This was a really unique Priest romance. Honestly very surprising!

There is usually only one way for this type of taboo romance to go down. I feel like Angel Anders found a way to make this story very special. It wasn't layered without all the guilt and shame that is often put on it.

Lachlan and Avery both have heavy things in their lives and they both have duties they have just been plugging along with. Avery is in a dead end marriage where she is a rich trophy wife who is just supposed to look good and shut up. Lachlan is the new priest in this parish and he has been plodding along in this calling. Not really sure if he's meant to do it forever, but it is a type of penance at first.

Avery discovers her husband is cheating in basically chapter 1 and then finds herself sitting in mass trying to make her exit plan. There she meets the new priest and she can't help but be drawn to him. Things really start heating up when she is teamed up with him to plan a fundraising gala. The rest, as they say, is history. A Forbidden Relationship beings.

As I mentioned, I really liked how this book didn't follow all the normal tropes for this situation. Yes, it is forbidden, and yes, that element makes it hot and exciting for a time. But I liked that the guilt was kept out of it. Avery is already planning to leave her husband, so the cheating didn't make me blink an eye. For Lachlan, he has his reasons for being a priest and things he wants to atone for, but when he realizes he has feelings for Avery, he is ready to have her, consequences be damned, as they say.

And boy... this was spicy and tasty as heck. We got cute nicknames, role-plays, a bit of blasphemy, rough intimacy and more!

I did end up at a four star though because I think this was a tad too long. There was some suspense elements added in that just felt out of place for me. I wish they were stronger or not at all.. I think there was enough drama with the affair and divorce itself.

I also believe this is a debut book, and hats off to Angel Anders for a banger of a debut

Book Title: Forgive for my sins Author: Angel Anders

Review:  4.5 stars

This novel delves into the lives of two characters, Avery and Father Lachlan, whose paths unexpectedly intertwine, leading to a complex and forbidden attraction.

Avery, a disillusioned trophy wife trapped in a controlling marriage, finds herself drawn to Father Lachlan, a priest grappling with his past and secrets.

The author skillfully portrays the inner turmoil and conflicts faced by both characters as they navigate their feelings for each other while adhering to societal norms and moral boundaries.

The tension and forbidden nature of their relationship add layers of intrigue and emotional depth to the story, keeping readers engrossed until the very end.

The narrative not only explores the complexities of desire and temptation but also delves into themes of self-discovery, redemption, and the search for meaning and connection.

The character development is rich and multifaceted, allowing readers to empathize with the struggles and vulnerabilities of Avery and Father Lachlan.

This book offers a compelling and thought-provoking exploration of forbidden love, moral dilemmas, and the complexities of human relationships. It's a gripping read that keeps readers invested in the characters' journeys and leaves them reflecting on the blurred lines between right and wrong.

I found myself captivated by this book. Its exploration of character development and the portrayal of strength resonated deeply with me. The journey of the characters was not only compelling but also inspiring, leaving a lasting impact.

The author's ability to weave in elements of sensuality and heat added an extra layer of excitement and engagement. It managed to strike a perfect balance between depth of emotion and enthralling romance, making it a truly memorable read.

As a result of this experience, I can proudly say that I have become a devoted fan of Angel Anders and eagerly look forward to future works from this talented author.

Maybe I’m the weirdo but the huge appeal for priest romances for me is all the angst and guilt and pining. Lachlan seems like a guy who threw on an outfit one day and called it a day. Nothing about him screams holy man and he doesn’t seem to think about his faith much at all. Despite his job he just didn’t seem very priestly at all.

Also if you’re still a priest and a Catholic that believes in God, why are you fucking her with a cross? Like you feel no guilt, no shame, it’s just a throwaway thing…? For like 3 paragraphs? Just why.

Also this is just me being nitpicky but I’m not a fan of smut where she refers to his dick as her dick during sex scenes. Like there’s a scene where he says something along the lines of “this pussy is mine, my pussy feels so good” and it’s just an ick of mine.

