There are times you think you can cope, that you can make it despite the hollow feeling in your chest. Then there are the times when you realize you can’t breathe through the pain of loss.
When Gable Buchanan Carter walks into Athena’s life, it’s like a light is switched on inside her chest. Suddenly she can breathe.
But just as much as she wants him, Gable just as much wants nothing to do with her.
It’s like a cold stab of ice right to the gut at the knowledge that the person you want, that you love, wants nothing to do with you.
At least, that’s what she thinks.
In reality, Gable wants Athena Grace Murphy with every piece of his soul.
But how can he confidently say he’s doing the right thing by bringing her into his life when it’s so dangerous? She’s already lost every person she loves, how can he put her through the possibility of losing one more?
That’s right, he can’t.
So he’ll stay away from her. Even if it kills him.
Lani Lynn Vale is married to the love of her life that she met in high school. She fell in love with him because he was wearing baseball pants. Ten years later they have three perfectly crazy children and a cat named Demon who likes to wake her up at ungodly times in the night. They live in the greatest state in the world, Texas. She writes contemporary and romantic suspense, and has a love for all things romance. You can find Lani in front of her computer writing away in her fictional characters world...that is until her husband and kids demand sustenance in the form of food and drink.
I say it again, I really don’t know which brother I like the most…
Gable and Athena’s story was another hit. Gable fell for Athena from the moment he met her. But he was so much older than her and he knew he wasn’t good enough for her. But he could only stay away for so long…
Athena is hella smart, a bit quirky and she is loyal and fierce and under all that she is a total sweetheart. Athena has been through so much, she lost her sister when she was young, her dad died and then her brother. Her mother is totally overprotective, that she can't even breath… She has had a crush on Gable for a long time, but he hasn’t given her any indication that he wants to be with her. But she’s going to give it a try right, she has to try…
Athena and Gable had awesome chemistry. They were hot together. And Gable was like his brothers, fierce and protective of the woman he was falling in love with. There is so many things happening in this story. Problems with Gable’s undercover job, problems with Athena’s sister’s disappearance. So many things going on, just the way I like a LLV story. Not to mention the Carter family going over and beyond protecting each other 😊
Ohhh, we finally get our hands on Gable and Athena, and what a freaking rollercoaster their journey is.
Athena is the kind of character you can't not love. She doesn't give up on those she loves. She's independent, smart, and fierce. She's loyal to a fault and sweet to the core.
Gable is one of those alpha men who do things in the name of believing it's for the best, but you know it's not, but it comes from a good place, so you're not mad. His avoidance of Athena was hilarious, given that they were inevitable. Age gap be bugged.. this man had the opportunity, took it, and ran a marathon. Or thrust until she felt nothing but him... either way.. it wad a whole moment I lived for. He like the rest of the Carter brood is stubborn but sweet. Fiercely loyal and, at times, intense.
Their chemistry is undeniable, and with each page came more reason to love them together. They were both bull stubborn and frustrating, but they also got under eachothers skin in ways no one else could compete with. I loved the bickering and the banter. I adored the moments of sweet and laughed like crazy at the outrageous shenanigans. Quiads defiled office had me in hysterics.
Of course, we had great side characters that just served all the personalities. A crazy mother who honestly I can't even get into... a stalker. Danger lurking around all corners. A what the ever loving fuck revelation that I'm still not over!!!! And an epilogue that made my soul happy.
What's a girl not to love. Once again, Lani did not fail to have me in my feelings, completely invested in this journey. Now ..... I'm waiting not so patiently for the next!!!
I love these characters and how they interact throughout the series with people from other interconnected books. Great storylines with some interesting twists and turns.
Time to Bounce is the next book in the Carter Brothers series and finally gives us Gable’s story❣️Gable is known to do a lot of undercover work much like his twin brother, Garrett. Gable is very attracted to Athena, Maven’s bestie but stays away from her due to concern that the age gap between them would be a problem for others🙈
Suffice to say, lots happening in this book and in their lives - some of which is downright shocking and I certainly never expected😳 A good read that ended far too quickly. I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review❤️🩹
(Police romance, age gap, forced proximity, female in danger, alpha male)
This is Gable and Athena's story.
