The Billionaire Is Back

Rate this book
People in this small town are whispering…
What they’re saying is that the billionaire is back and he’s going after his best friend’s sister.
What I’m trying to do is help Claire Sweeney’s bakery business.
What I haven’t been able to admit to myself is that in all this time, no matter how hard I tried, I never forgot her.
Now she’s all grown up. I can’t stop thinking about her muffin.
Or how guilty I feel when I fantasize about buttering it.

Claire has always been as much a part of Beacon Harbor as the hanging flower baskets, the boat tours, and the lobster races.
She has no idea how beautiful I think she is.
Even when she has flour on her face.
Even when she’s rolling her eyes at me.

I’ve got her brother’s approval, but now it’s Claire that I really have to convince.
She doesn’t believe we have the right ingredients for a real relationship—so she only agrees to pretend to be my girlfriend to help me close a deal in New York.
I believe she’s about to discover exactly how I roll when I know what I want.
And what I want is her.

Amazon Top 25 and USA Today bestselling author Kayley Loring spent many years as a screenwriter (under a different name) in Los Angeles before moving to the Pacific Northwest to live out her childhood dream of being a Disney heroine who talks and sings to woodland creatures. When not trying to keep animals alive, she’s writing steamy romantic comedy novels, obviously. She’s breathing cleaner air, writing dirtier words, and staring at her computer screen until her eyeballs dry out instead of prancing around Southern California in miniskirts and going to the hair salon. Still waiting for the woodland creatures to clean her house, though.

Read or listen to Kayley’s books when you want humor, heat, and heart. You’ll enjoy top-notch banter, strong heroines, lovable characters you’d want to know in real life and you’ll swoon over perfectly imperfect book boyfriends. I couldn't connect with the characters, therefore I wasn't very invested in the story and right now, I barely remember anything. What I do recall was the beginning and why I didn't like it. The first chapter was a flashback describing a party and establishing that the FMC had a crush on her brother's best friend and because it was from her POV we can't be sure he reciprocated. After a silly, drunken incident, the chapter ends, letting us know that there's little chance the MCs will see each other soon. So of course the next chapter is set in the present time, more than a decade later than chapter 1, and here starts my frustration. Maybe I was in a certain mood but I felt quite done right then with the book and the heroine. From what I understood, there was little interactions between the MCs during that time period, they definitely haven't seen each other in several years. And yet the heroine was still so into him. It wasn't the "this time I'm gonna get him" type of feelings but the fact that she couldn't really move on... It's not like they were highschool sweethearts or had once been madly in love with each other, no. She had a crush on a cool boy who - of course - got around with the girls and everyone knew he wanted to leave the town posthaste. He was nice to her and just started to notice her body, that she was growing up. I really was not in the mood for one MC to be so head over s'mores the other MC that no time passed and distance between them diminished those feelings. It wasn't a second chance romance trope because they didn't have a first chance romance. I am so disappointed.

2.0 generous stars. I adore this author but this book was not her best effort and a huge miss for me. The story moved sooo slow and was agonizingly long at 466 pages. The main characters spent more time apart than together which meant tons of filler. And there was none of the laughs or humor I've come to expect from KL's books. I wanted to mark this one as a DNF, but made myself slog through. There are so many 5 star reviews here that I wonder if they read the same book that I did. So disappointed.

‘It’s in my nature to take control of anything I care about. Anything I want. I suppose that’s one of the reasons I’ve struggled so much with caring about Claire…if I decide to make her mine, she will be all mine.’

Ahhhhh there really is something to be said about how it feels to be back with Kayley Loring and Connor Crais. The dynamic writing duo! When life knocks you back, picking Kayley’s books up never fails to take us to our happy place. There’s just something incredibly special and addictive to the storytelling. Once again, these two Authors have brought back our smiles, our laughter, made our hearts swoon and of course increased our heart rates and freezer time. It’s been wonderful and we’ve enjoyed every moment of The Billionaire is Back, with Claire the master-baker and the gorgeous Grady -Sir, can we have some s’more please- CEO extraordinaire. Oh, and the chapter headings are GOLD!

