True love is challenged by families, disease, and history!
After secretly courting for a year, Caleb proposes, and Sadie joyfully accepts without hesitation.
Everything changes the moment they reveal their engagement to their parents.
Without giving a reason, both families end the engagement and insist that Caleb and Sadie never marry.
The despairing young couple determine it’s not a family feud, but something much more painful.
As Sadie and Caleb discover their families’ shared history, they come to realize their love is hopeless. There is too much pain in the past, too much fear in the present, and too little faith to overcome the obstacles they face.
Will Sadie and Caleb find a way for their love to shine, or will it be shunned to the dark and distant history of their families?
This sweet Amish romance reveals real-world challenges that not only drive families apart but could threaten future generations.
Enjoy this heartfelt story while you learn that what Gott has in store for your future is sometimes greater than you can ever imagine.
This was a detailed, convoluted story, with a satsfying ending. The author handled many difficult topics with grace and skill: genetic diseases, genetic testing, contraception when medically indicated and with guidance from religious law, and adoption. And yet the story is warm and uplifting - not like a legal or ecclesiastical treatise. Impressive. However, the text is riddled with grammatical errors and not-quite-right English usage - Not Amish expressions but English that begs for an editor. Unfortunate.
In spite of their disappointment God knew just how much love Sadie & Caleb had to give to a family. As a reward He blessed them with the ability to bring an end to the horrible disease they both carried the genes to pass on, and to give love to children who otherwise wouldn't have experienced it. And in the process of bringing together this special family, those children were also taught the love and care of God as well.
I loved this story ! It was so full of surprising at ever turn ! This is a very good book ! I hope anyone that hasn't read it will. You may find your self praying with this couple!
It was a very heart wrenching story. Finding true love, just to have your family destroy your dreams. It made me cry, but I knew that God would never deny their future.