Lani Lynn Vale does it AGAIN. AND AGAIN. AND AGAIN.
She writes another freaking amazing police romance book with a delicious alpha male who made me swoon nonstop...even when I was mad at him...and a sassy, sweet and quirky female who I could easily be best friends with.
Gable Carter, the male main character and police officer,...YUM. I don't need to say anything else.
Athena, the main female main character, is quirky, sweet, SO SMART and a bad@ss. She has been through so much. Her sister was kidnapped when she was little and proceeds to lose everyone in her life. Except for the terrible person who is her mom. Her mom is selfish and uses Athena constantly. Luckily she is surrounded by amazing friends and the Carter family. This book is her story. You learn more about what happened to her sister, what her mother is hiding and experience the love that is possible in her own found family. Also, there is delicious tension and blazing hot chemstry...SO GOOD.
I don't know what Lani does to make her stories so incredibly addicting, captivating and interesting but she does it book after book!
You know the phrase "I throw my kindle because of something that happens in a book". Let me tell you this phase is so very true. I now have a crack in my phone screen from throwing it not once but twice while reading this book. Lani Lynn Vale is one of my favorite authors. I love each and every book that I read. She sends you through the emotions with some of her books. I went through every single emotion known to man reading this one. The Carter Brothers hit kind of home with me. All of them are police officers. Everything they deal with in each book I have dealt with regarding the officers I work with. This one made every nightmare come true. Gable works for the Dallas Police Department. He is undercover working as an MC prospect trying to get inside the club to figure out what is going on. The first night he runs into Athena (a dispatcher) is at a bar where he is made to finish his initiation into the Club. Things change between the two of them after this night. But Gable hurts her more than does good because he needs to keep her safe. Athena is a great character. She has gone through so much in her life and is trying to figure out how to live the rest of her life. She is super smart, lovable and plays things close to her heart. But she soon learns that her mother is hiding things from her that will completely turn her life upside down. Gable will do whatever it takes to protect her. There is someone out there that wants Athena but Gable will not let that happen. Things between Gable and Athena will escalate and are spicy. Chemistry between them is hot and yummy. I absolutely love these two together. Here is the part that will have you on the edge of your seat. Something happens to Gable not once but twice. The first time I throw my phone because of something that Gable does to Athena. The second time I throw my phone because something happens to Gable. You are gripped, quickly turning the pages trying to figure out if these two lose each other or end up happy ever after. You hold your breath until you know that everyone is ok. You laugh, you cry, and you love the ending. Another amazing book from the Carter Brothers. I will say that this one is now my favorite even if it did tear my heart out and put it back together.
Obsessed with the Carter brothers! This installment focuses on Gable and his journey to love with Athena. Gable is the brother with the force that has been focusing on undercover work, and through that he finds that someone is after Athena, who is his brother’s wife’s best friend. While he hates the age gap between them, he knows that he has to keep his cover, so he is not blown and risks both his life and Athena’s, but then afterwards he pushes her away in a way that really hurts her rather than helps protect her. I loved that these two ended up together after all the back and forth that they go through throughout the storyline, and that we see not only Gable be protective in a different sense than the rest of the family over her. Can’t wait to see what happens next! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
The sixth book in the Carter Brothers series and my second read from this author and I’m happy to say Rent Free wasn’t a fluke and if anything, Time to Bounce was even better. It’s the story of undercover cop Gable Carter and Athena, the woman who has been lusting after him ever since her bestie married his brother. When they run into each other in a dive bar they end up having to put on an X-rated performance to save his cover which unfortunately also brought Athena to the attention of one the bad guys putting her life in danger but giving Gable the opportunity of putting the personal into protection.
