As far as rejected mates wolf shifter stories go, this book was a decent one. The writing was comfortable and it was easy to get immersed in the drama. There is a big twist to the rejection that worked overall. The fact that it was novella size helped to sell it.

My biggest issue was that the secondary characters make up was a bit shaky. For example, the evil Alpha couple plotted to have (a) have the heroine ostracised by the whole pack for years so that she would be weaken as future Luna of a rival pack, and at the same time (b) his son force bond with the heroine using witchcraft. However, because his son grew up disrespecting the heroine, he rejects her and the Alpha couple are displeased about that. Yet, during the days it took for the real fated mate of the heroine arrives, the Alpha couple make no move to try to have their son bond her. Why?? Their evil 8-year plan felt dumb as a result.

That said, after overlooking these plot flaws, it was still a decent read in the genre. And I liked the author's easy style. Since she has a varied backlist, I think I will read more from her.

This wolf shifter romance gave me fanfiction vibes in the best way.

FMC is mistreated by her pack and rejected by her mate. The MMC comes along, worships her and helps seek revenge on everyone who has wronged her.

I. ate. this. up.

A shorter read at 168 pages, but very satisfying if you’re bloodthirsty like I am.

(…Ok they could have gone a bit further with the revenge, but I guess I understand why the line was drawn there.)

This book's plot had potential but it just fell flat. The villains' motivations and plans made no real sense, and they are also frequently contradictory. No explanations are really given and there is NO (and I mean NO, Zero, Ziltch, Nada) grovel or restitution from her family for abusing her for EIGHT. YEARS.

All the reviews say how this has an epic revenge. But I disagree. There is only a quick death for her fake mate, his parents and her ex bff. Her parents and brother get off scott-free...

Summary:

The book opens with heroine, Serentiy, at 10 years old and she sees her Beta parents conversing with the Alpha from the Blood Rising pack. Turns out, the son and heir, 18yo Tristan identified Serentity as his fated mate, and the Alpha tells her parents to take care of her until Tristan returns for her when she turns 18.
Her parent's behavior quickly changes from that day on - her father calls her a whore and slaps her, her mother stands by and watches it all happen. Everyone else in the pack doesn't care for her either. Her brother was reluctant at first but eventually also becomes hostile and abusive. Her best friend, Kaley, turns on her too, and eventually, she becomes her brother's mate and they both bully her. Worst of all would be the Alpha son, Todd. He also becomes unbearable and abusive. The group of teenagers frequently beat her up, that by the time she turns 18, she is weakened and takes too long to heal. The pack Alpha and his Luna (Todd's parents) don't intervene and treat her cruely.

We're supposed to feel sorry for Serenity for getting treated like dirt, but I was just annoyed. She could have run away, but she stayed there and it took it.

When she finally turns 18, she gets her wolf and discovers Todd is her fated mate. He rejects her, which causes her pain, and mind links her when having sex with OWs, telling her how it would never be her, she's not good enough to be Luna, etc.
(How he can even mindlink her when he's already rejected her AND they never completed the mating bond is weird - and I'll come back to this).

She gets beaten up one more time by Kaley and the Alpha looks afraid for some reason... turns out since she turned 18, her real mate, Tristan, came for her. He smells his mate's blood on Kaley and demands to know whats happening. He tells Serenity she is his mate before she passes out. He threatens the Alpha couple and the Beta couple (her parents) for not protecting her then takes her away to his pack lands.

--Back to my mind linking concern. Todd was able to do it, even though they are fake mates AND haven't complete the bond. So how come Tristan couldn't mindlink with her since she turned 18 and got her wolf? They are true mates. She could have reached out to him and asked for help. Contradictory and never explained.

Tristan explains he knew Serenity was his when he saw her 8 years ago but wanted her to have a childhood. He told her parents how important she was to him and asked them to protect her, which they clearly didn't do. Tristan feels guilty, thinking he should have kept it a secret.