Lord forgive ME, for I have sinned. I’m over here swooning hard over a dirty-mouthed priest 🤭 This book was so hot, that it could burn a couple churches down.

Forgive Me For My Sins had it all! The banter, the steam and oh my god, the AFTERCARE!! Lachlan has set the bar high for book boyfriends everywhere, this is a MAN that knows how to take care of his woman. The connection between Lachlan and Avery from the beginning of the book all the way to the end was chef’s kiss 🤌🏼 not to mention all those 🥵😶‍🌫️😮‍💨 scenes that can get a girl pregnant 🤭

Gotta give some recognition to my girl, Avery too, she was a baddie, an independent woman! Avery found out her husband (Kevin, we don’t like you at all dude) was cheating on her and she did so many things appropriately, like she was not oblivious, she didn’t take anyone’s sh*t, she was so real and I love her for that.

I can’t believe this is a debut novel, like honestly, I’m so shook! It was nothing short of amazing! Angel Anders is definitely on my list of auto-buy authors and I can’t wait to see what else she comes up with!

I recommend this to anyone who likes:

Father Lachlan has a past. What saved him from himself in the darkest times of his life was joining the church. That is until he locks eyes with a member of the church he joined after moving from Boston to Charleston. The woman he was pulled to is Avery, a trophy wife to a man who is hiding more than just his extracurricular activities with his secretary…on the rug. How dare they, on the RUG?!

Even though Lachlan knows that he should not be tempted by any woman, especially a married one, he can’t stay away. Avery also realized that while seducing a priest should be an absolute no, she can’t help the pull that forming between them.

I really enjoyed the underlying mystery of Lachlan’s past and the almost ‘detective’ element that was given while we were learning about all the things Avery’s husband has done behind her back. For a debut novel for this author, I am excited for more! It totally gets a star JUST for the spice - the quality and elements added to fit the trope, especially that one scene…also if you know, you know!

I absolutely cannot wait for Fisher’s book! 🖤

“You are something else.”
“Is that a good thing?”
“Goldie girl, that’s the best thing.”

4.5 stars!

✨ARC review- all thoughts and opinions are my own!

Lemme just start off by saying- where can I get me a Lachlan? Who knew I would be so attracted to a fictional priest! I’m not a religious person so the religion aspect of this didn’t bother me, although it might to some so make sure you read the triggers!

I enjoyed seeing how they came to be together and the backstories of Avery and Lachlan as to how they got to where they were before they met. The spice was SPICY at some points and I loved Lachlan’s nickname for Avery as well.

Overall, I enjoyed this forbidden romance and enjoyed that it was an easy read! Thank you to the author for the advanced copy!

First thoughts: Avery's husband is a piece of crap.
Second thoughts: Do i need to join the church now? Id quite like a father Lachlan of my own..

This book was hard hitting with such a relatable storyline between Avery and her husband. It was emotional, and damn spicy. Can we just circle back to the Altar Scene... Damn.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and love how our wounded hero was able to heal himself . Sometimes giving into temptation is a beautiful thing.
Would recommend this book!

I rate this a 4.5/5.

I love this story 🥹🥹 it was such an addicting forbidden romance to read and I honestly couldn’t put it down. I needed to know what happened next. The slow burn and tension at the beginning was top tier and I absolutely loved every second of it. 😍 I can’t wait to read more and I’m absolutely honored to have been sent this arc for honest review.

I am not entirely sure what I just read. Was it a thriller? Was it a romance? Add a little mystery and suspense to the SMUT. I am very conflicted. If you are a fan of TABOO books with Haunting Adeline vibes…this book may be for you. If you aren’t, then definitely skip.