The overall story was well written with a fantastic flow, and I loved the chapter headings that laid out as text messages from the heroine to the hero which added to the vein of humour Lani Lynn Vale has infused throughout this book including Athena’s flight to Japan. Her romance with Gable sizzled from the start and I loved their banter as they went back and forth. It’s just a pity his verbal communication skills were lacking when it came to the important stuff although he more than made up for that with his dirty dancing. As usual the Carter family dynamics were fabulous even though they are the most injury-prone family ever, the time they spend in hospitals, they should have a wing named after them. The only thing that let this book down for me was the whole scenario with Athena’s family which was just too OTT and ridiculous to be believed.
Athena has lost everyone but her horrible mother. But here in her new town, she's found a new circle of friends. She's only had one boyfriend, so isn't experienced, but she knows when she's interested in someone. Too bad that someone doesn't reciprocate her feelings. Too bad Gable can't stand the sight of her, because she knows they could be so good together.
Gable has stayed away from Athena for two reasons: because his undercover work means he's too dangerous to be around, and their age gap is a problem, especially to his friends, who are her friends too. But when that undercover work forces the two of them into something physical, he finds he can't stay away any longer. Not only does he have to protect her, but he wants her in his life, period. Now he just has to protect her from the biggest threat, then they can have the future he never thought he'd have with anyone.
This pair of sort of enemies is awesome! Even when I wanted to smack Gable for being such a bonehead and hurting Athena, even not on purpose, I loved him. Alphahole at times, but ultimately such a sweetheart when he finally got his head on straight. But the real star here is Athena. She's so freaking adorable - quirky, smart af, and so strong, having survived loss and not one, but two horrible family members. There's a whole secondary cast around for support, and I have to say I'm really eager for all their coming stories now. Gable's twin, Garrett, is up next in Yolo, and I'm impatiently waiting for it.
ARC provided by Give Me Books Promotions for an honest review. Ebook also purchased through Amazon.
Well this Carter Brother is the grumpy and grouchy one. Gable is undercover when he sees the last person he expects. She always seems to always be at the wrong place. Trouble follows her. These two are made for each other they just have to figure that out. There is suspense and some crazy stuff going on in this story. More than once I was furious. But in the end this was another fantastic edition to this series.
Great read I will do a review later today i stayed up too later too finish this read i...t was that good 😁 Athena feels like she can finally breath when she meets Gable, but she thinks he wants nothing to do with her.. In reality he fears his life is to dangerous for her ...
I read my first book by her last month and was immediately hooked. Rent Free has stayed Rent Free in my brain ever since. The masterful writing style, taut narrative, action packed and fast paced, she didn't let my attention stray and I like that in my authors. Plus her heroines are kick Ass. I was a goner. So here i am, having just finished my second book. A story about a cop and an emergency dispatcher. They both meet in veiled circumstances in a biker bar and obviously some nefarious, violent activity happens that has repercussions in both their lives. There's chemistry no doubt, sizzling between Gable and Athena from the first encounter. Age gap doesn't diminish the burning flame of desire between them, even a bit.
"Gable Buchanan Carter walks into Athena’s life, it’s like a light is switched on inside her chest."
A stalker in the background forces them in close proximity, providing a fertile environment for the lusty seeds to grow in full fledged love tree. There's something super sexy about a cop hero. We know he's alpha, he's buff, he can protect. And even though she takes care of herself without help, sometimes you need a hug or an embrace and that's exactly what she gets. Plus point, she's asian(Japanese descent) so I love when authors include diversity and representation in books.
“Did you know,” I coughed, tasting blood on my tongue. “That when you die, your brain lives for another seven minutes, replaying its best memories?” “You’ll be in all of those memories.”
But danger is lurking just around the corner, lying in wait to stab their budding relationship. I just loved Athena. She's strong, decisive and survivor. Carter family is all in police business so are around Gable providing support. Athena misses hers but what she finds is far worse. She'd rather not have them, tahn betray her cause they're evil Liars. I'm on a roll and grabbing all her books and binge-reading them. 5 stars for Sleepy girl with busy life Follow me on: Email🌻 Bookbub 🌻 Twitter🌻 Instagram🌻 Blog🌻 Facebook🌻 Amazon 🌻
Omg idk what LLV was on when she was writing this book but is was SPICYYY. Like so so hawt im still blushing. When I read the first couple chapters I was in shock with what was happening but I’m not mad about it.
