Rate this book
Nothing can be trusted in Lunaria.

Further complicating matters, I’m already entangled with two others, and harboring confusing feelings for a third. Marriage is the last thing on my mind, especially with a traitor. But between the increasing boldness of the monsters roaming our lands and the obscured truths nestled in our history, I don’t have much of a choice. Desperate for answers, and with the Prince holding the key, it's time for game of deception to begin.

Seduce the Prince, learn his secrets, don’t let him learn mine. And most importantly, don’t die.

Our survival depends on unraveling the lies around us and the clock is ticking. With every bit of knowledge we gain, it becomes harder to tell friend from foe. And if I trust the wrong person, I might doom us all.

Alex Frost is… actually Maddox Grey. Dun dun duuuuun!

Okay probably not that dramatic of a reveal since it isn’t exactly a closely guarded secret. The pen name Alex Frost was created to publish the spicier fantasy series that fall under the “Why Choose” genre.

Why Alex Frost? Because Maddox is a freaking nerd. After being trained by local baristas to respond to the name “Alex” instead of Maddox, it seemed like the perfect pen name. Half of it anyway.

Since Maddox already shares their last name with Jean Grey of the X-Men, it seemed fitting to borrow Emma Frost’s last name for their other persona.

If you know, you know. (insert smirking face)

This follows straight on from the cliffhanger in book 1. Samara thought she could have her happiness with Kieran and Roth, be free of her ex-husband, and continue to rile up Alaric and Vail, but now Prince Draven has proposed and their house is thrown into chaos.
Now they must navigate traitors, buried secrets and royal scheming, while the lines all blur between friends, enemies and lovers.
I loved the spicy relationships that developed in this and the steamy pairings! There's such a range of personalities but I love the sass, flirting and banter between them all.
I also love the trouble they find themselves in, and all the discoveries they make as they work out who is controlling the wraiths, and secrets from Samara's parents.
This primarily follows Samara but bounced between the other POV which was so fun to see, including Draven's.
There was so much going on there was never a dull moment with the high stakes action, magic, betrayals and romance, and I was thoroughly hooked right to the dramatic ending.
Can't wait for the next book!

🗡️ "The gorgeous prince with enchanting blue eyes wanted to marry me, but I wanted to stab him in the heart and set his corpse on fire"

🗡️"I knew when I got you alone out here, the real you would bleed through"

🗡️"I'm sorry, why are you here? Generally, when someone throws a knife at your face, that's a sign that maybe they don't want to be in your company?"

🗡️"I don't abandon those I love. Maybe that's something you should consider in the future"

🗡️"I've been frustrated with you. Annoyed by your antics. Occasionally wanted to strangle you"

🗡️"I know nothing of dreams. The only thing I've ever known are nightmares"

🗡️"You were right earlier when you called me possessive, but that doesn't mean I don't know how to share"

🗡️"My future is my own...And I fucking dare you to try to take that from me"

📖: A Court of Bones & Sorrow (Lunaria Realms Book 2)
💀 Releasing October 29th

This series had me in a ch0kehold after the shocking revelations from the first book. Book 2 kicks up the ante with more action, deeper betrayals, and even more fun 🌶️ times 🙌

Tropes/themes:
🩸Multi POV
🩸Sassy & smart FMC
🩸Why choose
🩸Political intrigue
🩸Monsters & Magic
🩸Found family
🩸Banter
🌶️: moderate to high

I love Sam so much - her growing confidence, political prowess, and unyielding loyalty makes her such a BA FMC. The multi POV gives us so much insight on all the love interests, both new and evolving 😏. Thank the book gods this a why choose because I would never want to!

Alex masterfully balances the high stakes narrative with moments of levity, fun banter, and unique romantic storylines. The delicious spice had me 🥵 and the twists and turns made my mind churn. I need the next book immediately! 😭

Huge thanks to Alex Frost for the opportunity to read this ARC! This is my honest and voluntary review.

This takes the mystery, drama, and romantic tension from the first and levels up in every possible way. Frost dives straight into the mysteries lurking beneath Lunaria’s surface, and the stakes are even higher as Samara is forced to navigate both political treachery and her own tangled emotions about her partners. The complexity of her relationships is handled with care, making each bond—whether rooted in romance, rivalry, or reluctant alliance—feel fun and authentic. The chemistry between her and her love interests - no matter who they are -is always fascinating and Frost balances spicy scenes with genuine emotion and character-building moments that make you root for each connection. Plus, the diversity woven into the narrative brings a refreshing realism to these fantastical characters, making them all the more compelling.