The writing was not bad. I even decided to finish so I knew what happened in Lachlan’s past because the author left me intrigued there. I also wanted to know what happened with the outcome of Goldie girl’s divorce. But beyond that I have a hard time reviewing the book or giving a star rating. I think it just was not my cup of tea and that is okay. So for the sake of the author, because this is some people’s choice of reads, I will not rate at all.

i really liked the first half of this book. the buildup and the sexual tension was really great. however, when they started hooking up they would just not stop so it was just smut scenes in almost every chapter after that. don’t get me wrong, i love smutty books but i just wish we got to see more of the plot and less banging.

1/5 🖤 ( darkness )

“She’s married, and I am a fucking humble servant of God or some shit.”

This was a classic forbidden romance that had my toes curling. How Father Lachlan ever thought the Lord above called him to service is BEYOND me lol. This man was far from Holy! He saw Avery and knew he was done for. Honestly, I expected maybe a little more resistance but our man was DEVOTED…just not to his job. This was a very VERY fast paced romance between a Priest and a married woman ( don’t worry you hate the hubs ). Their relationship was forbidden and hot as sin…literally.

“Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. It has been weeks since my last confession, I have been having impure thoughts about the new priest at my church.”

Avery said, I want that man and I’m going to get him! I love how she didn’t let her cheating, gross excuse for a husband deter her from finding her happiness and a man willing to give her it all. Knowing the trials and tribulations their relationship would face only caused a moment of hesitation. Avery and Lachlan knew what they had was something special and didn’t let any person or God stand in between them and happiness.

“Breathe, baby. Relax. You don’t even have all of me in you yet.”

Father Lachlan has a FILTHY MOUTH. His is probably the dirtiest I’ve ever read and I’m here for it. His nasty words had me trying to figure out if I needed to go to confession or pick up more batteries! No if, and, or buts about…I’d get on my knees and pray to Father Lachlan.

This was my first Priest romance and I really loved reading about Avery and Lachlan's relationship. I enjoyed their dynamic and was happy with the ending. I think it taking so long for the reader to learn Lachlan's past threw me off a bit, but definitely kept the novel suspenseful. I really enjoyed this one!

3.5/5 ⭐️
3/5 🌶

Avery is a trophy wife. She never thought life would turn out this way but here she is. Her husband is controlling and, yet, never around.

Father Lachlan moved from Boston to Charleston recently. He is searching for more answers. Father Lachlan chose to become a priest later in life than most do. We see how the ghosts of his past haunts him and yet he won't speak of it.

Their lives both take a drastic change on the day Father Lachlan is introduced to his new congregation. Their eyes meet across the room and there is an instant pull to one another. However, Avery is unaware the man watching her from the shadows is about to be introduced as their new priest.

They both are desperate to spend time with one and see where it goes... but they are doing their best to stay away from one another. After all, she is married and he is a priest.

Soooo... I am torn on this one. I love the characters and feel that they are fairly well developed. Yet,  it also feels like if you've read one taboo/priest romance then you've read them all. There were definitely unique plots in this book but I felt like we were constantly (on every 1-2 pages) being reminded that she is leaving her husband and he is a priest. As a reader, I know who my characters are and can understand bringing it to the forefront often because it is a main plot point. It just felt excessive how we were reminded how their relationship is taboo. By the time I got to around 60% read, I was over being reminded and wanted some true plot building.

I kept at it because in the end it is a good story. I think that there should have been more focus on Avery's separation/looking into her husband's financial situations than there was at 60% of the book. It's definitely a slower pace on plot but medium pace on the spice. Also, the object used in one spicy scene is ridiculously funny and adds nothing to the spice except a laugh. For those who am love horror movies, it made me think of that certain movie and scene and then I had to skip the rest of the scene.

Skip ahead to the last 1/4 of the book and a very tense time is happening with the end of Avery's marriage and Lachlan leaving the church. This is a time they should be talking not getting naked in the same place the church is holding an event after you've gotten more pictures alluding to your relationship that would cause such ripples in the community. Seriously, they're using sex as a distraction from the hard things they're going through. Sex can be healing but shouldn't be used as a replacement for the talking that needs to happen most. Don't get me wrong I read a lot of dark romance but this is hard for me to read. I'm not getting that usual warm and fuzziness about the connection between the MFC and MMC.

