When a blood thirsty draugr terrorized his village, Reinn Gunnarson had no choice but to gather some men and follow the creature to its lair knowing they would never return. Mortally wounded, Reinn awoke to find the gods had cursed him to the same fate as the evil he had fought so hard to destroy – a draugr. He isolated himself inside the creature’s castle away from humans. This had worked well for over 1000 years until one rainy night when Kylee Shanon, a stubborn, foul mouthed woman knocked on his door looking for help, unaware of the danger within.
After escaping Raith Macrae and his team in San Francisco, Christopher Collins set up shop in a new location in Europe. A mistake by his men led to the discovery of a legendary draugr. Collins had heard the stories of how draugrs were hunted to extinction by the Díon because it was too dangerous to allow even one to exist; but if he could control it, he could use it to kill Raith and bring Mari Lucas back to his side where she belonged.
When Reinn is forced to carry out Collins’s plan, a twist of fate gives Raith the chance to catch Collins while keeping Mari and his team safe. To do this; he will have to trust Reinn, a draugr. The type of creature Raith had been created to kill.
After writing poems and short stories for a number of years, I finally got brave and wrote a book which is the first of a series. It's a paranormal romance called Where Will You Run? I live with my amazing husband, 2 crazy kids, my dad, two dogs and the rest of the Franco zoo.
When I read “Where Will You Run?” several months ago I could not wait to see how M.E. Franco would continue Mari’s story. Mari had some heartaches, discoveries and ended up HEA, but did she? I was excited to learn recently that M.E. announced Where Will You Hide? will be scheduled for release soon. In the new installment of the Dion Series we find Mari learning a few new skills to deal with her new reality, while lamenting over recent misadventures that led her to her current state of being. She finds she is still basically the same old Mari but now she’s living with the love of her life. Tensions remain high due to her need to be in constant control. Mari wants justice for her sister’s death. The need for justice is overshadowed by her consuming desire for retaliation causing the love of her life to question her ability to play as a team member for the Dion. Mari learns that her ideals aren’t something that changes even though her world has turned upside down, and it puts a strain on her relationship. She wants to do the right thing, but is her idea of the right actions to take going to help or hinder the team and her love? This book has us leaving the original book setting of San Francisco and traveling to exciting new locales throughout the world. We are introduced to new characters and beings that will have you hanging on the edge of your seat. One such character, Kylee, spices things up with her adventurous spirit and her ability to leave not only other characters speechless, but the reader as well. Reinn is another character who will take your breath away not only in actions but his presence, or well maybe lack there off. As in the first book, M.E. has created characters that are vivid and seem to spring off the pages into life. The plot for The Dion as well as Mari’s life thickens as new antagonists are revealed that will continue into the third installment. M.E.’s style of leading you to a ledge and feeling like you are about to jump off then picking up another characters story line is well timed and carefully plotted. I enjoy her weaving so many characters lives together and painting a final scene that everyone will not soon forget. Kudos M.E. on another success!
Exciting, intriguing, suspenseful! I hated when I had to put this book down! It was a non-stop, heart-pounding, un-putdownable page turner! It has to be said, Reinn is Ahhh-mazing!!! I LOVE him!!! The romance involving him was sensual and well written. The action throughout the story was INTENSE! What a great sequel to the Dion series. I can't WAIT for the third installment! Please hurry M. E. Franco, don't keep me waiting a whole year! :) Buy this book. It's great. :)
Well, after reading “Where Will You Run?” I was excited to read book 2, “Where Will You Hide?” in the “Dion” series. Once again the novel’s a worthwhile and enjoyable read that’s full of suspense, action, and romance. There was some humour but not as much as the first novel. I liked the story and all the characters, except I was a little disappointed with what happened to one of them. I did like Reinn. In fact, I thought he was awesome and I loved his story. I just wished there was more of him. As for his love interest, Kylee, I wasn’t a huge fan of hers. Seriously, who goes out walking in the dead of night (I’m talking 3:30 am) in a strange town, in a whole different country that you’re touring on your own? And talk about forward. I’m shocked she didn’t rip off her clothes in front of Reinn and attack him when she just met him for the first time. I know, I know, it’s a work of fiction, but I did mention I’m not a fan of hers, plus she just rubbed me the wrong way. As for Raith and Mari, they are definitely present. I was a little disappointed with respect to their relationship. Though they make a terrific couple, it didn’t feel like it had moved forward; it felt the same, repetitive. Raith would get upset with her, she’d say something to appease him, and they’d have sex. In fact, I didn’t feel that Mari had grown or changed her ways considering her entire life had drastically changed - you know, from human to vampire. She doesn’t know how to react when something threatening and unexpectedly pops up; and she’s always doing things on her own forgetting that she’s part of a team, thereby jeopardizing the mission and the lives of every team member. The only time she remembers she’s a team player is when Raith tells her to disappear (basically follow his instructions), which she in turn fights it tooth and nail. Which is it Mari?? I still like her, but I just wish she’d use her brains considering she’s trying to prove her worth as a member of the Dion team.