So we have Gable and Athena. Athena is Mavens best friend and both she and Gable have the hots for each other but neither do anything about it. Gables worried about their age gap and Athena is busy trying to find her long lost sister. But both of their controls break when Athena is at a biker bar that he’s undercover at. In order to patch in as a member of the motorcycle club he has to do one last thing, sleep with any girl they pick at the bar. And of course it’s Athena. This is where it got hot. With Gable being so close to busting these guys he can’t say no and he does it, Athena recognizes him and says it’s ok so they bang and omg omg it was HAWT, a bit disturbing but HOT.
After that Athena realizes he really likes him and tries to ask him in a date but he pushes her away because it was too dangerous to be associated with him at the time. That made Athena hate his guts but once his undercover op is over Gable grovels to get her back.
I just want to mention that these younger Carter boys make some dumb decisions like they are always messing up. At the end of the book during the suspence part Athena almost gets attacked by one of the guys that was in the bad motorcycle club, Gable thankfully stops it but he gets really mad at her for leaving by herself and putting herself in danger. This leads him to messing up big time and telling her to go away. Like these boys don’t get it, they need to listen to their big bros
Overall I really like Gable and Athena both as people and as a couple. The protectiveness is a Carter trait and Gable sure did have it. At the end when he sees her with a cast bc Maven broke Athena’s hand during birth, he did the whole ‘what happened’ and ‘who did this to you’ thing and yeah it was good.
The only thing that was weird was the whole thing with Athena’s missing sister. like Athena dedicated a whole chunk of her life to finding her, she made an app and everything. But when she realizes her mom just manipulated her this whole time she suddenly didn’t care. I just thought it was made into such a big deal and then was never fully addressed.
But besides that it was really good! Can’t wait for the last book but I secretly can because I don’t want this series to be over 😭 4.8/🍫🏘️⚕️🏍️🩻

Genre & Tropes : romance contempo x some suspense plot x insta love / lust x policeman x virgin heroine x age gap

Not my favorite book of the series or even of the author
While I generally liked the series on the Carters, it's not Lani Lynn Vale's series that I preferred (everything that happens in Kilgore was a thousand times better !) and this book left me generally indifferent ...
I didn't like Gable (too hard on Athena), nor Athena (who almost only makes stupid decisions when she's supposed to be super intelligent), nor the plot (which had a lot of potential with Athena's family or the bikers but everything is resolved too quickly and behind the scenes !) and neither the romance (the first scene in the bar ... So surreal and the insta-love / lust afterwards ...)
In short, a romance that is far from having convinced me ! There is only one book left but it is one of those that I am waiting for the most so I hope not to be disappointed =)
Sweet and loving once he got his head out of his ass.
Gable was instantly attracted to Athena as she was to him but he put up his guard since he knew he was too old and had danger surrounding him. Time passes and things change. She brings their attraction to a dangerous point when she knowingly enters a bar and it's filled with menace. She's lucky Gable was there to keep her safe or the outcome of her silly fiasco was not going to be pretty.
Sexy hot public sex scene follows but to me was a bit much considering she is a virgin. Also, the fact she went there like an idiot when in fact she is very smart(brainy not logically, I guess). But he manages to get her out of the situation though she does attract the attention of a "Madman", lol. Of course, we have yet another man getting obsessed with the heroine of the story. This time it seemed more like he wanted payback for Gable 'stealing' her from him at the bar by finishing inside her.
Then the story goes off the rails for a bit, kind of all over the place with her mother, brother, gang-stuff, her vacation, etc. He lets her go on vacation alone for 3 WEEKS. That was just skipped over. Not really a big deal I guess but for me that would be a huge hurt I wouldn't easily get over then he has the gall to get upset when he can't find her. Her friends (his sister-in-law) hide her from him for a short time but he eventually tracks her down. Things proceed from there.