Overall, I am a sucker for a gooey, sweet HEA and this has it in spades. There were some aspects of the book that could have been drawn out, some slowed down, and some that just needed expanded on. While I overall, LOVE the plot it just felt that there was too much going on. There are also phrases used during spicy scenes that were repetitive.

Even with all of that said, I would definitely love to read Angel Anders next book to see how she grows as an author and storyteller.

I don’t think having Avery be just my friend is an option anymore. I think I’d like to keep her for myself.

Look, if you know me, you know I love a good taboo/forbidden read. And when a bookish friend releases a book that has a priest falling for his parishioner? I'm all over it.

Now have I read my fair share of this trope, without a doubt. But I did love the unique spin that Angel put on this story with both Father Lachlan and Avery. Avery is an unfulfilled trophy wife who thought she was marrying the man of her dreams, only to realize that she ignored every red flag that showed his true colors. Now she finds herself in a loveless marriage to a narcissist and to add insult to cliche injury, she finds out he's cheating on her with his assistant.

Lachlan is a man running from his past and has found salvation in priesthood. But when he spots Avery for the first time, it shakes the very foundation of him. She becomes temptation personified and when she doesn't shy from admitting her connection to him, she becomes his damnation.

Now the story itself could have used a little bit more polish. But with this being a debut, I didn't dwell on this much. My one quibble is the repetitive nature of the taboo element. When I'm reading a forbidden romance, I want to feel the forbidden elements. But here, the amount of times we get reminded of Lachlan's priesthood did begin to wear on me after a while. I also wished there was more relationship development. While the characters are well developed and multilayered, I couldn't help but feel that their connection was more driven by sex than anything else. The spice was great, but at points of the story it also began to be more of a distraction.

For a debut novel, this was fantastic and I can't wait to see Angel grow into her own because she definitely has a a great start to a series with this book. If you're looking to dip your toe into the forbidden genre but want it a bit lighter, this a great book. If you're looking for a spicy romance with a dirty talking priest, this will definitely hit the spot.

Forgive me for I have sinned, I can’t stop lusting over Father Lachlan 😈. Haha.
Holy wow!!! This is Angel Ander's debut novel and my goodness what a way to start. This was soooo Taboo and forbidden, I sat there eating all deliciousness up. It was inferno hot. 🥵
If your religious, stay away from this book, trust me.
Lachlan has a past that led him to finding salvation at the church. To redeem himself and to be forgiven, he worked hard at church leading to be a priest.
We don't know what exactly happened but he is tormented. So that alone had me gripped to keep reading because, hello? I needed to know.
Poor Avery has just found out her husband is cheating on her. Avery is a victim of being manipulated to end up being a stepford wife and keep face in society. He is a horrible man. She was more upset about her rug than him cheating on her. I was happy to see she was smart and tackled the whole divorce with intelligence. She was also not made for that societal scene. Going to Church to keep appearances up, while being torn was exactly what she needed. Because that's when her fate was sealed.
Gosh the chemistry between these two was so palpable, even I had shivers.
Both are the forbidden fruit trying to do the right thing and be friends. Yeah, they really did try until she confessed and the string snapped and we got the real Lachlan with his dirty mouth saying all sorts of filth no Father should be uttering haha.
I loved the story line, it was good with little bit of suspense about her husband and how both Lachlan and Avery may be more involved than they know.
This was very Spicy and prepare yourself for that Alta scene, it was like ahem *I may be blushing.
I did wanted to know if he told his friends the truth and if they reconciled. Other than that what a fantastic book. My Spicy lovers you will enjoy this. Go be a sinner and enjoy Father Lachlan.

"She’s married, and I am a f*cking humble servant of God or some sh/t."

“Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned.“I have been having impure thoughts about the new priest at my church,”

"I’m not a good man, Avery. I don’t care if I’m not worthy of you. I’m taking you as mine now.”