🧁 Bet You Think This Scone Is About You

What we really love about Claire and Grady’s love story is the perfect pacing without unnecessary drama. Because of this- it feels so real, so engaging, so believable and completely character driven the whole way through. We loved Claire bear, we admired her for the way she loves with her whole heart, her resilience, her self-worth, and her goddess status baking skills! Grady was de-LUSH-ious, he has such a big heart under that Armani suit. He fights for what he wants and goes through quite the journey in this story.

’I’m the quirky small-town baker, and he’s the golden-boy billionaire whose dreams are too big for a small town.’

We came to love the small town of Beacon Harbor and desperately want to go visit. We want to grab a coffee and a carrot muffin at Claire’s bakery as we mosey on down to the beach to watch lobsters with funny names racing slow mo across the sand as we discuss half price choccy chip cookies with Crabby Crawtree.

”I want you to know I’m coming after you.”

This book is wonderfully funny and heartwarming and just what we needed in our lives. Hurrah for Kayley and Connor taking us to our happy place for a while, we can’t wait for them to take us there again!

5 stars!

Funny, sexy, and beautifully romantic, this book made me laugh and swoon, and gave me all the feels. A brother’s best friend, childhood crush, all-consuming billionaire love story (and even a little fake relationship thrown in), this book has so many fabulously fun tropes, and I loved every single moment of it!

Claire Sweeney grew up in a small town in Maine with a massive crush on her brother’s best friend. Grady was always sweet to her, but never really saw her as anything other than Jake’s little sister. He left town to make a name for himself, and now he’s a billionaire living the high life in New York City. When a family emergency brings him home for the first time in years, he gets a chance to revisit his past, and he’s in for a massive shock when he runs into grown-up Claire.

My heart seizes.
Claire. Claire Sweeney is coming toward me.
Those gray-blue eyes lock with mine, and she freezes.
I haven’t been going back in time – I’ve rocketed into the future.

Their reunion gave me tingles, and I was so excited, bouncing with anticipation as we see them reconnect. Claire wants to protect her heart, and she tries to keep her distance, but Grady is instantly all up in her business. He is bold and confident, and he goes after what he wants, and what he wants is Claire.

“I’ve had real reasons for holding back my feelings about you. but after last night, I realize those reasons are like anything else that has ever stood in the way of what I want. The obstacles aren’t what matter. It’s what I want that matters. I want you, Claire.”

Grady is a master at wooing, and they are out there with the declarations and all the feels, and it’s freaking awesome!

“I want you to know that I’m coming after you,” he whispers.
My mouth goes dry and I’m finding it difficult to swallow. “Excuse me?” I squeak.
“I’m going to seduce you, Sweeney.
When I do, I don’t what you to accuse me of skulking around and being underhanded or two-faced.” He brushes a strand of hair from my forehead. “When I make you mine, I want you to know that I did it head-on.”

They get to know each other once again, and the attraction between them absolutely sizzles! And as they banter, flirt and tease, the tension builds brilliantly, and I love watching everything between them start to shift. Best of all, they are so honest with each other! It’s taken them YEARS to get to this stage, but they’re in a place where they know what they want and they’re ready to claim it. It’s emotional and all kinds of hot, and I was here for it!

“God, I don’t know if I would have survived tonight if I couldn’t make you mine, Claire.”
“You can. I’m yours.”
Bowing his head, he whispers to my neck, “Finally, finally.”

It’s wonderfully fun and romantic. I was swept up in their mad attraction, their wild passion, and their intense love for each other, and was right there with them as they navigated the reality of their new relationship. Their fierce love each other shines off the page. They want to be together, but their lives are very different, and they have to work at it, but it’s so, so worth it for the promise of all that they could be.

This book gives us the complete journey – from teen longing to admitting feelings, coming together, watching them start to build their life as a couple and overcoming obstacles, and beyond. I laughed and smiled, and fell hard for these two, and I loved their story.

