Short and sweet

Kindle Read - 111 Pages
Novella
Friends to Lovers
Pen Pals
Military, injury, ptsd rep

This books is relatively short and gets to the point. It's fast paced enough to keep you hooked and not get bored. It's a cute story of two people from the same town who become one pals and find they have a lot in common.
He gets injured while deployed and tries to push Calls away so she doesn't get stuck with an I hired get but she moved him in with her to help him recover. In return when Calls is being blackmailed by her professor and pushed him away to spare him the embarassment, he handles the situation with the help of friends and gets him sacked.
The pair of course get their HEA.

This novella was suck a quick wholesome read. I loved that the whole book moved at a great pace. Sometimes reading a novella its so quick that the pace is too fast but this one was perfect and believable it wasnt just throwing everything at you all at once and I appreciate that. I loved that character development and the emotional bonds. I loved the mental health and disability representation.

What an Emotional Read!

I don’t know what I thought I would read when I chose this book but it drew me in. This book is one of the most powerfully emotionally hitting book I have ever read. This author is truly talented! I finished reading this a while ago and needed to sit on my review because I had such a book hangover from this. Calla and Weston meet through a program that sets people in the military up with a pen pal. From there it was so moving to watch their relationship grow and blossom. I loved every word in this book and can’t wait to read more from this author!

I'm a sucker for military love stories. Being a military girlfriend, fiance, or wife is not easy (I know from experience). Unfortunately, there are times they go dark, and you don't hear from them for a while. Trust me, it sucks. This story hits on so many different things that are experienced every day. The building of relationships is fantastic. I love Calla, especially the fact that she didn't allow Weston to push her away. I honestly wanted more. Such a quick & easy read.

Write me a Letter

I’ve been on military kick here lately and this was an amazing story. Having written so many letters to send overseas, this book has my heart.

Calla and Weston start a writing as pen pals and eventually fall for each other. This is a novella but I loved it so much!!!

Sweet Pen Pals

Calla decided to join a group of pen pals and she got Weston. She sent him a letter and heard nothing for months. Then, one day, he responds, and they become fast friends, finding out how much they have in common. Until tragedy strikes and he pulls away. What is a girl to do?? This was a super sweet tale worth every second of the read.

Yeah, this novella wasn’t great for me. It was one that I downloaded from stuff your kindle day, and it started out promising but lost me along the way. The writing was unnecessarily repetitive and overly descriptive, it drove me nuts.

And what really took me out of it was the out of the blue plot line at the end when all of a sudden Calla is weirded out by her professor who turns out to have the same last name as her, and her ex emails intimate photos to him accidentally and then the professor tries to blackmail her, like what is going on here?! It was way too unbelievable and just felt way too contrived just to make the story dramatic. It was disappointing because I did actually like the main characters.

Romance unfolds beautifully

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this Novella. I was intrigued by where it may lead to with the letters and responses and if I would find that there was enough information and action in between the letter writing - but it worked really well.
When Calla Dentin agrees to write a letter to a deployed soldier - Weston Bryant - she never dreamed they'd strike up a friendship but they do and become really close. I loved how each letter revealed more about them as a person - and how the letters made each other feel. I found myself looking forward to the replies too.
Letters turn into video calls and the relationship develops further, but one day Weston is injured and
Life changes.
Will they find each other once more? Will the romance continue?
Check it out to find out - it’s worth it.
A really entertaining and emotional short story.

Pen pals!

This was such a cute yet hopeful romantic story involving a man in the army and his pen pal. The story has alot of good getting to know you banter between the Main Characters even if distance is involved.

This is one of my favourite reads so far this year. I loved the relationship between Calla and Weston. They start out as pen pals just writing back and forth with each other to pass the time. This develops into a strong friendship. However, Weston gets injured in the line of duty and decides it would be better if Calla moved on with her life and wasn't dragged down by having a friend like him. Calla won't let that happen and makes him smarten up.

I enjoyed reading how their relationship goes from pen pals to friends to something more. They were ultra cute together. Neither knowing how the other felt and neither wanting to ruin the great friendship they had developed. But one day Calla needs some help and after some coaxing, Weston helps her during her time of need. She has been there for him, so he knows he needs to be there for her.

This was a shorter read as it was a novella, but in my experience so far, A.D. Craig writes such amazing stories. She is definitely an author to follow.

Calla and Weston meet in an unconventional way when they become Pen Pals. Calla is a college student living in the same area that Weston is from and they form a bond and friendship writing to each other while he is serving in the military. They grow closer and develop feelings, but when tragedy strikes Weston, he feels the best thing to do is to set Calla free and push her away.
Calla finds out the truth and doesn't let Weston get away with it and moving him into her place to recover. They grow closer while dealing with real life issues and trauma they both have gone through.
It is a lovely, sweet romance that deals with deployment and repercussions that can sometimes happen when soldiers return home. Respectfully told and it is a quick read that was such a pleasure to read. The flow of the plot was perfectly paced and I fell in love with both MC. I look forward to more books in this series.