The world-building in this series continues to impress, and Frost fills Lunaria with a vibrant mix of danger, mystery, and secrets. As Samara gets closer to discovering uncomfortable truths about her past, her people, and the world around her, I was super invested. And that ending — completely gut-wrenching. Just as we start to understand where everyone’s loyalties lie, Frost pulls the rug out from under us, leaving the fate of Samara and her allies hanging by a thread. This book doesn’t just raise the stakes for Samara’s journey but leaves you desperate for the next installment. Court of Bones and Sorrow is lush, intense, and all kinds of messy in the best way possible. Truly, this series has only gotten better, and I can’t wait to see what comes next!

Thanks so much to the lovely author and R&R Book Tours for the complimentary copy and the opportunity to read and review. This is voluntary and all opinions are my own.

Oh, A Court of Bones and Sorrow—where heartbeats quicken, knives are thrown, and trust? Yeah, that’s as rare as a day without Sam’s sass.

Buckle up, babes; this book comes in hotter than Draven’s smirk. 😏🔥

✨ Samara’s back, and if you thought her life was complicated before, wait until Prince Draven—the enemy with eyes as deep as his secrets—proposes.

Yep, you read that right. Marriage. To the enemy. “The gorgeous prince with enchanting blue eyes wanted to marry me, but I wanted to stab him in the heart and set his corpse on fire.”

Sam, girl, I felt that in my soul.

Between political backstabbing, monster hunts, and heated glances that could start a forest fire, our girl’s juggling more than just her heart.

Kieran’s still the sweetheart we’d fight wraiths for, Roth’s got those bookish but dangerous vibes (ribbon play, anyone? 👀), Alaric’s the smug strategist we can’t help but love, and Vail? The man broods like it’s a competitive sport.

And then there’s Draven. Prince Charming turned Prince Oh-You’re-Trouble. “I knew when I got you alone out here, the real you would bleed through.” Sir, we are listening.

The tension, the banter, the slow burn that has you fanning yourself mid-page—it’s all here.

🗡️ Speaking of burn, Alex’s world-building and twisty plot are on point. Secrets unfold faster than Sam’s witty comebacks, and just when you think you’ve caught your breath, WHAM—a cliffhanger so shocking, you’ll be staring at the last page in betrayal.

Tropes that’ll have you hooked:
🩸 Enemies to Lovers (with a side of “stabby-stabby”)
💥 Found Family vibes that hit hard
🔥 Why Choose? You know it.
🌈 Queer, inclusive love interests that add all the spice

And can we talk about the writing? Between quips like, “You break my books, I break you,” and the vulnerability that peeks through, “I know nothing of dreams. The only thing I’ve ever known are nightmares,” Alex masterfully keeps the fun, the thrill, and the feels in perfect balance.

So, gear up for betrayal, romance that makes you blush, and a world so vividly built, you’ll be booking a one-way ticket to Lunaria. Just, you know, avoid the wraiths. 👀

✨ Verdict? This sequel is a knockout with more drama, spice, and twists than you’ll know what to do with. Prepare to scream, laugh, and beg for book 3. (Alex, why the cliffhangers, why?!)

This series is a fun, fast-paced SPICY why choose but with an action packed plot that keeps you turning page after page. I had a hard time putting this down! Maddox (Alex) always does such an incredible job with character building that I instantly get drawn in by them. The way they are able to provide such realistic personalities for each character just blows my mind. They are so creative and it shows in their writing and world building. I just gobble up their stories. I really enjoy their style of writing.

This book is the perfect companion to book 1. That cliffhanger ending! WHY! Then to tell me I don't have to wait too long because book 3 will be out next year... Do you realize that is NEXT YEAR 😭 I need it NOW! However, I'm super excited that books 4-6 will follow one of my other favorite characters and I can't wait to read them!

This series is so interesting in that it contains magic and powers of familiar fantasy beings (vampires, shifters, etc), but their origin stories are unique and unlike anything I've read.

HIGHLY recommend if you like:

💫Fast-paced high action fantasy
💫Vampires
💫Shifters
💫Unique magic
💫Curses
💫Royal Intrigue
💫Betrayal
💫Spice/ why choose

Thank you to Behind the Pages and Alex for entrusting me with a review copy!