They discover that the Alpha and Luna used hired a witch to make Todd and Serentiy think they are mates. This is where things kinda fall apart because they weren't explained. They hate Serenity but hired someone to make the kids think they are mates? Is it just to stick it to Tristan? Who knows. And if they hated her and just wanted to make her feel like shit again, why were disappointed that Todd rejected her and want him to bite her. Why would they want to claim her? No answers there.

Tristen has his pack witch remove the remainder of the spell and Serenity is able to feel fully her mate bond with Tristan. He introduces her to his pack as his mate and she slowly makes friends in the pack. The girls were jealous and standoffish at first, but see that she is good for their Alpha.
Serenity finally feels like she's safe and has a home.

They have sex (Tristan was saving himself for her, so they are both virgins), and complete the mate bond. And NOW Tristan and Serenity can do the mindlink. Eventually, she gets pregnant.

A few weeks later, the pack has a meeting with others and they come face to face with Serenity's old pack.
Todd found his mate and the couple goes on about how Serentiy wasn't worthy and she deserved rejection. Serentiy tells Todd that she was never his mate, announcing to the crowd they illegally used magic to mess with the sacred bonds from fate= mates. This messes with the packs' reputation, making them look bad. No repercussions though.
Todd taunts Serenity again and Tristan threatens his life if he gets out of turn again. You would think this is where the "epic revenge" I was promised would come in. Tristan would kill them all for abusing Serenity for years, right? Wrong. He lets them all go.

Her parents see her, and they look ashamed and guilty. They say the Alpha gave them a command to know what happened years ago then commanded them to treat her terribly. Her brother and friend weren't given the same Alpha command, but like sheep, they started in on the torment too.
This doesn't make sense either.... They say Serenity was Tristan's weakness and the pack Alpha was what? Showing how he can degrade the future Luna of a rival pack? This was not elaborated on either. The Alpha knew that Tristan would come back for her eventually... how did he think this would play out? And with regard to her parents...how did the Alpha Command last years, how were they unable to tell Serenity at any point what was happening? Why didn't they reach out to Tristan and have him come take her away if they wanted to protect her?

It's all stupid.

Anyway, Serenity hears all this non-answer and feels relieved that "she didn't do anything wrong" and hugs her parents. Hugs. Her. Abusive. Parents. Because it's "not their fault". Haha, okay, sure. Keep deluding yourself.

Eventually, at the Luna ceremony, when a pregnant Serenity is officially made Luna, her old pack comes back to ..... also not clear. Exact revenge? Show their dominance? Take her back? They have no idea what they are doing. Todd says he wants to expose their Luna for the "whore she is" but when Tristan says not to say another word about his mate, Todd shouts, "she's mine!". Well, do you want her or not, buddy? What about your own fated mate?

This is where the reviews for the book rave about an "epic revenge" but it's not epic. AT. ALL. In fact, its is so underwhelming and it's barely classes as revenge.

Todd attacks and Tristan kills him quickly. No torture, nothing drawn out. Out of self defence.
Then, when his parents fight, Tristan kills them quickly too, along with Todd's mate.

Serentity's old bff, Kaley, calls her a bitch and says its all her fault now her parents and brother are dead, and then Serenity's brother steps forward and tells her to shut up. He says she's blaming Serenity when they clearly walked onto rival lands to start a fuss. He rejects her and the rips out her throat. So, she gets an ill-deserved quick death too. Not forced to clean and cook or anything like they made Serenity do.

He apologizes to Serenity for being a coward and let them abuse her for so long. He even admits he didn't have the Alpha Command on him, but did it anyway.

Tristan lets Serenity decide the punishment for her brother and parents. Does she ream them out? Have Tristan at least beat them up? Do they get stripped of their rank? Does she disown them? Kill them? No, she lets them live and go on as normal. Why? Beats me. But it's still not the revenge I was promised.

Tristan names her brother the new Alpha of their pack and he has a responsibility now to lead.

