The mafia vibes are exactly what they should be! The story plot grips you right from the beginning; you have a daughter of a rich politician with a ton of enemies. Of course, someone is stalking his daughter and the only man capable of helping him hunt down the person is the one person who craves power (and is also corrupt because why not? lol). The tension between the dark knight Dario, trying to keep the mayor’s daughter safe, and Mia, the mayor’s daughter, is so spicy! They both can’t stand each other which makes this one hard to put down! You’ll want to add this to your summer TBR immediately!

⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶🌶🌶/5

TW - graphic violence, torture, gore, gun violence incl a public shooting, fire, corruption

CW - DubCon, hidden cameras, spanking

Tropes - he falls first, touch her and die, mafia, dark, age gap, possessive, (forced) marriage of convenience

Representation - plus size FMC, interracial couple, Black FMC

This story was okay for the length and enjoyable if you're after a short mafia romance to read passively.

I did find the story to be quite disjointed; the progression of the 'relationship' between the MCs was weird and seemed to jump all over the place; the MMC seemed to randomly become obsessed with her and for me, it felt unnatural to the storyline. I found that a lot of the chapters didn't feel like they followed on from each other and were just mashed together.

The FMC, for a 26 year old, felt childish to me and at times, lacked a sense of self preservation and didn't listen even where her safety was concerned and the tantrum she threw (as a 26 year old) was extremely embarrassing lmao.

Scale:
⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite
⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever
⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪

🫑 - no smut
🌶 - no point
🌶🌶 - mediocre at best
🌶🌶🌶 - standard smut, hot
🌶🌶🌶🌶 - 🥵 okay, some CW
🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 - fuck me 🥵🥵 CWs / filthy with a side of filth - see Poison / Room Twenty-Two: Hide and Seek/ The Naughty List

Character dev: 👤
Originality: 📝
Narration: 🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️
Plot: 📖📖
Spice: 🌶️
Action: 👊🏽
Troupe: BWWM, enemies to lovers?🙄
Triggers: some violence

For Mia to be a black plus size influencer, she has very little personality. No spark, no fight back, no chemistry with Dario. Too much filler and inner monologue.
The storyline line dragged with very little happening between major events. This story had a lot of potential considering the contrasting characters.
The writing doesn’t touch on any possible conflicts from an arranged marriage between a Sicilian Capo and the black, plus sized daughter of the Mayor who’s also an influencer. A lot of missed opportunities to make this story unique.
Mafia drama is present but light, so don’t expect Dario to flex his mafia muscle.
The spice was pretty good.
Enemies to lovers seems to be the intent however it was poorly executed.

If you’re looking for a BWWM spicy read then you may enjoy this one.

The story Authors Sade Rena and M.L. Preston delivered shows a morally grey and rugged mafia guy, Dario, and the curvy mayor’s daughter/heiress, Mia, who is an influencer who happens to be in danger. Mia’s father asks Dario to protect her, but in doing so, she is to be his wife. Dario does have his motives, though.

”Dario” brings you right into the story and doesn’t stop. Both the characters are well-developed. I loved how Mia is described, both physically and in her personality. She can hold her own in any situation. And Dario, there is so much to say about him. He falls first. All the little things he does for Mia are so touching. And when Mia sees him, the real him—those moments were so sweetly written. The spice scenes are detailed and plentiful but don’t overpower the entire story.

I thought “Dario” was a well-written interracial romance that was fast-paced with balanced spice and a mafia storyline. It was also a great addition to the Savage Bloodline Series.

This book throws us into a whirlwind of danger and desire in the heart of Chicago. Mayor’s daughter Mia Gordon, finds her world turned upside down when a threat on her life forces her family into a dark bargain. Dario Deluca, a ruthless mafia leader who offers protection in exchange for a shocking proposition: marriage.

Mia is a beacon of light, a fighter determined to carve her own path. Dario embodies the city’s shadows, a man shrouded in secrets with a reputation as dangerous as it is alluring. Their forced proximity ignites a spark that threatens to consume them both. Can their love survive amidst the secrets and danger?

This book is a fast-paced mafia romance that kept me glued to the pages from beginning to end. A strong female lead who refuses to be a damsel in distress, a captivating hero with a heart of gold beneath the rough exterior – this book has it all!

Calling All Mafia Romance Fans! This one’s for you! Thank you to Chaotic Creatives the e-ARC.

Having read books by ML Preston before, I was keen to read a collaboration with another author, one unknown to me, but not for long. These two writers did a terrific job penning this Savage Bloodline novel, hopefully, the first of many books written together.
When I read ‘Mafia’ in a blurb, I was immediately hooked, and then to discover the story is about a forced marriage 🙌 my heart was doing a happy dance.

