Once upon a time... On the faraway world of Eternia, twins were born to the King and Queen. But soon after their birth, the little brother and sister were separated by fate. The boy, Prince Adam, grew up on the planet Eternia. There, he learned the secrets of Castle Grayskull and that he had a great destiny. His sister, Princess Adora, was kidnapped as a baby by the wicked Hordak. She was raised by him on the planet Etheria, a world that lived in misery under the rule of Hordak and his Horde. Like Prince Adam, Princess Adora was given a magical weapon. Hers was a sword and with it she was transformed into She-Ra. Adora stayed on Etheria to work on the side of the Rebellion to return freedom to the land. It was for the day when goodness would reign again over Etheria that She-Ra pledged her power.
Everything but Happiness Plot: Frosta invites Adora, Glimmer, and Queen Angelica to visit her in the Kingdom of Snow where she’s concocted a special ice rink for them that keeps them warm as they skate. Frosta has a magic power that lets her control the cold-so even tho its summer there the ice doesn’t melt on the rink-. But then something goes wrong. Kowl falls in the ice when it starts to melt. It seems like Frosta has lost control of her powers. Adora transforms into Shera but the ice freezes back up again just that quick. What’s really going on? She turns back into Adora (uh that was a waste of transformation for her to turn to Shera) Adora and Gimmer set off to find Castaspella to determine if magic is at play for the loss of Frosta’s powers. Following a dear leads, them to an area that feels off, and shortly after they’re surrounded by soldiers. The soldiers take them to Endor’s castle. Endor introduces them to his daughter and gives them “the champagne life” treatment (complete with dresses and jewels). But then he won’t let them leave (ladies if he seems too good to be true, he usually is). Glimmer and Adora bond with Astral but they hit a nerve when she tells them how beautiful they are they tell her she’ll be beautiful when she grows up which makes her run off crying and saying she’ll never grow up. To that, I say Astral growing up isn’t all that-. She won’t tell them why so they decide to try to escape the Castle by pretending that they are guards. By they’re no match for Endor’s magic. They find out that Endor’s wife is sick and to keep her from dying he’s cast a spell that freezes all of them in time. Shera’s powers heal her and bring her back to life. Shera uses her sword to transport them to the land of Legends and free them from the time spell. Glimmer fantasizes about her time at the Castle but is brought back down to reality when Angelica tells her to clean her room as she wishes she had some of Endor’s magic
My Thoughts: Something about the end of this book confuses me and I don’t think it’s well explained. Endor says because of the spell that they’re over a thousand years old and if the spell was ever broken, they’d die. Yet Shera uses her magic to send them to the Land of Ligands? That doesn’t make a lick of sense. Shera’s magic broke the spell but it didn’t make Endor and his family any younger. They’re still all gonna die if they’re over a thousand years old. Did an editor read this before they published it? I’m sure it made sense in their head but when you read it it's like what. And I read it a couple of times. NOPE! So it kind of threw my opinion of this one off because of the non-sense ending. And yes I do realize this is fictional but even fictional books need to be well explained.
Rating: 5 I just can’t give it any higher than that. It did teach a lesson that if a man showers you with gifts to be wary because he might not be all that he seems. Endor didn’t really impress me because holding Glimmer and Shera hostage in his castle wasn’t necessary. Nor were the guards being sent to force them to come to the castle. Then if Endor was the greatest magician in Endor why in the world did he need Frosta’s power? Apparently, he wasn’t.
This story wasn’t as good as the others and as I said in another review of this style of books they talk about Adora but she looks just like She-Ra without the mask. The story was quite boring too, even for kids. There’s not much of a moral to this story as well; the title suggests otherwise. It’s a shallow story.