This is supposed to be some kind of redemption, I guess. Sounds more like a reward to me.

Serentiy says she's not ready to forgive just yet, but they will WORK ON IT.

Her family abused her for years. 8 years. And she's so quick to let them back into her life.

She gives birth to a boy, and invites her family over to meet him.

And then thankfully, that's where the book ends.

This is a great shifter story. Serenity belongs to a pack whose Alpha is greedy and evil. Her father is Beta for the pack and she has a good childhood until she is 10. Suddenly everyone hates her and treats her horribly, abusing her both psychologically and physically, and she has no idea why. Most people must obey the Alpha wolf as he has some means of control through the pack mind-links. Serenity is seemingly immune to it, but she obeys anyway, because if she doesn't she is beaten an abused. It's a bit hard to take, although she manages to make herself "small" and make a bit of protection in her mind so she does not lose herself.

Bit of spoiler coming up so stop here if you don't want them. Her Alpha gets a witch to use magic to make a fake "fated mate" bond between her and their son Todd (who hates Serenity). When Serenity turns 18, and her wolf joins her, she thinks that she is fated to be Todd's mate, but he formally rejects her, which is very painful to her, especially when he purposely uses the link between them to make her suffer when he betrays her by sleeping with other she-wolves.

Turns out that Serenity is actually the true fated mate of the heir to Alpha in a rival pack, and Serenity's Alpha thought he could hurt that pack by messing with the magic that makes fated mates. Oops! When Tristan, her true fated mate who has waited 8 years until she grows up and has her wolf, comes for her, he gets seriously angry that she has been treated so poorly. He takes her home to his pack and they are all very good to her, friendly and loving. After that, things don't go well for Serenity's former pack, but things fo very well for Serenity.

In spite of the slightly dark theme, the book was written well, and very exciting. It was lovely to see the sweet and loving way she was treated by Tristan and his family. Serenity finally got what she deserved. And the true bad guys got what they deserved also.

Bonded Beyond Lies is quite a bit darker than Ember Davis’s other shifter books but it stands out because of it!

Serenity endures close to a decade of abuse from a previously supportive pack with close friendships and a loving family, but she is unaware of the reasons behind the abrupt change. It isn’t until she turns 18 and at the age of mating that it becomes painfully obvious, literally. But with the appearance of Tristan, her life changes and her true abilities as the heart of the pack shine through.
I absolutely loved how Serenity rose above her abuse and became a Luna to be reckoned with. And not through violence, fear or intimidation. Honestly, she is way more forgiving than I could have imagined.

Tristan is a very supportive Alpha and shines through by helping Serenity achieve her potential. By waiting for her to grow up and remaining true to her, he shows his commitment to their bond. And by his almost immediate change with her by his side, it shows his pack how right that decision was and how perfect Serenity is as Luna. The Blood Rising pack as a whole outshines Serenity’s previous pack and gives her the family she has dreamt of for years. It more than emphasizes how dysfunctional and weak her old and new Alphas really are.

I loved this next foray into the paranormal world. There were a few grammatical and spelling errors and occasional missing words but I absolutely devoured this book and have already read it twice. And it is one I’ll go back and read again and again. Keep them coming!.

First let me say the author did a great job writing. I love her stories and while this is branching in a whole new direction than most of her books it was a great read. In regards to being well written lol

Now for the story/plot, read the trigger warning, I repeat READ THE TRIGGER WARNING, there are terrible/awful people in this book. Including the Heroines family. They’re beyond toxic and if you’ve ever felt mistreated or neglected by your family it will make this book incredibly hard to read. Even if you take those types of situations personally or have a sympathetic heart there are tough parts to get through. I am going to add small spoilers below so stop here if you don’t want any.




