Viripotent: Marriageable, able to sire children

The Devil & The Heiress

Inessa has been raised to know that the only freedoms she will be granted come from a strong alliance. But the offer changes, and she won’t be trapped in an arranged loveless marriage. It will instead become her pathway to true freedom as she trades one life to be able to live her own.
The clause is simple: upon producing an heir she will be granted a divorce, but accepting a deal from the devil is never a good start, even if her grandfather, as Pakhan, signs beside her.

Three things made Vlad Vartanov, three things kept him alive, and three things are to be protected.

Marrying the Pakhan’s granddaughter will ensure the protection of the only three things that he has given his all to.

One goal has remained his motivation since he was 13 years old: get to the top of the Bratva — then destroy everyone.

But three syllables make him question everything. In⋅ness⋅sah

3 things made him, 3 kept him, 3 things are to be protected.
But 3 syllables threaten it all — In・ess ・sah

Part 1/2

3,5 🌪💥⚡️⭐️s

I managed to finish it!!!! 🥳

“It’s a fucked-up relationship of disrespectful respect that does not and will never make sense.” Inessa

This would have been an epic mafia read if there was a proper editing.

For such an intense and lengthy story, Russian words/phrases should not be translated into English at the end of the book, but bracketed on the same line.

… (on hold)

Interesting premise, very intriguing characters!
I liked Vlad!!!!
He was (up to 15%) an astoundingly morally grey character!!!

“I don’t have the patience for a virgin. You have until the engagement is announced to fix your situation.” Vlad

The writing style didn’t make my reading time easy.
My English was harshly challenged! I had to reread either sentences or paragraphs to comprehend what the author was trying to say.

Moreover, not only the names of the 3 Vartanov brothers started with V - Vlad, Valentin and Vitali - but their nicknames as well!!! 🤯
At some points, it was hard for me to specify which one of the brothers was speaking.

On hold until I get over my headache and be brave to continue reading it... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well... fuck.
This was a ride. And that cliff? Really? Now I'm gonna be on needles till next book...

Well, to start... the little snippets that we got of Vartanovs from Atlantic Courts series is nothing compare to this book. (Well, that's logical.)

Honestly, I love this book, that's nothing new... I said it 100 times already but I'm gonna repeat it again. I really love this authors writing and the way she brings characters to life. And characters in this book are *mwah* (and I mean ALL OF THEM). However, puting Vlad and Inessa in a spotlight, I just adore how their banter grows into tensions and those tensions grow into a relationship (if we can call it relationship yet😉). Most of all I love how author gave each of them mind of their own. While there are scenes where they "read each others mind" there is plenty more where they make thoughts about some situation on their own (whether it's right or wrong) - in all honesty I don't see that a lot in books. Also one more thing, both main characters, while they are strong they have flaws and fears.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down. This is type of story that will keep you on your tip toes till you don't come to the end of it and then you will want more. The plot will suck you in from the start and constant ups and downs in a story won't let you have a minute of peace.

If you like Dark Mafia Arranged Marriage Romance, with strong and sassy FMC, morally grey MMC who is actual teddy bear when you get to know him better. A lot of "touch her/him and bye", "my wife" and "who hurt you" moments, with a side of found family trope, secrets, plot twists, emotional damage and a bit of humor... then this is a book for you.

**Just to add, please check trigger warnings!!!

First time EVERR I DNF a book at 6%. And excuse me 3+ books following this one? Why?? For hwat???
Not being mean or anything but for the sake of honesty and respect for good authors who take this writing books as a serious occupation I am giving this book 1 star review, and I wish I could give it a half star.

First off How in the world are the 5 stars ppl understood what’s written??? The writing style is not a styling at all. Do they skim until the spice scene? bcz fr other than that I don’t know how they got through it.

Secondly, I feel like I was jumping from one dialogue to another no explanations in between e.g. the years split when did it happen ( like it’s been 5 years since the arrangement happened, I thought they got married!!) how in the world should I put the pieces together just guide me AUTHER, also the names are so confusing and lot of Vs are involved, I know there was a warning at first, but I DID NOT imagine it’d be this confusing, even the “MC” parents’ names they show up then exit without explanation TF IS THIS!!! I can’t hold on to the conversation they’re having.

Finally, disappointment this with the heavy triggers that took part off (supposedly) should’ve been WAY better.

If you’re a fan of dark, spicy mafia romance, then this book is a must-read! However, be sure to check the trigger warnings before diving in.

