Thanks for Waiting

Rate this book
Carrie Monroe has played several leading roles throughout her life, but she is about to take on her greatest role yet - middle school drama teacher. As Carrie embarks on this new role of teaching mischievous middle schoolers and producing the fall musical, she is also juggling the role of caregiver for her sick father. It’s a lot to take on, but Carrie is the queen of organization and planning. Everything was going to plan.

College check. Dream check. Teaching at the same school as her ex-boyfriend…not a part of the plan.

It has been three years since Carrie reluctantly left Evan Stanton behind during college. Evan is just as handsome and dreamy as ever, and Carrie is just as in love. Evan is cold and standoffish whenever Carrie walks in the room. This fuels her pride and regret, and Carrie vows to avoid Evan at every opportunity.

What happens when the two are forced to work together? Will seeing each other every day bring them back together, or bring back the memories of too many regrets?

Thanks for Waiting was a great book that started off a little slow but did pick up steam. I loved how the college sweethearts had to find their way through obstacles such as seeing each other for the first time after 2 years since their breakup, working together and a current significant other, one of them dating (one date), and the struggle of dealing with a sick parent. If you have lost a loved one to cancer, be prepared. I also loved Carrie’s friend Roxy who was a pillar in this book with her fun nicknames and the ability to help Carrie through it all. This book, I feel, is more geared towards the children older teenager or someone who is just getting in to romance. I would read it again and I hope Roxy does get a book.

An Uplifting Romance with Great Characters

I enjoyed how realistic this book was for a romance. It was sweet, thoughtful, and had great character development. I felt excited, embarrassed, sad, and many other emotions for the main character as I followed along with her on her journey for a second chance at love.

This book was so darn cute! I didn’t expect to love this book as much as I did but man it had me wanting more everytime I had to stop reading. It was full of fun witty side characters and an amazing main character that has the most entertaining inner monologue. Not to mention how dreamy the love interest is!!!!! Everything about this book was so realistic and easy to enjoy. It had me literally laughing out loud, kicking my feet, shedding a few tears here and there and giggling like a little child while blushing my cheeks off. If you’re looking for a sweet little romance, this is perfect!