It’s so hard, while Serenity and her family work to repair their relationship after the dust settles, I find my vindictive little heart refuses to forgive their treatment of her and so I would much prefer they be excluded from her life at the end but I understand that it’s better if she heals. Still don’t like it lol they were awful. And I understand that the world building made it so they didn’t have a choice but I feel like they don’t deserve a second chance but they’re also not pushy about it so I guess that’s fine. I’m super bitter about them so I just wanted to add that as a personal opinion and not give too much away.

I wanted to love this book, but sadly, it's only okay. The writing is good, but the story is very much lacking in logic and cohesion. There are a lot of elements that just don't make any sense whatsoever; and the reasons "why" for all the drama in Serenity's original pack are literally left completely unexplained beyond a cope-out generic "they wanted power." But HOW were they going to get power with their plans? Why did they do what they did and how would that have given them "what they wanted?" How did they think they'd get away with it? Why are these alphas all gaining power at like 18-19 years of age? Seriously... there is SO MUCH potential here, but it feels really, really unfinished. I was honestly so frustrated that I almost quit many times, but truthfully the writing is good, and I DID love the story between Serenity and Tristan; if it had just been their story, it would have been a 5-star read, but the drama and mystery and ab*se make zero sense... so, I'm giving it 4 stars because it's well-written and I did like more of it than I didn't, but I wish the writer had taken more time to work out the plot holes; maybe some more diverse beta readers to work out the elements that didn't jive? I'll certainly read other stories by this author because I like how she built the world, but this is disappointing to me.

This book is a part of the Fighting Fate series and focuses on Tristan and Serenity. Serenity spent the first 10 years of her life being loved, cherished, and respected by her pack and her family. That all changes in an instant when a visiting alpha and his son, Tristan, come to visit their pack. Her family and her entire pack turn on her immediately. She endured 8 incredibly long years of mental and physical abuse by the people who were supposed to love and support her. When she turns 18, she is rejected by who she thought was her ‘fated mate’. That is until Tristan comes back to finally claim his true fated mate. He sees her and immediately knows that she has been abused for years. I absolutely loved how fiercely devoted Tristan had been to Serenity since he found out she was his mate 8 years prior. He loved and supported Serenity at every turn. I loved how she blossomed into exactly who she was always meant to be. She finally found the family and the pack she truly belonged to. I cannot say enough how wonderful Tristan and Serenity were together. This was a great story and a great addition to the series.

A soul forged in fire and betrayal

Serenity is amazing, she is stronger than anyone expects, sweeter than everyone believes and so full of love despite the abuse, trauma, hate and vitriol she has lived with for years. She is the perfect Luna as she doesn't expect respect without giving it first, she treats everyone as an equal and values every member of the pack, no matter their status or position.
In turn Tristan is the perfect Alpha for her, he has waited for Serenity, rescued her, defended her and worshiped her. He doesn't rush her or pressure her....he just loves her with every part of his soul and will show her everyday for forever.
This very spicy book is filled with smoke and mirrors, betrayals, greed, crazy Alphas who mess with fate and fights to the death, but it is also packed with love, family values, shifter law, respect, forgiveness and a gorgeous HEA.
I loved this shifter romance and look forward to Crews book which is out next year. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

I recommend reading this book by an extraordinary author who knows how to captivate her readers' hearts and attention with being bonded beyond lies and a paranormal romance that is sure to have readers on an exhilarating roller coaster ride that is unforgettable.

Poor Serenity is all I can think of when I started reading this book. She was in such a good place at the beginning of the book, and then everything changed!!! The entire pack started treating her like trash which is absolutely horrifying considering all the abuse she endured for 8 long years. Then, to have the Alpha of the Blood Rising Pack show up and declare himself her mate…… Talk about a plot twist. This is an epic love story between Tristan and Serenity, two wolves who come together because the goddess decreed so even when Serenity was underage and had no clue as to what Tristan was experiencing after meeting his ten year old mate when he was eighteen years old!! The twists in this book keep you on the edge of your seat. I absolutely love and recommend this book to people who enjoy reading about fated shifter mates and their HEA’s!!!!.