A Court of Bones and Shadow by Alex Frost
Lunaria Realms book 2

Duet narration by Eva Caine and Zane Daniels
Eva and Zane continue to do a great job bringing these characters to life! We did get more of the males' POVs so more from Zane this time too!

Multiple POV, why choose, LGTBQ+ normative, one sort of fast burn and the rest of the partners are slow burn, revisiting a previous forbidden romance, hate to friends, enemies to lovers, monsters, great female friendship, humans turned into paranormal beings a few generations ago with a spell (new take on vampires, shifters, and furies), betrayal, political intrigue

The adventure continues with more twists and turns as Samara and crew scramble to find the answer to save the realm! We get a new male - a prince! But he is involved in something shady and Samara needs to figure out whose side he is actually on. I am continuing to enjoy Samara finding her way with her various partners. I'm also loving the mix of character focus and high stakes adventure! And ahhhh the cliffhanger! I'm so glad I don't have to wait too long for the next audiobook!!

Okay I am obsessed with this story and the characters! I really enjoyed the first book but liked this one so much more. We really begin to learn about what’s going on with the wraiths and the Moroi Queen and wow what a mess. I was expecting a betrayal the whole time but that ending with Carmilla, Lucian, and Vail was wayyyy more than I was expecting. I need the next book asap! So much is going to happen and I can’t wait to see what comes next!

This book has lots going on! Lots of great action and adventure, we have some trust issues and doubts that both get solved and started, we see more relationships develop and evolve, and we learn some juicy details along the way too! This was a great read and kept me on my toes the whole time, right up to that cliffhanger of an ending!

A Court of Bones and Sorrow is the second book in the Lunaria Realms series. It is double the spice, double the wit, double the adventure, and double the banter of the first book. And it’s my favorite book of the series so far! I spent such a long time trying to decide which love interest I liked the most, until I realized it’s a WHY CHOOSE so I could have ALL OF THEM 🥳.

This was a rollercoaster of an adventure, and I adored every one of the characters (even when I despised them for REASONS. I can’t wait to fall in love with them more in the next book!

“We will give our lives for the blood.”
“We will yield our fates in the wild.”
“We will lose our souls to the fury.”

Wow! What an incredible continuation of this trilogy. There were so many unexpected twists. Every time I thought I had figured something out I was hit with the complete opposite. This was dark, sad, tense, and exhilarating. We got to explore each character in a new light.

Samara is still such a bad ass fmc. She’s sassy, smart, resourceful, and trustworthy… even to a fault. Getting to learn and understand her better has helped me to connect with her on a deeper level, and I can’t wait to watch her destroy all who’ve betrayed her.

Kieran is still my fav golden retriever. I feel like I didn’t get much of him this book, but the parts he was in were deeper and allowed us to see underneath the many masks he wears.

Alaric!! Talk about character growth!!! He has honestly grown so much just in this book. We get to see inside his head and process his thoughts and feelings alongside him. I now understand why he is the way he is, and I wish I could protect him.

Roth is still as nerdy and quietly sexy as ever! They definitely leaned more into the protective side I was hoping we’d get. I cannot wait to see how they react to everything in the next book.

Vail. Vail. Vail… as stupid and fucking ever. I had just begun to like him and his relationship with Sam, and of course he went and fucked it all up. The betrayal from him was truly unexpected by me, and it shouldn’t have been. He seems hellbent on Sam forgiving him, but I’m not so sure. He’s blindly loyal to a fault, and he may just reap consequences that he’s not prepared for.

Draven!! The end of book one put his character in a rather precocious situation. I was definitely untrusting of him, but slowly, and surely, he’s won me over. His story was by far the saddest and hardest to read. His love and loyalty for Sam and Kier was so heartwarming and heartbreaking. Finding out his secrets was so shocking, and each one surprised me more than the last.

The plot still has me hooked, and even more than book one! The twists keep twisting, and the story keeps unfolding in ways I didn’t expect. I have some ideas for how the trilogy will wrap up, but I’ll probably be wrong lol.

Thank you for access to the ARC!

So, spoilers are going to abound, just a warning, because I cannot talk about this book without talking about my new fave, Draven.

What??? Isn't he a horrible murderous asshole??? Yes, that was also my reaction at the end of the last book and going into this one, being very skeptical that I was going to be okay with him and Sam getting together, but it turns out that all I want now is good things for Draven.

