Dirty Little Lies

Rate this book
This is an alternate cover edition for ASIN: B00I1U15ZU previously published under the title Dirty Little Lies.

Twenty-nine-year-old Stevie Sinclair has just lost everything: her boyfriend, her apartment, even her ugly bird named Free. (Yeah, she knows it’s stupid name, so don’t start.) But most importantly, Stevie’s lost herself.

As she shuffles through her days in worn-out Hello Kitty PJs—eating ice cream, sipping wine, and contemplating her next move—a magazine article catches her attention. Blaring black letters read: "How to Get Your Sexy Back in Six Easy Steps."

Stevie studies the article in the trashy magazine like the good student she is and immediately knows what she has to do. With the magazine article in hand, and a bottle of red in her bag, Stevie embarks on a journey to reclaim her life and win back her ex.

Until she meets Gabe Shannon. Gorgeous, single, and on a quest of his own, Gabe introduces Stevie to a lifestyle that is sure to help get her sexy back and then some. If she doesn’t chicken out … (Oh, you know where this is going.)

What follows is a story of self-discovery, romantic gestures, erotic encounters, and following one's heart--even if it leads in unexpected directions.

Portions originally published online as The Club e-series, Dirty Little Lies now has 70% more content, chapters from Gabe's point of view, and a sizzling conclusion to this steamy tale.

THREE KINKY-LICIOUS STARS.

description

Readers if you like your books to be kinky, nice and all things spice and you happen to have a couple of hours to spare, then you might want to give this book a try. I don't think this novel will be providing anything original for those of you who like the naughty in their books but overall a likeable short story with a serving of kink ...

What's it all about?
Stevie Sinclair has just been forced to re-evaluate her life. Feeling alone and frumpy after the love of her life dumps her and in desperate need of a make-over she turns to a magazine article which promises to bring back her sexy in six easy steps. So with a renewed optimism and a determination to turn her life around Stevie begins a journey that will be more life changing than she could ever imagine. Stevie believes that once she turns her life around that she will become irresistible to her ex but all that changes when she meets the mysterious and down right sexy, Gabe Shannon. Gabe is more than happy to show Stevie that she is desirable and so begins the lessons of flirting, seduction, erotic pass times and a journey of self discovery. But when her heart starts to head in another direction Stevie has to make decisions that may lead to an unexpected ending.

What did I like?
This book was naughty and erotic, but not so much that it would discourage non readers of this genre to take a peek. There were unexpected twists and giggle worthy scenes that kept me entertained and I definitely felt engaged in the story line right up until the end. The characters were all likeable and there was always something happening in the storyline that kept up the pace of the story telling. Nothing felt forced and the book never felt like it took itself too seriously, there were moments that were designed to be a little on the shock worthy scale but there were also moments of sincerity and love. I liked this authors 'voice' once i'd figured out her direction of plot and there were never moments where the story dragged or unnecessary story line 'fillers'. My favourite part of the book was the ending, well played author I did not see that coming and I also liked that this book is a standalone so no weird cliff hanger or storyline unfinished.

description

Why not five?
I felt drawn in at the start of the book it was pitched as a funny, light-hearted easy to read book and that's what I was delivered for the first 10% or so. But then the book was quickly dragged into an kink-a-thon that took me by surprise. Now don't get me wrong I'm not adverse to a well paced novel with some kink and spice but this book gave me whip lash in it's sudden turn of events. I think my main reason for holding back the stars for this book was it's mixed message of genre and inability to make me connect fully with the characters. There were some mistakes that were obvious throughout the book that often times stopped my flow of reading, but as this is an advanced readers copy those quirks may be ironed out before release day. Overall the author has produced a likeable, quirky sex-romp that passed my reading time nicely.

description

Final thoughts ...
'Dirty little lies' is a pint sized novel with plenty of life. It had funny parts, kinky bits and even a tale of romance threaded right throughout. If you like a story of self discovery and you don't mind the odd saucy scene or two then this book might just be your next five star escape. Give it a try readers, enjoy ... Kisses.

This is the story of Stevie. She loves her boyfriend Max and everything, except their libidos, seems great. After she finds a pack of condoms in his bag she moves out. She wants to Get Her Sexy Back and gets the help from sexy Gabe.

This is as far as I’ll go telling the story since I don’t want to spoil too much. This story has been written numerous times : Problems relationship or wanting to be able to seduce an unreachable hot guy. Getting lessons or help from another hot guy and falling for that hot guy in the end. I don’t mind reading this storyline again but this version wasn’t anything special.

