Rate this book
When workaholic Pierce Simms’s sister passes, he suddenly finds himself unemployed, back in the hometown he fled, and raising his niece and nephew. Despite that, he’s confident he has things under control—at least until his sister’s high-school sweetheart shows up.

With his teaching grant ended, Dalton O’Dell is at loose ends and tight purse strings. Just as the world crashes down on him, he learns his ex-girlfriend has passed and named him guardian of her two young children. Chaos ensues when he and her brother, Pierce, are forced together to raise the toddlers in Pierce’s family farmhouse.

Nestled in the enchanting beauty of the farm, Pierce and Dalton bond over the challenges of co-parenting and their shared grief as unexpected love blossoms. Love might not be enough, however, if they can’t learn to bridge the gap between their different worlds and overcome the trauma of their pasts.

Greyson McCoy loves to travel. After years of being tied down to a life of kids, work, running a small farm, and all things domestic, he and his husband have taken full advantage of their empty nest to travel the world.

The joy of writing came to Greyson late in life. While completing his master’s degree, he found himself fighting between desperately wanting to write fiction and finishing the homework and papers he’d been assigned.

After his master’s was finished, Greyson decided to shirk his life of responsibility and pursue his dream of writing full time. His stories reflect many of the locations he and his husband have visited over the years.

Pierce had been estranged from his family for several years but when his sister became ill, he returned back to the farm where he was raised and he took care of her for the last six months of her life. She had two little children whose father was serving a long jail sentence and didn't care for the kids. Pierce was left in charge of the farm, but surprisingly, she left the guardianship of her kids to a former boyfriend, Dayton.

For the sake of the children, Pierce and Dayton agreed to live together at the farm and co-parenr the kids. But then their feelings get in the way and they have to figure out how to do what's best for the two little children that they have both grown to love.

A very sweet story of family love.

I great short read. This is my first book by this author but I’ll definitely be looking for more. ‘Bridging Hope’ had a good storyline, strong characters and chemistry.

This was the story of Pierce and Dalton. Two men who meet through tragedy and join together to care for Pierce’s young niece and nephew. They fast become friends and feelings grow, they become lovers until one steps aside leaving heartbreak.

My only issue with this book was that I wanted more 😊

Dalton is named guardian of two children. He’s overwhelmed at the thought of being a father. When he meets Pierce, the children’s uncle, he’s overwhelmed again. Pierce vowed to never return to his hometown because of the abuse he suffered at the hands of his father. When his sister was ill he had to return to help her. Expecting to have to stay to care for his niece and nephew, he was shocked to learn they weren’t his to care for. Agreeing to co-parent seemed the best choice for everyone.

Pierce was selfish even though he thought he was doing the right thing. I thought it took a little longer than necessary for him to realize where he needed to be though. This didn’t make him unlikeable oddly enough. Just a bit out of touch with the reality of his situation.

Both characters were sweet even with the issues they had. I thought the author did a good job of showing their budding relationship without rushing them into it. The world building was good given that it wasn’t a long story. The visuals of the farm were nicely done and I could see and feel the view from the bridge.

This was a low angst, short story with a lot of heart.

Greyson McCoy is a new-to-me author and I very much enjoyed reading Bridging Hope. It's a pretty quick read at only 89 printed pages/22,000 words. Unlike what I suspect some reviewers do, I don't give less stars just because I wish a book were longer. I knew the length of this one before I requested a review copy.

I enjoy a well written shorter book because I can squeeze it in between longer ones or start and finish it when I don't have a lot of time to read. I think the author did a very good job of telling this story in a small number of words; sometimes less is better. This story didn't need a lot of filler and I liked how it flowed.

The blub will tell you what the story is about; I'm going to say how it made me feel. I was touched in a lot of ways by how dedicated the two MCs were to raising the two young children in this story. I wanted to knock some sense into Pierce when he did something to almost lose the best thing that had happened to him in a while. Dalton was a sweet character and I loved his parents, too.

An advanced copy of this book was provided to me at my request; my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

I've been going back and forth about this review for a few days. Bridging Hope is about two men who are thrown together to raise two little kids. Both are whirling from the death of Pierce's sister, but there is so much more between them. It was a good story, and I loved seeing how the relationship between Pierce and Dalton unfolded. It's a quick read and one that will leave you with a smile. I will also say I wanted to slap Pierce and knock some sense into him. LOL. But as much as I liked the story, I wish there was more. I felt like I needed more on the characters and the relationship. More development all around for both the story and the characters. It wasn't bad or completely lacking, but I think it could be so much more. 4 stars.

A brief read charting Dalton and Pierce's story as they fall in love whilst adjusting to sudden fatherhood, being the joint guardians of 2 small children who have lost their mother. Pierce is a bit of an idiot at first but he finally realises the error of his ways! And I liked Dalton who is determined to do the right thing throughout, regardless of the impact to him.

3.5 stars. Enjoyable short read with two nice realistic MCs. The story was well balanced throughout and was very satisfying. I would have liked more as I'm usually greedy for more depth but this worked really well.

This is the first book I have read by this author but won't be the last. This is a well written, short story about two men who are thrown together due to some sad circumstances and find love and comfort in each other.

This story was okay. Not great because the drama felt off.

BRIDGING HOPE is the first novella in the Bridging Hearts series. We start with Pierce - a workaholic who has ended up in the last place he ever expected... his childhood home. It doesn't hold any happy memories as he was physically abused by his father. When his sister dies though, he steps up to the mark for his niece and nephew. The complication arises when his sister puts Dalton, an ex-boyfriend, down as guardian for them though. Can the two of them work together for the sake of the children?

For a shorter-length story, this one packs a punch. The world- and character-building are clear and concise, giving plenty of details about the farm, the children, and the MCs. Pierce gets his priorities mixed up at one point, but this just makes him more realistic. I loved how Dalton was the steady one, who had dreams but wasn't afraid to either put them on hold for the sake of the children or make it work around them.

A great story that I enjoyed and have no hesitation in recommending.

Sweet & Heartwarming

This is a very sweet and heartwarming short story. I enjoyed reading along as Pierce and Dalton worked together for the sake of the children but then built so much more together despite their own baggage. I'm looking forward to the next book.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion
