A young adult paranormal romance. Suitable for teen audiences. **Contains one sex scene.
A dark force has descended in an age where people are no longer alone. The glitterati of the Gold Coast has vanished, and along with it, the sun and surf that was once synonymous with the tourist hot spot. Instead, a new species walks among the humans, terrorizing and pillaging their way along the dark and fog-ridden coast line. They move undetectable but for a simple marking, and it’s this marking that Aiyana sees one day as she walks through the dark city. Curiosity and an intense desire to see the brooding stranger again lead her to a young man whose future is inexplicably woven with hers – a destiny preordained by a curse spelled by her grandmother decades before. As Aiyana explores a new romance, she has to question the true intentions of this stranger. Does she hold the key to helping him? Would she be willing to do so at any cost?
It wasn't bad but it was not that good. It was different. At first you meet a woman who seems independent, stubborn and who stand her ground. And then a raven sweep by and she becomes cheesy af. I don't know if it qualify as naivety or that she stayed so much on her own that at her age she doesn't have a clue what love is, and the difference between being wild and being reckless.
Why, oh why had she been such an idiot?
And her kidnapping was ridiculous, she says no one ever comes at her house, except for Eilam which was through the balcony so it was not wise for her to make sure to be more careful before opening the front door like she's welcoming guests. The world is in chaos but she refused rides to her home and would go home walking. I am a tomboy too but that doesn't mean being reckless to your safety, we are stubborn of our independence and our choices, we have people who tells us what to do for THEIR benefits. I won't say she must be perfect but it was to a point that she acted like a 16 years old who has a crush and threw tantrums because the guy told her to leave or when she went to talk to Harmony, she did not let her finish but yelled a big NO and we did not get more answers.
The woman we saw at first might let us to get an impression of a strong woman but then love struck her, then she whines. Even took a lot to convince her to choose humanity over her love. Damn! The male protagonist was cheesy too, especially at the end, it would have been cool if he just got the white hair, but wings again. So, he'll be the only one with wings then. LOL
The plot was okay, the writing style was too, lots of details about the surroundings not much on the characters. I don't think I even know what color is the eyes of Aiyana. Well, it was a quick read. A cool book to take a break from work. But I do love the names of the two main characters, I might keep it in the lists for my future kids' names. *GRIN*
This was definatly a different story line the your normal ya books. I was able to get into it rather quickly but for me the end also came to quickly, it was almost like the resolutions to the problems were like heres a problem, o look its solved. I think there could have been more there. all in all a very good story as we venture into a city taken over buy a spell gone awry and new race terrifying all the residents. you get sucked in by the amount of gloomyness in the city. at times i was glad to be on the couch with my big fluffy quilt! hope to see a second one. :)
This was a very well written book. I surprised myself with this pick. This isn't my normal genre. I quickly fell in love with the 2 main characters and couldn't put it down!
