Ernie Lundy's intelligence and charm disguise a violent quest for wealth and power. His journey begins in 1890 with a dramatic escape from an abusive home. Leaving a trail of misery, he escapes US justice and takes a job as a quarry manager in Nova Scotia. Kathleen Matthews, the owner's daughter and Will Rutherford, a local farmer's son, team up to unmask Lundy with dramatic consequences for all.
Very interesting story set in 1890's United States and, primarily,in Canada, as it follows the main character, Ernie Lundy, on his sociopathic life's path. I found the story kept my interest, waiting to see what direction Ernie Lundy would take next. While I think the author did a great job in "showing not telling", I would liked to have seen a little more of the "telling" of Ernie Lundy's inner, personal struggle. Again, a very good book that I would definitely recommend as an enjoyable read.