One final note, him duking it out with Madman instead of pulling his gun and arresting him was ludicrous. Just saying! AND, we have another book with a huge recovery period from wounds instead of the bad guy taking the brunt of the injury. Oh well, guess I should be used to LLV's formula by now.
Still this was a great read, lots of interactions with the others in the series but not overwhelming, no huge plot holes, and Athena especially was a unique character we hadn't seen before with LLV.
3 1/2 stars

The Carter Brothers are back with this fast-paced and suspenseful roller coaster ride that I absolutely devoured! The characters are immensely likable with familial interactions that pulled me even further into the story.
While the romance of Athena and Gable is one we've seen before, with all the usual issues surrounding their age-gap, I still enjoyed the battle they undertook with trying to keep away from each other despite being inevitable. Their banter was crackling with lots of sexual tension, a connection full of twists and turns, with lots of back and forth. Gable's got a good heart, frustratingly he doesn't often think before he leaps, but I still found much to endear him to me and have me rooting for him. Athena's the ideal heroine, a feisty and strong-willed younger woman who has emotional baggage courtesy of a family full of pain and loss. These two seemed different from the outside, but their connection was pure perfection.
The overall storyline was full of lots of moving pieces, surprises that shocked me in a good way along with bad. The suspense was heart-pounding with a sensual and sizzling romance that brought out the best in Gable. Alongside him was the rest of the Carter family, always there to support one another while seamlessly bringing Athena into their fold. By the turn of the final page, I'm left satisfied but uncertain about where things go after a few surprising twists that left me gobsmacked. On the whole, this is another winner from Ms. Vale, and I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for the final release in this series!
I recently finished Time to Bounce by Lani Lynn Vale, and I have to say, it was quite the ride! As the sixth book in the Carter Brothers series, it really kept me hooked with its mix of romance, suspense, and family dynamics.
The characters felt incredibly relatable, each navigating their emotional journeys with depth. I loved how Vale infused humor and drama throughout the story, along with some intense love scenes that definitely added to the excitement. The family interactions were a highlight for me; they brought a warmth that made me feel connected to the characters on a deeper level.
One thing I appreciated was the pacing. The plot moved quickly, ensuring there was never a dull moment. I found myself eagerly turning pages, especially with the well-timed twists that kept me guessing. The character development was also impressive; Vale took the time to delve into each character's backstory, which really helped me understand their motivations.
That said, I did feel that some of the multiple plotlines could be a bit overwhelming at times. While I enjoyed the action, there were moments when I wished for a bit more focus on specific character arcs. This slight imbalance kept it from being a perfect five-star read for me.
Overall, Time to Bounce is a fantastic addition to the series. It combines emotional depth with engaging storytelling, making it a must-read for both fans and newcomers. I’m giving it a solid four stars!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
This is the story of Gable and Athena. I was so excited to get this book and immediately dove into it. He fell from her the moment he met her. I love a instalove that feels very real and this one does. However, he is a lot older than she is. He also is of the opinion that he is not good enough for someone like Athena. Athena is quirky and smart as all get out. She also is loyal and loves fiercely. She has known so much loss in her life. She has lost her entire family except for her mother. Death is nothing new to her, sadly. However, all of this has made her mother so overprotective that it is driving her crazy. She needs some space and to be able to live her life out from under the protective wings of her mother. Athena has had a crush on the much older Gable for a very long time. However, he never gives her any signal that he is the least bit interested in her. All she can do is try. And try she will. I loved reading this story. I don't want to give away a thing that happens in this book. I fell so hard for these characters. They are absolutely amazing and you fall for them as they fall for each other. There is a lot going on in this book. Twists and turns you will not see coming. You do not want to miss this book