There were also some small things that I didn’t really like

1. She thinks Max has cheated on her and still entertains the idea to win him back. If he wants her back he should grovel and prove himself!!
2. With Gabe there was NO talk about birth control or STD’s and they don’t use a condom
3. At the kinky club they don’t talk about a safe word. Gabe is the owner so it’s not like he is new to it.
4. I’m not a big fan of insta-love. 2 weeks is too soon for me

Overall this was a nice, fast read and I give it 3 stars. The book ends in a HFN. The conclusion of this book is “Dirty Little Tricks”

You know when you are reading something it is not working for you, so you check out other reviews hoping it is not just you, and it turns it is sort of just you!

Yep, that was me reading this book!

It felt so very rushed!

Also it started like this.... "Excessive, though impressive, female skin adorn the space..." now, I know what the author was going for, but in my mind I was picturing something else entirely! (horror show anyone!)

As I say, it was so rushed that it was hard to connect to either character so getting to the sex scenes just made me feel cold. I found myself skimming a lot.

And the club, which btw, is supposed to be about "being open and having a safe place" but we will secretly record you and make you freak out, as we just HAVE to give the people watching a show, despite knowing how it will make you feel. Meh!

I just found the whole club thing a bit ridiculous. Now, I have read books before, and they have had kink clubs or BDSM clubs, but here it just did not come across right to me. All a bit fake.

Editing and formatting wise it was a bit messed up, but I was sort of ignoring it thinking I just got it through netgalley so it may improve, only actually, this book was released ages ago. So it should not have had the issues in it.

Such as a sentence just stopping in the
middle of a line and then starting on a new line
despite being in the middle
of sentence a bit
like this.

At time, a change of scene or time was made evident by 3 little stars, at others it just ran straight on on the same line. And it was not always obvious when a different character had started speaking. The odd wrong word used, or missed out word, punctuation etc

I mean, all in it was OK, but it was not for me, and I was left a bit...

I love picking up a book that is totally different than what I thought it was going to be. But I guess with a name like Dirty Little Lies you should expect a little bit of heat and romance. This book was so much more than that.

For a quick and easy read this book is super hot. I'm totally in love with Gabe! He is gorgeous and single plus he is so sweet and sexy - honestly I wanted more!!

This is the first book that I've read by this author, Clare James, but I'm definitely going after some of her other offerings. This book was well developed even for a short novel with loads of steamy hot scenes that really get your engine moving. I love both of the main characters and I'm excited to see there's a sequel. I just couldn't get enough! Did I tell you I love Gabe???

For a hot and spicy book that you can read in just a few hours you've got to check this one out. Plenty of steam and oh, so HOTTTTT Well done!

This is a me vs. book kind of review, while I read it and finished it, it honestly didn't do nothing for me. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either for me either. It is an bringing-sexy-back-inst-lust kind of read where I found some of the events a little odd and couldn't process their choices. Oh well, on to the next.

When Stevie discovers that her boyfriend, Max, is cheating on her, she decides to follow the advice in a magazine to "get her sexy back". While checking off "flirt with a stranger" off her list, she shows Gabe the rest of her plan. He volunteers to help, good guy that he is. Turns out he owns a sex club where she can have the sexual adventure that she desires. While getting her sexy back, Stevie starts to fall for Gabe.

This is a tough one to rate. It is similar to another book I read, so it is hard for me to not to compare, especially when this one has less character development and I think I allowed myself to fill in Gabe's character holes with those of the character in the other book. I also did not like Stevie's character. I think the author intended her to come off as self-confident, but I saw her as immature and bratty. However, there is plenty of smut. I'd say a 4 out of 5. I mean there is a sex club, and things get hot between Stevie and Gabe.

Wow, this book was a total surprise, I really wasn't expecting it to be so hot. "Dirty Little Lies" was a a smoulderingly sexy read and I bloody loved it. Not only was it full of yummy sexiness but there was a great story to go with it too.... RESULT!!!

"Dirty Little Lies" began with Stevie Sinclair, a woman who was left completely heart broken by her separation from her boyfriend. With insecurities setting in, what Stevie needed was some sound advice on how to get her mojo back. And what better way to get that advice than from a magazine article.. right??? Intent on not wallowing in self pity, she set out on a mission to get her sexy back.

This is when the "Gorgeous Gabe" decided to walk into her life. With an instant connection, Stevie decided to confide in Gabe and told him about her plans and Gabe... well how could he resist helping her on her all important quest!!!
"Mmm. Stevie Sinclair. Yes I think I will help you with your list, Ms Sinclair.
In fact, I don't think there's anything I'd enjoy more."

What followed was Stevie's journey in discovering a whole new sexy life!!