Bonded Beyond Lies is a steamy, shifter, fated mates, paranormal romance. Serenity is a member of the Waning Moon pack. When she is 10, something happens, and she is no longer accepted by the pack, but rather abused and bullied for the next 8 years, even by her own family. On her 18th birthday, she hopes to find her fated mate only to be brutally rejected. What caused her pack to turn on her? Will she find love? I don't want to give away spoliers as it is so good, but know that the steam is high and we do get a happy ending after a lot of drama. It reads fast with a lot of twists and turns. I really enjoyed the story and can't wait to read Crew's story!!.

Who is her true fated mate?

Bonded Beyond Lies by Ember Davis is part of the multi-author Fighting Fate series. This is a different kind of shifter romance story and it has elements that I have not read before which intrigued me. But I will mention that there are a few characters that I wanted to kick butt on, as they bullied the FMC, Serenity, more than what I found to be acceptable. I loved when the MMC, Tristan, finally comes to Serenity and her world starts to look up. I will say that Ember Davis has written a story which has a number of different PNR elements interwoven, along with the romance. But be warned about the possible triggers, as it took me by surprise as to the extent of the bulling and abuse.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. This book will take you on a roller coaster of emotions. The struggles that Serenity suffers thru are horrible but she's a strong Luna who never gives up. I wanted Tristan to show up and save her over and over. When he finally arrives, and sees his mates suffering, I wanted him to take down all of her enemies with vengeance immediately. I liked how Ember ended up working that out, but still felt so much heartbreak for Serenity, that I wanted revenge myself. She and Tristan find their happiness but I did want more time with them as a couple. Overall this book brought out a lot of emotions, has plenty of drama and heartache but shines thru with the beginnings of a new life for Serenity. I enjoyed their story

I love a good paranormal shifter romance this one is so good. Once I started it I could not stop. It took me from the deepest despair to the highest of hope. For the last 8 years Serenity has been beaten and abused by her pack. When she is rejected by her ‘fated mate’ she’s not sure she can survive it. But when Tristan from the Blood Rising Pack comes to claim her as his fated mate some truths will finally come out. I loved this story, it’s sweet once you’re past the abuse and steamy hot with a great HEA. I love it when the bad guys get theirs. Great shifter romance.

I loved Bonded Beyond Lies: Fighting Fate. M a huge Ember Davis fan and I loved this new direction. Serenity has been abused by her family and her pack for the last 8 years. Tristan knew she was his mate but he had ti wait until she was 18. Finding her being beaten and abused has left him angry. Bringing her home with him shows her a new world and how she should be treated. He will make her former pack pay for her mistreatment and abuse. I loved this storyline and the characters. This is a different story for Ember Davis but I loved it and I can’t wait for more. I would definitely recommend this book.

This story took me on quite the roller coaster of a reading ride. Serenity, a wolf shifter, has a loving family and pack until she didn't. Then she had 8 years of all kinds of abuse... Very dark place for her but she managed to survive until Tristan, her fated mate arrived. He knew she was his mate but had to wait for her to come of age (18) before they could bond. He's waited for her and is beyond furious over her treatment. She, however, evolved into a fabulous Luna and together, they get their smoking hot HEA. Of course, it brings me joy to know that the bad guys got their comeuppance ;P Expect a dark, sweet and steamy read when you dive into this exciting story :D

Wow!! This was a wonderfully written, surprise of a story. Serenity is a wolf shifter who has endured abuse both physically and mentally from her pack since she was 10 years old. She has no idea why. On her 18th birthday things take an unexpected turn when she is rejected by who she thinks is her fated mate. When Tristan, another packs alpha, arrives a week later life takes an unexpected turn! Hot, steamy romance with amazing chemistry, true love, secrets, lies, misunderstandings, danger, suspense, a wonderful, loving, protective hero and a beautiful HEA.

