The New Year started with a bang.Literally.

Midnight came,

and now,

life as we know it will never be the same.

The Sanctum are out to harm us.

To harm me.

Nobody is safe.

I’d known that a scholarship to Hawthorn Academy would change my life.

Guess I’d just never realised how much I could lose.

What a conclusion to a fantastic series! Glad I jumped on the Hawthorn train. It did not disappoint.
This book starts where book 2 left off. Still so many twists and turns, secrets to uncover and feelings that are evolving.

Skylar still has no idea who to trust. Everyone keeps saying the "right" things, but her heart doesn't let her give in. She has grown so much in this series. Her character growth was off the charts. It was great to read! Even though she isn't sure if she should trust them, her friends stick close just the same.

I'll miss this gang of friends, but I'm happy with the outcome of the series. Some moments shocked the hell out of me, some moments made my heart flutter and some moments made me hold my tears in. Wow, just WOW!!

I've completely fallen for the world of Hawthorne Academy and all its intensity, secrets, insanely epic twists and wonderful characters; Disturbed being no different. I immediately got back hooked into this wild ride and loved every single second of it!

I love Sky so much and adore her endless strength to keep going no matter what's thrown at her, and oh boy is it A LOT, even if it has been her life on the line. Her character development from the first book to who she is now is so amazing. She's still the sweetest with a heart of gold but also has become this badass who doesn't let anyone push her around. And I adore the boys so much too, their development being so good as well.

The mystery, the suspense and the twist coming at me with a bang had me so shook. I didn't see any of it coming and found myself gasping from the reveals. Even at the end I was still trying to wrap my head around it all. This definitely surprised me in so many ways, I even felt bad for certain characters who I shall not name that I didn't think I would ever feel bad for. Damn this is truly a whirlwind!

I'm not gonna say too much but I absolutely adore the slow burn romance between Sky and her love interest. Oh boy is it a rollercoaster with those two as well, and it's just spectacular! I was so invested in it. And wow this couldn't have been more of an epic conclusion to whole journey.

"I still couldn't believe that we were here, in this position, and that I could call her mine. It did something to me. To the caveman that inside my psyche."

*I received this ARC from the author but the thoughts are completely my own.*

Wow!!!

This finale definitely tied everything up. I cannot believe the turns it took throughout the series and the way it all ended! Sky's progress through the series is insane and she definitely comes into her own, becoming one bad arse individual. I really fell in love with her at the end, from the start of the series she's a completely different person.

All the answers we needed in book two got tied up nicely in Disturbed and still threw me sideways! This is a great bully romance and I'll miss reading more about all these characters I've fallen in love with. The slow burn had a lot to do with it because bloody hell the intensity and chemistry was off the charts!!!!

WHAT AN ENDING! This series has been a wild ride from the beginning. So many secrets and lies floating around, sometimes it's hard to tell what is true and what isn't, which definitely makes it harder on Skylar to determine who to truth.

Since finishing book two, and the explosive, mind-blowing reveal, I have been trying to work out in my head, how this was going to work. So many things are brought to light during Disturbed.

Skylar is the scholarship student, that was brought to Hawthorne for a reason. She has grown so much from the beginning and has learned to stand up for herself and take her life into her own hands. She is no longer the girl we met in book one, but a much stronger and fiercer version.

The build up in this book is amazing. When The Sanctum was revealed, I WAS SHOOK! I was not expecting that and I was not expecting that ending. I teared up some, because it was exactly what Skyler and the other person needed, even if it did break my heart a little bit.

Katie did such an amazing job with this series, and even though Sky's story is over, I cannot wait to read Dispose, the alternate POV (can't say too much because spoilers!)

Skylar and The Sect Save the World

****Spoilers and in this Review****

This is the book where the shy girl with the stutter SAVES THE WORLD.

Or something like that.

For those of you needing a catch up, Skylar, Oliver, Leo, Clover, and Griff are desperately trying to find out about the secret organisation that their parents belong to known as “ The Sanctum”

While fellow members of “ The Set” continue to die, Sky’s life appears to still be under threat.
Not to mention the introduction of Orlando, Oliver’s identical (evil) twin brother.

Orlando, is deliciously sinister. ( best character in the Series IMO)
He is clever and cunning, as he pursues Skylar for himself, for he wants what his brother has always had. The Hir Girlfriend.

So.

As the Scooby Gang of five try to unravel past crimes, of their parents, and get to the bottom of what the “The Sanctum” are up to.

Skylar fight off the advances of Orlando, (halfheartedly) while trying to hold together her and Oliver’s relationship.
Then there is her poor friend Clover, who had an unfortunate meeting with a bullet towards the end of the previous book, and spend the vast majority of this book in a coma!
( don’t fret too much. She makes a rather miraculous recovery)
Only to break poor Griff’s heart so she can continue to berate Leo ( her not so secret crush) at every opportunity.

Only for it all to come down to the big (literal) shoot out at the end of school Gala Masquerade Ball.

Oh come on…

This book was ridiculous.

Sky really backed herself at being able to bring down the big bad “The Sanctum”
with the help of the guys and ( eventually) Clover.
It was all secret meetings, and trying to sway Orlando over to their side which all came to nada.
There were several elements of this book that had me going W.T.F!
Like Sky’s willingness to be ALONE with Orlando.
The boys she believed tried to KILL HER, drug her AND! Did stab her.
But Gosh! He was just sooo attractive. He had the same face as her boyfriend.
All Blue eyes, killer jawline, and soft lips.

How starved for attention was this this girl at that point, she is willing to put herself in harms way, and be alone with this guy.

28% in,..and I’d had it up here with Skylar and Ollie’s lovey dovey talk.

So much so, that I found myself racing through those bits waiting for Orlando to show back up.
Then the way Sky would relentlessly wanted to find out everything that was going on, to the point of acting petulant was irritating.

Yeah.

I’d had enough of these two, what with the constant “what’s up Bub”..huh!
And, the relentless pizza and movie night snuggle sessions so the author could insert long monologues about her favourite films… Spare Me.

Then we had the scene in the cafeteria, where Orlando was flaunting his new found friends group with “The Set” upsetting Oliver.
And we get this inner monologue from Sky…

“Didn’t want him to fixate and fester on shit he couldn’t control.”

Oh!
Like Sky did throughout book one and two???

There was only so much of the guys fawning over Sky that I could put up with..

’Cause you’re pretty fucking great, Little One. And I’m not so sure he appreciates you the way he should.’- says Orlando to Sky..

Geez! no wonder this girl thought she could twist this guy around her finger.
They were all love sick for her, and she for them.

However, it was only the boy that smelled of tobacco and vanilla scent that could win her heart…Ugh!

There was also some parts of the story where, shocking things happened to characters and, Sky was strangely able to move on quite quickly.
Which was rather bizarre
.
The deaths of the Set members.
How quickly she forgave Clo, for breaking her cousin Griff’s heart, because, you know, she always felt it should have been Leo and Clo,

So, after ALLL the drama unfolds at the end we get, Not one, but TWO Epilogues
Which quite frankly, I could have done without.
Same old BS HEA s****.
Especially the bonus one where we go more gushy moments between Oliver and Sky
(who recovered quite well from, you know KILLING SOMEONE)

With priceless lines like this -

‘And have I told you I love you?’
‘I love you too’
Just when you think things couldn’t get any more corny or sickenly lovey the author doesn’t let us down with the predictable ending we ALWAYS saw coming.

The first two books in this series were not good, but I’ll hand it to it that I still kept reading, if only to find out where everything was going. Well, the ride wasn’t worth it.

Character actions and thoughts didn’t make sense, the plot kept going in circles, the dialogue was flat and had lots of pointless conversations (there were so many scenes where people talked around an issue without really addressing it and then were like, “we’ll talk more about this later” for no reason other than the plot spinning its wheels). The hero was a wimp, the heroine was pathetic with no personality and no backbone — she literally waved it off as a forgiveable non- issue that a guy stabbed her! — the plot had nothing fresh about it with generic boarding school and secret society tropes, and the writing was more amateur than stuff I’ve seen on Wattpad. It kept randomly jumping to scenes in italicized flashbacks even when they didn’t happen very long ago in the story and should have just been shown in-scene. There was no reason to show them as flashbacks.

