Ivy Pierce has had a harder life than most. She suffered tragedy at a young age then spent the next eleven years in and out of hospitals fighting an illness doctors couldn’t identify while watching her mother make sacrifices to take care of her. When Ivy finally gets better, she resigns herself to the fact that she can either have health or love, always afraid that the illness will return. Ivy never wants to burden anyone again, so she makes sure to keep everyone at arm's length. That is until Fate intervenes and puts her on a collision course with a gorgeous, charismatic Hunter who makes her blood burn and her heart skip a beat whenever he's near. Her biggest battle, however, may be learning that she’s worth saving.
FATE’S BIGGER PLAN…
Christian Chiasson dreamed of finding his soul mate - until the night his parents died. His father's bellow of grief that reverberated through the bayou has haunted Christian ever since. To keep his heart safe, Christian is content to let his brothers find romance and continue the family line. Although when Christian crosses paths with a beautiful and brave woman being hunted by minions of the Demon of Souls, he’s drawn to her in a way that cannot be explained. He suddenly finds that he would walk through the fires of Hell if it means she could live. Now that he’s found her, Christian can't imagine life without her.

Love this book as much as the other Chiasson books. Loved Christian and Ivy’s story, and can’t wait for Riley and Marshall’s. I really liked the demon angle of this book. Nice to NOT have Delphine involved in some her deadly shenanigans.
And, as usual, it was so nice to see Beau and Davena, Vincent and Olivia, Lincoln and Ava, and Kane LaRue.
It’s amazing how one can describe a DEMON as being breathtakingly beautiful ( but she really did get what she deserved.)
There wasn’t a whole lot of sexual tension but there was some good sex. So, if you don’t want sex then don’t get this book.
"Wild Flame" by Donna Grant. Book 4 in the Chiasson series.
I liked this book about Christian and Ivy. The story is a novella so the romance between the couple is very fast. You can read this novella as a stand alone but really the series should be read from the beginning because there is an ongoing story line that runs through all the books. I also recommend reading the LaRue series as well because both series are connected. The main characters in each of the series are cousins to each other and characters from both series can be found in each others' series books. All that being said, this book about Christian (the youngest Chiasson brother) and Ivy (a new character to the series) was really well done.
Ivy didn't know anything about the paranormal world until she was attacked by something invisible. It was a good thing Christian was there to save her. His whole family has said they would protect her and find out what she's really facing. There's an obvious attraction between her and Christian but she just can't take the chance to get to know him when she could be dead tomorrow because of whatever is after her. The heartache would be too great.
Christian has vowed never to fall in love. He's seen what happened to his father after their mother died. He always wanted a love like his parents had and he thinks he could have it with Ivy. But what if he and his family can't save her? What if he fails protecting her? He just can't take the chance. Or should he savoir the time he has with her because nobody knows what will really happen in the future. He's not sure how long he can deny his feelings for Ivy.
The story moves quickly and catches your attention right away. The characters are vibrant and entertaining. The chemistry between Ivy and Christian was very well done. You felt the longing between them and you really want them to be together.
Overall, I liked this novella and look forward to reading the next one.
They've hunted the things that go bump in the night in the bayou for generations.
Christian closed off his heart to love when he lost his parents. He didn't want to experience the pain of loosing someone. When he saw her in the bar, he knew she was trouble.
Ivy was happy to be alive, after a long term childhood illness. She's kept her relationships uncomplicated. It was better that way.
What hunts for Ivy won't stop until they have her where they want her - in hell.
Wild Flame is a page turner. It was difficult to put down.
Sigh. It is official. Christian Chiasson has stolen my heart. I knew during the other books that when he fell it was going to be hard, but all the emotions! Hell Hounds are after Ivy, but the only one who believes she didn’t do anything to cause it is Christian. The other Chiassons aren’t so trusting of her story. Christian decides he will do whatever he can to help her. Ivy was his perfect match even down to not wanting to fall in love. There were definitely a few tears during this book. With only Riley’s book left, I can already tell I will be revisiting this family many times.
This was my fav out of the series. Well so far because I've pre ordered Riley and Marshalls story so that may very well end up being my fav. But as of right now Christian has won me over big time!! He was determined to not fall in love but he never expected Ivy. The paranormal suspense in this book was amping too. Love love loved it ❤
Christian Chiasson is a hunter fighting the supernatural trying to keep the innocent safe never letting any female get too close that is, until he meets Ivy Pierce. When Ivy's life is in danger by something she can't even see Christian is the only one who can save her even if it means going to Hell.
I love the Chiasson family. This story is crazy. Demons, hell hounds and true love. What more could you ask for. I wonder if Riley will find her own true love?
When Donna Grant isn't writing about Dragons and Druids and Fae and.. she's writing about things that go bump in the night. In her Chiasson Series, she tells the story of 5 sibling raised to keep their parish safe. After loosing their parents all of them decided on two things,
1. no serious relationships for them 2. Their babysister needs to get out of the life..
Of course those boys are a falling and Christian is the last male Chiasson standing. He is sure he will never tumble as his parents deaths almost destroyed him. But when pretty Ivy Pierce is stalked by Hell Hounds, Christian knows he has to do something. And once he gets involved, that boy is sunk.