I loved Stevie, she was sweet and funny and when Gabe came along, she really shone. He bought out a brave, curious and very sexy side that Stevie she never knew existed and she truly flourished with Gabe not only by her side but also in her bed!!!
"We're starting our sexual adventure,"
"With what?"
"With words, Stevie. I'm going to show you how
I can make a woman come without even touching her."

And Gabe ... this man was not only gorgeous but kind, caring, confident, domineering and OMG he was so hot. I loved how he helped Stevie truly find herself.. he truly bought out the best in her and she was lucky to have him in her life.
"You're so sweet, I could stay here all day. Your pussy makes me so hard, Stevie.
I don't want to stop."

Stevie and Gabe together were electric. They were on fire, making me blush with all of their steamy adventures. Stevie was one hell of a lucky girl!
"Gabe is like an addiction; this amazing creature. How have I lived so long without this?"

This story had me hooked, resulting in me devouring it in one night. I found it was a refreshing change not to have the usual will they, won't they saga that is so very common in a lot of books at the moment. I loved that Stevie and Gabe didn't hold back with their feelings for each other. And just when I became comfortable, certain that I knew what was on the cards for Stevie and Gabe, along came a twist that I didn't expect. What would happen now between Stevie and Gabe? Stevie was left with a dilemma of epic proportions.

"Dirty Little Lies" is brilliantly written, has fabulous characters and contains lots of smoking hot scenes. I did not want this book to end and I definitely was not ready to say goodbye to the "Gorgeous Gabe".

This is the first book I have read by Clare James but it will not be my last. Dirty Little Lies gets a gorgeous 5 hearts from me!

This is a sweet story of self discovery, as Stevie Sinclair discovers all she fears she’s lost by not having realised a relationship previously.

She decides to get her sexy back, and that entails opening the flood gates for the minimal interaction already logged at the club.

Gabe Shannon is on his own mission, until he gets snowballed by Stevie, given he owns the club and wants her there and willing to open up to it.

The speed is great, and the interaction is well managed.

Gabe appears the serene, measured man he always thought he would be minus the attraction he never thought he would have until he met Stevie.

This was a light hearted foray into something heavier than Stevie ever anticipated. Their dalliance into the heavier kink was received well, but could have been managed a little better, given the club aspect and the conversation about limits and expectations.

It didn’t quite reach the mark for me given the situation and the limits it assumed. I liked the free spirit tone, but struggled with the delivery.

Stevie and her boyfriend Max have been having problems and to top it all off she's just discovered he's cheating on her. While he's away on business she moves into a hotel with her bird Free until she decides what to do with herself now.

Fuelled up on ice cream and wine she reads a Cosmo six-step article and decides she needs to get her sexy back. In the hotel bar she meets Gabe and he offers to help her with her project.

Gabe is gorgeous, he's sweet, sexy and funny and pulls out all the stops to make Stevie happy. I loved Gabe, he brings Stevie to a sex club and she discovers what she's been missing in the bedroom. The relationship was a bit one-sided in my opinion, Gabe gave all while Stevie was always holding back.

I thought Stevie was shallow and immature, twice in this book she was let down by the men in her life and while I could understand her not wanting to talk to them, she didn't even listen to voice mails or read messages. There is a big misunderstanding near the end that could have easily been resolved if she had just listened to her messages.

Hot sex, some humour and a happy for now ending. Will I read the next.....probably.

Looking for a quick read? Need a little spice, humor and steam? Then look no further. Gabe will melt your body in all the right places.

Stevie's life just went down the drain. No more: boyfriend, bird, apartment... gone!

Stevie dated Max for a year. Unfortunately, trouble had been brewing for awhile in this semi paradise of theirs. It finally comes to a head and she falls to pieces. She decides to get back control of her life, since Max took it all away, and ventures on a plan to get her "sexy back." She meets Gabe at a hotel bar, puts her plan in to 5th gear and takes off with it. Of course, Gabe, is all too willing to help with this plan.

Welcome to The Club. Step inside and:
* let your control go
* what you think you know go
* let your hair down and your inhibitions out
* let your body feel
* most importantly: relax and have a grand time

Question is, can Stevie do all of those things? Can she get her "sexy back"? Time will tell as she joins in these "games" with Gabe. And what about her heart in all of this? Will she be able to keep it together? Or will it be broken to pieces a second time? Pick up this book to find out what becomes of Max, Stevie and Gabe.
-------------------------------------------------------
What I loved about this book:
1. Free Bird- That bird cracked me up.
2. Gabe- damn this guy is sexy as all get out. He was a little bit Alpha but in a way I like.(Not crazy or over-the-top)
3. The book made me laugh
4. Definite STEAM factor
5. I loved Gabe's sweet side
6. Fast paced
7. Gabe's feelings for Stevie and all that he does for her.
8. The ending
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I had the privilege to read the majority of this book, in an ARC form, when it was published as The Club parts 1-3. I have reviews up for books 1-2. This book adds more to the story from the very start as well as adding in Gabe's points of view.

Dirty Little Lies. Ugh. I wanted to love this book so much. I was just itching to read this one because I just KNEW that it would be amazing. Unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. Again, it looks like I'm in the minority on this one because a lot of my Goodreads friends really enjoyed it but it turns out that it just wasn't for me.

The book was going okay for me in the beginning. I enjoyed getting to know Stevie. I really felt bad for this poor girl. Can you imagine being with someone for so long, enjoying each others company but something is missing in your relationship: any kind of sexual spark. That would be difficult. Hell, Stevie lasted longer than I would in the relationship! I would have chunked a deuce and been out of there.

After the first few chapters of the story, it started to go downhill for me. I don't want this to sound mean but the magazine article that Stevie was hinging all of her happiness on was bullshit. I thought that the six steps to "get her sexy back" was a little lame. When I read about the six steps in the blurb, I was hoping that it would be something juicy. Not that I can come up with anything juicy that would have been better but I just wanted more than what the author came up with. I didn't find it empowering or moving or anything!

And THEN there was the "new lifestyle" that she was introduced to. I'll be honest ... it didn't seem like the sex that happened was consensual. It seemed forced on her and I don't see how Stevie went from 6 lame-o steps to being this sexual, kinky vixen. It seemed totally out of character for her. It was difficult to swallow and to be honest, it just wasn't appealing to read. After I finished the novel, I realized that Stevie's character didn't seem consistent. She seemed like one person at the beginning of the novel, another one in the middle and then a completely different one at the end. I'm not saying that character growth can't happen, it can but the way that this one was fleshed out just didn't seem like it was realistic. Stevie seemed to swing from one extreme to the next. She's okay with not having sex and then she's okay being a nympho and then she's okay with not having it again and then she's okay just having it sometimes.

There were a few surprises throughout the novel that were a little entertaining but at the same time, there was this convenience to the way that the story went. I read this article once that said when you're writing a book, never go for the convenient situation with the convenient ending because it makes the book unbelievable. That is exactly what happened a few times in this novel. Things would just get buttoned up all nice and pretty without any kind of controversy and I just wish that the controversial way had been how it went because reading about that push and pull of emotions or situations is what makes a book so amazing.

Anyway, this was the first and probably last book that I read by this author because I just didn't enjoy the way that things went and I don't want to be burned twice.

Hot hot hot!! This book was one hell of a ride. Intense, sexy and just plain hot. I see a theme with some books out on the market these days, being that the main male character has some kind of sex club, but in this books it works really really well. Gabe is a great character and I really loved how he was with Stevie. I also really liked Stevie and how she came out of her shell with him. The sass between the two of them was really great as well.

Now, book two anyone?

Dirty little lies had a strong beginning, very promising, but wasn’t very invested in the characters, so I started to loose interest easily by the middle of the book. The club was a sudden turn of events, the heroine caught me off guard with her easy acceptance. I wanted to get to know the hero better but the story moved too fast. Sex scenes were very well written, but that doesn't save this book for me, it just was't my cup of tea.

I was super excited to read this. It’s MPG erotica and from the synopsis I was super into it. But man, this was super underwhelming. I didn’t have high expectations even though I was super excited to start it. To be fair, I’m super excited to read any erotica I come across. But this one just completely missed the mark.

The characters didn’t have anything to them really. You learn of their jobs. And that’s about it. I’ve read super well put together erotica’s with a good story line, well written characters, and good back stories. But this one didn’t do it for me. It just just too... meh.

And there’s another book with these two? There wasn’t even a story in this book and yet there’s another whole book? I’m calling bullshit. No thanks.

I was sent this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.

May contain slight spoilers.

Clare James wrote a brilliant and hilariously seductive novel! Dirty Little Lies and phenomenal! The title is just perfect as well. I absolutely adored the characters, the sex scenes were funny and those plot twists blew my mind away. I absolutely need to read more from Ms. James ASAP.

This story follows 29 year old Stevie Sinclair after she finds out that her boyfriend, Max, is cheating on her. Max and Stevie have a perfect relationship minus the sex life. Stevie could never get off and Max knew it. As soon as she finds out he's cheated she leaves. She comes across a magazine article on how to get your sexy back in six easy steps. She stays at a hotel and meets the handsome and drool worthy Gabe Shannon. She shares the article with him and things take off from there.

