The section on KPIs was a gold mine. Everyone kept telling me I needed them but no real explanation about what they were. The explanation and definition has made a real difference for me!
Call The Damn Leads came across my social media feed as an advertisement and it peaked my interest. Given that I'm attempting to start my own business and I did in fact read it, I suppose it is face value proof that the author's marketing methods work. Additionally, there is no taking away from Wilson's success in professional and personal life. However, I don't know that I would recommend this book to anyone after reading it myself. The first few chapters of the book feel like a sales pitch for his website, other books, podcast, etc. It definitely takes a while before the author gets to what I thought would be the intention of the book: how to create organic leads, manage leads, close sales and operate within a sales environment.
There is some good information here and I think some readers will benefit from the knowledge. Others will find that it's a lot of good information that they already know. Tips such as "use a CRM instead of index cards and highlighters for organizing data" will seem obvious to those readers. The writing style will appear approachable to some, but sophomoric to others. For example, there's a lot of usage of memes and online acronyms such as "IYKYK."
Also, I found it odd that a book that talks so much about work ethic wasn't even narrated by the author. It's narrated by AI that frequently mispronounces the word lead and other words that are pronounced differently based on context. So, there's a weekly podcast that the author does, but he couldn't be bothered to narrate his own book. It's just strange.
Finally, you can skip the last few chapters of the book because it's another sales pitch for his mentoring platform. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised, but the book feels like kernels of useful information wrapped in a sales pitch.
Informative, concise and just a little funny. Was reminded of some things I knew and learned a few new things as well. Worth the read if you're in sales type job
