Love the snarky verbal play between these two and then it get real! Loved it!
Loved it! Two strangers forced to marry to end the war between their families. She, the MFC, is mourning the loss of her father. He, the MMC, is mourning the loss of his best friend who died intercepting a bullet meant for him. Her father is responsible for the attempted hit on the MMC. The MMC is the man who ordered her father's death, and she blames him and his family for her father's death and for starting the war.
The MFC is the only sister of the head of the Irish mafia in Ireland; he took over upon their father's death. She's fiesty and a bit of a tomboy having only brothers. Her mouth often gets her in trouble when she's angry or upset. The MMC is the brother (2nd eldest of 4 sons) of the current head of the Italian mafia family in the states. He manages their business interests in England. He's an alpha who likes control. He struggles with guilt over the loss of his friend and hates being in the states letting someone else run his business.
Both have every reason to hate each other, but reluctantly agree to the marriage. She to save her younger cousins from this fate (if not her then one of them), and to keep more from dying. He to end the war, not good for business and he's lost too many friends. Their first meeting just before the wedding doesn't go well. He's rude and her mouth doesn't help. But there's physical attraction like neither has ever felt before, and her mouth has him intrigued.
As attraction grows, so does guilt. Loved the back and forth play between these two. Actions by those who doesn't want the war to end brings them closer, but it also leads to a discovery that documents were stolen with an intent to destroy him which threatens to tear them apart. Their emotions during this time are real and heartfelt.
Lots of steam, romance, great dialogue, lots of action and danger .. all make this an easy and entertaining read. 5 stars.