Stevie Sinclair was such a sweet character. I enjoyed how she took all her strides like a woman. She fell out of touch with herself while with Max and was determined to get her sexy all the way back. She wasn't afraid to explore her sexuality and allow herself to be overcome by it. I loved how she kept her business and playtime separate without a problem.

Max was an interesting guy. At first I thought he cheated and I hated him for it, but then to find out the truth I thought it was an okay idea, but at the same time the dumbest thing a guy could do. He couldn't satisfy his woman so he should have asked her how -- to teach him how to. It's not that he couldn't, but he just didn't know what was right or wrong for her.

Gabe Shannon -- moment of silence and staring please -- was such a dream, swoon, drool worthy piece of man! I totally loved him, not just for the sexual adventures and how hot of a guy he was. I loved him because he was entrepreneur, he was sweet, he knew how to draw the lines between business and pleasure and he taught himself how to enjoy life.

The meeting and relationship between Stevie and Gabe was pure perfection. At first, I loved how things went slow and it was just about helping Stevie get her sexy back and make Max jealous at the same time. Then as the story progressed and Stevie ventured into The Club, Gabe began to feel possessive, but wouldn't allow himself to want more. The fact that they both tried to hide their growing feelings for one another was absolutely funny. I'm glad they held out because the ending was perfection to learn the truth about Max and Gabe.

This was such a fabulous novel with slight BDSM moments. Overall I am excited to get my hands on Dirty Little Tricks because I need more of Stevie and Gabe for sure.

Side note: the series title "Quick & Dirty" is just a perfect fit! Clare James did fantastic!

~~ 5 Dirty and Yummy Stars ~~

If you are looking for that fun, sexy, steamy but quick read….Well Dirty Little Lies is the book for you. This book was wonderful!!!!! I got the privilege to read part of this book when is was self published as a serial novella called The Club. Let me tell you I am so glad that Clare James created this into 1 complete book. This book will have you laughing, smiling, swooning, and for sure have your panties melting. This was an easy flowing book. It is primarily told in Stevie's POV but we did get some excellent Gabe POV's thrown in there. I loved reading what he was thinking.

So the book starts out where Stevie and her boyfriend of a year hit a rough patch in their relationship and she moves out. In the mean time she reads an article about how to get her sexy back. That article leads her to a hotel bar where she meets Gabe. Things heat up from there. Stevie has created a list of things she wants to do to improve her situation, well this is where Gabe comes in....He is willing to help her with the list. What happens after their first meeting is so HOT...you will need to read it yourself to get the true pleasure of this book. Let me just say Gabe surely takes Stevie on quite the "adventure" ;)

I really liked Stevie's character. She was witty and fun with a good head on her shoulders. I found her to be believable and relatable. I felt her reactions to a couple of the scenarios that happen in the book were spot on. I know I would've had the same reaction. I was only slightly disappointed in 1 decision she made towards the end of the book, but after finishing the book and thinking about it, it made sense to me as to why she made the decision. (Confusing…I know, just read the book so you know what I am talking about….lol ) As for Gabe…. Gabe was fabulous . I couldn't wipe the smile off my face whenever he was in the story. He is so sweet and yummy. He is so smooth that I can almost hear his voice in my head when he is talking to Stevie. I also found him to be genuine. His relationship with Stevie never felt forced or fake to me. They truly made a great couple and boy could they bring on the heat ;) I also loved how this book ended….I thought it was totally perfect for Gabe and Stevie :)

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for that quick, steamy, and fun love story that will leave you with a huge smile on your face.

Oh my GAWD! This book absolutely grabbed me and hauled me right in, right from the very start. I absolutely loved and connected with Clare James writing style. No pretentious waffle, no padded out descriptions, it was just perfect and the icing on the cake – the humour!

I can really see this being made into a film as I pretty much ‘watched’ the whole book as I was reading it. How The Club could be filmed though might be a bit of a problem. :0) This book envelops you with it's sexy as hell encounters as Gabe offers to help Stevie get her sexy back. Do you know I would be hard pressed to actually pick a favourite scene they all pretty darn fine.

Dirty Little Lies is choc full of little one liners, I had the biggest grin on my face a lot of the time.

When I was reading a certain line from a film that may or may not contain a yellow brick road ;0) - during the scene they were in it was just the most absolutely perfect way to describe her situation and I really laughed at that one. I loved all off Stevie’s little interactions with the reader with her one liners, they brilliantly connected me with her character.

Let’s not forget Free Bird! Hahahahaa, never thought I would warm to a Cockatoo but oh my what that bird comes out with and at the most opportune times, I think Free Bird must get the Best Supporting role award for this book!

