Ignacio Tinoco, Jr. (1930-2016) was a Professor of Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico in 1951, and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1954.