"He is my salvation, and I am his undoing."

“Come for me. Let me see my new f*cking heaven, Goldie.”

“Breathe, baby. Relax. You don’t even have all of me in you yet.”

“I’m going to love stretching this pu$$y wide. Showing in front of God who it belongs to.”

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

This is the story of Lachlan and Avery. This is a romance story about a woman trying to get a divorce and the new Priest. This is also the authors debut novel. I would not by any means call this a dark romance. It very much has a contemporary romance feel to it. It is however a very taboo romance and at times I really was worried for myself reading this book. Lachlan has moved from Boston to be the newest priest in Charleston, S.C. I am sure this had to be culture shock for him, but he is trying to outrun his past. Avery is a woman who is married but she has caught her scumbag husband checking with his assistant. To make matter worse it was on her brand new rug. Now I say this because it stood out so much that it really cracked me up. I can see myself being so shocked I would be focused on the rug too. Desperate to figure out what to do she goes to church to try to get it together and play her part as the wife she has always been. The trophy wife really if we are cutting to the chase. When she meet Lachlan the thoughts running though her head made me a little uncomfortable. Now this is a me and I don't even want to call it a problem. I just kept thinking about going to church all the time and having a thing for the preacher and I was super uncomfortable. Taboo for sure. But I got over that quickly and on I went. When Lachlan suggest that they work on a upcoming church function the sparks are flying all over the place and Lachlan really does "shed his robe" so to speak. One is looking to divorce and figure out all the shady stuff that has been going on. The other is there for redemption from their past. Together this makes for a very good story and different from any other book you have read that involves a Priest. To be a debut novel it was really really good. I was impressed and will be reading this author again. You wouldn't know it was her debut novel if you didn't know because I told you.

Avery is navigating the wreckage of her marriage after uncovering her husband's betrayal. In the midst of her emotional chaos, she spots a shadowy figure at her church, only to realize it's the new priest, Father Lachlan O'Connell. But he's not the typical holy man she expected; he's a temptation in human form, awakening desires she never knew she had. Despite feeling drawn to each other, they're both tangled in complications: he's bound by his vows, and she's in the process of divorcing her husband. As they team up to organize a church event, the tension between them grows stronger, leading to a moral tug-of-war.

The moral tug-of-war isn't just confined to its characters, I felt like I was tiptoeing on the edge of sin reading it! It is definitely a forbidden romance and a bit taboo. It is incredibly well-written and the back stories of both characters are thorough. I adored Avery's strength and grace while dealing with her husband's infidelity. Father Lachlan is relatable as he grapples with his priesthood. The author does a great job in explaining his background making his doubts more understandable. The dual POV is refreshing and I enjoyed the internal dialogue with both characters. I like the gradual buildup of desire leading to surrender. The spicy scenes were honestly surprising, but in the best way. Father Lachlan is definitely no saint in the bedroom..nor in the church. Honestly some of the scenes made me look over my shoulder to make sure no one else could see what I was reading LOL. There is one scene in particular that involves a cross, and had my jaw on the floor.

I gave 4 stars for this one due to the backstory on Avery's husband falling a little flat for me. I was hoping for something more interesting to come out of that and it felt kind of rushed towards the end. Aside from that, this is a great read and hits all the stops, especially if you enjoy steamy scenes and taboo situations. Also, couldn't have asked for a better ending! Great debut for this author!

I graciously received this as an ARC from Grey's Promotions, thank you for trusting me with this work!

I just wanted to say thank you to the author for giving this opportunity to read this arc.
I’m not a huge fan of books that have the cheating trope, but I feel like this book betrayed so much better than other books do.

I love this book so so much just the characters and the way that they’re like together they’re just so cute and it’s just I want this for me

Quote ~ “You want to know why I’m allowed to give you whatever nickname I want, Goldie girl?” “Yes, Lachlan, why is that?” “Because you’re mine.” He leans in for a gentle kiss on my lips. “Mine to love.” Another kiss. “Mine to cherish.” And another kiss. “Mine to fuck.” This time, a deeper kiss. “Mine to keep safe.” A longer, more consuming kiss this time. “Goldie girl, you’re just fucking mine.”

