This is an alternate cover edition for B00M2AOH78

Kip Garrity’s father is the only family or friend he has left. After a viral catastrophe known as “the Outbreak” destroyed human civilization, Kip and his family locked themselves inside their fortified home to protect against a horde of mindless, infected killers that rose from the ashes of the old world.

His mom died first, and now his dad is sick with sepsis. To save his life, Kip must leave his barricaded house for the first time in years and make his way to the abandoned pharmacy across town, which may or may not have the antibiotics his father needs to live.

Thankfully, his dad was a Green Beret and taught Kip everything he knows about combat, weapons, and survival. But even that won’t be enough. The world has changed in ways Kip can’t even imagine. There are others like him out in the ruins, scavenging, hunting, trying to survive amid an overwhelming zombie threat.

One of those survivors is a girl who will turn Kip’s mission inside-out. The other is a psychopathic leader of a gang of raiders, who will force Kip to explore the darkest corners of the human soul, or risk becoming the most terrifying monster humanity has ever known.

I write fantasy, horror and dystopian fiction that focuses on character development and transformation. My heroes are often gifted teens and conflicted men and women battling oppressive forces, banding together to survive, and overcoming personal demons to achieve their goals. My worlds and landscapes are strange, foreign and surreal - sometimes terrifying but always full of adventure.

This story was so well written! Literally the only complaint I have is that it was too short. I didn't feel the chemistry between the h and H.

*I received this kindle book free through a goodreads giveaway*

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. I was expecting some kind of medical thriller based on the title but it turned out to be, in essence, an episode of "The Walking Dead." Not literally but it is a post apocalyptic situation with "infected" (translation: zombies) and as well as human scavengers, etc. No spoilers. I did enjoy the action in this book - and there is a lot of it. That made up for the massive eye roll I gave when I found out it was zombie-related (I suffer from zombie fatigue and now avoid zombies in film, TV and books like the plague). Whenever I read anything that is supernatural, I always test it with "If this were to happen, could it happen like this?" and this passes that test. That means I found it very realistic considering the circumstances. It says something about this book that I am giving it a huge thumbs up even though it is in a genre I am sick of. That says a lot....

⭐️⭐️⭐️

The opening scenes were quite gory, with someone having their fingernails pulled out, which I wasn't expecting.

I didn't always like the writing style. Sometimes the book was told from present tense, then would switch to the past and then the story was told as if was a diary entry or a manuscript.

There was also a break at around 30% where the author decided to advertise a different book. This completely drew me out of the story and happens again at 65%.

There was plenty of action and fighting. I'm glad the Colonel and the other group of slavers got what they deserved.

The ending was ok but the romance between Melanie and Kip seemed forced. They went from stumbling across each other and Kip not remembering her name from high school, to them announcing their love for each other.

While this was an ok read, I don't think I'll read any more books by this author.

If I could give this less than 1 star I would. Zombie books flood the market and it's not hard to make sure you do the research. This author clearly didn't. My first criticism of this book happened on the very first page. Someone in the book has an infection, and it's waved aside as sepsis with the zombie apocalypse already in full swing. Wouldn't the other character already versed in surviving check the other character, anyway? Apparently not. Totally unrealistic to the storyline. I was hoping it would get better from there. It doesn't. The guy takes a gun into a town to get medical supplies after stating he wouldn't use it as it "creates too much noise", first zombie and what happens? Bang goes the gun. No.........just no.

Good story!

Just as billed, survival/horror. I doubt that cannibals would be tolerated for very long. The survivors would not have tolerated them for long. That practice is truly cringe-worthy! Especially when there must be warehouses full of food that doesn't try to run away!
I wish the author had explained as to what caused The Outbreak.
I look forward to future stories exploring various pockets of humanity and how they coped with the breakdown of society.

Kip is a young man who has survived the Outbreak by staying safe inside the family home with his father. All's going as well as it can, well, for a zombie apocalypse, until his dad cuts his leg & develops sepsis. The only chance Kip has to help his dad is to head unto town & see if there are any antibiotics left.

The pacing of the story is perfect, though the ending is a bit rushed. There's a stereotypical baddie that I loved to hate. Solid entry in the zombie apocalypse genre.

A quick and interesting read. A few grammatical errors but not many. I found the story a bit stale though an interesting idea. If there had been more to the characters development, maybe I would have been better. It just seemed to be lacking any substance..told the story without having any buildup or real Tim. The whole book takes place in the space of a day or so.

Great read if you love zombies . Which I do and this story was amazing. Kip went through so much . Leaving his father to find much needed antibiotics. Then running into an old friend who becomes his partner. The story had it all from
Action to some blood and gore and even love. I really enjoyed this book.

It was a nice book to read. I expected more action but it had abit so I can’t complain.
The only thing I didn’t like was the main characters were telling each other how much they loved one another but they only met like a day or 2 before.
The ending I didn’t expect but was nice.
Wasn’t an amazing read but it was good. I enjoyed it. :-)

I quite enjoyed this. There were moments that I was genuinely nervous to keep reading, thinking how is he going to get out of this? But at the same time couldn't put it down! Some nail biting (excuse the pun) scenes!

Defo recommend a great thriller that had action from the very start!

Only marked a star down as the ending felt rushed.

Interesting take on the apocalypse

I really enjoyed this book. Being a zompoc writer myself, I truly enjoyed this authors take on the apocalypse and that this book started years after the outbreak. This was a great read and I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

An interesting short story

An interesting short book. I enjoyed the characters and intrigue. As a retired usmc vet i found a few flaws with the storyline. But it was an interesting book.

Enjoyed This Book

The author did an excellent job of bringing Kip to life. It is a well written story, exciting, and shows the power of love making people stand up against wrongdoing and fight to survive. Very good read!

While I enjoyed this quick read generally, I was disappointed with the character development. I cringed when Kip and Melanie "fell in love" in a span of 1.5 days. This isn't a fairy tale and it certainly isn't real life. But come on.

Excellent read, and a story that actually concluded, most unusual in this genre. Lots of believable detail, really enjoyed it. I usually just give stars and don't bother to write anything, so this was a darn good read.

I enjoyed reading this short zompoc horror story more than I thought I would. There were a few suprises and some gore but nothing really new or outstanding here. The main character Kip was a little unreal but overall not a bad book at all. If you enjoy this type of story give it a go, the author deserves it.

Interesting

I liked the story line and think if the author expanded on it and made it a longer book, it would have been a really good book.