I feel a bit bad being harsh on a new author but at the same time, reviews are for readers. And if I can save someone else from wasting their time with this, it’s bad enough that I feel compelled to. It’s not totally hopeless in the sense that I would read this author again if she improves, since the bones of an interesting story are sort of there

Hawthorne academy has been a RIDE. From the first two books where you are like mentally asking ‘what the fuck’ this final book is the exact same. So many questions crop up but so many get answered by the end!

Book two ended on a bomb of a cliffhanger and book two threw you back into the rubble of the chaos.. with new pieces on the board coming to light you’re in for a Rocky road.

I loved this book, it was the right amount of drama and fuckery that had me gasping for more. I loved the development in the drama and the ever growing drama filled hole. But that ending, I was not expecting the way that wrapped up, IT ALL MAKES SENSE 🤯🤯

Katie has done FAB with this series and really dragged me through the ringer with this series and I loved it!🖤

..PS my heart is so happy with that extended epilogue❤️🥺

This was an amazing ending for an amazing story. I really liked to see how everyone matured since the first book, less secrets were kept and they tried to be more open with each other. Also, I enjoyed Orlando more than I thought I would. His POV made him much more likeable. I miss Clo during the first half of the book, Sky needed a female figure to share thing even though they argued most of the time. And that ending was not something I saw coming. What the hell. Mindblown. It broke my heart a little but it had to happen that way.

Good read

I found the storyline very gripping in fact read all three books within two days totally hooked. Unpredictable to which is a bonus as I am often able to guess. My only dislike was the fact the sky never mentioned or went over the 'no' fingering with Ollie. I felt more needed talking over especially with no being no and felt it was a little brushed past. Perhaps this is just because I am a firm believer however this is just my opinion.. other than that one moment I loved the book.

WOWWW. Honestly best series I’ve read in a while, had me crying , laughing, cringed out but it’s WORTH it . Took me 2 days to read all 3 books.
This was different to anything I’ve read.. it’s not predictable yknow… lots of twist. turns .
If your lookin for a great read THIS.
It takes me a lot to be interested in a series but I was HOOKED.
I read this series over a weekend and I didn’t leave my room unless necessary, and when I did this was all I was thinking about out.

Ugh…the second book gave me some hope after the first, but that ending was absolute shit. So Winnie killed all the bad guys then outed herself after for????? There’s no gain here…that makes no sense!!!! And then of course Orlando’s body “disappears”, so he’s alive and “out there” somewhere. 🥴🙄🫣 No….just no. What a disappointment.

A story that will have you saying just one more chapter!!

This series will not disappoint! You will fall in love with all the characters and you will hate them at the sane time! I cannot tell you how many times the plot twists and will have you saying what? No!!!! I could not put it down!

pretty good

I did enjoy the ending of this series but I felt that it didn’t need to be as long as it was. I did like the differ t points of view in this book. But I really didn’t like the use of the f word so much.

I liked how this progressed to the ending. I would have liked a bit more oomph with the ending based on all the twists and turns and deception.

I did not like the ending at all! Orlando deserved better. Seems like it all got wrapped up in a hurry.

What a finale!!

The first two books have so many secrets and unanswered questions and I can confidently tell you.. this book is the EXACT same haha! HOWEVER we get all those questions answered and the outcome doesn’t disappoint.

This whole finale to Sky’s time at Hawthorne Academy was a whirlwind. We are thrown a massive bombshell at the end of book two that you spend so much time getting your head around everything whilst reading Disturbed (in a good way!).

I won’t name names as not to spoil anything because you honestly need to go in so blind to this series but I got very emotionally attached to these characters.. without even realising. It wasn’t until the end when tears were falling from my eyes.. yup I actually cried.. that I realised I’d actually gone on this journey with Sky and the boys too.

The storyline is mental. It’s a slow fucking burn but it’s EXPLOSIVE when you get to it all. I devoured it in a day and I still don’t think a book series has ever ruined my trust like this. I still think about when I read the first book and how it impacted me to a few weeks ago and reading the last one and how it still impacts me but in a whole different way.

I am devastated to say goodbye to Hawthorne.. but at least it’s not entirely a goodbye 😈

I have loved this series so far and the characters in it. The twist that this series had definitely caught me off guard but I was really pleased with it. It made a lot of things throughout the series make a bit more sense. I am ready to read Ollie's point of view.

Great job!