Dario DeLuca was such an easy character to like—yes, he’s the head of the Chicago mafia, but he’s so much more. He was violent and unafraid to use aggression when he saw the need, but likewise, he was also unafraid to use words, as well. Mia Gordan was an innocent young woman who had her life unexpectedly disrupted and with a marriage planned to someone she didn’t know. I would have been spitting chips, too. I liked her feisty nature and how she stood up to Dario and her father. She has it all going—a gorgeous, curvy woman with an intelligent mind who cares about the people in her community.

The action and drama in the story picked up pace in the second half, and it was hard to put the book down. I had no clue why Mia was being threatened and was pleasantly surprised by the result, a cleverly planned arrangement. The romance between the lead characters was sometimes intense, and you could almost feel their chemistry jump off the pages.

Next, I would love to see another story with Rafael and Gabrielle as the lead characters. 😉

This is my first time I have read the work by this author duo and I must say that I’m highly obsessed with both the characters. The story revolves around Mayor’s daughter Mia Gordon and a Mafia Leader Dario DeLuca. I love how their story grows with slow and gradual pace. The spice and banter between them makes the story more adorable. The characters are well built and I adore the sense of confidence and fierce they carry around themselves. The political/Mafia encounters make the story more interesting and mind absorbing. It is interesting to see that how both the characters let their barriers fall and develop true and passionate feelings for each other. I’m obsessed how Dario expresses his care and possessiveness passionately throughout the story that makes Mia fall her defiances against him and truly falls for Dario. Rafael who is Dario’s brother and right hand also holds a special spot in the whole story. Both Mia and Dario have their own connection with him and it’s so adorable to his loyalty towards them and they how he cares about Mia.
I’m so happy to read this beautiful story and I’m so eager to the rest of the series too.

Thanks to the authors and chaoticcreativeservices for giving me this ARC opportunity!!!!!!! 😍😍😍
Can’t wait for the next upcoming book in the series !!!!!!!!!!😍😍😍

This was an interesting read. I feel like some of the story was a little convoluted at times but shined in other places. I didn't really like the first spicy encounter that Dario and Mia had. It was a strange experience to read and i don't know how to accurately explain it. I also didn't feel like they really got to know each other before they started throwing around the L word. I also thought that Mia's anger was a little misplaced. I could understand not liking Dario for his career choice but I feel like the reasoning she used was incorrect. I think this book felt like moments. Things happened but the in-between moments were lost.
The main saving grace for this book was the spicy scenes. They may have felt just kinda placed there but they were nice. The only one that wasn't was the first one. The rest were kinda hot. I give the spice a 3 out of 5. As for my overall experience with this book...it's probably closer to a 2 out of 5. I enjoyed the spice but I felt that while the bad guys motivation was valid, it was a weird way to go about it. The threat was fine but why not completely expose the person you're actually mad at if they are a "beloved" figure in the community. I think the threat would have been the last thing I'd do in a perfect all around revenge plot. Again that's just me. Definitely give this book a read!! What I disliked you might love so as always give every book I review a chance!! Congrats to Sade Rena and ML Preston on this release!!

What can I say you really just cannot go wrong with a good mafia romance. This has everything you need, dark knight mafia boss sets up an arranged marriage to the mayor’s beautiful daughter. There’s a nice bit of spice sprinkled in at the right times and a LOAD of tension between these two main characters that you can pretty much feel oozing off the pages. The political/mafia side of the plot brings in the perfect amount of storyline to keep things interested without getting confusing or overwhelming. Perfect mix of action and romance! Also loved that it was an interracial couple with a curvy FMC, I’m so for books that break out of “traditional” standards!!!
(and shoutout to the authors for giving translations immediately after sentences in other languages, nothing worse than having to bring up translations in the middle of reading 😂)

Thanks to the authors and Chaotic Creatives for providing me with this ARC copy!!

I really enjoyed this story!!! Yes it's a bit slow moving at the beginning but I got about 40% in and it really picked up. I love a mafia romance they are one of my favourite tropes.

Mia is the daughter of a rich politician and he has so many enemies out there that they would definitely get to him by hurting Mia. So when he finds out someone is stalking her so he enlists the only man who can help hunt them down but he also craves power and he wants something in return for the protection of Mia. Dario is the man in question and he wants Mia as his wife but of course Mia doesn't go without a fight. Dario definitely falls first which is what I like....I love the guy to fall first and when Mia sees the real him she urgh my heart she sees him in a different light and those scenes were the ones that got me to be honest. I loved the level of spice and those scenes too were very well written.