I also very much enjoyed Vail in this book, even though, yes, he's still an asshole to Sam at times but now at lest

Alaric gets some great scenes too, with more of him walking in on Sam and Kieran We get to see more of Rath, and they get some POV chapters as well and more backstory, and the harem is congealing well together! Minus the hiccups at the end, but I live in hope that love will prevail in the next book.

And of course, we cannot forget Samara, the center of the book and harem, and as awesome and smart as ever. She's the driving force for solving the mysteries that surround the world and their schemes to try and protect themselves, and even when she's down, we should never count her out.

The one thing that I would like is perhaps a slower pace, because this was quite a fast paced mystery, but that's just a personal preference.

I'm really looking forward to the next book, and I can't wait for the trilogy after that that's going to explore Rynn and the Alpha Pack!

Hold up—did A Court of Bones and Sorrow just ruin my life in the best way possible? YES! Yes, I think it did. Because Alex Frost just delivered a sequel so PERFECT, I stayed up endlessly, devouring it. If you thought book one brought the heat, the drama, and the betrayal, buckle up—this one tops the cake across the board… crank everything up to eleven. Samara’s back, and now she’s juggling monster hunts, political intrigue, and the “minor issue” of an arranged marriage with her literal enemy, Prince Draven. Yes, the same Draven with smoldering blue eyes and enough secrets to fill a library. (YESSSS DADDY PLS!) Enemies-to-lovers doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Sam is a sassy, sharp, and smart FMC who keeps her harem—and readers—on their toes. Between Alaric’s smug strategies, Kieran’s heart-melting loyalty, and Vail’s brood-for-sport energy, there’s never a dull moment. And Draven? Whew, his tortured soul had me questioning all my life choices (and how I became so attracted to all of these fictional men). The chemistry is electric, the banter is addictive, and the tension? Scorching. Frost balances spice with heartfelt vulnerability so seamlessly that I didn’t know whether to blush or cry. Add in the high-stakes plot full of monsters, curses, and shocking betrayals, and this book just HITS DIFFERENT!!!

The world of Lunaria is as immersive as ever, with rich magic, layered political schemes, and a found-family dynamic that hits you right in the feels. And that ending? A CLIFFHANGER. My heart is still recovering, and the fact that I have to wait until next year for book three is straight-up cruelty (even if 2025 is sooo close). If you love fast-paced fantasy with high stakes, deliciously messy romance, and twists that leave you gasping, this series is a must-read. Massive thanks to Alex Frost for the ARC, but honestly? Alex, we need to talk about these cliffhangers and you destroying my soul with them. 😭

Book: A Court of Bones and Sorrow ARC
Series: Lunaria Realms, Book 2
Author: @alexfrost.author
Will You Read More From This Author: Yes
Completed Series: No

Hold up! Did that just happen? Talk about a curve ball! That really did just happen. Sorry, you obviously don’t know what I’m talking about, but I just had to start with that before I went on. Frost upped her game with ACOFAS! Looking back there are easter eggs, just were just so misleading! I really need to know what’s going to happen. As you can see, this plot has hit me on the head. I also have so many questions about all the side characters and I now need side novels between this book and the next to see what’s going on with Rynn. Dang it! Read this book (P.S. I wrote this review last night to post today and my brain wouldn't stop thinking about this book. I literally lost sleep because this ending did so much to me!)

Who don’t I like? I think that is the better question. Even the alphaholes are likable in their bad boy, touch her, and die personas! Demetri! I don’t like him! There I found someone I disliked. But I love to hate him! Okay my favorite of them all will be no surprise! Draven!! The tortured soul that I just want to fix! I have a problem.

So it’s a why choose! That means multiple partners and group play. There are also kinks. I thought it was done perfectly! Just enough was done to satisfy me without hindering the plot. Frost also keeps it diverse, which I appreciate!

Triggers: Bad parenting, death, monsters, betrayal, foul language. You'll be fine with book two if you get through the first book without breaking.

A Court of Bones and Sorrow is the second installment in the Lunaria series that continues the enthralling journey Samara and her friends embark to keep the realm safe from the monsters that lurk in the shadows.

The Lunaria Realms series is incredibly diverse with POC representation, a Pan FMC and Non-binary love interest, and M/M romance. To continue, this is a rivals and enemies to lovers romance in a world of vampires, shifters, furies and fae with an intricate plot line full of twists and turns that will leave you eager for the next page.

