The H is forced at gunpoint to marry the poor, underage weepy virgin. He leaves the next day which is the best thing he could do for the H as he is a fricking pig. Four years later, next scene up is a charming and graphic scene of the H and the other woman. Ugh and yuck! He deserves her in spades.

Being dumber than dirt, the H is manipulated to get divorce papers signed because the evil OW doesn't want her hair cut off by an offended wife. The poor H has had a hard time getting women to HAVE SEX WITH since he's married. Poor guy, I hate it when that happens.

He's back in wherever the h is, and good thing he's a veterinarian and not a doctor, as it takes him WAAAAYYYYY too long to figure out the plot moppet is his. That said, he makes a move on the heroine who is now less weepy and built like a short brick house. She's mighty mighty and just let'n it all hang out. She's still one sexual experience away from being a virgin; no longer sweet sixteen but still never been kissed. Yep, resident asshat was such a charmer when he bedded the little virgin, he didn't even kiss her. Be still my heart, Romeo. He does make up for it later as well as some other sexin' up.

I think my favorite quote is, "You'll always be my first wife..." Or something foul like that.

The evil OW makes another appearance and ups the ante in evil OWdom by

Sadly, the H decides he's in love with the h and stays. Lucky him, he doesn't have to marry her as he's already married. The H has an attention span of a yuppie, and I don't have much hope in HEA.

**THREE STARS****

I'm a total sucker for the whole, "Surprise! I had your baby a while back, but didn't tell you about it." Trope. This story started out pretty strong for me because I'm also a sucker for asshole heroes, and Julian started out amongst the best. He was pretty much a gigantic dick through the first couple of chapters-be still my heart, lol. Joanie's reaction when Julian first shows back up at her place again four years later was priceless too. I just knew the story was going to get even better from there. Sadly, all the juicy elements I was looking forward to in this story, never appeared. I thought there might be some arguing, some pissed off feelings caused by the secret keeping , maybe even a bit of heartbreak when these two first reunited, but none of that happened. It was all way too easy for my tastes. Joanie forgives Julian immediately, you know, because "he's so gorgeous". Julian fall instantly in love with his daughter that he just met, and then realizes Joanie's not the dog he remembered her to be, she's actually pretty and decides he has instant feelings for her now. The insta-love all the way around was gag inducing. Then there was the sex. There was plenty of sex, but scenes were a little awkward feeling and the sex talk had a weird vibe for me as well. Thankfully I knew the ending would be saved by Julian's evil, manipulative, lying girlfriend Georgina, as she tried to throw monkey wrenches into Joanie and Julian's relationship, The story was just mediocre for me. Lots of missed opportunities that could have made this story so much better.

Our heroine Joanie was only 17 when 25 year old Julian takes her virginity while he was totally intoxicated. Next morning he remembers nothing but heroine's father forces him to marry Joanie. He indeed marries her, and leaves her the day after the wedding cause he wants nothing to do with his young unattractive geeky bride.

Now over 4 years later he is in a serious relationship with Georgina, a woman who is bitchy and evil and a gold-digger. She asks Julian to get a divorce as soon as possible and he agrees but when he sees Joanie again he is in shock. His child bride has become a hot sexy woman and he is attracted to her. She agrees to sign the divorce papers on one condition--he pay her one hundred thousand dollars.

This is the first book where I thought the heroine was right in keeping her daughter a secret from Julian. He didn't deserve Sam and Joanie. He was a real asshole 4 years ago and the way he abandoned his young innocent bride broke my heart. Joanie is a wonderful mother. She loves her daughter fiercely and would give her life for her. She is wise and mature beyond her 21 years.

Being a single mother is not easy but heroine is not bitter or vindictive and she never blames Julian for turning her life upside down. She has a heart of gold. This is how I like my heroines. I might have shed a few tears when Julian discovers his daughter is wearing a necklace with the ring he gave Joanie on their wedding day.

I love the relationship between Julian and Sam. He is such a sweet caring father and his bonding times with Sam are a joy to read. Sam is the highlight of the book. She is so cute and funny and her honest naive comments about her parents made me laugh out loud! These three really become a family but psycho bitch Georgina tries to ruin everything and that makes Julian realize what a snake his girlfriend is.