I really did enjoy this story it really picked up towards the end and I also loved it was a curvy FMC plus the interracial aspect too was something I loved. I really hope Rafael gets a story 🙏🏻 he was an amazing secondary character and super cute 🥰

I ❤️ my mafia romance books and this one is definitely added to the list of mafia reads I enjoyed. This book had the elements of a good mafia arranged marriage age gap romance. It starts of as slow burn ,then add in the angst the push and pull , forced proximity. There are also the action parts as well and suspense and mystery which kept me hooked. There was a lot of focus on the romance 😍

Dario Deluca was the ultimate mafia book bf . His character and personality was so smooth. He was so mellow but had impact which I loved. Mia was fun to read she had the feisty ness in her character and tried so hard to fight the attraction but who can resist the cool hot charming Dario.

Quote: “I will eliminate any threat, defeat any enemy, and protect her. She is my truth in this darkness”

The spice was spicing 🔥🔥 and well written . I liked the pace and the build up to the ultimate moment(s) they were 🥵.

✨Mafia Dark Romance
✨Age gap
✨Inter racial relationship
✨Arranged marriage
✨He falls first and hard
✨He will burn down the world for her
✨Forced proximity
✨Curvy FMC
✨He is Sicilian 🔥

This is the first book I’ve read by this author duo and I enjoyed it. I’m a big fan of Maria romance so I was excited to give this a shot.
I loved Mia’s character. She had a strong personality and didn’t easily bend to Dario’s whims. I felt as though she stayed true to herself and her feelings regarding the arranged marriage were made perfectly clear…to the tunes of shattering vases.
I loved Dario’s alpha-ness and his softness towards Mia. Together, I think they matched each other perfectly.
Also, I wouldn’t mind seeing a story for Rafael 👀

Marriage of convenience. Mia, the mayor's daughter needed protection and Dario was all too willing to provide it. He was also venturing into politics, running for a position. There's banter, emotions, drama and even trauma. Secrets are unfolded as things get a bit more hectic towards the grand opening. A good read, without venturing to far into dark territories.

Good Banter

Mia and Dario had really good banter that fueled the chemistry between them. Dario did not play when it came to Mia safety even though at times Mia was being a brat. Although Mia dad is wrong for how this came about

I really enjoyed this read! Dario is a possessive, obsessive Italian mafia boss who exudes touch her and you 🪦 energy and Mia is a sassy take no shit daughter of the Chicago mayor who finds herself under Dario’s protection when her life is threatened.
This is a he falls first Mafia romance what has a good about of spice but also great plot that will keep you hooked. Looking forward to reading more from this series!! (hoping that there will be a book for Rafael because 🥵🥵🥵)

Love isn’t rational!

She - Mia, is a DeLuca now and they bow to no one. Dario and Mia did a lot of bowing throughout this story.

For me, this was one of the most honest and insightful stories on becoming a member of this family from the woman’s perspective.

Unwavering

Dario is an unapologetic DeLuca. He never tried to hide who he truly is. And if Mia wanted him, she had to accept him for who he is and nothing less.
I loved how the authors took their time to build the relationship and the love between Dario and Mia.
Well done.

A threat ignites Dario into the move for the City Council. Mia is strategic in this power move and Dario has every intention of making this liaison very, very real. As secrets unfold will the hate turn into love for these two? Love this series. Good read.

Dario and Mia 😍

So different from the other dark romance books.
The arranged Marriage trope is my favorite 😍

Not too long and not too short and an easy but very good read!

I loved their dynamic in the last couple chapters and while the spice was there, it wasn’t too much and that made the plot even more interesting.

The mystery and corruption was revealed but wasn’t further explored, that bugged me a little. But a happy ending is what these type of books are always aiming for and I love a good and satisfying HEA!
And what I loved, what was different, is that the FMC was a woman of color. I loved that fact.
imagine a black woman and a Italian man, equals beautiful and stunning babies 😍

Dario DeLuca is a made man with a legit persona. Socially suave and head of the mafia. His connection and interest in the sweet Mia was so much fun to read.
This did start a bit slowly, but hang in there as the story picks up after a few background chapters. Overall, entertaining albiet a tad less gritty than other mafia romances.

Don't miss this series it's wonderful

This is why I love this series. The writing is superb. Dario and Mia, what a pair! They didn't meet under the best of circumstances, but love found a way to blossom. This series is definitely worth reading. Kudos to the talented authors of this book. It was my pleasure reading this book. 🥰

Loved how different the characters are! Very rare for me to see a book character that looks like me. Such a feel good story with drama in every chapter 😍 The only thing I needed to adjust to was sometimes it was a little wordy. Other than that, I love a great HEA!

This was a quick like most of the books in this series if you love the arrange marriage trope you will eat this up. We follow Dario who is the mafia and Mia who is the mayors daughter, someone has been stalking the mayors daughter so the mayor calls in a favor with the mafia.

Dario is instantly attracted to the mayors daughter Mia but they both can’t stand each-other. They butt heads a lot before they finally get together and I loved it! The tension the spice, and the plot will make this hard to put down! Definitely a perfect quick summer read to read on the beach