Loved this story. Building a relationship is a challenging task. Being apart makes it even harder. This couple did a marvellous job of growing in love given where they started from.
Theirs was not an easy task as there was interference from the ex and the professor. But an even greater issue was the injury to Weston which Calle dealt with so well. I am sure that anyone reading the book will find some aspect of this relationship to identify with.
While the book is short, 112 pages, the story is deep. There is much that the couple overcome to become ready to marry. They study each other, respect each other and trust each other with a true love growing all the while. Love does take time to develop and they gave it all the time necessary.

Oh my gosh I loved this military romance and the story line really stood out to me as you don't get many that include writing letters to a deployed soldier. I loved how the book developed and she could sense the emotional development. I love how the author includes mental health and disability. I have never heard of A. D Craig and wow what a phenomenal read from beginning to end.

Epistolary stories are a weakness of mine and I love the eventual reunion or meeting because it’s always so emotional. This was no exception and hit every one of my happy points. Calla is a college student and starts writing to a deployed soldier, Weston, from the town where she goes to school. The letters gave the short story a way for us to know these characters quickly so we don’t feel like we’re missing any details about them and how they get to know each other and fall in love. There’s just enough drama to keep it from being too over the top fluff, but still realistic. I loved every second of this story.

I wish there was more

This story has a lot of potential, but leaves so many gaps. The pacing begins ok but then starts to feel very rushed, leaving long gaps that could have developed characters and plot more. The timeline and pacing are a bit unrealistic... 2 years has a handful of letters and emails, then a tragedy, then an unrealistically short hospital stay, healing period, conflict, and happy ending.

What is there is good, but it feels kind of emaciated; an outline with barely any meat on it. I know it's a novella, but I would love to see it developed into a full book.

This is calla and westons story.
Yes its a short read but it is such a powerful read.
These 2 start as penpals that is through a scheme that allows people to write to soliders.
How these 2 start as friends and that friendship builds and builds and starts as letters, then calls but then weston is injured and pulls away.
Thisis a book that has you literally feeling what they are feeling.
How their friend ship grows and you learn more about the characters as they read each others letters.
How their feelings start to change and then when weston pulls away.
I absolutely loved this novella

This is a quick wholesome novella military pen pal story. This had my emotions at an all time high. I dont want to give anything away so all i will say is Calla decided to write to a pen pal in the military. Weston ended up being the lucky man to receive these letter because Calla is going to school in the same town he grew up in. Calla letters became the highlight in his life.

This is a slow burn novella and the plot and characters were good.

Excellent book

A.D. Craig has written a wonderful book. From pen pals to roommates, our war hero, Weston, is recovering from wounds received because he was serving our country (as so many wonderful real life men & women are). Calle won’t let him disappear from her life because he’s been hurt. It’s a sweet story of a kooky heroine & an amazing hero finding there way together in hard times to their HEA(RT)! Thank you for sharing your story with us A. D. Craig!

short, but could have been sweeter

A cute concept: volunteer pen pal to soldiers overseas. They write back and forth, begin video chats, and become good friends. He gets medically discharged from the army and returns home and they see if they can overcome new obstacles. There was such little depth to the characters and their relationships. It was a short story, but it was still so superficial in its development.

3.5 🌟 quick wholesome read

I liked the main characters a lot. I wish that there were more supporting characters introduced, but the story was good without them, too, especially for a novella.
I loved the letters and the quirky remarks between the MMC and FMC. There was a bit too much detail at times, and certain things didn't really need to be included, but I get it.
It's a fun feel-good read and makes a perfect palette cleanser between longer books or series.

This was a short read but was so good! Calla and Weston were strangers at the beginning but by the end, they knew each other extremely well! I loved that Calla wasn't afraid to be her sassy and unique self! And Weston loved that about her..
I would have enjoyed an epilogue just to see a little bit of their future but all in all, this was a great story!

Calla ends up being a pen pal to Sergeant Weston. They become friends through letters, and get closer later with emails and video calls. From there we watch their relationship grow, even with some things life throws at them.

A short and fast , but very interesting and enjoyable read.
I just wished to see more of Weston’s recovery, but other than that I liked this.

3⭐️ cute little quick wholesome read. Stayed up until 3am to finish this. Calla signs up to write to an assigned solider, turning out to be Weston. They begin to be penpals, from the same town in Ohio. Then they start video calls until one day he is medically discharged for an accident. Their chemistry was cute and I looove a book with letters/texts back and forth

short and sweet

This was really cute. A lot of fluff. Dual POV. Starts out as PenPals and moves to face to face communication later.

I was married to a man in a wheelchair for years and this felt very accurate to what it’s like. All the physical therapy and the day to day struggles. The self doubt. Very well done and would recommend.

Really cute!

This was actually really cute! What starts as sweet pen pals turns into best friends and eventually…well, you know. They have a couple of struggles but you know it’s HEA!

For those of us who grew up with pen pals (before email even) it kind of satisfies a sweet romantic dream. Loved it! 💗