It's Gable's turn to find his forever in Time to Bounce, and man it was quite the journey that's for sure. Gable does quite a bit of undercover work, and when this story starts, he's been under for a cool minute trying to take down a brutal MC. He's had a secret thing for Athena (Maven's best friend) but isn't willing to do anything about it because he's too worried about the age gap (which had me ready to shake him hard LOL). Athena is a woman on a mission, she's come up with a fantastic app to help kids be found who were kidnapped, and it was all because she lost her sister when she was a child. She's never ever stopped looking despite the fact that her mother won't support it & treats her quite badly. Athena has a things of Gable as well, but he's not very nice to her so she's trying to move on despite it being hard to do. On her search for her sister, she comes into his undercover world and all kinds of chaos with a kicker of sexy ensues. I absolutely LOVE these Carter brothers & the women they fall for as it's an exciting, suspenseful, and sexy journey that I'll never get enough of. Oh, and I can't forget the humor that kept me laughing on top of the twists coming in hot so as far as I'm concerned, EVERYONE NEEDS this series in their lives! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This family is my favorite! It's starting to get bittersweet because this is the next to the last book of the series and I love every single minute of their lives so I'm going to be sad to see them go ... but what a ride each and every book has been! Gable is the brother we've seen the least of previously because of all of his undercover work, but he isn't any less intense and commanding. I loved seeing him give Athena the connection that she so desperately needed to feel like she mattered. The characters are attention grabbing, the plot is easy to follow and well developed and the background of his family surrounding them anytime they need it is super heartwarming. I can't wait for Garrett's story!
Athena will break your heart a little bit, but seeing her heal and prosper with Gable's love surrounding her will make it all go away. She's special and she's one that everyone will be able to see just a smidge of themselves in.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that loves a fast paced, addictive book that has a whole lot of heart, so much angst and heart wrenching love galore!
The chemistry between Gable and Athena is electric, and the way their attraction unfolds—while Gable is undercover in an MC and Athena fearlessly stepping into danger—reminded me of Silas and his first wife. Gable, much like Silas, is unapologetically himself, expecting everyone to either keep up or get left behind, which made me like him even more. His desire to protect Athena pushes him to keep his distance, but that doesn’t stop their connection from deepening.
Athena, who grew up in privilege, saw her life take a drastic turn after her sister's kidnapping during their childhood. With the loss of her father and, more recently, her brother, Athena is now left with a clingy, overbearing mother. Her passion for helping others reunite with their missing loved ones is fueled by her unrelenting hope of finding her sister.
This determination is what pulls Athena into Gable’s undercover world, putting her in the line of fire. These two were fantastic together. Once Gable committed, he was all in, though Athena definitely gave him a few heart-pounding moments. The Carter family is as amazing as ever, and I can’t wait for the final book in the series next month!
Book 6 of this series and it's time to say that this author has no idea how to write a plot. I think she writes with no proper ending in head. She feels the flow and then doesn't care where it goes. So many plotholes. All of her books begin with a plot but then the author does a 180 and changes everything. Here, the kidnapped sister is just completely forgotten. And we learn near the end, that it wasn't a kidnapping. No romance in this book. Plain lust. I love Athena and how she wanted to find her sister since 2 fucking books ago but in this one, she couldn't give a fuck because Gable was hot. What kind of sister...?! And I'm sorry but how is her mother not in jail?! The whole fucking family are cops and they don't think something's wrong with how she dealt with Mary-Beth? Giant plothole: the mother said she got Mary-Beth for the 5 first years and then she had to give her up to her father. When Mary-Beth left she was 12. Fucking hell, it takes 2 seconds to check the facts!
Also the whole series is copaganda and everybody has a gun and is happy to use it. America!
Not a review, but an observation (so if your haven't read the book, this comment won't make much sense). BTW, I LOVE this author & i LOVED this book. The following observation is only me being a nit-picking nit picker.... this is fiction after all!!!
If a patient is at risk for infection or ALREADY HAS an infection, the hospital WON'T likely allow more than one visitor, let alone a very large family (let alone children) into the patient's room. Hell, hospitals typically don't allow children into patient rooms at all, very often, due to the germs, rambunctiousness & noise (could you imagine it Tex actually pulled the tube he wanted to touch, without asking first)? Also, if your in the hospital, the staff will insist on changing all wound dressings so they can monitor for infections, other problems, etc. & wouldn't want other people to change it instead, especially with a room full of people & ESPECIALLY if the patient is currently fighting an infection. Just had to say ALL of that for some reason. LOL But like i said.... it's fiction!!!