There’s a fantastic cast of supporting characters – their parents are so funny, and both Grady and Claire have brothers that are screaming for their own stories (Grady’s brother in particular, who is a complex one and who seems to have a little something brewing with Claire’s feisty best friend, Vera). I cannot wait for more from this series.

Such a fun and entertaining read. 5 stars.

I really enjoyed this Billionaire, childhood friends to lovers romance. This book was definitely a fun read with all the witty chapter headings (which I absolutely adored) and then the fun names for all the lobsters...yes lobsters.

Claire has been in love with Grady since she was a little girl. But she thought he always saw her as his best friend's little sister. One night right before he graduates high school, she thinks she sees something in his eyes so she makes a move but he puts a stop to it and she is hurt and devastated that he doesn't feel the same way. Now she needs to try and forget about him and her unrequited feelings.

Grady has always had a vision and plan for his future. He wasn't going to struggle and worry about money like his parents did. But when a family emergency brings him back to Beacon Harbor, Grady is forced to face his feelings that he's been hiding all along. But he also must deal with a major deal he's trying to close at work and now he's not sure how to find the balance between work and a love with Claire.

I loved seeing these two find and admit to their love for one another. Claire's dreams are all coming true with her bakery and her Grady. But is it too good to be true when business takes precedence over love for Grady. Grady and Claire both have to figure out what will make their hearts truly happy and how to make it a reality.

Also have to give a shout out to my favorite secondary character...Clarence "Crabby" Crawford. The little old man made me smile so many times.

Audiobook Review:

First, let me start off by saying Connor Crais has an amazing voice! One of my favorites!

This book is silly and funny. I feel like they tried a little too hard to pack in every single non-dark trope to exist in this, but if you need a lighthearted, easy listen with some spice then this is a good choice.

It’s not my favorite but not the worst either

Loved the humor, as always.
But he put her up in her own house like she was his mistress, and everyone was ok with that..?
I’m sorry. I feel like the third act breakup should’ve happened much sooner.🤷🏻‍♀️

I have a serious craving for dark chocolate and swoony billionaires! The Billionaire is Back by Kayley Loring and Connor Crais is simply the perfect dash of sweet small-town mixed lavishly with all the spicy billionaire! Add in some brother’s best friend, a little pinch of fake dating with twelve years of pining and you have an exquisite recipe for LOVE. (See what I did there?!) I fell hard for Grady and Claire’s delicious love story, and the amusing people and quaint coastal town of Beacon Heights, Maine.

Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais perform this audiobook in dual narration, and both truly embodied the slow-burning tension between Claire and Grady! Samantha’s sassy sultry tone perfectly conveyed Claire’s vulnerable and passionate persona as she overcame pent-up feelings from the past and gave into slow yearning desires for Grady. Connor’s melodious baritone voice complimented Grady’s confident, charismatic, and determined personality as he gave into temptation and spoiled Claire with all his irresistible billionaire ways. Both Samantha and Connor also blew me away with the various character voices they portrayed including my favorite, Crabby Crawford!

Overall, I LOVED this book! If you are a fan of a small-town romance with a hot hunky billionaire CEO, a sweet and spirited baker, small coastal towns in Maine, s’mores, supportive families, coming home again, lobster races, closing a big deal, NYC fancy galas, slow-burn so good spice, mega yachts, pastry puns, neckties, quirky town folk, vibe fun steam, discovering what truly matters, and a HEA that is the icing on the cake, then you will love Claire and Grady’s story. I always look forward to more from Kayley and Connor!

I wanted to love it, but the premise asked too much of me: Claire and Grady meet again after twelve years, and they realize they were waiting for each other. Nope, not buying it.

Okay, yes, I ended up buying it because the authors managed to convince me. Through maybe too many comparisons with other people Claire and Grady dated, and a whole bunch of cute memories. In the end, I’m not sure the gap was necessary. Anyway, because they write compelling characters, funny situations, witty dialogues and sexy sexy times, it works.