A very sexy, steamy romance with good character development and a nice touch of emotional angst!

Cheating hero, great-too-forgiving heroine and add up an evil other woman? ahhh.. it's like a bookgasm for me!

I love/hate Julian.. sigh. First half I wanted to punch him in the balls then throughout the story I couldn't help but adore him! I wish it was longer though.. I want more grovelling in his part.. the ending was wrapped up way too fast in my opinion.

This is a 4 stars but the so I'm just going to round it into 5 stars!

Anyway, highly recommend this one if your into cheating hero.

I enjoyed this book. I like uncomplicated plots and tried n tested tropes where given formulas are applied and work simplistically towards HEAs and happiness. But still at times I felt things were a tad too pat, the H just coming back n so very easily falling for the h. But still a thoroughly enjoyable read. I won’t get into the actual plot as it is just as per the blurb.

*some spoilers alert*
First chapter is like a prologue and was from the H’s pov during their shotgun wedding (an actual shotgun wedding). The H is resentful, unashamed and full of anger at getting caught and having to marry the 17 years old plain h. This chapter is just an inner rant using a lot of eff word and wishing himself anywhere but there.

Second chapter is 4 years down the line and was kinda revolting, with an explicit sex scene between H and the ow. I so such hate books. I mean what is the point to have such scenes in a romance, it totally distracts in an icky way. But as I read on, I got what the author was trying to show very subtly. The sex was as shallow, meaningless and trashy as the ow and their relationship.

The language tones down to ‘normal’ in next chapters…you get it that the four letter words are not so much the author’s choice but the character’s.

The h is as sweet and loving as they come. The H starts out as a hole and comes out squeaky clean and redeemed. The kid, Sam just steals the whole book from the h/H…so adorable and real.
The ow is satisfyingly devious and evil as any, doing her best or rather worst and getting her just desserts too….just as the doctor ordered.
And yes the h had the best dad ever…he doesn’t have a scene in the book apart from the wedding, but the h’s memories tell us what a wonderful wonderful dad he was..one of the best I’ve read about certainly.

Just few other things though..
Wish the H had few more moves in the bedroom or out as were a bit repetitive whether when he's with the ow or when he is with the h!
And I wish the author had said more about how the H, a vet was going to settle and start a practice right here in Bends, Oregon.

“I asked why you love me? I am the epitome of what you hate in a woman. You told me so the night you walked out on me.” Julian groaned and leaned his head on Joanie”s shoulder. He couldn”t believe how awful he was to her. “I spoke in anger. No, that”s not an excuse, and what I did is unforgivable.

Yes, definitely!

But Joanie, hear this. Whenever I see a woman with the same shade of your eyes, I think of you. When I see someone with hair that closely resembled the color of your hair, I would stare, thinking that it could be you. The women I…dated, none of them have chipped fingernail polish. But what do I see when I look at them? Yours. You see, love. You were already embedded in my skin.

Horrible 🤦🏻‍♀️

You see, we already had the best and most beautiful wedding. I don”t want another.

Absolute idiot! 🤦🏻‍♀️

I don't know why I had this book marked to read. I got through the first few pages--not because I wanted to, I was pretty much done by the first page-- and knew that I would not like this book. By page 14, the language had already become gratuitous (and I don't mind a potty mouth under the right circumstances) and I was bored out of my mind. The "hero" muses about how it's not his fault that he (an adult) had sex with the underage virgin, because, hey, he was drunk and she wasn't and also about how even middle-schoolers are "finger f******" and having sex, too (not that this isn't probably true, but I don't want to read about it in my free time). I then skimmed forward a few sections and was rewarded with Doctor Asshole and what's her name, now adults, still talking and acting like teenagers. I just couldn't. I will pretty much read anything I can get my hands on. Even if I don't like a book, more than not, I will finish it for the sake of finishing it, but I could not with this book. I refuse to torture myself.

I wish I could give this zero stars because I absolutely hated Julian! But I guess the one star is for Joanie and Sam(the absolutely cute baby) , Joanie was sweet but a bit of a pushover, she blamed herself for his mistakes, I mean serioulsy!
The premise of the book was good, forced marriage at gunpoint because he took her virginity while she was a minor, left her immediately and then the secret baby. I have a knack for these types of premises if pulled off beautifully (sadly I have yet to find an amazing book with this premise that didn’t blow up.)

