What a CUTE book!
I adored this quick, fun read about Sammy and her chaotic life. Sammy, divorced mom of two very energetic and unfiltered boys, recently moved to New York City to be closer to her sister and for a fresh start. Her sister, Brooke, a high profile romance author, is determined to play matchmaker. Sammy is more than resistant as her life just seems too busy and crazy. Her oldest son almost gets expelled (such a funny scene!), her youngest breaks his arm, and her nanny is moving to go to grad school. Throughout these and many other unfortunate events, Sammy's plate is just too full, or is it?
Enter in Noah and Gavin. One is a hot doctor (and advocated by Sammy's sister to date), and the other is a businessman and also hot. As Sammy tries to navigate dating with motherhood, work (she is a general manager of a popular NYC restaurant), and ensuring her high risk pregnant sister is ok, she learns a lot about letting go, letting good things happen to her, and finding out who is truly in her corner.
There were some twists and turns in this book, some I did not see coming. I think they added some interesting and complex layers to an overall cute. rompy romance. While there is a book before this that introduces Brooke and her fiance, this can be read as a standalone without missing a beat. I absolutely LOVED the references to things such as Friends, The Office, and Rookie of the Year. There was a good amount of laughs had while reading and just enough steam to spice it up a little.