I want everyone to read this book for a bit of light relief. It’s so sexy, downright dirty, freakishly funny and full of great characters, this is definitely going on my favourites 2014 shelf without a doubt and definitely deserves 5 orgasmic stars and I would give more if I could!

I received an ARC of this in return for an honest review. My reviews are my own and are 100% honest and given as though I have purchased the book and whether I would be satisfied or not with the content within.

It’s not often I read a book and actually laugh out loud! This book was hilarious in parts. I enjoyed reading Stevie’s inner monologues. Give the girl a drink and sit back and watch the car crash that pours out of her mouth! She’s a drunk sharer! She meets Gabe in a pub and totally shares so much I literally had tears in my eyes reading it. I can only imagine what I’d be thinking in Gabe’s situation. It was cute, it was funny and it was a way in for Gabe!!

The secondary character in a book doesn’t usually stand out much but there was a character in this story that definitely needs a credit….Free!! That bird and the banter between Stevie and the bird was funny.

So anyway, armed with a magazine article, Stevie is changing her life. She’s bringing her sexy back. She’s been stuck in a relationship plodding along, chasing the elusive O and is now out in the big wide world determined to turn her life around. And this is where the book gets hot!

Gabe’s world is like nothing Stevie has encountered before. How lucky was she that she spilled her feelings to him in the pub and not a deranged maniac lol. Anyway, without giving too much away, Gabe took her on a journey of rediscovering herself, and also discovering things about herself she didn’t even realise.

The writing was totally effortless. The author told the story with class. She combined humour with hotness. She is definitely an author I would follow. Every scene, I could picture in my mind and I don’t mean the author waffled on telling us intricate details of the wallpaper. She created the scene by sowing the seeds of the scene and my imagination could take over. I like it when an author does this.

I look forward to reading more from this author and she deserves the 5* I’m giving her.

Five crazy hot stars!!!!!!
ARC for honest review on Netgalley.
Well this book was just perfect!
Stevie is an amazing character, when we first meet her she is broken, she doesn’t feel sexy anymore and she is in a pleasure-less relationship where she is definitely not happy.
When the secrets come out she has the perfect excuse to run away from her life and following this crazy magazine article she starts to “Get her sexy back in six easy steps”.
But that wouldn’t be possible without the sexy commanding Gabe who steals her breath away from the start, and commands her body with his dark compelling voice.
He shows her a part of herself she never knew and also helps her get in touch with the parts she lost touch with.
The fact that Stevie changes before our eyes, not only physically but also personality wise is crazy. At the end of the book she is this strong beautiful woman, who takes what she wants no questions asked, nothing like the shy different girl in a sea of Ken Dolls we meet at the beginning.
This book is about finding what you need and not settling for anything less, we all deserve to be as happy as we can be, and there is nothing you should avoid because it seems improper, if something excites you, you should go for it!
Life is short! Forget about what people would think and enjoy the ride!
The writing was really good and I felt the connection with the characters, they had extremely detailed personalities that allowed me to truly get to know them.
The sex scenes include BDSM play and its crazy good, the club’s picture in my imagination was paradise.

My Rating:

4.5

Favorite Quotes:

“I’m so out of place. All the women are perfectly posed in their sculpted Pilates bodies – golden and dewy – draped in tiny, strappy little numbers. I, on the other hand, am secured in my modern-day girdle and vintage dress. With coiffed hair, matte face, and pale lips to match. I was going for Ingrid Bergman, but have a feeling it’s coming off more like the sad librarian who lives with her cats. I was born in the wrong time. I’m sure of it.”

“I smile with a contrived come-hither glance that I’m sure looks more like I have a weird facial tick. I’m so not the flirting type.”

My Review:

This book was cardio for me as it had my heart pumping with all chambers flooded. After reading this book, I dreamed about completing a life make-over like Stevie, I want to go from dowdy to sexy too! Although - I am not brave enough to go through all the steps and bare it all in a club as she did, but what woman would not want to find and be adored by a Gabe – what a fantasy. The plot was interesting, the story was well written, and I loved and cared for the characters and cheered for them all along. The overall result was erotic, humorous and romantic – which is the perfect combination in my opinion. What more could a smut reader ask for?

Cute kind of audio book.

Dirty Little Lies, also known as The List, was an okay kind of book. Cute, predictable, and ehh. In it, you will meet Stevie Sinclair. She's sort of trying to re-evaluate her life.. and it's kind of going okay. Then there's Gabe, who is there to help her through this.. sexually.

Of course this all about making herself look desirable and shit for her ex.. but we all know that they start to feel something for each others. Besides that, this book has some twists in it - that could either be exciting, frustrating, or kind of dumb. Depends on how you feel about them. Me? They were okay.. I honestly didn't really care that much.