Great premise but him screwing left, right, and center while she is celibate! I guess maybe she could have atleast had an admirer during these years of seperation but nada, none, she had no OM drama at all! I guess it is hard raising a baby single handedly, there usually isn’t time for dating. But HE should have atleast checked on her in the four years they were seperated!!

He called himself an honest, responsible man but he was far from it, after taking an innocent minor girl’s virginity and not using protection, I don’t care how drunk he was, its not possible he didn’t remember anything but even if he didn’t, he should have checked on her and owned up to his responsibility.
He had it too easy, not enough groveling!

And the wannabe supermodel OW got away, the only good thing was Joanie was wise enough to want to file a police complaint because of the OW’s attempt to murder her daughter but STILL! The OW got away, I’m sick of these novels not showing or satisfying us with atleast a scene in which the evil OW is rotting in jail without any designer clothes or rich men!!

And Julian, where to begin! He blamed his unwanted wife for having his wannabe f*buddies leaving him as soon as they found out he was married! I mean own up dude, I’ve never seen a bigger coward who got it all easy. There just wasn’t enough grovelling! Something big should have happened, Joanie was wrong as well to accept him so easily.

The read was quick and easy, made me angry as hell but I guess I would have loved it if the H redeemed himself in some way where he felt hurt as much as he hurt her and if she hadn’t accepted him so easily.

The book was fun to read otherwise (if you consider getting your Blood pressure to rise fun that is), but fun none the less all because of Sam’s antiques and ohh yeah the butterflies, the large butterflies in Sam’s woods.

This book packs lots of angst, that's for sure. Too bad the author only focuses on getting the HEA. The trouble with the hero's ex seems trivial & set aside easily. The couple gave in to the mutual sexual attraction too quickly. And to be honest, I don't really like the hero, he's too big of a jerk. I like the theme (secret pregnancy) & I love the angst, but unfortunately the story lacks depth, it is simply insubstantial. 3*** for making me shed some tears.

I think I liked this book better than the second one in the series (i read the second one, first).
4.5 *because It didn't seemed legit how the H acted with the little girl and how her mother just sit there watching. If the child was his wife's baby, he should have acted different.. let's be honest, she was still hos wife. Anyway..a lot of OW drama, a lot of sweetness, a lot of love. Loved it!🖤❤️💙

I didn't like the hero (Julian) in this story, he seemed very shallow and self-absorbed. I also hated the detailed sex scenes with Julian and his live in girlfriend, knowing his internal thoughts turned me off. The heroine was also a weak character, she took back the hero too fast. If this was real life I doubt the relationship would last, the hero would cheat again when he got bored.

At first, I was a bit hesitant to read it because some of the reviews said it wasn't a good book. This isn't my first book from O'Malley and because I liked her series, "The Knight Brothers," I have to say, I'm glad I went ahead and read this book. Yes, I think the author could have skip the part after the Prologue about Georgina. Personally, I skim through it. Other than that, I really like the heroine. Yes, she's young, but that didn't affect the way she carried herself. You'd think she was older and in some ways she was more mature than the hero himself. One of the things I liked the most was her fierceness and determination to protect Sam. That's how mothers should be! This heroine wasn't some kind of love sick puppy after the hero. Yes she loved him but she knew she couldn't tide him to her. I even liked how she kept their daughter a secret. The hero kind of deserved to miss seeing Sam for four years. I liked the hero as well, maybe not as much as the heroine, but he was fine. I would recommend this book. It was different from what I've read so far from O'Malley and for that I'm glad, it makes a nice variety.

I loved this book... Seriously, I've read awful books recently and it was such a fresh breeze!

First it was a hate to love romance, one of my fav tropes. It was well executed.
Joanie and Julian were an estranged couple: 5 years ago, he was drunk and had sex with her and her father caught them and forced him to marry. So of course their marriage started really bad and he loathed the idea to being forced to spend his life with her. In addition, she was quite dorky with her messy hair, huge glasses and braces. She was also 17 so basically, just a child...