Inessa, known for her ice queen persona and bratty attitude, enters into an arranged marriage with a condition—she must bear an heir to earn her freedom. Vlad, a morally gray MMC, is determined to protect his family and ascend to the top of the Bratva, willing to crush anyone who stands in his way.

The chemistry and banter between these characters are unparalleled. Despite the dark nature of the story, I found myself laughing—an experience I’ve never had with a mafia novel. The depth of emotions evoked by this book, as the reasons behind the characters’ behaviors are revealed, is truly remarkable. The storytelling is so captivating that you’ll want to savor every moment, resisting the urge to rush through the pages.

Despite the dark and traumatic events at its core, both the main and secondary characters bring humor and wit to the story, adding layers of depth.

This book ends on a cliffhanger, and I’m eagerly awaiting the next installment. A.X. Cole’s storytelling is truly exceptional, making this series one to watch.

Calling all fans of dark, spicy mafia tales! If you're ready for a wild ride, this book is a total must-read. But don't forget to check those trigger warnings first 🖤

Meet Inessa, the queen of icy vibes and sass, diving headfirst into an arranged marriage deal with a twist: She's got to produce an heir to earn her ticket out. And then there's Vlad, our morally gray main man, dead set on ruling the Bratva, no matter who gets in his way. 🥵

Let's not forget the cast of characters—each one bringing their own flavor to the story and adding layers upon layers of intrigue.

But fair warning: this one ends with a cliffhanger that'll leave you hanging by a thread.

A.X. Cole's storytelling skills? Absolutely top-notch. ❤️‍🔥

Keep your eyes peeled for the next one 'cause this series? It's gonna be epic! 📚

Heavy is the head that wears a crown. But the saying forgets to mention the bloody path it takes to get there.

This is a mafia story that’s not for the faint hearted!

Viripotent has its unique take on the Bratva, with the usual tradition of an arranged marriage and power take over. Vlad Vartanov has had to fight for everything that he has, with a mysterious dark childhood and now leading his family to get what he wants. Only caring for his two younger brothers and very very close members, Vlad is not a man to be crossed…it will only end in bloodshed.

Only now to reach the top, there is a high classed bombshell and a feisty one at that standing in high heels in his way. Inessa who is the granddaughter of the pakhan…the very man that Vlad needs to take down.

He’s a wolf toying with me before devouring me. But I want, need, to be devoured whole.

These two characters are like fire & ice, knowing each other since they were young and still worlds apart. Inessa Mikhailovya may have been brought up as pampered princess, but now she’s ready to take the crown and be the queen. However, there’s a get out clause and for Inesse to really have what she wants, can she marry the great feared Vlad Vartanov and create the next heir?

It’s a very interesting storyline, I wouldn’t recommend it for newbie mafia readers as it’s a heavily influenced storyline with elements that you’re familiar with. A complying read the more you turn the pages as you start to discover more about each of the characters & the world that has been created. It becomes very emotional in areas, your heart aching and then jumping with the action that suddenly happens.

A great read & cliffhanger to keep you wanting more!

The only time she will bow, will be to me.

Wow I don't even know where to begin, that cliffhanger has me in all the feels right now. I don't want more, I NEED more. Like I need this series in my possession now!!

If you love strong badass bratty FMCs and morally grey MMCs who will do anything to protect those he cares about, look no further.

Inessa the ice queen and badass bratty FMC enters an enranged marriage with the only stipulations she must bear child to become free.
Vlad the devil and morally grey MMC who protects his family no matter the cost, his goal is to get to the top of the Bratva and destroy anyone who gets in the way.

A.X Cole did AMAZING!! I've never laughed at a Mafia romance like I did with this one. This book will pull you in from the beginning and as quick as you'll want to devour it, you'll want to read it slowly so you don't finish it.

If I could give more then 5 stars I would and I can't wait to read the rest of the series

This is a book about families in the Russian Mafia with a dark MMC and a strong FMC who are brought together in an arranged marriage.

Inessa must make a strong alliance to be free. She enters an arranged marriage where she must produce a child to be free. What she doesn’t expect is that she will fall for this broken protective man that is her husband.

Vlad must protect his family before and above anything. He comes from a difficult/horrific childhood. He over comes this by protecting what is “his.” He wants to get to the top of the Bratva and destroy the opposition.

The chemistry between the two main characters is very good! This read is 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ spicy! The book ends on a cliffhanger, and leaves you wanting more.

If you like DARK spicy mafia books… this one will be for you!

I'm putting it at hold around 27%!