What drives people, is the question they try to answer with Grady and Claire’s story. Why has Grady decided to leave their small town to become rich? Why is Claire determined to keep her bakery open? Why did they never act on their mutual attraction? And ultimately, what are they ready to sacrifice to make their relationship work?

Once I had accepted that, yes, Claire’s crush on her brother’s best friend had never faded, and yes, Grady had been looking for–and never found–another Claire in the women he had dated, I was able to enjoy the way they reconnected, and how their feelings developped. The funny thing was that, even though Claire had clearly been holding on to her crush all those years, Grady was the one completely enamored with adult Claire.

That means: seduction! Grady pulls out all the stops to convince Claire to give him a chance. Gifts, dates, compliments… Because he has one major flaw: he’ll soon be leaving, and Claire wants to stay in their small town. That’s the first act. I won’t give away the rest of the story, but let’s just say he succeeds.

Small town means colorful side characters, and you won’t be disappointed. Not one of them is boring. And the authors already hint at the next love stories they’ll write in this series.

There’s one thing I loved the most. See, this is a billionaire romance. The guy is extremely rich. And he throws money in extravagant gifts and dates. When I say extravagant, I mean it. Usually, in billionaire romance, the heroe’s money is here to make the characters’ life easier. Grady just does whatever he wants without a care in the world. It felt so ‘too much’ that it was endearing. Like the authors wanted to laugh at the trope.

Never too heavy, but not without depth either, it was a mostly great book. I can’t wait for the next.

Quickie

- Series: Beacon Harbor #1 (can be read as a standalone)
- Hashtags: #small town romance #billionaire romance #brother’s best friend
- Triggers: N/A
- Main couple: Claire Sweeney & Grady Barber
- Hotness: 4/5

Another win for these duo authors! I enjoyed Claire and Grady’s story so much. It’s a best friend’s sister, small town, second chance romance with fun secondary characters in the small town of Beacon Harbor, Maine.

Claire has crushed on Grady for as long as she can remember. One night, when she was 16, she attempted to kiss him and feels like she embarrassed herself. He didn’t kiss her back. He graduated from high school the next day and left town for an internship before college.

Now, twelve years later he is back in Beacon Harbor after his father had a health scare. He sees Claire and all the feelings he felt (but couldn’t and wouldn’t show) come back. And, of course, Claire never stopped loving him. (That’s the only thing that really bothered me about this story-how quick Grady was to realize his feelings for her, once he was back in his hometown, yet never did anything once he was a billionaire for twelve years?)

This is a fun, low angst, dual POV romance with two very likable main characters. I kept imagining the author’s voice when reading Grady’s POV. Grady is an amazing book boyfriend, spending dollar after dollar on Claire. Sign me up!

Thank you to the authors for an advanced readers copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Not only is the Billionaire back... so are Kayley Loring and Connor Crais. "The Billionaire is Back" is a steamy, fun, and laugh out loud brother's best friend Billionaire romance that ticks all the boxes of an amazing rom-com.

Claire has had a crush on her brother's best friend, Grady, for as long as she can remember. But after a rejection 12 years ago, Claire has moved on. She is living her dream as a bakery owner in the small town they grew up in. But after all this time, Grady is back. His father had a minor health issue and is there to check on him. And now that he's succeeded in the business world, he's ready to prove to Claire that she's the one for him.

Ever since this book was announced, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Kayley and Connor are an amazing writing duo and I love reading the stories they released together. Claire is genuine, caring. smart and so relatable. I loved how she followed her dreams to own her own bakery and worked hard to make it a reality. Grady is just as driven and that shows in how much he accomplished as a businessman. And man, when he's determined to prove to Claire that he's all in, he pulls out all the stops. I'm just like Claire, I would never have resisted all that swoony charm. They had great banter and a connection that started with the friendship they had as a kid. And those steamy scenes were a steamy buffet of variety. Their relationship was sweet and natural, the best kind. I loved the ending and the bonus epilogues from each of the authors made this story even more special.