He left after the wedding, and when the story starts, we see him being intimate with his new girlfriend, evil and gorgeous Georgiana lool! He wants a divorce to fully live as a single man so he goes back to Joanie to serve her in person since his papers were sent back without her signature...

And that's where it starts. She has changed of course, from an ugly duck to a beautiful swan. But I loved that the story was not an insta lust or insta love thing. Sure, Jo still had feelings for him but she didn't fall into his arms right when she saw him. It took him time to realize his attraction to his wife and everything was gradual and perfect. Of course the sex was great so it was worth the wait lool.

The evil girlfriend also brought something to the book, and I loved that she didn't succed to tear them apart. I hate when couples are kept apart during the book. They had their misunderstanding and it was resolved real quick. Perfect.

And their daughter was such a cutie. Normally I can't stand kids in romance because they're either distracting or annoying but this one was so adorable and really built the bridge between her parents.

I also loved the ending. Not rushed at all. After Georgiana left and they finally said their ILY, we had more chapters to enjoy our couple. Just great

A 5 stars!!

Nope. Didn't work for me. If you like reading about arrogant jerks (and not in a good way!) who never take responsibility and blame others for their mistakes, and heroines who are weak-willed and gullible, then this book is for you. Not even the cute little girl could save this one for me.

Monica's Review

Passionate Bid by Tierney O'Malley was an awesome book written with so much love and sincerity. This story is about a bachelor, Julian Ravenwood, about to be wed to a woman that he did not love but was being forced to by her dad because she was under age, Joanie Saint Claire. Basically he did the deed and took her virginity, and being a minor he had to suffer the consequences—either marry her or go to jail. What Julian did after they were married was unbelievable. There is only one twist, okay maybe two, a bundle of joy, Sam and a girlfriend or ex-girlfriend.

O'Malley does a marvelous job in Chapter Fourteen in describing how a jealous girlfriend will do anything to get her man back. Only problem is don't do anything that you will regret later. O'Malley does excellent writing on how manipulative Julian's ex-girlfriend can be in retaking what she believes is hers. This happens in so many relationships and it is crazy to see what extremes people to thought to get there way but they ruin it at the end.

I highly recommend for you to read this book—it is just amazing! One poem that was written in this book I will not forget as it was written with so much love, it makes you imagine how it would feel is the man you love did this for you. I will share just a small quote from the poem and then you will have to read the book to see how the poem finishes, "If I leave you both now, what will happen to me? Will I miss your cooking, your voice, our kisses, and Sam? Will I feel strange when I open my eyes and not see the stain on the ceiling and not find you in my arms?"

Spoilers ahead! You have been warned!

BTW, I rant/rave not review :D

I really, really liked this book! It was able to evoke emotion from me, and not just anger from the stupidity of characters! I loved Joanie and Sam! I loved the relationship! And although Julian was a dick for what he did to Joanie (and what he continues to do throughout the story), I liked him as a character (most of the time).

Now, I enjoyed the book, I really did... but I just... UGH. I am not content!

Joanie was TOO freaking... words cannot describe...
She was able to stand up for herself, but she was too nice or something! She deserved SO much better than how she was treated, and although the dickwad knew he was a dickwad and was sorry for it... he did NOT redeem himself!

And I totally get the whole innocent, virgin, and pure h thing, I do!
But to remain so after being abandoned and cheated on? NO BUENO! Especially if the H is cheating with a she devil!

That being said, O'Malley did a great job! She portrayed her characters in a way that, even though I was fed up and annoyed with, still stuck around and routed for.

Awful.
I didn't mind the premise, the so called Hero is forced to marry the heroine after having sex with her while he was drunk, she wasn't but she was under age.
Why a father would want his daughter saddled for the rest of her life with such a man esp when he doesn't want to marry her I didn't understand but allowing for it being something the family thought was needed I can accept it.
Skip 5 years, we read an intimate scene with the so called Hero with another woman.
He left straight after the wedding and has obviously been living like a single man. This other woman he decides he wants a future with so wants to sort out his divorce.
I didn't think this was a bad premise but the intimate scenes with the other woman was ew.....
The heroine shows very little self respect by having sex with the Hero, obviously not having learnt anything from her younger self.
The conversations are cringe worthy if you can get past the cheating so called Hero.
Not for me.
