The peace of the magical Faerieground is being threatened by war, and no one is sure who is on which side. Is Soli becoming a Crow? Where have Lucy and Kheelan been? With friendships at stake and the kingdom in turmoil, will the good faeries prevail over the evil of the Crows?
Beth Bracken is a children's book editor. She lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with her husband, Steve, and their son, Sam. When she's not reading, writing, or editing books, Beth spends most of her time knitting endlessly while watching reruns of old TV shows and drinking lots of tea.
Eleventh in the Faerieground series. This high-interest/low-vocabulary novel continues the story of Soli and her true love Kheelan. As the Crow and the rest of the faerie realm prepare to go to war, the Crows to take over the entire kingdom, the rest of faerie to rescue Queen Soli, Soli learns more about her secret ally. She also learns of a strong connection between Caro, the Crow princess, and Lucy, her best friend in the human realm. Soli does not want anyone to die in battle over her freedom, but things are way beyond her control. As the two armies meet, the Crow king informs Soli that she and his daughter Caro will fight on the front line. Action packed with an intriguing story line in an easy to read format, complimented by whimsical mixed media art, these novels will be a big hit with reluctant readers and anyone who loves a good faerie tale.
3.5 🌟 Stars! This is the 11th book in the Faerieground Series. This series has been a consistent easy read for reluctant readers. Full of beautiful illustrations and simple wording. Very fast paced read great for keeping reluctant readers engaged with its simple vocabulary.
The Faerieground series is very popular with many of the students in our school, girls and boys alike. To fully understand the story of this book you have to read the books previous. The faerie kingdom has been divided into fractions. This book tells more about the human woman who have played a part in the separation and may help to bring the kingdom back together. A war begins in this book between the Crows and the Faeries. There is only mild violence and some suspense. The reader will have to read book 12 to find out how things turn out. Though each book assumes the reader has read the previous books, the story is interesting and intriguing.
Book number 11 in the Faerieground series finds the heroes on their way to do battle with the Crows in order to rescue Soli. The battle begins poorly for the Faeries and we are left as they begin their retreat.
I did not particularly enjoy this book, but very young beginning readers might enjoy the simple plot and pictures.