Following up from the incredible cliffhanger in book one, A Court of Fangs and Deceit, I nose-dived straight into book two without even a second thought. I just *had* to find out what happened next and I was absolutely not disappointed.

Following around these incredibly diverse and enthralling characters has been such a wild and enchanting ride. I loved the multiple POV’s, the representation, the twists and turns, and the character development progression.

Most of the time, I have a hard time getting through why choose romances due to it being mostly spice and little plot, but this was so expertly well done and well balanced with the spice and plot that I found myself devouring it without hesitation.

And ANOTHER cliffhanger that made me audibly gasp?? I NEED to know what happens next. This will be living in the recesses of my brain for the foreseeable future until I can out what follows with Samara and the others!

This book is a smoldering five stars!

This is the second book in the Lunaria Realms series, a why choose romantasy series with fae, vampires, shifters and furies. Tropes and themes include a building why choose, a sassy and stabby FMC, why choose, court intrigue, found family, gender diversity and banter. See content warnings for dark themes and adult spice content.

The Lovely: Oh wow - this book was fantastic! I was giggling, cackling and shrieking right up until the end, when I started panicking. The plot is woven in with the characters and the reader is provided the opportunity to try and figure out how the pieces of the mystery fit together.

Also Lovely: I loved the characters and their relationships even more in this book. The why choose element is much more prominent and I appreciated how it wasn’t treated as a secretive or taboo thing. Samara once again proves she is sassy and smart (and stabby - only 7% of the way in and she launched a dagger at Alaric). Also, she still hasn’t mastered locking doors.

Rating: 4.5/5 Stars 3/5 Flames

Recommendation: I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The ending was wild - full of betrayals, shifting loyalties and big reveals. While it answered a few questions, we now have an entirely new set of issues to contend with. If you like a growing why choose romantasy with spice, mysteries and all matter of creatures, I think you’d like this book.

I’ll be sending you my therapy bills.

Once again, this book delivered in spectacular fashion.
The plot is intricate, nuanced and fast paced.
The spice is Red Hot Chili Pepper 🌶️ Delicious perfection.
Characters are fleshed out, complex and great to delve into.
So much mystery and drama and it was a delight to read.

Everyone obviously has mixed reactions, but Samara being the badass that she is, recognizes that she needs to be smart and see what he knows.

I love a series that just keeps getting better and better and I have to say that A Court of Bones and Sorrow gave us everything from the first book and more! I am falling more and more in love with Alex’s magical world building and character development in each book.

Alex does a wonderful job at balancing plot, relationship development and spice in this series. It is so cool watching each of the characters’ relationships with each other develop, while also following the political mystery that they are trying to solve.

Sam is amazing - no wonder everyone adores her. She is strong and fierce when protecting her House and loved ones, but she can also be soft and vulnerable with her people.

The introduction of Draven as a new character kept me completely enthralled during the entirety of this book. And per usual, the morally grey male character with a secret to hold stole my heart. So far, his and Sam’s banter has kept me smiling and their chemistry with Vail was off the charts! The spice was SPICIN but also the plot building had me glued to the pages. That ending???? Alex girl you did us dirty with that cliffhanger!

On a side note, I am super excited for Rynn’s POV in the upcoming books - I need to know what is happening with her and the Alpha pack!

Thanks so much to the lovely author for gifting me an ARC in exchange for my genuine thoughts!

A Court of Bones and Sorrow

Let’s start by saying that this was just simply fantastic! This book had me glued to the pages until the very end and the twists and turns… oh man there was a huge one I didn’t see coming! Well done!!

As far as the story goes, it picks up where the last one leaves off. There’s so much jammed packed into here and hardly a dull moment throughout. I absolutely loved the mystery and of course the romance. Let’s not forget about that.

I enjoyed the various relationships in this one and how they evolved and grew not only with Sam but that others as well. There was of course plenty of steamy scenes that were not to miss. My favorite of course is still Kieren. I just loved him but I’ll admit a certain someone grew on me throughout the story but I don’t want to give anything away!

The plot was engaging and full of action and suspense. I had a hard time putting this book down for any reason. I absolutely love the origins and various creatures of this world and really look forward to uncovering more.

