Seattle Wave Hockey #1

Blindside Sinner

Rate this book
Bad boy hockey players don’t fall in love.
Especially not with their assistants.
And they ESPECIALLY don’t get them pregnant.

Beckett Daniels is hockey’s hottest bad boy.
He’s also my newest assignment.

A chance encounter with his ex-handler gets me a job I need to pay off the dangerous debts I inherited.
The only catch?
The job involves making sure that Beck keeps out of the tabloids, the nightclubs, and the beds of women he shouldn’t be messing with.

So now, I’m living in his house.
Dealing with his venom, his pranks, his shirtless (and pantless) good mornings.
And doing my best not to let the menace on the ice win our little game of “Who Quits First.”

We signed on the dotted line: don’t touch, don’t kiss, do NOT fall in love.
But some deals are made to be broken.

One night, things go too far, and I’m left to wonder…
Does getting pregnant break the rules?

BLINDSIDE SINNER is the first book in the Seattle Wave Hockey duet. The story continues in Book 2 of the series, BLINDSIDE SAINT.

I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion and review. Blindside Sinner is book #1 in the Seattle Wave Hockey series. This does end on a cliffhanger but both books release on the same day - so you won't have to wait long. This is written in first person, dual POV, and 489 pages - it follows Beckett (Beck) and Sloan. I want to start by saying that I loved this book, but it was a little long, especially since it's broken up into two books. I not only loved the FMC and MMC but I also loved their friends. Poor Sloan, she goes through so much, it's one thing after another but she doesn't let it break her, but she's stubborn and doesn't take any shit, especially from Beck. And I loved Beck! I mean first of all, who doesn't love the d-bag hockey god who fights his feelings? And the spice is nice, when they finally get together of course.

SUMMARY ⬇️
After Beck gets some bad press, the General Manager of the Seattle Wave hire a PR person to "babysit him." However, the PR person is his ex, Vivian, who doesn't want to deal with him. As chance would have it Vivian meets Sloan, where she works as a waitress and hires her on the spot because she seems like a girl who won't take any shit. Sloans job is to make sure Beck stays out of the newspaper, makes it to practice on time and to not fall in love with him. She decides to accept the job because she has some secrets and needs the money.

⚠️You should stop reading here if you don't like spoilers. This is just some of my thoughts/questions about the book as I was reading.

SOME OF MY THOUGHTS/FAVORITE THINGS⬇️
▪️I LOL'd when she woke him up with a blender.
▪️I can't believe she fell for the ritual list.
▪️They hate each other but he still calls her to make her listen to him getting off.
▪️I love it when an MMC goes bareback for the first time with the FMC. The hockey players are always players, so it's nice that the FMC gets a first from them.
▪️I love how confident Sloan is, especially in the dressing room and sending him the pictures. She buys the lingerie and then he rips it off of her.. Gotta love it when they rip off your clothes.
▪️I really, really can't stand Vivian.
▪️The edging, damn... I loved the vibrator idea at the game but where the hell did he store his phone? 🤤
▪️That cliffhanger!!

This was an enemies to lovers sports romance.

This book ends in a cliffhanger. I love the sparring between the two main characters and the slow build to their relationship. The unexpected identity of the mobster was brilliant! Can't wait to read the story's conclusion.

Sloan Reeves is working two jobs to pay off her father's debt to a mobster. While working her diner job she starts talking to an inebriated women at the counter, Vivian St. James, who laments her need to babysit her ex hockey player manchild. Sloan volunteers to do the job after hearing about the pay and perks.

Beckett Daniels is a bad boy hockey player for the Seattle Wave. He is arrogant, entitled and a manwh*re.

They met the morning after Sloan moved into his staff apartment when she had to wake up his hungover behind and remove a bimbo from his bed in order to get him to practice. They immediately clash and he is determined to make her life hell. After talking to Coach Walker and finding out the owner Hank Floyd made his continued place on the team contingent on him having a babysiter/assistant he reluctantly gives in. He does everything in his power to make her quit, but she is emphatic about keeping the job. They eventually come to a truce. Meanwhile Sloan has been receiving anonymous notes which scare her but she keeps them to herself. She fights her attraction to him as long as she can but they become lovers and he is very possessive. At one of his games she is approached by the mobster she is paying off and he gets enraged to see her talking to another man. They argue and she steps back from their relationship. Something happens to her and he leaves a game to find her. The story continues in Blindside Saint.

Blindside Sinner by Mariah Wolfe is a steamy ride through the world of bad boy hockey players and the assistants who are supposed to keep them in line. Beckett Daniels, the hottest bad boy in hockey, becomes the focus of the protagonist's newest assignment.