Yay!! Kayley Loring and Connor Crais co-authoring magic has been woven again. From start to finish, this book is infused with a delicious warmth as Claire and Grady negotiate a way into each others lives after a long separation. Grady, off in the wilds of New York to make his fortune and become a titan in the business world, and Claire in love with her home town and all things bakery, are reunited in a story which delights, is filled with wit, humour, love, family and friends and longing. They have never forgotten each other, though in Grady's case his drive to amass a wealth which is unassailable, has pushed that memory into a corner of his mind....but now he cannot avoid the call of his heart.
Claire is just so lovely. She is kind, thoughtful and loyal. I also loved Vera and her third person conversations. This is just yet another clever technique that this writing duo excel at. This means that we are given the gift of a wonderfully put together story with love at its heart. Fabulous! 💖💖💖💖💖

This was so funny. I can't count how many times I laughed out loud!!

Claire inner monogules were honestly hilarious.

Grady is everything a swonny billionaire should be.

Samantha Brentmoor excelled as Claire and delivered her lines that made me laugh so much and fall in love with Claires character. Also all the side characters she voiced 🙌 Her crabby was everything.

Connor as Grady was so swoony and he really made me feel the emotion when delivering some of the lines.

TBIB is the first book in a new series by Kayley Loring and Connor Crais.

Grady is CEO of a real estate development company, back in his hometown of Beacon Harbor because his dad is having health issues.

Claire owns a bakery that isn’t doing as well as she’d hoped. She was in love with Grady as teen, but he rejected her before going off to college. She’s spent years getting over him, but needs his business advice.

Grady also had a crush on Claire, but didn’t think he was good enough for her. Can he rise to the occasion, take a whisk, and convince her that they’re a batch made in heaven? Or will he crumble under pressure? 😉

I really enjoyed this book. It encompasses everything I love about a KayCo collab. It’s funny, it’s steamy, it’s swoony. I love all the supporting characters and can’t wait to see more from this town.

I love Kayley and Connor individually, but think they both bring out the best in each other when they write together and hope the continue to do so. I feel like they teased another book with Vera and Damien, which should be a fun one!

Thank you to Kayley & Connor. I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

This beautiful story has me all in my feels and craving s'mores. Grady and Claire are so much more than just a brother's best friend love story. You felt the longing from them both on every page and I was here for all of it. I loved this wonderful small town and I'm so excited for more stories, I hope (like Jake the firefighter:) )

I needed a light read after the book I just finished. And after reading a few books by Kayley and Connor I knew they were the place to start! These two together have written some super fun books! And I can always count on the narration to be top tier. I adore the fact that Connor narrates the books they write together! If you know me you know he's been a favorite of mine for years! This man could read me the back of a shampoo bottle and I would be swooning!

The book was exactly what I needed!

I fell hard for these characters and FAST!

Grady might be a billionaire in the city used to getting his way, but Claire gave him a run for his money! I loved how bratty she was. And how he had ZERO problem putting her in her place in the most delicious way. 🔥 These two had some unbelievable chemistry. The playful banter between them was hilarious! And the history between them only made it better!

"𝑺𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏’𝒕 𝒉𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒊𝒕 𝒆𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓. 𝑾𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒐 𝒇𝒂𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒊𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒏𝒐𝒘. 𝒀𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒓𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒍𝒐𝒕 𝒐𝒇…𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆. 𝑻𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆. 𝑹𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒕. 𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒐𝒍𝒅."

Grady was perfect. The way he took care of Claire while boosting her confidence... SWOON!!

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW:
Both of these Narrators are a favorite of mine so I knew I was going to love this audio. But what I wasn't expecting was the HEAT! Oh my gosh! This was wayyy hotter than I expected. I loved everything about it from listening to Connor's growly voice while he narrates Grady punishing Claire. No words. Just. HOT. It was all HOT. 🔥 My brain kinda short-circuited. Then to Samantha's sweet voice confessing her love for Grady and explaining to everyone how long she had been in love with him! The audio was perfect!

If you love childhood crush to lovers in a small town!
This one's for you!

I can't wait for the upcoming release!

