Im one of those proclaimed COI defenders because i felt that from the jump people were being heavily unfair to lumian and were expecting him to make Klein type choices, I liked Lumian as a character himself, he might have been a pupet that could have been replaced by anyone at anytime but he still tried his best to choose his own fate “Who he is doesn’t matter” It could have been anyone in his situation right now. He isn’t special.
“What Matter is The Role I Play” The job is the main issue, nothing more nothing less. Anyone capable could and would have taken the role, willingly or not.
“But What I want to do matters just as much” I will still be my own person, regardless of whether the person Lumian Lee matters or not in this situation. I still make my decisions, I am still myself, My role in this world doesn’t define me. He might be a pre-built puppet of the gods, but that puppet has his own goals, life, and will decide his own ending.
Every event and the World building of Ruins had my mind blown and on the edge of my seat. Majority of things were unpredictable, from volume 1 with the Cordu Incident up to Volume 8 with the apocalyspe, I couldnt predict SHIT and Cuttlefish ATE.
4 stars because - The pacing, the damn pacing, that is the biggest bane of this novel. Some characters didnt live up to their potential, i was expecting more from characters like Anthony and I was ready to die on a hill for him being a Virtual Persona of Adam at some point especially since we knew very little about him.