I was really surprised at how short this novel was. I read the Kindle version which lists it being 266 pages. I’m sorry but it’s not 266 pages. In fact, I’d be surprised if it was half that. The first novel is listed as being 244 pages and that one was much longer than this one. Perhaps Amazon or whoever listed the novels mistakenly entered the number of pages incorrectly. No matter, this novel still turned out to be very short (in my opinion); it just felt like everything was rushed.
Do I still recommend it? Yep, I do. It’s still a good story that I found enjoyable. I’m just wondering how long I’ll have to wait for the next book in the series.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
So how was the second installment? Well, in a word... fabulous! In this second book, we get to see our team of ragtag monsters still on the hunt for Collins. Mari and Raith are just as hot as before and we get to meet a new couple, Reinn and Kylee.
The characters are just how I remembered them. Witty, fun, and full of excitement. Miss Franco made me laugh out loud more than once. I absolutely love these guys. This story is filled with tension, humor, and suspense. Seriously. I loved this one even more than the first one. (Reinn might have had something to do with it... sorry, Raith)
So do I recommend this book? Definitely. What did I rate it? Five stars of course. And with the wrench that got thrown in at the end, I can't wait for the third novel to come out so I can see what happens!
Cool Part:
Kylee watched as they approached her. She didn’t have the strength to protest as she saw the one who bit her take out a knife. The other man took her bag.
“Sorry Sweetheart. Guess this just isn’t your lucky day.”
Kylee closed her eyes not wanting to watch, but the pain didn’t come. Instead, she heard a sickening thud and felt a warm mist cover her face. She opened her eyes. Through the sparkles and fog of her blood deprived brain she saw a larger man literally ripping the other two men apart. Body parts and blood surrounded her, but she was too lethargic to react. She heard the van take off. Her savior watched the van leave and paused briefly as if considering giving chase.
The last few minutes caught up to her and she wondered what kind of creature could do so much damage to those monsters. How much more dangerous would it be?
Raith and his team hunt draugers, draugers are known to be the worst of the evil, they kill humans and all others creatures. They turn on you in a second, their not to be trusted. Raith found Aran dying from being attacked by a drauger. Aran told Raith how his uncle died trying to save him and other children that were kidnapped by one. The drauger put a whole through Reinns chest and Aran threw the torch at her and Reinn cut her head off. Reinn thought he was dying and told his nephew to run to safety with the other children. When he awoke he finds he's one of them, he hides out in the creatures castle away from everyone for centuries, while his nephew thought him dead. Aran fought to kill every last drauger, he was a great fit with Raiths group, so he turned him into a vampire. Kylee went to Scotland to go on a trip her and her grandmother were to take together. Kaylee grandma died before they got the chance, her grandma left her money to go and she decided that's what she'd do. She was searching for her relatives town in Scotland when she got lost in the pouring rain. She was in a country she didn't know in the pouring rain, freezing and lost. Kaylee sees a light and walks up the hill towards it to ask for directions. She couldn't believe it was a castle. A huge man answers the door and Kaylee was stunned by his manners. Really can't say much more, except download this book and the one before this. The author sure knows how to tell a story, her characters are strong and I loved the series. This second book was phenomenal, not taking away from the first that started this awesome story. I can't wait for more. You will fall in love with the characters.
Where Will You Hide? is another awesome installment in a great UF series. Once again the writing was smooth and very well done. The world building continues to expand and ongoing development of old and new characters is a treat to read. The synopsis / description gives a good overview of the new characters and I cannot improve on it and will not try. The book begins with Reinn's beautifully written, heart wrenching history and proceeds on to introduce us to Kylee. At first I was a bit disappointed because I was looking forward to more from Raith and Mari, as they are my favorite characters, and I thought perhaps this was going to be an installment in the same world with different characters, but as the story progressed I got my wish and what a happy girl was I. Where Will You Hide? has lots of bad guys you love to hate, as well as new and old good guys I could not get enough of with plenty of action to satisfy my UF addiction. Definitely recommend this series and I cannot wait for more. I received this book from the author with a request for my honest review without any compensation whatsoever, other than the joy of reading a new book.
Where Will You Hide? is a fantastic fast-paced paranormal romance that will keep you totally captivated. I started reading it and couldn’t put it down until I read the entire book. This action-packed novel will have you on the edge of your seat as it takes you through the many twists and turns in this original take of the vampire world. The characters are well-developed and draw you into their dark realm as they battle the tribulations they must face.
M.E. Franco does a superb job of weaving her tale of vampires and things that go bump in the night. She continues to demonstrate her talent for writing with this second story of the Dion with Raith and Mari. Her integration of the human, Kylee, and the draugr, Reinn, constitutes a very fascinating story that you don’t want to end.
I loved her first novel Where Will You Run? and could hardly wait for the second book in the series. But I must say M.E. outdid herself with Where Will You Hide? This is an awesome read and definitely one that you don’t want to miss.