Claire has had a crush on her brother’s best friend Grady since they were kids. But timing was never right for them. Now that Grady is back in town temporarily, is now the time for them?

Tropes:

🧁 Billionaire romance
🧁Small town
🧁 Childhood friends to strangers to lovers
🧁Brother’s best friend
🧁Big city MMC/Small town FMC
🧁So much banter

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Spice level: 🌶️🌶️
Angst level: 💔

Grady has always had his ambitions high and his need to be the best and richest was always his number one goal. So, when his best friend’s sister tried to kiss him at the end of his senior year, he knew that he had to shut it down and now on with his life.

Twelve years later he is back in town to see his father and family after an accident and the first person he sees is Claire, his best friend’s sister. Who he hasn’t stopped thinking about for years. And when he finds out that he is the perfect person to help her struggling business, the two of them start spending a lot of time together.

With that time, brings back all those dormant feelings and they start to get harder and harder to ignore. So they start something up knowing that the distance is going to be hard. But will they be able to push through and come out stronger on the other side, or are they destined from the start?

As usual, with all Kayley and Connor books, I was laughing out loud so many times! That is my favorite thing about their books. Aside from that, I absolutely loved these characters. Grady and Claire were so unique, but so right together. I loved how they were able to navigate their new relationship and how they were able to find a solution by the end.

Both families were also great and heavily involved in this book!

One thing I will tell you is, when you read 𝙺𝚊𝚕𝚎𝚢 𝙻𝚘𝚛𝚒𝚗𝚐/𝙲𝚘𝚗𝚗𝚘𝚛 𝙲𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚜 collab, you get sass, you get charm, you get snarky banter and amazing characters. I can't tell you how excited I was for this one!

Claire and Grady were amazing characters! They came to life for me as their story unfolded. The crushing, the banter between them, the sparks of chemistry between them is absolutely undeniable as you fall for Grady and Claire through the story.

My knees shook & I swooned so many times as I watched Grady reconnect with Claire when he saw her. The longing he has for her, he lets it be known in the best ways! And Claire....well I felt for with her unrequited love! I've been there! But, she overcame, and built a life for herself. When Grady returns.....well, let's just say she's one lucky girl and I would love to be her!

If you love a story that will make you swoon, feel giddy for the characters, and make you laugh out loud, then this is for you. You'll fall head over heels in love with the billionaire, his baker, and the full cast of characters we meet in this romcom from two epic authors!

Once again, Kayley Loring and Connor Crais have spun hilariously funny, steamy and heartbreaking magic. I know I can always expect many laugh-out-loud moments from this writing duo and this book is no exception. In between the comedic parts, there is a great story. This is not a typical billionaire book. The addition of the small town and brother's best friend trops gives this story so much heart.
Grady and Claire are a great couple and I loved their story. I hope to get more from the residents of Beacon Harbor. I feel like they would be fun to get to know better, especially Grady's brother, Damien.

Quirky small town meets brother’s best friend in this wonderful little story about Claire, a girl who bought a bakery in the small town she grew up in, and Grady, her brother’s best friend , the boy who left and became a highly successful businessman.

Everything in this book was solid. The whole story about how they left things back in high school and the way they found their way back to each other was so well written, and the quirkiness of the small town was hilarious. This story had me laughing at the high points and there were actual tears on some of the low points.

Would recommend this book

The Billionaire Is Back is a hilarious and emotional story following Claire, a baker, and Grady, a billionaire. I loved the mutual pining and how well they fit together! They definitely had me swooning, laughing, and fanning myself!

These two have always had feelings for one another but Grady needed to pursue his dreams of more in the big city. Honestly, I think it was good for both of them because they matured into wonderful people. When Grady decides he wants something, he's all in. Watching him go after Claire with everything he had was amazing! She is stubborn, feisty, and so kind. I love how she helps Grady to find his true happiness and how he supports her dreams. They do have one big obstacle in their way and that's distance. Watching them figure out their future was perfect!

If you're looking for a low angst, hilarious, high steam story, look no further!

I received an ARC for an honest review.