I was enjoying the story, but the writing is just not clicking with me!
Choppy sentences, repeated scenes in both POV that add nothing... From one page to the other there's new information that don't add up, I keep turning back trying to confirm that I didn't skip anything. Also I got lost with all the name and nick names variants.
Basically this book would be great with a proper edit.

I'm keeping it in my e-reader and gonna try to pick up because I enjoyed the H, the banter and that the h wasn't a doormat (even if the time line was awkward)

This one was a bit of a weird one for me. I'm not sure if I loved it or hated it. I love all things Bratva and Russian that's why I picked this one up but there was a few times I considered not finishing it but I can't put my finger on why and i'm glad in the end that I did. I'm now going to end up wishing the year way to find out what happens next.

This book ends on a cliff-hanger and the next one isn't due until early 2025. So don't go reading it if your looking for a HEA and if all honesty if it goes with Vlad's plan we're not going to get it anyway.

The names get a bit confusing they all have there normal names but they also have nickname or shortened versions of there names so 2 end up with the same name so I wasn't a 100 % sure if it was his brother or nephew on the odd occasion the short version was used. Doesn't help that they all had names beginning with V.

The main story line is that Vlad arranges for his brother Valentin to marry Inessa who is the grand-daughter of the Pakhan of the Bratva. He needs the alliance for a revenge plan but after reading the entire thing and knowing what the plan is I'm still not sure on what the revenge is for. Anyway something happens and the plan is changed to Vlad marrying her instead.

Vlad and Inessa both have major hate issues when it comes to there parents. His seems to be a lot deeper than hers and I did spend a fair bit of the book trying to figure out if it was just abuse, SA or trafficking. I got to the part were I know it was one of the last 2 but i'm still not sure which.

He does come across as a bad guy but then you learn what his nightly routine is for his family and you can't help falling a little bit in love with him.

She come across as being the total princess but the more you get to know about her you can't help but love her too.

There is also a character that is mention and i'm sure she has something to do with his revenge plan but I keep swinging between her being his daughter and his sister but i'm leaning more towards daughter.

It is a bit dark especially when you get his flash back near the end of the book but it does help explain something but not everything.

It is a little heavy on SA of a minor and there is a good bit of violence in it so check your triggers before picking it up.

When can I get the second book?? I am anxious about this ending. I have so many questions that I need answers to. There is so much left unsaid, so much to feel, to take revenge for. OMG, I don’t know if I am even ready for the second book but I still need it. And I also don’t know if it’s a duet or more. I really need to research it and follow the author for updates.

It’s a dual POV book with Vlad and Inessa’s thoughts. They are so very opposite from each other and are really perfect characters for this Arranged marriage trope. The plot is tricky with lots of information missing but it got me perfectly curious to search for the answers. I am impressed with the characters and side characters.

Some moments are so precious in the book that they need to be cherished, and some I don’t even want to remember. Do read triggers first, it’s not that difficult but still, it’s best to know them. I love Inessa a lot, the way she stands up for herself and her personality is powerful.

Whereas Vlad is a very mysterious one even after reading one whole book. I need more stories about him to figure him out other than that he is very protective of his family. That trait is one good thing in him and the plans he had in his mind are too dangerous to comprehend.

The story started interestingly but everything went on a very confusing note for a long time to get a grasp of the characters like, who is who and how they are related to each other, what is in the past there, and how when and where the story is moving but the good point was that even in that state I wanted to read the next page, I wanted to know the next step. And now I’ll be waiting for book 2.

It’s a 3.75⭐️ for me.

Thank you so much to the author and Bound by Mischief for sharing an ARC of this book with me!!

“You want to be fucked, to lay back and feel pleasure selfishly without putting in any work. You’re not dominant but a true fucking princess, meelaya.”

“You will be my wife, and I won’t allow you to weaken my name. The next time they attempt to threaten you, remember that.”

Readers of dark romance, if you’re reading for a book that will trigger you from the beginning until the very end. If you’re reading for a book that instead of getting lighter, will get darker the more you read. For a list of trigger warnings you should definitely check before getting into it, and some side characters that are absolutely twisted and wretched and wrong in so many ways, then this is the book for you. A very very very dark mafia romance with forced marriage, my wife trope, enemies to lovers, and so many other dark tropes I don’t think I can list. I’m more than a little bit surprised I got to the end of it. It seems that the plot hooked me. Because yes, in case you were wondering, this book does have an actual plot that goes beyond the relationship between the main characters Inessa and Vlad. I feel like I can say that the plot is as dark as the romance itself. Even the sweet moments (because there were some sweet moments even if not conventional) made me question whether they were truly sweet or it was just a figment of my imagination.
Overall, both main characters are morally grey and they are both twisted and traumatised and evil, and somehow they found one another in all the mess they were living. But in the end, the my wife trope gets me every single time.