So many good tropes in this one like enemies to lovers, established relationship, unequal social class, friends to lovers, secrets (so many!), betrayals, why choose, steamy, multiple POVs, one bed, touch them and xx, fierce FMC, possessive and protective MMCs, loads of tension, action, and so, so much more!!!

♥️ Roth - the bookworm. Not really a fan of people. Unless their name is Samara and they’re tied to their table with ribbons 😜
♥️ Vail - the grump. Can do far better things with that mouth than frowning all the time.
♥️ Draven - the cold hearted prince with a soft spot for a certain courtier…

I loved this book as much, if not more than the first. I’m so invested in Samara and her ever growing group of lovers. Alex has created a world you’ll never want to leave. The balance of story, character development and world building is just perfect.

It is an absolute honour to be part of your ARC team, I don’t ever want to leave 🥰

“You break my books, I break you.”
“I don’t abandon those I love. Maybe that’s something you should consider in the future.”
“I know nothing of dreams. The only thing I’ve ever known are nightmares.”
“We are fantastic at complicated relationships.”
“You tried to feed me to an overgrown insect.”

Great continuation to the series. This book picks up right where the first book, A House of Fangs & Deceit ended.

The relationships between Samara and her love interests continued to develop, with some new ones added to the mix. I liked how all her romantic partners had different types of personalities, characteristics, and also some non-binary representation. The chemistry and banter between Samara and her partners, and also between her partners, continued to be great.

The stakes were higher compared to the first book, and there was once again a lot happening. I enjoyed learning more about the history of Seelie and Unseelie, and Lunaria as a place.

The ending took me by surprise, and I can’t wait to read more!

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.

Holy Wow Cliffhanger

What a cliffhanger! I did not see the events at the end coming at all! The why choose was great in this book though it continued to make my head spin! We get a new coupling and a new troupling(?) In this one. I feel like there was plot with added spice in this one. It felt like the reverse to me in book 1. I really enjoyed the development of the plot and the relationship evolutions were really good. Samara is such a bad*ss but man she gets whooped (not in the fun way) a lot! I like that though because while she is really skilled with long-range weapons, she isn't impermeable and gets in trouble in this world full of monsters. She also really takes back control of herself and her life after being subservient for years. I love what she does to a certain grade A a**hole towards the end. It's glorious. We also get a lot more interaction with Rynn who is a wolf shifter bestie of Samara's and the FMC for the 2nd trilogy of this series so I'm very excited for that! I Listened to the audio for book 2 and I really enjoyed the performances by Eva Caine and Zane Daniels. Can't wait to listen to book 3!

This second book in the Lunaria Realms series will leave you clamoring for the next installment! Samara finds herself entangled in chaos-both with her love interests and the larger, perilous world around her. This book artfully balances steamy scenes with a plot that’s packed with unexpected twisted and mysteries you won’t anticipate.

The relationships deepen and get more intriguing here, making the why-choose dynamic a genuine highlight. Samara’s fiery personality shines through her clever (and occasionally dagger-wielding) moments. We also get a closer look at Rynn’s complicated storyline, opening up even more intrigue for book three. Get ready-this one’s packed with surprises and an ending that stings in the best way, leaving you eager for more!

I definitely recommend this book, especially if you enjoy these tropes:
✨Vampires, shifters, and fae
✨Rivals/Enemies to lovers
✨Why choose
✨Queer rep
✨Hot evil vampire prince
✨M/M romance
✨Court politics
✨Spice (2.5🌶️)

Thank you to the author and R&R Books Tours for the arc! 🥰🫶🏼

COURT OF BONES AND SORROW
BOOK II | LUNARIA REALMS

One of my most anticipated sequels of the season, Alex Frost's A Court of Bones and Sorrow is a sensational series continuation which boldly builds upon the conflicts, twists, dangers and romance detailed in Book I. A vibrant story which carries on seamlessly from the closing events of the initial volume, this sequel will keep all utterly captivated till the very end. With an unexpected proposal now presented to Sam and new villainous forces finally revealed, the twisty truth of Lunaria and the treacherous secrets that veil this land soon reveal an astonishing game of power where the lines between enemy and ally dramatically blur and a trail of chaos sparks in its wake.

Once again, I'm absolutely enamored by Frost's impeccably sketched storytelling and this series chapter catapults this tale to new heights, adding intensely rich depth to the emotional relationships in Sam orbit and sinks deeper into her mysterious heritage. As this story blooms, these enthralling pages skillfully unravel the intricately knit layers of Lunaria while revealing the astonishing truths embedded in the histories of this land's intriguing founding families and their unique powers. As I fell deeper into this narrative, it became vividly clear how well Frost brilliantly balances the strong points of tension across the core conflicts and dreamy romance throughout this tale. With stakes becoming impossibly high and risks mounting, this engaging story will keep readers turning its absorbing pages well into the night (as I certainly did!).

Much like the fantasy aspects of this narrative, Frost aces the romantic dynamics in this story which were all exceptionally well framed and thoughtfully delved into. I truly appreciated how every bond Sam sought to explore and nurture was given space on the page and added beautifully to both Sam's overall story and those involved with her in this aspect. As seen in Book I, Frost is incredibly skilled at spinning the steamiest spicy encounters and this volume was no exception. Carefully dotted throughout these pages with excitement & purpose, these passionate pauses are generously rendered and feel valuable to the respective stories of each character involved. It was such a treat to cross these moments and loved how Sam reclaims her confidence, power, and pleasure in these passionate scenes and encourages those with who she chooses to share these intimate moments to accept and acknowledge these same emotional comforts. Though best of all, it is the threads of emotion that weave so effortlessly in these moments, especially those with Kieran, that make these such memorable peaks in the story.

FINAL VERDICT // A riveting series continuation that thrills as much as it delights, Alex Frost's A Court of Bones and Sorrow offers an outstanding elevation to a wildly intriguing story of love and dicey dealings in a world which thrives upon a foundation of twisty mysteries and hidden truths. Keeping one mesmerized with its warmth, wit, and heart-galloping drama, this second novel chapter shines with a charming cast of diverse characters while its imaginative lore and jaw-dropping secrets steal every ounce of attention till its electrifying close. An absolute winner that delivers splendidly on all fronts, Frost has stacked the deck with risks and promises an incredible conclusion to Sam’s story that will surely blow me away -- I simply can't wait for this story's finale.

*A very big thank you to author Alex Frost for kindly sharing an ARC of this amazing sequel -- all thoughts, notes and final verdicts are freely and truthfully shared.

ADDITIONAL CHARACTER NOTES //
Draven | While I don't want to spoil anything, Draven's unanticipated arrival in this story adds such a zesty touch to this narrative and a punch of suspicion which had me feeling a range of emotions for his character.

Alaric | How nice it is to finally see new facets of this character. It was so moving to get a glimpse into his long-standing traumas/deep emotions and see Al enjoy moments of much needed satisfaction and shameless release.

Vail | The epitome of "if bad, why hot?" Vail remains one of the most deliciously frustrating characters in this series. With that ending, I feel strongly about strangling him or burying a sharp knife into his flesh. Can't wait to see how his story unfolds in the final piece of this riveting trilogy.

This is such a good sequel!! In the Court of Bones and Sorrow, Prince Draven has come to court Sam and he's got a lot of secrets she needs to uncover before she can trust him. How far is he entrenched with the fae and is he going to sabotage their work on the monster crisis? And will his presence hurt the blooming relationships she has with her guys?

So the spice DEFINITELY picks up in this one 🔥🔥 I thought this was a great follow up to A House of Fangs and Deceit. I feel like the plot was really well balanced with the steaminess.

I'm so curious to see what's going on with Cali. I'm also really hoping for a Rynn spinoff with the Alpha Pack!! 🐺🐺 There's a whole lot going on there and I wanna read it! 😂

I did not see that ending coming 🤯 I was leaning towards 4⭐ initially, but the end really put it over the top for me 🌟. And that cliffhanger!?! Dude. I need the next one likeeeeee now.

Thanks so much RR Book Tours and Alex Frost for my copy 🩷

The way I've been enjoying this series! A Court of Bones and Sorrow is book 2 in the Lunaria Realms series, and it continues right where Alex left us after that cliffhanger from book 1.

I loved how we begin to uncover so much in this story: what are Samara's parents hiding, and who is controlling the wraiths? Also, the relationships, the banter, and the spice are amazing; all of them together work so well. The multiple POVs are always helpful to get a full depiction of the story, and I really loved it.

This book reads fast, there's no rest between the action, the troubles they get into, the drama and romance and so much more.

As always I loved the world, Alex builds a world and characters with so much depth that you can't help to love them all. This series is growing so beautifully that I can't wait for book 3!

Thank you for the opportunity to read this as an ARC!