A chance encounter with Beckett's ex-handler gets her a job she can't refuse, one that involves keeping him out of trouble and away from scandalous headlines. Living in his house, dealing with his pranks and shirtless mornings, she enters a game of "Who Quits First" with the menacing hockey player.

The signed agreement dictates they can't touch, kiss, or fall in love, but as the tension builds, some deals are meant to be broken. When things go too far one night, the protagonist is left questioning if getting pregnant breaks the rules.

Blindside Sinner is the first installment in the Seattle Wave Hockey duet, promising a mix of passion, rules breaking, and the sizzling chemistry between the bad boy of hockey and his assistant. Get ready for a rollercoaster of emotions as love and desire collide on and off the ice. #BlindsideSinner #MariahWolfe #SeattleWaveHockey #HockeyRomance #SteamyRead #BadBoyHockeyPlayer #BookReview #PageTurner #MustRead #ForbiddenLove #SportsRomance #DuetSeries

MMC/FMC- Beck and Sloan
POV- 1st person dual
Genre- Contemporary Romance
Sub Genre- Sports Romance (hockey)
Heat- 🌋🌋🌋🌋 they do the thing and use the P word
Series? Y
Safety? Y
Triggers- Explicit erotic content, extortion, stalking, language, violence
Tropes- Enemies to Lovers, Pucked Up, Workplace Romance, Simply Mad About The Mob, Forbidden Love, Surprise Pregnancy, Forced Proximity.
What I thought - first off, these two books could have- and should have- been edited down into one volume. If you’ve read my reviews before, you know I’m not a fan of duets because I think that most of the time they are a matter of lazy editing. This duet is no exception. Parts of this book dragged and other parts seemed repetitive. There were good basics. The love story is strong and believable, while the zexytime scenes are very hot. The characters are interesting. And this book builds up well to the second book of the duet. I just feel that there was a lot of dead wood here. If I could give half stars, I’d give this one a 3.5 out of 5.

Wow! I absolutely loved Beckett and Sloan.

They are incredible together. It's fantastic how Sloan refuses to fall for Beckett's player attitude and she definitely isn't influenced by his money, his looks, or his pro-hockey fame. She's determined to make her job as his assistant work because that's who she is and she most certainly needs the job.

Sloan's is tenacious about keeping Beckett firmly in his place and on track. If he gets cut from the team, she'll lose her job, her future. This throws Beckett for a total spin because he's always used to getting what he wants from whatever woman he wants.

These two are amazing together. Their teasing and antics are hilarious. The friction between them is hot. The relationship even more enticing as they come together, building a fragile friendship that begins to develop into something stronger. But the issues that threaten them might be enough to crush them.

BLINDSIDE SINNER is the first book in the Seattle Wave Hockey duet. The story continues in Book 2 of the series, BLINDSIDE SAINT. This is the first time I've read Mariah Wolfe. Fantastic!

First things first!!!! Buy book 2: Blindside Saint to immediately follow up reading book 1. It leaves on a huge cliffhanger.
Blindside Sinner was great & I am sure Blindside Saint will be too. It’s fast paced & spicy. Lots of things build up & I can’t wait to find out how it all ends

Seattle Wave hockey & the Final Five are going to be fun to follow! The focus and determination the characters show make it so much fun to read.
Beck & Sloan seem to hate each other from the beginning of their arrangement, but it’s clear there is more to it. There are things that keep getting between them to keep them from each other. Things like Viv, The Bloodhound, a stalker, and Hank- the owner of the Seattle Wave hockey team. Even with everything stacked against them, it’s clear that if they want to be together, there is nothing that could stop these two.

ok, first off this book leaves on a cliff hanger and I hate books that do that. However, this book did keep me entertained and on the edge of my seat throughout the book. I am really looking forward to reading part two in the next book.

Beckett and Sloan are one HOT couple! There is a major love-hate relationship going on and it takes some time for them to fall for each other. It is a slow burn, but with lots of hot encounters, humor, and entertaining events leading up to them becoming a couple.

After Sloan's past comes back to hunt her and Beckett realizes who it is, he will do anything to protect his woman. And that means addressing his past too, even if he doesn't want to.

Who knew these two would have a linking past that just make them stronger and better if they conquer it together.

The characters are great and easy to fall in love with, just not a fan of cliffhangers at the end of books, but there is always an exception.

