"Linda, I know you won't remember me, but my daughter was killed by Mayfield Sherman."Christian reporter Linda Radcliffe felt like someone kicked her in the gut. Mayfield Sherman? Lord! That monster was put to death several years ago, but not before he killed several women. He'd made a stop in Oklahoma, right on Linda's reporting beat. But she'd left, and Sherman was a big part of the reason. She had read the police files. She had seen the photos. Twenty years later, she's back to help a family she once covered. When she meets her old colleague, now the editor of the town paper, feelings once dampened begin to rise again.
I think the dialogue is well done and helps to move the story along and brings the characters to life. The day in the life scenes are really special. The pacing in the second half of the novel really picks up and I struggled to put the book down! I can't wait for book 2.
Dialogue moves the action along. Sixty is about a crime reporter who looks into small-town secrets. It pulls the curtain away from the inner workings of the newsroom.
This is a Black American Christian mystery suspense tale of suspense. It lacked editing, but read it as an Advanced Reader's Copy and enjoy the intrigue and secrets. I look forward to reading the second in series.
I loved the story and the characters but I feel as if the “book” is a teaser to make you buy another book. I know this is a trend but this otherwise excellent piece of writing and the author should honor the integrity of authorship by completing the epic in one book.
This is my first book by the author and the storyline kept me guessing. It took a while to for the story to develop but when it did I really wanted to know how it would all play out. It ends on a somewhat cliff hanger but overall not a bad read.
Some parts of the narrative seems rushed, pace was uneven at times however, enjoyed the story and had to get book 2 so I can see how these stories end.