Throughout the book, they both had great chemistry and once they got over that big ass relationship hump - everything sort of worked out for them. The ending was cute.. but I doubt I will drop everything that I'm doing to read the second book in this series.

Hi all!
I'm the author of Dirty Little Lies, a very steamy romance!
Warning- this is much hotter than my New Adult romances :)

Stevie Sinclair is my favorite character ... evah! She is sassy, funny, and just makes you feel good. We all need a Stevie in our lives.

This is a story about a sexual adventure, love, romance, and finding yourself. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it!

It's being called "panty-melting hot" -- need I say more?

Hugs!

**Contains some spoilers**
Well this was a well written book that I found flowed really well. The story line picked up and got my attention from the very beginning and didnt lose it until I was finished. I liked Stevie but my favorite character, well other than the bird obviously haha, was Gabe. He was like the dream that most women have. Was all about Stevie and not about just himself. And all this time we think that he is there to help Stevie through the relationship that crumbled before her, then we find out that maybe she is helping him just as much. Then when Max, Stevie's ex, ends up being her final challenge I was so mad lol When Clare wrote them being back together, I was heartbroken for Gabe. I did enjoy how Clare made us think that they were going to get back together and then had Gabe popping back up in Stevies thoughts.

A truly moving book about a woman who has let her self-esteem and confidence bottom out. This is a novel most women can identify with at some point in their lives. From Stevie’s inner dialogue to her embracing her fears and pushing forward, you will laugh and cry…and be inspired!

Being in one of the longest relationships of her life, Stevie is in a rut. She sees Max, her live in boyfriend, as just another ‘Ken Doll’. He is visually appealing, they have a great friendship, but in the boudoir he can give her the big ‘O’ she needs.
However, she sticks with the safe relationship because she thinks she can’t do any better and it is what it is…she settles.

Yeah, my sex life with Max sucks balls. He knows it; I know it…
No, it wasn’t hot and heavy like I had with some guys, but it was comfort and love and security. Real grown-up stuff. And considering I turn thirty this year, I’d say it’s about time.
~Stevie settling and accepting her bad sex life and lack of orgasms

Finding condoms in Max’s travel kit, causes a confrontation between the two. He admits to sleeping with others. Yes plural OTHERS! Then doesn’t explain he leaves immediately for a business trip.
Wallowing is pity and doubt, what’s a modern girl to do? Turn to Cosmo of course. The article about getting your sexy back is right on the money for what Stevie needs right now.

As I read the article, one thing is glaringly true - my sexy has long left the building. But no more. My mind races, forming a plan and I go with it. I mean if Cosmo can’t help put my life on the right track, what can? ~Stevie planning to get her sensuality back after her split with Max

Staying at a hotel after moving from Max’s apartment, she meets Gabe. He is sexy and easy to talk to, especially since Cosmo said to flirt with a stranger and have a sexual adventure Stevie dives in batting her eyelashes.
Gabe is an interesting man. He oozes sexuality and confidence. It doesn’t take long for Gabe to agree with Stevie’s plan to get her sexy back. He even takes her to a private club to help her with her adventure.

“It’s Venus,” Gabe says.
Hence the name, I guess, but weird all the same. Venus watches over us and we approach.
Then Gabe reaches in his pocket, pulls out my panties, and drops them at the statue’s feet.
~Stevie and Gabe entering club Venus and leaving an offering to the Goddess of love

Seeing how Stevie grows as a character and regains her confidence is inspiring. Gabe also shows her that wanting something more than vanilla is normal; she just needs the right partner.
She dives into her adventure with little prodding from Gabe.

This is what I wanted - an adventure - and I say it’s go big or go home. ~Stevie getting into the spirit of her sexual adventure and embracing what club Venus offers

These characters will keep you on your toes wondering what is behind the next door. Both have agreed to the time allotted for the adventure. They will part as friends…but what if they want more?
Stevie started this to get her sexy back in order to take control of her relationships and gain Max back. Will she still want him after the sweet and attentive Gabe?
Sweet, sexy and inspiring, this novel doesn’t disappoint.

How to get your sexy Back in 6 easy steps. Well Stevie Sinclair is about to find out! And Claire James does a very good job telling how Stevie goes about this adventure in Dirty Little Lies.

Stevie is in a relationship with Max. They have been living together for some time now and her sex life with Max sucks balls. Max just doesnt give Stevie the tingling, butteflies and orgasms. Stevies attention span with men, careers, apartments, hair color... are very frequent changes.

