When a local psychic reduces Chicago's popular, down-to-earth sportscaster Tim Weigel to tears, his daughter Jenniffer questions her own spiritual beliefs. Stay Tuned is Jenniffer"s story of a father and daughter's journey from materialistic journalists to spiritually attuned spiritual beings--a journey that continues even after his death. During his illness, while Tim turns to alternative treatments like chi gong and reiki sessions, Jenniffer reads Neale Donald Walsch, starts a spiritual diet plan and uses the law of attraction to find free parking spaces. The book takes you on a witty, irreverent trip through popular spiritual beliefs and insights of masters and celebrities, including Don Miguel Ruiz, James Van Praagh and Russell Crowe, as this intelligent, award-winning broadcaster transforms from "cynical daughter" to "spiritual woman."
I read this book because it was a memoir written by Jenniffer Weigel the daughter of Tim Weigel, a well known Chicago Sportscaster. Tim Weigel died at the age of 55 from a cancerous brain tumor. This book is about spirituality, indecision, unhappiness and what possibly happens to your spirit when you die. According to the author she communicated with her Dad through mediums after his death. I have always believed that both my Mom and Dad have communicated with me at different times but some might find this book a little far fetched. I did become a little tired of all the quotes from spirituality and self-help books.
After “Stay Tuned” arrived in the mail I initially sat down just to scan it, but quickly got so drawn into the story that I read the entire book in one evening. That’s something I hadn’t done in perhaps 10 years or more. I found Ms. Weigel’s writing to be very heartfelt and down-to-earth in style, and the story itself was very compelling. In some sense it’s hard to classify this work, as one could call it an insightful spiritual and personal growth book, yet at the same time it is a very personal memoir about how she dealt with the loss of her father to a very devastating terminal illness. In either case it’s a wonderful book, and as such, I highly recommend it.
A leap of faith is what Jenniffer took in Spring of 2002 from her well-known broadcasting career for her search for peace, harmony and understanding of something more. On her daring journey, she encountered several experiences from beyond this world that confirmed, clarified and validated her choice to pursue a new path, at that time. This book offers hope to those who seek more than what they currently are experiencing, despite the allure of fame and fortune.
I was immediately drawn to this book as I too lost my father around the same age and have always searched for a connection to him and expecting him to literally pop up in my face one day. Well, this book taught me differently, staying connected is not about always looking and expecting but about remembering and being present to the moment because that is when the real stuff happens! The book is full of love and humor, a great read!
I’ve always said that certain books will jump out at you just when you need them most and this is no exception... I worked at Read Between the Lynes back in 2007 when this book was released and we had Jenniffer in for a discussion as part of the Women and Words series ... I later borrowed a copy of the book from my grandmother, intending on reading it, but it kept being pushed aside until wound up on my bookshelf ... for some reason, last week, it started calling to me and I pulled it down and finally started reading. The author’s desire to do something that mattered, something that made a difference, and something that made her feel whole with her career (I’m paraphrasing) mirrors my own current status and employment wishes and the loss of her father (legendary sports caster, Tim Weigel) runs in a similar path to the loss of my grandfather (sudden and unexpected with a lot unsaid). I am walking away from this read with a better outlook and a new set of eyes when it comes to what I want to do with my career and how I intend to get what I need. #thankyouinadvance #imspiritualdammit #bethechange #makeadifference
I listened to this on audiobook and really enjoyed it! This was completely written from the heart and really sparks your faith in being able to communicate with loved ones who have died. I really appreciated the honesty, frustration, and hopefulness. It was definitely emotional at times, but also inspirational. There were a few times my mind started to wander but I think this was partially because the story itself was so soothingly told. I wanted more information on how to find authentic mediums. I think this writer’s position of privilege gave her extreme access to like, the best people out there. What about me?! I would happily read this author again.
The story itself was very compelling. I listened to the audio book, and I must say Jenniffer read it with so much emotion while mixing in some humor.
She is just like the rest of us in searching for answers during grief and loss. I enjoyed her humor and insight from various references. Jenniffer's adventures, misadventures with numerous psychics and mediums as she seeks to communicate with her father in the great beyond.

I listened to the audio book and I must say Jen read it with so much emotion while mixing in some humor. It is very well written and so very interesting. It got me thinking and I'm sure it will do the same to whomever reads or listens to the book.
This book opened my mind to some things that were not necessarily spiritual but just good advice. I didn't find it preachy, just a good story on Weigel's journey through enlightenment. I took away some gems of solid advice.
“Stay Tuned: Conversations with Dad from the Other Side” is the third book I’ve read (well, listened to) by Jenniffer Weigel, and I can’t recommend the audiobook version enough—especially since Jenniffer narrates it herself. Her warm, witty, and conversational tone brings the material to life, making the experience feel intimate and deeply engaging.
In this heartfelt and humorous memoir, Jenniffer takes readers on a moving journey as she searches for spiritual meaning during the illness and eventual loss of her father, beloved sportscaster Tim Weigel. As Tim turns to alternative therapies like chi gong and reiki, Jenniffer explores her own path—reading Neale Donald Walsch, trying a “spiritual diet,” and even using the law of attraction to score free parking. After her father’s passing, she does everything she can to reconnect with him from the “other side.”
Stay Tuned is a candid, irreverent exploration of grief, healing, and spiritual discovery, woven with wisdom from masters and well-known figures like don Miguel Ruiz, Caroline Myss, James Van Praagh, Deepak Chopra, and even Russell Crowe!
Jenniffer’s writing is clear, funny, and refreshingly relatable. This is a touching, often hilarious story of transformation—from skeptical journalist and grieving daughter to a woman embracing her spiritual awakening.
Jenniffer Weigel, the daughter of deceased sports reporter Tim Weigel, has a way of writing about tough things in life in a fun, breezy way that made this book a delight to read. Telling the story of her haphazardous career and her relationship with her father (both in and after life), this book follows Jenniffer's adventures (and misadventures) with numerous psychics and mediums as she seeks to communicate with her father in the great beyond.

A friend of mine sent me this book because of the recent passing of my Mother. She stated someone had given to her when her Mom passed and it helped her tremendously. Very easy read and can be read in one sitting. She is just like the rest of us in searching for answers during grief and loss. I enjoyed her humor and insight from various references. While the book may not mean the same for everyone, I do recommend!!
Loved this book! Her writing is very conversational. There is no agenda, she's just telling her story. And what an engaging story it is! If I'm being honest, I've always been looking for proof (outside of faith) that there is something after this world. I believe I've found that in this book. I'm looking forward to reading her other books.
Really fascinating stuff, and the author's casual, conversational style is appealing. It's like sitting down and having a conversation with an old friend. Still, I'm a skeptic, so it's hard to figure out what to believe, but the notion that our loved ones who have passed on are still around to guide us is very comforting. I will definitely read more...