Athena Murphy has had a life of loss. All she has left is an overprotective mother that she isn't even sure loves her. She is, however, a genius and has created an app to help find missing persons . . . like her sister who was kidnapped when they were children.
Gable Carter is deep undercover when Athena finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. He’s tried to stay away from her, knowing his job is incredibly dangerous and that he is older than her, but he finally decides he can’t do it anymore, and that’s when their story really begins!
Time to Bounce has so much drama! Gang drama. Stalker drama. Family drama. And, there is so much danger! There is also a new baby, as well as a scene that will require some tissues. And, big surprise, Gable is one heck of a dirty talker and Athena finds out she is kinkier than she thought. In the end, this unconventional couple will get their happy ever after, but it doesn’t come easy, but is definitely worth it! 5 stars!
Lani Lynn Vale delivers another spine-tingling hit with Time to Bounce, the sixth instalment in the Carter Brothers series. This time, we get an intense age-gap romance featuring Gable, a cop with an undercover past, and Athena, a fierce heroine who’s as fiery as she is fearless. Their first encounter in a biker bar sets the stage for a thrilling ride, but as always, Ms Vale infuses the story with her signature twist—nothing is as it seems.
With danger lurking in the form of a relentless stalker and the sizzling chemistry between Gable and Athena, Time to Bounce is packed with suspense, steam, and surprises. Ms Vale’s masterful pacing keeps readers on edge, blending romance with heart-pounding tension that makes this book impossible to put down. If you’re a fan of Vale’s unique blend of passion and peril, this latest addition to the Carter Brothers series won’t disappoint!
This book starts off with a proverbial “bang” and from the get-go I knew we were in for a wild ride. Athena and Gable both work for DPD and while there’s an attraction they’ve somewhat successfully ignored it, until they can’t anymore when Athena’s search for her missing sister puts her in danger. Which in turn potentially puts Gable in danger, but they negotiated it and the sparks are a flying!!
I loved how this story developed, and we are once again dropped into the Carter family and all that goes along with them. There were moments I was snort laughing and others where I was so emotional as the family really brought Athena into their fold. This girl so needs this family especially when some secrets are revealed that had me GASPING out loud!!
Most importantly though is the love that builds between Gable and Athena. They are fire together and take some risky chances when they’re together and I may or may not have chuckled a few times LOL!
As we’re nearing the end of this amazing series, we’re getting to know the players in the upcoming series next year and I can’t wait, cuz it’s going to be SO GOOD, but first it’s Garland’s turn in YOLO!
As all Carter's do, Gable falls hard, fast and completely - but he can't admit it, he denys, avoids and rejects until it is literally life and death. One kiss and any defenses he had are obliterated, but he's a Carter and a man, so he's obviously going to be a dumbass and mess up, but only huge mistakes! No little mistakes for the Carter's! Thankfully Athena knows exactly how to make him sweat as he begs, pleads and takes out shares in apology pastries as he grovels for forgiveness. I love Athena, with her trusty emotional support purse pistol, her brains, her smart mouth, her fight for the lost and defense of the broken....she is amazing! As with every book from Ms Vale it's a very bumpy journey, you will be shocked, outraged, laugh out loud and sob brokenly, but you will love every page.
Athena has endured more loss than anyone should have to and now it is just her and her mother who is determined to stifle her. She has found a home and people to call family through her friendship with Maven however she is uncertain when it comes to the feelings she has for Gable due to the constant push and pull.
Gable may have feelings for Athena however he wants to protect her from everything and everyone and that includes himself. When circumstances unfold that force him to give into his feelings for her there is no going back however the danger is never far away.
You can’t help but love Athena’s character and how she handles everything she has been through and continues to go through. The interactions between them were humorous and hot, the suspense is intriguing and even though Gable made mistakes the love between them was never in question.