Ivy Pierce was a sickly child and the doctors had no clue what was wrong with her. In and out of the hospital her entire childhood until one day about 10 years ago, she was suddenly cured. What she didn't know was that her mother sold her soul so that Ivy would live. The terms were her mother had 10 years then they would be coming for her. Except mom died a couple of years ago and those that rule hell think, Ivy should pay the piper.
It would be nice if Ivy had any idea that there were actually things that did go bump in the night.. she is actually an innocent and the Chaissons are determined to protect her.
Christian and Ivy have a rather weird gift of the magi going on. Christian is willing to fight until his last breath for Ivy, even compromising his brothers and their wives but Ivy won't allow it and is willing to give herself up.
Only Donna Grant doesn't write simple, nope there is way more going on than just a little soul gathering.. and as usual the Chaissons are right smack in the middle of the war.
Another excellent read.. oh yeah, what's going on with the sister? Well she's not as out of the fight as her brothers believe.. *grins*
It seems that those who fight falling in the love the hardest fall the hardest. That is exactly what Ivy and Christian have going for them. Ivy believes more than most her life has a short expiration date. She spent years in the hospital, bedridden with an unknown illness. While doing nothing but lying in a bed she witnessed her mother miss out on life while she took care of Ivy. Years later and seemingly healthy Ivy has vowed never to let someone get close enough to her that they would one day have to take care of her.
Those vows never to let anyone close has kept Christian from ever having more than a one night stand. He doesn’t want to see the one he loves in danger from the evil paranormal that his family fights on a daily basis. With his brothers recently paired up with the ladies of their dreams he knows that they will carry on the Chiasson name with their children. All he has to see to is protecting the world from the evil that they don’t even know exists and on occasion find a willing woman to warm his sheets. All this seems simple enough until he sees the Hell Hounds that are pursuing Ivy.
I giggled and rolled my eyes at Ivy and Christian so much. They were clueless that the love bug had got such a deep bite on them. Christian and Ivy were both fighting the obvious for such similar reasons. They even went into their hot and sexy tryst with a no strings talk before hand. Oh this made for some great tension while they were falling hard and fast. Fate is fickle and she has plans for this couple that get interrupted and derailed by a whole other evil.
NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 REVIEW: Wild Flame is the fourth book in Ms. Grants Chiasson series. We finally get to see Christian at his best and weakest moments. This was a really fast story. I enjoyed learning more about Christian and why he is the way he is. I can’t really tell you too much because that would give it away. But, do know that we will see a side of him we didn’t know we would ever see. Ivy is thrust into Christian’s world and she does a great job of accepting all the craziness that follows the Chiasson’s family. Ivy is very brave and fits in perfectly with the Chiasson family. I can’t wait to see what is next. Bring on Reilly.
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Donna Grant in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.
I love the Chiassons. They are like the Winchester brothers. They hunt the supernaturals who pester humanity in the Bayou area of Louisiana. Due to the demise of their parents, the Chiasson siblings are afraid to fall in love for their loved ones will just be casualties to their cause. But of course, fate is hard to beat when it is knocking on your door. I wish this is not a novella. There's no room for the story to fully develop in order to become a fantastic read. Don't get me wrong, the story is entertaining; it is just in fast-forward mode. I am hoping that Riley's story will be longer than this book. Please, Ms. Grant?!
Wild Flame was filled with adventure, passion, danger and love. Christian refuses to have relationship or fall in love, but not because he doesn't want them because he is trying to save any woman, that would be his, life and to save himself from heartbreak if she got killed. But fate steps in. And in steps Ivy into his life. Bringing danger along with her. Christian is going to do everything he can to save her, even walking through hell. He can't lose the one woman who he fell in love with.
It was a really great book to read. And I'm looking forward to Rileys book plus the cousins books.
I LOVE these Chiassons! Christian has always intrigued me... but then I do love to watch a confirmed bachelor fall hard. Ivy was a wonderful match for him.
This novella was a quick read for me. The action right from the beginning kept me hooked till the end. I wish it had been longer as there is elements of this story that Grant only just touched on. I hope they show up in future stories. This author creates wonderful worlds and I just can't get enough.
Absolutely loved Wild Flame. Hmmmmm, my mind keeps saying that Liv is Deidre living in hell, not a cave. Deidre lost against the Dark Warriors and maybe she's back as Liv, setting her sights on the Chiasson's and maybe the LaRue's. Could be very interesting reads ahead if this were to happen. Just saying, these are my thoughts.
Ivy and Christian, wow, very well suited and absolutely likeable characters. Yup, there's chemistry between them. Both the Chiasson and LaRue series are revving up to be spectacular reads one where I'll be putting in my pre-orders as soon as it's posted.
All four books in the series are excellent but way too short. They are still very much worth reading. I love the brothers and how they love and try to protect their sister but they do it in the wrong way and she leaves. She runs to her cousins The LaRues which is also an excellent series by Donna Grant. I would recommend her books to everyone who loves paranormal books.