“Heaven may be above us, as something to strive for. But hell is linear, it’s all around us. We don’t fight out of it, we fight through it, meely moy.”

“He’s a wolf toying with me before devouring me. But I want, need, to be devoured whole.”

Inessa grew up understanding that her freedom relied on alliances. When offered an arranged loveless marriage, she saw an opportunity for true freedom: bearing an heir would grant her a divorce. But striking a deal with her grandfather, the Pakhan, felt risky.

For Vlad Vartanov, three things were everything: his life, his anchors, and what he protected. Marrying the Pakhan’s granddaughter promised to safeguard these. Since he was thirteen, he aimed to rise to the top of the Bratva and dismantle it. Yet, three syllables made him question everything: In-ness-sah.

This book is a complex mafia romance filled with sacrifice, love, and ambition in the world of the Bratva. Vlad is a deeply complicated character, but once you understand him, it's impossible not to love him. Despite facing many challenges, he takes care of his younger brothers and nephew when no one else does. The marriage between Inessah and Vlad starts as enemies but develops into a beautiful love story. I especially enjoyed the moments between Inessah and Vlad's nephew, who is adorable. Overall, this book is a great read for fans of arranged marriage mafia romances. However, be aware that it contains some disturbing content, so check the trigger warnings before diving in. The cliffhanger ending has left me eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

A dark, enemies to lovers' romance with Viripotent featuring the Russian bratva for my first read from A.X. Cole as the heroine Inessa finds herself married off to Vlad Vartanov. Her only intention in agreeing to the union was as a means to end of escaping a life she hated. The cost would be to bear a child for the man who intended to rule the Bratva.

I’m not sure about this book. I loved the characters and the romance element. The morally grey Vlad who I felt was manipulating the proceedings to advance his own agenda for vengeance and who had suffered an horrific childhood. His main intention was to protect his family no matter the cost and Inessa, the Pakhan’s granddaughter who wanted her freedom and whose only worth was her womb. The chemistry between them was electric but I’m just not sure about the overall story. Usually I love books like this and have no trouble powering through but with Viripotent I found it hard to get into it and so I’m giving it 3.5 stars.bIt does end on a cliff hanger, and will I read the next book? Probably to settle my curiosity.

Brilliant, dark mafia at its best. I loved every part of this delicious arranged marriage mafia trope. Sassy female lead, strong demanding male they both have issues with the way they have lived in the mafia life. Crazy plots, violence and lots of twists. It kept me hooked, i couldnt put it down! I know i am going to love this author and will be eagerly waiting the next book as the cliffhanger on this one was epic!

This a dark Russian Mafia Romance.
Vlad and Inessa. Two people emotionally stunted from abuse and the life they were raised in.
They enter into an arranged marriage both were their own end goal. Inessa-to be free after giving Vlad a child.
Vlad-revenge.
Vlad is a Possessive mmc and Inessa is a strong fmc.
This book is very well written but read your triggers because it does have dark themes.

Inessa never expects to fall for Vlad but can't help it the longer she's married to him. Vlad has one goal in this marriage and love isn't it but the more he's around her the harder it is not to develop feelings for her.

If you like mafia romances with violence and delicious spicy times, you will love this book.
It ends on a cliffhanger that leaves you reeling and dying for the next book!!!

10 out of 10 would recommend.

,, She sinks into me and leans back looking over her shoulder. Fuck me,
she’s beautiful when she shuts up. Ruining her beauty with her mouth
Inessa speaks slowly and infuses false joy into the words to be a fucking
brat.
“You are my cutie, my little sweetie pie.”
The over-exaggerated pout has my fingers tightening around her neck,
but my palm doesn’t press into her windpipe as she coos, “Kto maya
lapooshychka?”
She looks proud of herself. It would be cute if she wasn’t driving me
insane.
She goes back to anger hearing my plan as I muse out loud, “I’m buying
you a ball gag.”
Twisting a hand behind her back, she cups my dick and moves further
down until she’s cradling my balls and tries to be a vixen.”

Amazing book! 📚♥️

I don't remember when a dark and mafia book made me laugh like this and which I deliberately read as slowly as possible because I felt bad about finishing it. This is the craziest couple ever, they are both fucked in the head and I have to say I enjoyed it. Honestly, the story is predictable, but this story is completely different.