I received this as an arc from Give Me Books Promotions and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.

This was an amazing brother’s best friend romance. It was my first time reading a book by these authors but it definitely won’t be my last. It was really well written and had a great pace. The storyline was entertaining and I loved the naming of the chapters. Claire and Grady had such a strong connection and their chemistry was off the charts. I just loved this story.

Just like a perfectly made s’more, The Billionaire Is Back is layered with so much deliciousness! Beacon Harbor is small-town charming and its inhabitants are hilarious. Balancing out the fun and silly shenanigans is Claire and Grady’s beautifully written love story that made my heart melt. Loved it!

Buoy this was fun!

I’m excited for Kayley and Connor’s new series together. Book one, The Billionaire Is Back, is a fabu start!

I honestly can’t tell where Kayley ends and Connor starts. The writing feels pretty seamless after so many books together. I adore Kayley’s sarcasm ( or is it Connor’s?)

Grady and Claire have all the spice and magic and I was hooked by the first page. A match made in bakery heaven!

DNF @ 52% Seems like we were just supposed to be amazed by the MMC’s money and status, and forget that there was no relationship.

** Based on ARC copy **

It's a tale as old as time...A girl crushing on her brother's best friend but he has big plans that take him far away for many years. Then one day he walks into her bakery - looking more scrumptious than a Nutella s'more (the nerve!) - and throws her kitchen into complete disarray. Little does she know that her old flame won't be able to resist sampling her confections on this visit home. But can an empire-building billionaire and a small-town loving baker find a way to fold their ambitions together into a fairytale happily ever after?

Kayley Loring and Connor Crais whipped up a masterpiece with The Billionaire is Back. I swear I gained ten pounds just reading the first few pages then laughed them off between the chapter headings, the vibrator settings (IYKYK), the crustacean monikers and crotchety cookie consumers. This book had all the trademark humor, steam and heart of a Kayley and Connor book while proving that it's never too late to pursue your dream, even if doing so requires a little course correction.

KL and CC are an incredible writing duo, bringing the perfect amounts of banter, steam and character depth to their newest romantic comedy. The Billionaire is Back brings wanna be high school sweethearts together twelve years later in their home town with hilarity (lobster races), supporting characters that make you laugh (and cringe occasionally) and steamy tech bindings you don’t want to miss!

The Billionaire is Back is an utterly entertaining romcom. Kayley Loring and Connor Crais write a steamy and hilarious brother’s best friend romance that also includes small town shenanigans and s’mores.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Pastry chef Claire has been longing for her brother’s best friend Grady since high school. Grady is smart and ambitious, and since he left tiny Beacon Harbor, Maine, he’s become a billionaire. But when he returns to town for a family emergency, Claire is the first person he sees and he’s blown away. While it’s clear they both still have strong feelings for each other, Claire is afraid it could never work out. But Grady didn’t get where he is by taking no for an answer. He just needs to convince Claire they are meant to be, whether they are attending NYC galas or local lobster races.

I’m a huge fan of romcoms with plenty of heat and humor. Claire and Grady’s story definitely fits the bill. And while it takes them a while to get there, Claire’s misgivings after 12 years of trying to forget Grady make sense. Aside from the usual small town romance beats, this story adds lobster racing too; names like Clawdia Swiffter and Crustaceous Clay, along with punny chapter titles are highlights. If these names make you giggle endlessly, you’ll have a great time reading this book.

This book is tons of fun. if you like a low angst story with lots of steam and humor, you’ll adore The Billionaire is Back. The only side effects are uncontrollable laughter and an insatiable craving for baked goods while reading.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A brand new series from Kayley and Connor? Sign me up!

Brand new characters, brand new setting, a tropetastic story!

Brother’s best friend. Small town. A baker and a billionaire. Fabulous.

As expected from one of their books, there were laughs a-plenty and some swoony moments. AND THE HEAT!! My goodness.

I want to visit Beacon Harbor. Especially for a lobster race (read the book and you’ll get it!) and some of Claire’s treats!

Looking forward to more!