Mariah Wolfe is a new Author to me and I have not read any previous works of hers but after having read Blindside Sinner and now reading Blindside Saint I feel compelled to voice my extreme frustration with her portrayal of the heroine Sloan in this series. She was written as the most naive, illogical, dare I say, STUPID, character I have had the misfortune to read about in these two books. I actually enjoyed her characterization of the hero Beckett as well as many of the other characters and i definitely enjoyed the sexy scenes but she could have totally revamped Sloan's characterization. Nonetheless, I will read other works by her to see if this continues as a running trend for her heroines. I sincerely hope not! Reading about Sloan's decisions and choices almost made me not finish the series although I was pleased with the HEA.

I couldn't put this book down! I read it in one sitting and even stayed up most of the night. I started this book thinking it was going to be exactly like one of my favorite hockey books because the book gives off major Natasha Madison vibes. It was so much better. Oh was I wrong at right all at the same time. Beck is a strong alpha male whose life revolves around hockey, women and partying. The team is demanding that he have an assistant who will act as his babysitter. Sloan is hired to be his assistant. They hate each other but are extremally attracted to each other. Sloan is working two full time jobs to pay off her dads gambling debit. If you like hockey, hate to love, kidnapping, and surprise baby you will like part one.

From the beginning to the end … I grabbed this in a whim and so glad I did.

I absolutely am here for Sloan …
Her snark
Her take charge can do anything attitude
Her friends … I mean ride or die bestfriends that are always there for her …

I started out disliking Beck … it’s not as if our first glimpse of him was very nice either. But Beck .. oh how he grew on me.

They both have past hurts …
They both have walls….

There’s a contract … that contract helps keep things platonic 😅

There’s chemistry .. some 🔥🥵 chemistry

There’s a LOT … not sure who fell first but man there was an 💥

And that darn ending … I mean … nothing like a heart stopping cliffhanger to end with….

HOLY....

It's been hard to find books that have rendered me completely and literally speechless. Blindside Sinner has a perfect mix of everything; romance, emotions, literally everything.

I could not put this book down. Once I started reading, I had to finish. I could not stop willingly, I had to force myself to take breaks for my sanity. I CANNOT recommend this enough.

The writing and characters are impeccable. This book, so far (I have yet to start book 2 of this series), has been my favorite book of 2024 so far.

Beauty of hockey friendship, Hot sex and Yum game is presented beautifully.

Wow, I was absolutely astounded reading this amazing book, the story was mesmerising and the characters were really sensational. This story was about Sloane and Beckett Daniels, Sloane finds herself in a predicament, she ends up working for a hockey player keeping him on the straight and narrow. Beckett is a famous hockey player that likes to drink, party and being a playboy the more time they spend together the more hotter it becomes until she disappears.

Blindside sinner was a pretty good book. I love a good off-limits romance, but there were some things about the book that got on my nerves. I did love the relationship between Beckett and Sloan, but it annoyed me how she had so many chances to tell Beckett the truth about the bloodhound and she didn't. She would constantly say how she felt bad lying to him but would never tell him the truth even when she was repeatedly asked. There was a lot of spice and romance, and I loved the plot twist that we find out about the bloodhound. This was overall a good book, but I think it could've been done a little better.

This is the first in a new series, and this is Beckett and Sloan’s story.
Beckett is the hot bad boy of hockey, and with Sloan he has met his match, she takes no nonsense from him, and they complement each other perfectly.
This is a well written story which is an enemies / lover’s romance, with intrigue, suspense, palpable chemistry, fake marriage, secret baby, surprises, tension, emotions, and is an entertaining and compelling page turner.

This is the first book that I've read by Mariah Wolfe and I was really impressed with it. This is the first book in a duet and it's a sports romance. I was worried that the book might drag a bit, some duets could easily be fit into one book with the proper editing, but I felt that it worked fine here, I wasn't bored at any point during the book. I will definitely read this author again!

absolutely awful cliffhanger - male lead is an A Hole

I couldn’t get more than 10% into this book before giving up. The male lead is an inconsiderate and selfish A HOLE with no redeeming qualities. If I had noticed it was a cliffhanger I wouldn’t have even started reading it. Why do authors still write them knowing EVERYONE hates cliffhangers?? So unhappy I wasted my time on this.

Beckett is a hot hockey player. Sloan is hired to be his assistant. They seem to rub each other the wrong way but there is also an attraction between them. They are constantly bickering but it's clearly their attraction that is causing it. This book ends in a cliffhanger which is continued in Blindside Saint.

It was a solid hot and steamy read. The pacing of the book and the storyline was good. That dang cliffhanger at the end though…😩

I do have a bone to pick that the book description mentions pregnancy and the pregnancy storyline never really came through in this one. Why include it in the description? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think the 2 books in this series could have been shrunk to 1 good book. I liked it, through the majority of the book but it got a little repetitive and I dont like the bad communication trope, which lasts to well into the 2nd book.