I loved that Lachlan called Avery,
Goldie
My Goldie
My Goldie girl

All of them are just so cute and I absolutely love it now, on the other hand, Avery called Lachlan.

father Lachlan.
Hunny

This book was spicy. It was scandalous, but it was done, right. I loved the relationship that both of the main characters had together like it was like friendship it was a relationship. There was a lot of tension, which just makes a book so much better because it builds up and then finally it just 🔥🔥It was just like family. If this author decided to make a novella of them, best believe I would be reading them and also if she decides to make any other books in the series, if it is a series, I’m not sure if it is I would totally read this, and I would recommend it to anybody because this book was very good.

~
Quote ~ “Lachlan…” she whispers to me. “Yeah, baby?” “I love you.” I can feel her smile against my chest, and I can’t help but smile too. “And I love you, Avery.”

Forgive me for my sins by Angel Anders

It’s my second time reading something taboo like this with a priest and weirdly enough I liked it. Well the story, because it’s definitely something I wouldn’t do. The author does a great job not making it weird and she walks you through it smoothly. I personally really like taboo stories. I definitely recommend it if you like taboo stories with priest involved and lots of spice. That’s going to make you feel like you’re sinning right through the main character. There’s also cheating involved just incase you’re sensitive to that. Just so you know what to expect incase you pick up this book. The cheating is from a side character and then the main character, but I personally feel like it’s not intense.

Forgive Me For My Sins is the debut novel from @angelandersbooks and I'm excited to see what comes next from her!
This was overall very enjoyable to read. It's not dark, definitely more contemporary, but also very taboo so would appeal to all kinds of romance lovers! It's taboo because our main characters are a priest and parishioner, and there are multiple scenes that as someone who was raised Catholic, I feel like I'll probably go to hell for enjoying it 🥵😂. Let me just say there is one particular church scene....:) Angel does a good job exploring their feelings of whether what they are doing is right or wrong, and how they have open and honest communication about it so there is no miscommunication mishaps. There is also a thread of mystery in the background that our fmc, Avery, tries to solve involving her soon to be ex-husband and that does make for an interesting plot as well.
My only issues are there is a bit of repetitiveness that will occasionally knock you out of the story, and this is more of a personal issue, but the use of present tense. I feel like tense usage is something people have strong feelings about 😂 and I find that present tense comes off kind of like a children's story so it is very hard for me to keep fully immersed in a sexy story. Again, that is a weird personal thing and so should not detract anyone else from reading!
I received an advanced reader copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

In Forgive me for My Sins, Angel Anders introduces readers to Father Lachlan O’Connell and Avery, the married socialite who needs to get out of said marriage.

The blurb says it all, Avery’s husband is a cheat (and more) and she knows she needs to leave him ASAP. As an upstanding member of her community, it isn’t going to be easy, as optics are everything. Avery has what she needs to get out of the marriage unscathed, however there’s more to her soon to be ex that meets the eye. Speaking of eye, while in church one Sunday, Avery notices the handsome new priest definitely has his eyes on her.

So I wasn’t a fan of either of these characters, or the warp speed in which they connect. I didn’t feel any connection between them. They went on and on about the “taboo” aspect of what they were going to do, which made it more mechanical than anything. There was too much “in their head” dialogue for me and not enough actual communication between them. At one point I decided I was more interested in the baggage from his past and what her ex-husband was up to. The rest I could have done without.

The book read a little clunky/formal to me. Avery and Lachlan constantly using each other's name in a casual conversation or god forbid, his nickname for her. I’m not a fan of insta-love or nicknames and found myself skimming to the reveals. The book reads as a stand alone with an epilogue to wrap things up.