Stevie and Max have a routine lifestyle and Stevie is not happy with it. Max is going out of town for a business trip. After getting up going to the kitchen to find Max preparing breakfast as he always does. She is on her way to the kitchen and catches a glimpse of herself in a mirror and realises how awful she looks in the mornings. She decides this is why he keeps his eyes closed during sex. Max gets up to go finish packing for his business trip and Stevie goes to help him. She goes to get his toiletry case for him to take on the trip and she notices a strip of condoms in it.
She cant figure out why because she is on the pill. She questions him about it and he just cant explain to her why he has them. Immediately she thinks he is having an affair he explains it isnt. He asks for time to figure it out so he can explain it to her. His ride get there and has to leave and tells her they will talk about it when he gets back. Stevie tells him she'll be gone by the time he gets back.

Stevie sits and cries eating and drinking and sleeping for 36 hours. Until Tia shows up and makes her explain what has happened and tells her she is moving out and she has a week til Max returns. After time she gets restless and starts flipping thru her magazines until a title captures her attention. "How I Got My Sexy Back in Six Easy Steps." She now has a mission.

She goes thru the steps of preparing herself to go out and complete this mission. She gets all cleaned up and pampered herself to prepare her first step. She packs up her stuff and her bird 'Free', which Max bought her on their 6 month anniversary. and decides to use her points to stay at the Marriott.

She goes to the bar that evening (with the torn page of the magazine her 6 steps of sexy back) and decides this is her first step to get her sexy back. She orders her martini and starts to go over her list. She has noticed a very sexy man sitting nearby. She laughs at her ridculous attempt to flirt. She has now had a few drinks and the sexy man comes over to talk her. He intoduces himself as Gabe and as they talk she explains her mission to get her sexy back and Gabe offers to help her get it back. But explains it needs to be done his way and she has to trust him.

Well does Stevie get her sexy back and what has Gabe got to offer her in help? The guy is so sexy she cant refuse him. Gabe takes her thru the steps he feel appropriate. But does he have other plans for himself?

I gave this 4 stars. I love sex in it. Steams the words right off the page. Gabe is hot!! Gabe is Sexy as hell and can just talk to you on the phone and give you a major orgasm!! If your into some hot erotic moments then you MUST read this. Its kept me hot and bothered all the way thru it. The sex in this book is enough to make you want to Get Your Sexy Back.

*ARC received in exchange for an honest review*

Stevie is a young professional woman living in a committed relationship with her boyfriend Max. Everything is nearly perfect about their relationship, except the sex. To put it bluntly, the sex sucks. So when Stevie happens upon the package of condoms in Max’s valet bag, she knows that he is getting his needs met elsewhere.

Max loves Stevie, but he knows that he just doesn’t “do it” for her, at least on the sexual level. There’s heat there, but he just can’t get her over the top, leading to a disconnect in their relationship. So when Stevie finds out that he’s been keeping a secret, he either has to come clean or lose her forever…thing is though, things aren’t always what they seem.

Gabe is hot as hell, and when Stevie meets him in the bar of the hotel she’s staying, there is instant attraction. He mysterious, rich, and knows how to give a woman exactly what she wants, as Stevie finds out the very first night. When Stevie comes up with a list of “How I Got My Sexy Back in Six Easy Steps”, Gabe volunteers for the job, helping Stevie get her sexy back, and so much more.

It’s nice for once to see a confident, professional, woman who knows what she wants, and isn’t afraid to go and get it, especially not at the risk at coming off like a slut or whore. Far too often, when we see a sexually adventurous woman, we see a guilty conscience that this type of behavior is unacceptable for a woman, the double standard that it’s normal for men, but not for women; when, in fact, it couldn’t be any further from the truth. Here in the 21st century, we know that it is ok to be in touch with our sexuality, in fact, our relationships are all the stronger for it.

Honestly I was kind of conflicted throughout the book if I was TeamGabe or TeamMax. They represent two completely different types of men, especially superficially. Max is the one that you take home to mom and settle down with, whereas Gabe is the one that you have the hot fling with and you cling to the memories of your short time together. Digging further though, you find that Gabe simply running from the committed lifestyle for fear of getting hurt again, when in truth, he might be the most faithful of the two.

Dirty Little Lies is one helluva hot four and a half star read. My only knock on it is that I wanted more. I really thought there could have been more character exploration in both Gabe and Stevie, and I’m hoping subsequent books are the ticket to that. This was a fast, easy read that I devoured in one sitting. And I’m not joking about the heat factor. Ms. James uses Venus (the club) to engage all of the senses and I couldn’t help but think that Stevie is one lucky bitch. Kudos, Ms. James, you’ve set a new daydream standard….