Both the main and secondary characters of the book are witty and funny even though the events are very serious and include child trafficking and abuse.

---

,, Someone has to pay
for my sins, and I don’t look back as I leave the house. The door doesn’t
click, and the sound of heels follow me. This fucking woman is going to
drive me crazy; she’s given her stupid fucking quip hitting the only
weakness I have and now she wants to follow me.
Ignoring Inessa’s mouth, and presence, she becomes inescapable getting
in the passenger seat before I can throw her out.
“I told you not to abandon me.”
She has a death wish or enjoys being in danger constantly fucking
running towards me. Buckling herself in like we’re going shopping, she
looks at me like I’m an idiot and bugs her eyes out.
“Drive then.”
Why the fuck couldn’t she have had a sister? Or even a brother, I’d fake
being gay over dealing with Inessa. I’d have chosen Maximoff’s favorite
fucking dog as a bride if I was given the option and it would get me where I
need. It would be quieter hearing that bark than her constant chatter.”

---
✍️
I can't wait to read the next sequel and if I could, I would give this book more than five stars.

--

“Firstly, that’s sweet and you could have just told me. Secondly, don’t
ever tell me to shut the fuck up. Third, ring your bank and tell them you
acted like a dickhead, so there’s going to be extra spending until I forget.”
This fucking woman. I’m not a saint but there’s no planet where I
deserve this form of punishment. Her mouth and her mind are a wicked
combination, add her fucking stubbornness into it and she’s driving me
crazy. We might not even make it to the wedding if she continues because
every day I fight the urge to rip her tongue out or kill her.”

I am too shook by the cliffhanger I was left on with this book to have the words for a review.

Wow wow wow. This book was AMAZING. Two emotionally stunted and irreparably damaged people are put together in an arranged marriage and somehow through it all find themselves healing little parts of their souls together.

The way AX Cole writes will have you devouring this story as fast as you can. The story pulls you in from the first paragraph and offers you just enough information in the form of Easter Eggs as you go along to keep you hooked. You find yourself needing to know every single detail about these humans lives’ and how they became who they are. The writing is engaging, the dialogue is full of witty banter and I need more immediately.

Do yourself a favour and read this book, but do head the TW as it is very spicy and very dark. I know I’ll be reading this book over and over again.

Wow, I really liked this book and read it in 10hrs. I liked the characters, Vlad is a complexed person who wants love but won't accept it because of his past. Then you have Inessa who holds everything in because she doesn't think it will be accepted by Vlad. They have great chemistry and are good for each other. I really want to know more about Vlad past because something happened and it is still messing with him. I knew this wouldn't end great and I need the next book asap. All in all this was a great read.

This book is hardcore! Violence, lots of swearing, sex and a very good plot, centering around the Bratvia.

Vlad and Inessa, the Devil and the ice Queen come together in a marriage of convenience. Well woven Flashbacks reveal a twisted and horrible early life explaining our main character’s personality and actions.

Took me awhile to get used to the names of some of the secondary characters as the names all begin with V and they also have similar nicknames. I liked that the book was a bit longer than usual around 450 pages, it allowed time for character & story development.

This book is left on a cliffhanger and

I eagerly await the 2nd one.

This book I really enjoyed reading because of it being a dark romance / Mafia it was my kind of cup of tea. And it was a really good read with a strong plot which kept me on my toes while reading this book.

I liked the characters within the book and how they developed throughout the story. Everything about this book the author did not disappoint and I would recommend this to anyone who is interested mafia dark romances.

The author jumps straight into things and doesn’t give 70 pages of backstory to learn about the characters which I appreciated. Instead she incorporated their pasts throughout the book and it kept me hooked throughout the whole story. Inessa is a tough FMC who can stand up for herself, but you also see her fear as she discovers what life with Vlad will really be like as well as the fact she’s developing feelings for him she never thought she’d have, so it makes her relatable because we love a morally grey man but let’s face it sometimes what they do can be a little unhinged. Vlad is my kind of book man. Is he the cuddliest person? No, but he is protective and possessive and who doesn’t love that? This was a great start to this series and with that cliffhanger I can’t wait to see what’s in store!

The author has written well developed main and side characters and the prose is descriptive without being too much. The plot is good, somewhat predictable, yet enjoyable. There is spice simmering throughout. Overall, this was a great book. The characters are amazing, well developed, and deep. I truly felt a connection with each of them which makes the book that much more enjoyable. I can’t recommend this book enough! I can't wait for the next book!!