This is book 3 Fighting Fate starring Serenity and Tristan. WOW this one is full of heartbreaking times for poor Serenity, but as that song what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger goes Serenity is a fighter and finds her mate that will bring her hope and love. I loved the way Serenity finds the will to live and never gives in to the pack and the monsters that hurt her. I hated how her life kept turning out with more hurt but this story does turn for the best in the end. I loved how bonds that are bent can reshape into better bonds. I cannot wait to see what the next book holds.

Never fear - this an Ember Davis story and she will reward us in the end, but take the trigger warnings to heart. The first quarter of this story is heart-breaking in the descriptions of the abuse and repeated trauma. But, if you can get through that, then you are rewarded with a beautiful love story. Tristan and Serenity love is powerful enough to withstand any and all attacks! Enchanted! That is totally how this book made me feel! Once I started, I couldn’t stop. I didn’t want to talk to anyone or do anything other than read Tristan and Serenity’s story. It was so powerful and emotional, it totally brought me to tears early on. I love their happily ever after! Serenity deserves everything good and beautiful in her life. As far as I’m concerned, Ember Davis can write anything and it’s always amazing. ❤️.

Serenity grew up as a much loved daughter of the pack beta until everything changed at ten years old. She was hated by the whole pack, even her family treated her badly. She could never figure out what happened, what changed? When she turns eighteen the Alpha's son rejected her as his mate, she is filled with pain.

Serenity has been thru such abuse but she does not give up. She is stronger than most of her pack. The story starts really dark and ends well for Serenity, she get her happily ever after.

Serenity has been abused by her pack and her family so finding her true fated mate changes everything for her. Serenity and Tristan's fated mate's journey of love is filled with pain, pack drama, rejected mates, steam, and a sweet instalove, shifter romance that had me cheering them on to get their happily ever after. Bonded Beyond Lies is a great addition to the multi-author Fighting Fate series and I look forward to reading the rest of the paranormal, fated mates series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

There is something special about Serenity, the day Tristan and his father visit her pack was the day it changed her life.

Tristan realized Serenity is his mate, but also realized he would have to wait for eight years before he can make her his.

Serenity and Tristan's story is a passionate story that is laced with danger, lies and deception as the truth comes out, they become strong together than apart.

Great read that pulls you in from the start and I did not want to put it down.

Such an amazing book!!!

I have read several books by Ember Davis. But I have to say this one might be my favorite. A story of bullying, betrayal, physical, verbal and mental abuse, to finding love, happiness, protection, empowerment, a whole can of FAFO to the best HEA. No spoilers from me. You HAVE to read the book. Be warned there are triggers. But if you can get passed them you'll find and amazing story about perseverance and never ending love between Blood Rising packs Alpha Tristan and his Luna Serenity. So worthy of 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Everything changed for Serenity when she was a young girl. She locked eyes with a visiting alpha's son. After that, she was beaten, ridiculed, ignored, called terrible things even by her parents and brother. The alpha of her pack ignored everything and even beat her himself. So did his son. What on earth happened on that day she never knew. Then she turned eighteen and everything changed again. But was it for the better? What an absolutely fantastic story.

This was sooooooo amazing! If you are always on the lookout for a gripping, angsty rejected mates story, this is for you!! My heart broke for Serenity, all the pain and betrayal she experienced was torture. Tristan was the alpha to end all alphas. He was a truly amazing leader, his power and loyalty show how perfect he is for his Luna. Such perfection from start to finish, I cannot recommend this romance enough!!

This was a fantastic fated mates romance. It was a well written story with a great pace. It really surprised me in the best possible way because in the beginning I kind of thought I knew where it was going and then it didn’t go at all that way. I loved Serenity, she was such a strong character and she really deserved her HEA.

This is dark at the start as is stated in the book blurb. But it goes on for quiet a bit, and repeats information about the abuse and torment. Rehashing over different times her family let her down this and the alpha and luna are supposed to protect. Longer than is needed to get a point across.

But then her story turns and things are destined to get better. I loved Tristan and Mack in it.
