The author’s design style is a bit more colorless and modern than mine, but there were some beautiful photographs and practical ideas in here which I enjoyed
Four stars for plentiful, beautiful photography, and some details such as measurements for certain areas and things like that. That was useful information, and the photos were inspirational. But star deducted for lack of color. Oh my gosh. Are you kidding me? I could not live in any of these rooms, or at least not for very long. I understand there are people who crave this neutral palette, but I am not one of them. (And when I say neutral palette, I mean beige and white.) This book was clearly meant for someone else. I am a maximalist. That said, she had some nice bookshelves, even if they were a little bit bare. I also loved her penchant for statement chandeliers, and her use of materials to add texture - such as rattan, wicker, and shells. I guess what I need is a book geared less towards expansive, mcmansion rooms and more towards cozy, lived-in rooms full of precious objects. This was all too bare for me. No personality. I know, it is mean of me to dock a book because it doesn't fit my taste. But in this case, I think 4 stars is pretty generous. All I could think of was how I could fill those rooms so beautifully.
Beautiful photos but seems more like a humble brag by the author. I didn't feel like there was much of a "guide" or instructions on How to DIY something so if that's what you're planning to do, do not bother with this book. if you plan to hire a design firm, maybe this can help but it's not very "in depth" on "how to decorat"