Quick Breakdown

Priest x Parishoner
Forbidden Romance
Forced Proximity
Debut Romance
Dual POV
Open Door - Multiple Explicit Scenes

After finding her husband cheating red handed, the veil has been lifted on Avery’s marriage & she’s finally ready to leave him. While at church & plotting her marital escape, she locks eyes with a handsome stranger only to realize he’s her church’s new priest. Running from his past & finding his place in the church, he can’t keep the his temptress Avery out of his head. This only gets worse as they’re paired together to finalize planning the church’s upcoming gala.

I really enjoyed this debut, taboo romance. I loved how it was paced with Avery deciding to leave her husband early in the book, so I had no qualms with the eventual overlapping of the relationships. It’s also had this darker vibe to it without harping to heavily on it, especially the bit of suspense woven into the story. I came into this one knowing it was going to be spicy, but was blown away 🤯 Angel is a queen of writing smut & I absolutely devoured the multiple spicy scenes!

Something that I struggled with were that it had a heavy inner monologue & at times it felt long & repetitive. The romance itself read a little superficial for me, with a lot of the MC’s connection relying heavily on their physical relationship. That said, I enjoyed this for the debut that it was & I’m looking forward to what Angel writes next!

I typically don't like to compare books, however, this book is very reminiscent of Sierra Simone's Priest. Both books have a dangerously hot priest who are tempted by a sinful female. "Forgive me, father, for I have sinned. I have been having impure thoughts about the new priest at my church." Make no mistake, long before Father Lachlan opens his mouth, you know he's going to be a epic dirty talker. Lachlan does and says a lot of things that I can't imagine a priest doing. "You aren't forgiven for your sins, Avery. You're my greedy girl in here. Pushing your perfect tits out for your new priest to pray he gets to worship at their altar." Unlike the novel Priest, Avery is a married woman. Avery might as well be a Stepford wife. Sometimes it just takes one thing to make you realize your whole life was a sham, and how miserable you truly are. When Avery and Father Lachlan's passions ignite 🥵! It could be enough to burn this church and the town down around them. How this book also differs is that there's a lot of crime, mystery, secrets, and suspense. I enjoyed this book. Oh yes, it's very taboo and naughty! Throw in the moral dilemmas these parties are facing. "He is my salvation, and I am his undoing." I think this is a very good debut novel.

I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily left this review.

This is this authors debut novel. I liked it, didn’t love it, but I would read the second book coming in the series. I feel Angel Anders has real potential. I liked the premise of the book, though I didn’t feel it came off as forbidden or taboo as the author maybe intended due to how Lachlan came to be a priest. I had a little bit of a hard time buying into Lachlan’s reasons and his commitment to the priesthood and Avery knew from the beginning she was leaving her scumbag husband.

I do however, love a strong FMC and I got that from Avery with her convictions regarding her husband and life and I loved the commitment between Lachlan and Avery once they decided they were end game.

The spice was good, the dirty talk from Lachlan was above average and I enjoyed him there. Two things that bugged me though was over use of a certain word for breasts and Avery “giggled” a lot in parts I thought could use a different verb given the situation (IMO of course).

There’s some suspense at the end which I liked (love romantic suspense). I would have loved to see more throughout the book or at least more tense scenes given why the suspense happened.

I do think the book was a little long but it kept my interest and I enjoyed it enough to see what else comes from Angel Anders.

Overall rating: 5/5
Smut/Spicy: 4.5/5

I was honestly HONORED to get this ARC because I've always wanted to go down a Priest/Forbidden Relationship trope and I'm so happy that I did. I couldn't put this book down for anything! I cried when Lachlan cried, I smiled when Avery did and I felt like I felt every single emotion in the book that Avery or Lachlan were feeling.

My favorite thing about this book is that I feel like I'm very close to Avery's age and her internal monologue are things that I would normally say as well and it kept me giggling and wanting more!

The tension was SO GOOD. The Smut was soooo spicy and also just enough to not overwhelm the plot. The first spicy scene had me covering my mouth and I knew right then and there that I needed more.

