He's her mean boss, and they don't know their first meeting is going to change EVERYTHING.
Fire Chief Noah Baker knows he rules his fire department with an iron fist. His subordinates quake in their boots under his piercing silent glare. It's necessary because it's up to him to make sure the city doesn't burn down.
He doesn't need a distraction like getting stuck in a supply closet with the most delicious and kissable woman he's ever met... who happens to be one of his rookie lady firefighters.
Fall for Fire Chief Noah Baker and firefighter Erin Hudgens in this fun, steamy prequel to their first book Smolder. You should only read if you wish Grey's Anatomy and Chicago Fire had an unyielding gorgeous blonde fire chief who give your body unspeakable pleasure between the sheets - bonus because this mean grumpy boss series is written by a real ER doctor.

When not saving lives in the ER, Carina can be found repairing injured stuffed animals of her six children, and hanging out with her sexy lawyer-blackbelt husband.
It's not that I didn't like this novella, but something about it felt off, and it didn't satisfy the way I hoped it would. There's so much vague information that is given in an attempt to build suspense, but it ends up reading like chunks of the main novel have been inserted into the novella, leaving me with a lot of drama and very little context. It reads more like ARC snippets than a prequel story, especially with the formatting jumping from points in time, dream to reality, and POV shifts without any clear direction. I'll be honest, I thought the idea behind was so solid, and I love my procedural shows in real life so why wouldn't I love books styled the same way? However, execution is key and where it stands right now, this book did not reach the mark it aimed for.
Off to a hot start A short story with some extra heat about the love affair that officially starts with the book Smolder. A good way to find out if the books by ms Alyce are to your liking. She writes about strong man and women, you’ll find lovable characters (most of them), witty banter, steamy scenes and it will give you lots of enjoyable reading hours. Only 4* because it’s so short.
I knew this was a prequel but it was much too short. I can not wait to dive into the real deal and get to know these characters and watch their relationship bloom.
