You cannot escape the reality of tomorrow by evading it today…
Whitney Dahl only wanted one thing—freedom.
Freedom to explore, to travel, to live a life outside the confines of her family's elite inner circle of billionaire business moguls and upper East Coast socialites. Freedom especially from a relationship that was dragging her closer and closer to the life her parents desperately wanted for her—barefoot and pregnant in some billionaire's kitchen.
Whitney did everything she could to keep them off her back. She excelled in her undergrad, graduating valedictorian and president of her sorority. She was the It Girl on campus, a track star, the one everyone wanted to be, or date. But now she's in her first semester of graduate school, and the picture-perfect façade she's built over the last four years comes crumbling down the second a tall, handsome man bumps into her and shatters everything she ever knew about the world and about love.

Rhys Ellis accepted Gatlington University's offer of a one-year tenure without hesitation. Sick of sleeping in tents and digging for artifacts or spending his nights pouring over manuscripts, being a professor for a year sounded almost like a vacation. He was expecting a bit of culture shock.
He wasn't expecting a dark-haired beauty to take his breath away and steal his heart.
There's one problem, though.
She's his student.

I listened to the audiobook of this story. It is narrated by Michelle Thompson who I thought did a really good performance of all the characters in this book. The only thing I thought was a bit odd was Rhys is British but his voice was American in the audiobook. It didn't put me off listening I just felt it would have been better if Rhys had a British accent. This is a forbidden Romance that ends on a cliffhanger so be aware of that. Whitney is a student and the popular girl. The expectations put on her by her family to be the perfect student and the perfect girlfriend to Mr Popular of the campus is very unfair. Yes she has a boyfriend who is very annoying, she doesn't even like him herself and wants to end it with him..But she is expected to marry him after College. Rhys is new coming from England to teach for a year at the college,he is the young hot professor and the talk of the Campus. They meet by bumping into eachother and they don't know they are professor and student and the attraction is instant between them. Then Whitney walks into the lecture room and sees the new professor the man she bumped into and can't stop thinking about...There is no way they can pursue their attraction now.!! Rhys is just as shocked as Whitney to see her as his student and as the weeks go by he still can't get her out of his mind. This is a slow burn between them until Thanksgiving and Christmas is when they cross the line and they spend a week of bliss together but have to end it. I was a litte bit annoyed that they aren't together but didn't realise there is a book 2..so more angst and heartbreak ahead I think. I enjoyed listening to this story by Autimn Gaze and listening to Michelle Thompson narrate the book. I will be listening to book two because I am now invested in this couple and need to know how this relationship will play out. A great listen and engaging story. 5 Stars.
A brilliant student on a path to her masters degree and a one-year tenured professor, taking a break from archaeological dives, literally run into each other in the halls of Gatlington University. Professor Rhys Ellis didn't know what he was expecting, but it was nothing like Whitney Dahl. She is among the elite of the school due to her pedigree within the circle of billionaire moguls, but she fights the confines of a life predetermined by her parents and their life status. She is starting to make decisions based on what she wants, and what she wants is Professor Rhys Ellis. Rhys can't stop thinking about her but can't take that last step because it could mean the end of her educational dreams and his career. I have to admit that I got a little bit annoyed with Rhys and how he fairly invalidated her when he continued to turn her away. This book ends on a cliffhanger and the next part can't get here fast enough! The narration is spot on by Michelle Williams Thompson. Her dynamic voice, varied intonation and inflection gave each character a unique voice and personality. She kept the pace steady and it was a joy to listen to her bring the story to life.
Brilliant narration from Michelle Thompson who brings, the emotions, drama and chemistry to your ears.
Whitney’s family have expectations for her to be the perfect student and the perfect girlfriend of who they are happy with. But the one she has Whitney doesn't even like and wants to end it with him.. Rhys is from England to teach for a year at the college, he is handsome and young and admired by the women. When these two meet outside of campus, neither know that one is a professor and student, one thing the attraction is instant and hot. When Whitney walks into her lecture she and so is Rhys are shocked to find out who each other are. The two of them can’t help or stop the attraction between each and know that they are crossing a deep line. Agreeing that all must stop after Thanksgiving and Christmas and they do, Roll on the next book.
I enjoyed the story line. However, the reading was challenging considering the number of missing or miss-used words. Spell check is not the same as proofreading.
Solid story and well paced; but the editing sucks!!! The incoherent sentences messed up the overall experience for me; yet I still want to read the next book after the cliffhanger!!