Tropes:
- Forbidden Romance
- Broken Hero
- Reformed Playboy
- Strangers to Lovers
- Opposites Attract

I can't wait for Angel to complete more of her books because I need more!

Favorite quote:
"No matter how wrong or forbidden this is - Lachlan feels like coming home." - Avery Parker
"She's my heaven here on earth." - Lachlan O'Connell.

Angel Anders took me on a delectable journey with the story of Avery and Father Lachlan. This taboo romance set itself apart from other priest romances for me, due to the high character development and because of the amount of well fleshed twists and subplots.

Avery is a socialite housewife who is planning on leaving her cheating husband. Her husband could never give her the time of day and treated her like a trophy on a shelf, only brought out to make him shine. Father Lachlan wasn't always a man of God; he became a priest in his 20s after tragedy struck and he didn't know where to turn. The two cross paths during turbulent times in both of their lives and find friendship and comfort in one another.

This book is a slow burn, but once the spice started, it kept on coming. I love a taboo theme and loved that it wasn't the only focus of the book; the subplots and curve balls that Angel Anders threw to her readers had me wanting to know more as soon as I finished each page. I truly loved these characters and the world that she created.

First off I appreciated the chosen city this book is set in which is Charleston. I felt like I knew exactly where everything was because of my love of the show Southern Charm. It's on my bucket list to visit there and this book just made me want to visit more!

Avery is the rich trophy wife in an unhappy marriage and wants more out of life. I liked her a lot! It just goes to show that you can have a lot of money, beautiful home etc but that doesn't necessarily mean you're happy. I can appreciate her wanting a partner who adores her for her with no judgements because that's what I would want as well.

Now Father Lachlan (love his name) whewwww he was sexy! He too wanted more out of life and felt obligated to stay a priest since it saved his life when he needed it most. I liked how his flaws were shown because sometimes priests/preachers are put on a pedestal like they can do no wrong which isn't true. They're human too and imperfect.

"Not everything is good or evil, right or wrong, black or white. Sometimes, the best decisions are the ones that start in the shadows."

Man this book did not disappoint on the spice level! Had me fanning myself cuz it was hot!

ARC

Father Lachlan and Avery.

I think Lachlan isn't sure where he belongs anymore. I know the church gave him direction for a time when he needed it most. His past has been tucked away until he can face it.

Avery isn't sure what to do with herself. Being a trophy wife to an ahole isn't what she signed up for.
Finding out about what her husband has been up to, was a punch in the stomach. Thankfully she's not a woman who's going to pretend nothing is happening.

When Father Lachlan & Avery come together for a fundraiser the chemistry can't be denied. They are drawn to each other, even knowing neither one should act on their feelings. He is a priest after all & she's married. But, who can deny the passion and the need that is growing between the two?

Don't let that be a reason to not read the book. Once you understand what all is going on and how they end up where they are, you'll be rooting for them.

Was this a bit taboo yes, it was. Did that bother me? Ummm no, no it did not. Am I going to hell? Maybe but I'm okay with that! Definitely has some spice in it!! I'll leave it at that.

This is the debut novel from author Angel Andrews. Trophy wife Avery finds out her husband is cheating. When she attends church the new priest Father Lachlan immediately catches her eye, as she does his. The steam between them is their right from the start, but Avery is married and Lachlan is a priest, theirs is a forbidden relationship.

Father Lachlan's past is a bit of mystery, whilst there's more to Avery's cheating husband than you first think. Avery and Lachlan find themselves working closely together on the church gala and eventually the poison of the forbidden fruit becomes to much and they subcumb to temptation. Unfortunately it became a bit repetative with the constant reminders between them and us the readers that their's is a forbidden love.

We do get some mystery and intrigue learning more about Avery's ex husband and how Lachlan and how he ended up becoming a priest which does add another dimension to the novel and will keep you reading, just wanting to know the answers.
